I haven't been keeping up with SSS since unsubbing from their monthly kit so...does anyone have the scoop on this year's Stamptember?? Anything at all??
We all know they are very shush about it and usually start with the exclusive collabs around the 3rd day of the month. It'd be nice to know, at least, what brands are participating and on what dates. Someone asked on their blog to consider starting at 9pm EST (for half a month) and they are yet to respond...or they are simply ignoring the request. I am pretty sure that is not the only person with this request. I am in Florida so it would benefit me as well not having to wait until midnight to see the releases.
Do you think this event is overrated?? I didn't buy anything last year and I am definitely having mixed feelings about it.

I usually only buy stuff from them during this month and only the exclusives, usually Lawn Fawn.
I haven't heard anything about who is included this year.

I hate that if I see something on day 3 and something else in day 18 I have to pay for shipping twice ( and so slow for the $!$) so I wait and see what’s left at the end. Generally everything I want sells out and I forget about it and it’s fine.
In past years (prepandemic) I bought 2 items and one was a mistake, not my style once I had time to really think about it, and the other is a great stamp but not very good quality. I later got a related stamp directly from the collab company and it’s better quality (the lines on the SSS one are strangely shallow so I get ink in the bits that shouldn’t get ink on them) and just as fun or better than the SSS collab design. So idk, I try not to even look because I don’t want to be FOMOed.

I also thought they seemed a bit pricey for what the buyer would get.

I don’t do stamptember. The stuff is way ( way ) over priced AND you expect me to stay up til midnight to over pay?
What? Huh? Like I might get up at midnight for a discount but not to over pay.
I get such a sour attitude that I don’t even follow or watch videos because I feel it’s a scam.

When I first heard about STAMPtember here, I thought it was like SKETCHtember, but with stamps. When I learned it was a marketing ploy by SSS, I was extremely disappointed.

I guess I'm the outlier, I always have fun in Stamptember. Do I always like everything? Absolutely not. Do I suffer from FOMO the whole time? Yes. I always look out for Lawn Fawn. This year I'm adding Gina K and Pinkfresh to my must see list. I'm also low key paying attention to SSS releases. I've purchased quite a few of their branded items this year and I like what they've been coming out with.

I will look at Lawn Fawn, Gina K, PinkFresh, and Art Impressions (I won't purposely stay up to check right when they go live). Having said that I will only buy if I think it is my style. Last year I didn't buy anything but was really only looking for Art Impressions. I was hoping it was going to be a watercolor stamp set and it wasn't. I do think they are overpriced and slow to ship. I don't by from SSS but maybe twice a year. We shall see what happens this year.

Oh, I shop at SSS no doubt But I’m not getting up at mid night to over pay for a stamp they bought way too few of. Nope. If I stumble across something I want and it’s still in stock ( or have insomnia in Sept ) sure I’ll buy. But I just can’t get into the hype of it and then it’s all sold out in 10 mins at a premium price. There’s only one store I’d do any of that for. And it’s not them.

I totally hear you.....everything you said reminds me of the good ol' days of scrapping when I would refresh my screen a million times when new SC kits came out. I hope this year Lawn Fawn comes through. I can't remember what I bought last year but I remember being really disappointed (and not buying) LF.

I used to watch for Gina K's collab - but last year, the price was so high - over $60 for a stamp set and dies - over $10 more than the normal price direct from Gina K for a set that size? And no break on the shipping? Hell to the no! And now I don't even remember what it looked like or why I thought I should have it. So this year, I'm not even looking.

I find I overspend if I have FOMO, so I'm better off NOT watching for sales like these.

I usually follow it for the Tim Holtz release. Some years it's great, some meh. Usually the price is not as jacked up as some of the other brands, and the last couple years it did not sell out quickly. I forget what the inventory on it was, but it was way up there.
To me, it's fun to wait/watch, even if I don't like the set. Usually he does lives and it's neat to see the creativity. I would not be super bummed if I missed.

This is one event where it pays to be on the west coast. Iirc we get to see the release at 9pm! There’s no way I would be looking at midnight.

I've been able to get my FOMO under control this year. Besides that, I made a drastic change in my life and my new bedtime is 9pm so by midnight, the time of the releases, I will be happily resting in Morpheus' arms. It's good to know I'm not the only one dissapointed in SSS, including the fact that their exclusive products are not as attractive as before. I used to look forward to the monthly kit and other releases from their brand, now not so much.

I got the Gina K set last year and it was only $1 or two more than her regular sets. Maybe you ended up looking at the stamp and die bundle thing. I paid around $25 for the set. Something like that. I didn't end up getting the dies. My understanding is that SSS sets the prices. Not the companies.

I didn't end up getting the dies. My understanding is that SSS sets the prices. Not the companies. Yep, I was looking at the combo. Usually from Gina K, a stamp set that size with dies comes to a little over $50, which is enough to get free shipping. The set from SSS was around $60, but then the additional $7.99 for shipping. SSS does set the prices; from what I understand, the other companies do up the artwork and SSS takes it from there - they decide how many they're going to order and SSS orders it from their manufacturer. Learned this from a couple of years of observing the gnashing of teeth that one set or another sold out right away, and they should limit customers to one of each set because people are buying extras to sell at an inflated rate, but what if my friends and I want to order together to save on the shipping . . . the DRAH-MAH! I'm not bashing anyone who enjoys the event. It's a great idea - September was a low-sales month for them and they created an event to counteract that. But I know that ~~I~~ can get too caught up in thinking I need things because they are limited quantities, and then I don't use them. So it's best for me to ignore as much as possible. And there will always be other sets that I will want, where I don't have to stay awake and order right away in order to get them.

I'm sitting here now trying to decide if I should stay up. Kristina Werner is doing a live at 12. I shouldn't even be thinking about it since I have to be up at 5.

It would be cool if they did a discounted shipping rate for Stamptember. Well, given how long they take to get the stuff in boxes and shipped out (anytime, not just in StampTember) I feel like it isn’t that much of a stretch to have the option of building a box of stuff to ship at the end of the month. Although given how hard they make shipping look maybe that is too much to ask. 🙄

I like to look but can’t buy because shipping to Australia is CRAZY expensive. I also think bundling is the way to go .You’d think it would save them work only shipping once and not several times per customer- to say nothing of their increased sales
