grammadee - hopefully your dh's recovery from the dental work is going smoothly. Have you managed to get to scrapping - I'm stuggling this Sketchtember as well but hoping to get some done today nylene - your poor DH (and poor you) that sounds very scary. I'm glad that he's feeling okay and hope he takes the quiet time needed to heal. Thank goodness for your Emily. kitbop - looking forward to seeing all your layouts! Dh is still feeling unwell. DD ended up back in the ER last night - she slipped in the shower, fell, trapped her casted arm between her and the bathtub, and hit her head on the tile floor. A goose egg swelled up right away so we played it safe and had her checked out. She's okay - possible concussion but no new fractures and she was cleared to go to her meet today (which is what SHE was most worried about). Coach muttered something about bubble wrap when we dropped her off this morning but was willing to carry and adminster tylenol - school policy is that students are not allowed even so much as a cough drop and to have her get tylenol during the school day would require a doctor's note, a prescription, and us signing a notarise form. Thankfully her coach is a bit more reasonable. I'm hoping to scrap today but we'll see if my mojo cooperates.

*@homeschoolmum* I want to scream for you! Your poor DD - I'm so glad she didn't do too much damage to herself. DH is very athletic. But struggling on crutches. He is so careful, and he HATES showering right now whereas normally it's something he loves. He has actually started sitting down in the tub to shower because he is so scared of falling. We're such a lousy species for balance - anything throws us off!

kitbop -I feel for your DH - having spent many years on crutches - showering is tough. Even now I'm super cautious because my balance isn't very good. I want to get a shower chair but space is an issue - we have a tiny en suite. DD has been using our shower because we have the handheld showerhead and that's easier to manage one handed apparently but when she slipped she reached to support herself on the shower curtain (her shower has a door) and went through it. Might be time to get the shower chair anyway. I'm hoping we're done with injuries AND illnesses for a while. She DID get released from PT yesterday(ankle) - with instructions to keep working on it at home. We never did get a diagnosis but the PT helped so...

Oh Linda! You are going to be on a first name basis with all the staff at the ER! They will be calling your dd a frequent flyer LOL. I hope she recovers quickly from this last mishap. Showers are scary places. At a couple of my ds's homes, they have the newer showers installed: no tub, but easy grip floors and hand held shower heads. As showers, I love them, but I really prefer a long hot soak in a tub, so I wouldn't want to put one of those in to replace my tub. I am amazed, kitbop, that your dh prefers to climb in and out of a tub with his injury. I was deathly afraid of losing my balance during THAT process when my arm was broken, so I showered instead. I am hoping to take on at least one sketch today. Pulled out some VB foundations cs and have been splattering some ink at it. Haven't ruined it yet, but the day is young...

Good Sunday evening, Pokeys! How is everyone doing? Hoping your dh is coming along well, nylene. I am hoping you can keep him inactive while he heals. How are your dh and dd, Linda? Dh's denturist called late Friday to say they may not have his plate ready by Tuesday when his appointment is. He is not a happy camper. Did you get to join into the crop yesterday? I had hoped to drop in, but we ended up going to dh's sister's house for the evening. The last of their aunts on their mother's side passed away last week, and I have been asked to write a eulogy. It's a little strange b/c no one seems to know who will be reading the eulogy at the service, and it seems to me it would make a difference how it is written if different people were reading it. But the funeral is not until the 19th, so right now I am just gathering memories from various people. She was predeceased by her husband and only son and she has no grandchildren, so I have been talking to dh's cousins. I did manage to get some pages and cards finished this weekend. Met a couple of SKETCHtember challenges and now I have a sample for my own challenge later in the month. It was good to play with paper again. I am enjoying seeing all the different takes on the sketches. The Gallery is hopping. I always feel like this month provides a ton of fodder for the imagination if you consider lifting some of those LO's. Waving hi to everyone!

Good Monday Pokies! Dh is still not back 100% but he did go to work this morning - early even which was super unusual (he's almost always late). DD's still sore but healing. She had a long day on Saturday - we left the house at 530 to drop her off at school for the drive to Orlando and they didn't get back until nearly 10. Yesterday was a bit shorter but she had Girl Scouts (an hour drive each way) - it was their intro meeting for new troop members and she got to demonstrate making fire with a flint and steel. We went to Sam's Club while she was at the meeting (it's a 2hr meeting) and then Joanns afterwards so she could choose fabric for the cape she wants me to make. I did get to scrap on Saturday and hope to again later today. grammadee - I hoipe your DH's plate comes in sooner than expected - that would be frustrating if it's delayed. It's kind of you to write the eulogy for your DH's aunt - good luck. nylene - keeping your husband in my prayers for healing - hopefully he's being sensible and resting. kitbop - how is your DH doing? Hello to everyone else

Good Morning! Hugs and healing vibes for all of you and your family members! nylene that's scary about DH, I'm glad he mentioned the lump! I hope he will let himself and you rest while he recuperates! Linda your poor DD has sure had it rough lately! I'm glad DH is feeling better and I hope DD's year smoothes out for her. What a lot! And that you get some scrappy time gramma and kellyr21 I hope you are staying cool in the heat! grammadee what a bummer DH's upper plate isn't ready. I liking the mojo that comes with Sketchember but I won't get but maybe one or two more sketches done this month, but I'm loving them all so I think I'll try to get more of them done through OCT. It's just felt like a weird year for me as far as being creative goes. It was sooooo good to crop with you guys again. I'm ready for colder weather and staying in and scrapping. I was thinking the other day about how Saturday night has become scrap night for the most part. And then I think about how I spent all my Saturday nights when I was younger. And the contrast just makes me laugh lol. I had Rudy yesterday afternoon and what I thought would be going to feed the ducks and play at the park turned into 3 8 year olds hanging out here lol. They played video games and board games and it reminded me so much of when mine were younger with their friends. It was a really enjoyable time and Rudy has already asked if they can do this again lol. I hope everyone has a good start to the week and there are no more incidents!

joyfulnana - I'm glad that you've got a fairly regular scrap night. Too fun with Rudy and his friends! DD came home early from school - her head was hurting too much to concentrate. So we're headed back to the doctor this afternoon - both to have her checked out AND to get dr note to excuse her absense. We're all out of parent notes and she already has one unexcused absence this year so... I'm so incredibly over our district's truancy policies. Last year was the first year since we moved to this district in 2008, that I haven't had a truancy warning for at least one kid. This year is not looking like it'll be any better especially since they dropped parent excuses to 3 from 5 Hoping to scrap this evening...I have a layout in progress on my desk. I'm falling further behind on Sketchtember...

Happy Monday! It has been cooling down some and I am grateful! Yesterday was the first day in a while that I could get out earlier in the day for church. It was still hot but only in the high 80's. LOL! I am looking forward to getting back to some of my normal activities and routines now that it is cooling down. I have some papercrafting to catch up on, too. The sketches for Sketchember look good grammadee! Thanks to all of you giving us this daily inspiration. Did you know Scrapbook dot com is having a two day festival this Friday and Saturday. Here is the schedule and info. Link HereSending out prayers to all of you especially those of you with family medical problems. So tough and my thoughts are with you. Hang in there!!!

Hello, Pokeys. Sorry I haven't been able to check in. DH had a problem with the graft from the roof of his mouth and we spent 3 hours back in the surgeon's office. He is now on a liquid diet for the next week and probably 2 weeks. He is doing much better though. I had planned meals for his recovery, but that has all changed now. He's developing a taste for Ensure and Boost. Linda, I am so sorry that your DD is having so many problems. Falling with a broken wrist is such a fear. I'm glad she wasn't hurt worse. I hope the headache eases and that she can get back on track and feel well. She is in my prayers. Hugs to you as you care for her. I hope she doesn't get behind in school work to make matters worse. kitbop, I'm sure your DH is so tired of crutches. Our neighbor had the same injury from playing basketball with his sons, and playing hard after years of inactivity. I remember how long it took to heal. Your DH is in my prayers. My sister called yesterday and made the comment that her prayer list gets longer the older she and her family gets. I have to agree with that! Hugs to you as you assist him. grammadee, I'm sorry your DH's plate was not ready. Has he healed up pretty well from the extractions? I hope he can soon get the chance to eat his normal diet again. I'm glad you are now able to get going on the sketches. I saw that you had posted, but haven't had a minute to get to the gallery. kellyr21, I am so glad it has cooled off for you. That high temp would wear me out. I'm afraid I'd never leave the house. Thanks for the reminder of the Scrapbook dot com event. We will be back in the surgeon's office on Friday, but if all goes well I may be able to catch some on Saturday. I'm glad it's free. I want to see what you make after watching all the classes. joyfulnana, your time with Rudy and his friends sounds like a lot of fun. I hope you can do it again. I really miss having children around. I guess that was my favorite time of life. I wish I had been able to scrap with y'all last weekend. I am really missing it. I'm glad your scrapping mojo is coming back. I hope mine will later in the month. I'm printing out the sketches and thinking about them! Waving to all the Pokeys! I'll check in again when I get a minute.

Oh, nylene. So hoping that the new fix will do the trick. You are both in my thoughts. I have dh on Ensure as well. I started putting it into smoothies with fruit, but now he puts it on his porridge (he is gradually adding more texture to his diet). It is too bad they make them all so SWEET. A taste of real food is what he was craving. I started making smoothies with V8 juice and veggies and beef broth with plain yoghurt. And I made home made soups and blended them up so they were smooth. The denturist called yesterday so he is going in today. Hopefully he adjusts to his new chompers quickly. Thanks for the heads up about SB dot com, kellyr21. I had registered awhile ago and when I didn't hear back right away I had forgotten about their upcoming weekend of classes. With SKETCHtember and Shimelle's classes, it is not fun IDEAS I need: I feel almost overloaded with those. I think I need to make a few pages where I simply start with the photos and just relax into getting them onto a page. Hope your dd is feeling better, Linda. I understand why the schools are trying to cut down on class skipping, but % attendance is not an exact predictor of academic success. Some kids do just as well when they are NOT in class (I think my dd's % attendance in her final year of high school hovered in the 60's and she was top of the class). And the kids who really need to be in school do not often have parents who are able to provide the support they need to keep going to school. For some families a truancy note is nothing to be concerned about. Parents with low literacy may not even read it. And parents working several jobs just to cobble together food and shelter don't have alot of time to deal with the school. (Maybe the kid is working too to help make ends meet, and that is why they are missing classes). In my experience, threats and rules don't make much difference: the school has to be one of the best places that student can imagine to spend their day. joyfulnana, I hope you got a few pic's of Rudy with his friends. How wonderful that he sees your place as one where he can invite his buddies to hang out!

nylene - yikes - hope that works for your DH. grammadee - hopefully your DH ajusts to the new teeth easily. Yeah, I'm not a fan of truancy rules/threats (obviously) - also not a fan of perfect attendance awards (I feel they encourage coming to class sick). DD is a straight A student even with missing 20+% of school so far this year - she just makes up the work at home (most is computer based anyway). The only class she's struggling with is welding because almost the entire grade is class participation so she looses 20% of the week's grade every day she misses. But he offers makeup sessions after school and she's been doing that.

Hey everyone. I'm getting into the swing of having students in class again. (Yay!) I have had quite a few register, but so far 6 in class most days (but never the same 6.) I'm not complaining though. grammadee nylene kitbop I am sending healing vibes to your husbands. And to your daughter Linda. kellyr21 I'm glad your heatwave broke. We're into fall here. We've had a couple of frost warnings, but so far it hasn't actually happened. This is the time of year where I wear a jacket to work and then forget it because it's lovely and warm in the afternoon. joyfulnana I'm glad you had fun with Rudy and his friends. My nieces are growing up on me so fast! They are 15 and nearly 13. I've been working on my knitting. I'm on stripe 17 of 30 for the afghan class my sister and I are taking. I'm also planning my Cardtober cards. Hopefully I can finish them ahead of time so there's no pressure next month. grammadee and I are starting a Cozy Mystery book club with a few others this month, so I read The Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie. We're still helping my DFIL downsize. He's moving in with my BIL and his house is starting to look pretty empty.

nylene I hope your dh and YOU are doing okay. Please remember to take care of yourself, too. OUCH, Linda. I have had that happen. Is there any way you can just spend the day lounging around and resting those knees? Touching wood I have not had knee problems since I was involved in an extensive Physio class. justjac, I have not read the book yet, but am almost finished the one I am reading and will start that one next. I did arrange for a vehicle appointment the day of our book club meeting, so hoping to combine it with a day at the LSS scrapping while the guys are replacing my tires and doing a wheel alignment. Will anybody besides kellyr21 be watching the SBfest on the weekend? msliz I saw you had been checking in on the SBfest thread on the General SB board. Will you be playing along? I didn't realize that it starts today. I won't be scrapping along--I find that way too stressful--but I will be catching the videos as they become available on YouTube. I am glad they have taken the "LIVE" portion out of the classes, so they should have less chit chat in them. Don't know when I became a curmudgeon who is impatient with fun conversations and just wants the speaker to "get to the point"... After some delays at the denturist, dh is supposed to get his new top plate today. The partial for his bottom is not yet ready, but he is driving in to get the top one fitted in. He is hoping that he will be able to adjust to talking with them in his mouth well enough to deliver the eulogy on Monday.

nylene - any update? These are not the happiest of times and I think of you often! Linda - my knees are crappy too. They were workable with crunching and irritation until March. And then the right one said, "I'm done with gym squats. I've told you it hurts. Now you are going to STOP". I had viscosupplementation shots this summer which helped mightily...for 6 weeks! Now I'm almost back to square 1. I squatted down in the garden yesterday, and hurt myself terribly I'm so sorry you've tweaked yours - rest up! justjac - Isn't it nice to start to get some normalcy back - glad to hear you are seeing students again! I am going to try to play through Cardtober. I need to make more cards and use my beautiful supplies! grammadee - glad your DH will have teeth again! How are you feeding him?? And I sure hope they aren't clacking during the eulogy...that brings quite the picture to mind! I signed up for the SBF, but sigh, life has interfered... .. .I drove DH to the airport this morning so he's not home to help, *************side note - when disabled, and traveling - airport staff take you through the airport in a wheelchair and you get to skip all the lineups and DH thinks he may wear a cast-boot and take crutches every time he travels from now on!********* then I worked today, and had the evening free but DD called just as I was finishing up at work and she's had a car accident - totally not her fault - but so much to do including reporting/insurance/pick her up/get car to collision centre... and tomorrow I have a wedding to go to which is a BIG deal - my first PARTY since covid! So I too will watch on replay!

grammadee - hopefully the dentist visit went well for your dh and adjusting to the new plate is easy. I'll have to take a look at SBfest - I have all sorts of unexpected free time this weekend while resting my knee kitbop - sorry you're dealing with bad knees also. Rest up! Yes- I've always had good experiences when travelling on crutches - the airlines/airports are so helpful. I'm glad went well for your DH and I hope his visit goes smoothly. Prayers for your DD - I hope she's okay and that the car repairs go well. Have fun at the wedding! My knee is still swollen and unable to bear weight so I suspect I'm headed to the doctor on Monday. I'm finding the crutches surprisingly hard to manage - I've used them on and off since my teens but always for my right knee and the muscle memory is tripping me up so to speak needing to use them for my left knee this time - and my right knee isn't happy about doing extra work. However I'm making good progress on my reading challenge so silver lining? DH and DD are at the company picnic today - I didn't end up going - too much walking on uneven ground for me.

linda I hope your knee is feeling better! You guys seriously need a break from health related stuff! ETA: Well boo. This doesn't sound like a good development. I hope the swelling goes down. Take it easy! nylene how is DH doing? I hope you are resting and taking care of yourself. justjac and grammadee I haven't read an Agatha Christie novel in years! I love mysteries. The book club sounds fun and so does scrapping at the LSS all day while car maintenance is done! That would be awesome. kitbop I hope things smooth out for you too! It's pouring in this little group! I had planned to watch SBCfest - no way I would join in, I'm not that fast and it would stress me out lol. I've made it through a few of the classes. But I think they will mostly be background noise while I scrap - if I scrap lol. Rudy's bday is Tuesday so I'm off to shop for him and run a couple errands. And I have to remember to get a courthouse picture for MARIBETHR today. I meant to get it a couple weeks ago. I have sketches printed and have pics and kits ready, now to do the work and finish the page. I have not been nearly as productive this Sketchtember as I have been in the past. I'm having a hard time finding a rhythm and seem to be much happier planning pages and organizing than actually scrapping. Not sure what that is all about lol.

So now instead of the Bee's Knees, we have become the Peas' Knees... Hoping you can get through the wedding, kitbop with the ways yours are acting. Too funny about the conclusion your dh reached when traveling with a boot and crutches. Our first cruise, my dsil and I watched the care received by physically disabled passengers and joked about getting a wheelchair that we could take turns riding or pushing... Seriously, though, airports are such huge mazes that it is hard enough to get where you need to be with two good legs under you, so someone with mobility issues really needs all the help they can get. linda I hope your rest will help your knee, and if not the doctors will have some solutions. Hope you are enjoying SBCfest. I watched two classes in full yesterday and skimmed the rest. Had Vicki B in the background while I was scrapping this morning. Have fun shopping for Rudy, joyfulnana. How old is he turning? nylene you are in my thoughts... Please check in.

Just a quick check in. The stitches holding DH's eye closed were removed this weekend, but he has to wait until next Thurs to get the rest out. He can't wear his glasses because the graft patch is right where his nose piece touches. He's still on a liquid diet, so between being unable to eat and unable to see, he's having a hard time. I am hoping that Thurs. comes quickly. I know he feels like a caged animal. He looks forward to being back to work and so do I. LOL.
I'll try to check in and catch up during the week. Thanks for your concerns for us.

Finally got some time on the computer today. I have been doing a bit of scrapping in the living room, but it's not like being in my scraproom. I have watched more tv in the past 2 weeks than in months. I'll be glad to just "veg" in my scraproom for long periods of time. I did finish 2 pages and have bits of a couple more done, but although I have the sketch in front of me, they don't look much like it when I finish. I just don't have small photos so everything has to be squished together. DH went to work for 2 hours this am to do light duties. DS picked him up on Friday and took him to see each of the new homes he is building. They spent about 3 hours together and it did wonders for DH's cooped up anxiety. He's doing well on the liquid diet, but his eye doesn't look very good to me. I guess we'll see what the Dr. says on Thurs. grammadee, how is your DH doing with the diet? Did they get his plate adjusted so he can handle it? Thanks for the suggestions of food. DD had her jaw wired shut for 8 weeks after a surgery when she was 16. She called and gave him suggestions too. Her favorite was warm jello water and uncooked cake mix when she needed a treat. LOL. I hope your DH will be able to be back on real food soon. justjac, I would love to see your afghan so far. You have really made progress on it. Is there anything you don't do well?? You are so talented. Glad you have some returning students. I hope they will continue to come and get the skills and knowledge they need. Has your DFIL moved yet? Linda, I think we need to go together and order huge rolls of bubble wrap for all the Pokey peas. I am so sorry your knee has put you back on crutches. I hope the doctor has some help for you today. How is your DD doing after her fall? I hope you can work out the absences with the school. Please take it easy so it will heal. You are in my prayers. kitbop, I empathize with your knees too. I loved your DH's idea of wearing a boot always for flying. LOL. The last time we flew I had checked that DH was hearing and visually impaired. We were suddenly called to the podium and given early boarding and first class. I don't expect that every time, but early boarding is really helpful. I hope your DH does well on his trip. (or is he back now?) I am losing track of time. I am so sorry about your DD's car accident. That is such a pain. I am glad she wasn't hurt. An out-of-commission car causes all kinds of problems. Hope it is all cleared up soon. joyfulnana, I'm sorry you didn't get to watch much of the ScrapFest. How were the classes you watched? That's so nice of you to get a photo for MARIBETHR. I need to get to Provo and get that county for her. I got one from our Idaho county when I was home one weekend. I hope you get your rhythm going and are able to do some of the sketches. kellyr21, did you get to watch a lot of the Scrapfest classes? What did you learn? Will they be available online for a while? I was hoping to get to see a couple, but DD and family arrived Sat to mow the lawn and help out. That was so sweet of them and by the time they left the classes were over. Let us know how they were. I am going to try to finish a page before the end of the day.

nylene - I'm glad that you got to scrap a little. I often feel like my layouts don't look much like the sketch either - the smaller page/bigger picture make hard. Prayers for your DH - I hope Thursday checkup is good news. The Scrapfest videos are on their youtube channel - I haven't actually gotten to watch any yet - I can't sit too long at my desk comfortably. Dr thinks my knee is tendon related but I have an appt for xrays on Wednesday. She seemed to feel 2-3 weeks of resting it/using crutches would do the trick. I do see my regular PCP on Wed after the x-rays - so I'll follow up with her also (the practise has a provider who does new patient and sick visits primarily and that's who I saw today) Poor DH - he's stuck doing dishes, cooking, and laundry because DD is still in her cast. He picked up a shower transfer bench for me and a safety handle for the bath (we don't have a stall shower and I can't step over the tub edge)...DD called it 'old grandma stuff'...not so funny to me. We had been talking about getting a bench anyway so....

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a nice weekend. Waving hi to you gals! On Saturday our city's library had a craft festival. This was this first one and it was ok. I am excited to see that they were offering crafts for families and I hope next year will be even better. Yesterday, we got out the the beach and there was a local symphony concert going on. We walked around the area and went to some of our favorite shops. After two plus months of crazy heat and me getting some "cabin fever" it felt so good to be out and about. I did check out some of the Scrapbook dot com event. I didn't watch as much as I had hoped but they did record the event. Here is the link to day one. Link HereAlso, if you look in the description box on the video, they have all the instructors listed by time you can skip to the person you want to see. nylene- MY FRIEND!!! Oh, I am sending you a big ole hug! What a journey you and your dh have been on with his eyes. Know that I am praying for you and your dh and hope you both get a break from this very soon. What a wonderful family you have, too. linda- HUGS to you, too. I hope you and your dd heal and get better soon, too. I am praying for you and your family, too. justjac- Glad you got students now. I know it must be more rewarding having in-person students there. Also, glad to see you are knitting and in a book club. So cool. joyfulnana- Football is back and my dh is happier. LOL! The Eagles (Ron's favorite team) play tonight and I hope they win so he can got the bed smiling. I know about up and down mojo. Hey, if just planning and organizing feels good, go for it. I started a mini album and weeks have past since I have worked on it. That's ok! I will get to it when my mojo swings around.

Good Monday evening, Pokeys. I am glad your dh had a day out with your ds on the weekend and got to go into work for a few hours, nylene. I really hope that eye heals better than you think it looks. And hopefully he will be able to eat more foods. And i hope you can get into your scraproom soon. I found the Bullet was really handy for blending up soups and other foods dh liked. He was happy to eat his first garden ripened tomato cut in slices and corn cut off the cob yesterday, and he plans to try cukes tomorrow. Hoping your knee gets better with rest as your dr suspects, Linda. Glad your dh is pitching in with housework and that he got those bathtub aids for you. Tell your dd she will probably be happier with a clean happy gramma than a grouchy stinky mom. Glad you got out and about to cure the cabin fever, kellyr21. The concerts at the beach sound lovely. For SBCfest, I watched the Shimelle and Vicki Boutin classes in whole, and parts of Simon Hurley's and Ali Edwards' classes. Lots of cool ideas. We just arrived home from dh's aunt's funeral. Left at 7:00AM. Dh was able to deliver the eulogy, but he is still struggling to get the correct sounds out clearly. The luncheon seemed a bit rushed b/c they held it between the funeral service and the trip to the cemetary. But I did manage to get the 11 cousins and the one surviving aunt (the widow of one of this aunt's brothers) for a photo session. Got them started and soon everyone else had their phones out. I had trouble seeing everyone on my pic's, so climbed onto a chair to take the last few. Don't know if anyone got a shot of this crazy 75 year old balancing up there to get the right shot LOL. Okay. I need to crawl into bed now. As I was driving this morning I was thinking of a couple of LO's I could be doing for SKETCHtember, but I am not sure I remember them now. Maybe a brain wave will hit me tomorrow.

grammadee - condolences to your DH on his aunt's passing. I'm glad he was up to the eulogy. Well done on getting group pictures! I do hope someone took one of you and shares it with you so you can scrap it! Hopefully you got some sleep last night

Good Thursday mid day, Pokeys! How is everyone doing? Hoping you are having some time to play with the SKETCHtember challenges, and that you are planning to sign up for Quarter FOUR. Now football fans like kellyr21 and joyfulnana know that the fourth quarter is the most important one, right? Or at least the most exciting! justjac , you will be happy to know I have finished reading Murder at the Vicarage. And most of you will be surprised to hear that this is the first Agatha Christie book I can remember reading. Loved all the little plot twists she threw in. And her folksy style of writing. How are you and your dh doing, nylene ? Is today the day he sees the dr again? How are your knees, kitbop and Linda ? Hoping you are not in too much pain. Doing all kinds of ward-off-evil signals here to keep bad knees away from here! This Saturday dd & family will be coming to the farm to dig potatoes. No time for bad knees when harvesting root crops. This morning I did some stamping and ink/water brush colouring some borders for a couple of pages I hope to finish next week. I was spending a bit of time this morning starting to put together some page kits to take to the LSS on Tuesday, and this was for one of them. Then I walked around the yard to take some fall foliage photos. How is that for alliteration, kitbop ? I may just misspell the last word and use it for my title when I scrap these. After that I dug a couple of pails of carrots which will have to be trimmed and bagged this afternoon. Later we are going for pancake supper at the Seniors' Centre. Okay, off to deal with those carrots...

Hello, Pokeys. The appt for DH went pretty well today. He must still stay on a liquid/very soft diet for another week. The stitches and patch were removed and they look pretty good. Still needs to be very careful with the graft on his nose. It's where his nose piece of his glasses touch, so no glasses for a week. He can function without them (don't do much good) except for distance. He is doing some work-from-home projects for the golf course, but will return to work next week if he feels ok. He will be rechecked next Fri. I was all set to scrap. I even had cut out some pieces for a page, but DH remembered that his pants are too long and wanted me to fix them. Once the sewing machine was out and working, he remembered other things that need a few stitches or repairs. So there went that hour. I have been putting off making a pillow from a latch hook piece DGD finished. She was in no hurry so it has been sitting. I think I will make that this afternoon while I already have the machine out. Maybe later this evening I can work on finishing a page. grammadee, it doesn't sound fun to be digging potatoes and carrots, but I love the smell of the earth during digging and certainly love the taste of potatoes and carrots. I used to love picking potatoes when they were freshly dug. At home, "spud harvest" didn't begin until the first week in Oct. Then all the schools closed so the kids could help on the farms. I hope you enjoy being with your family this weekend. Linda, how is the knee doing? And how is the arm healing for DD? Have you finished the pages from the class you were taking? I haven't been near the sharing thread for a couple of weeks, but hope to catch up today. How are you doing on the sketches? Will you get them all done? No hope for me this year. kellyr21, I am so glad it has cooled off for you and that you have been able to get out to the beach. What kind of crafts were they doing at your Craft Festival? Where Anj lived before, they had a Library craft day with lots of crafts for kids and adults. It was the highlight of their summer to spend a whole day there. I'd better get back to work or I won't get any scrapping done today. Have a great weekend, everyone!

nylene - so glad you have some good news that things are healing! I bet your DH is losing weight and from my memory of him in pictures he wasn't overweight to start with? It sounds like he did too good a job of finding "busy work" for you today!!! I hope you get some craft time for yourself. I have SO (sew?) many mending projects in my basket and just never get to them. DD is better at it...I should make her help me! grammadee - garden carrots are our FAVOURITE. Most years, I just dump in rows of seeds, and then don't do a good job of thinning, but we end up with lots of carrots anyways (funky forked carrots because they are too close together, but they still taste good!). This year I planted "right". We spaced them out and I was going to thin them properly. And I swear only 1/4 of them grew at all. I can COUNT the carrots we're going to harvest. Some look HUGE (no competition nearby!) but I don't want to harvest them because we'll just eat them and then they'll be gone. How's that for logic I'm so glad the funeral went fairly smoothly. I hope you have no more in the near future. How were your x-rays Linda? Speaking of gardens, the place I love most at this time of year is the farmers market...but I'm working this weekend and can't go! And DH can't go (he gets home tomorrow) because he's still in the cast boot! Sigh. I don't know when we'll get more apples, carrots and potatoes OK, yes, the store still exists and probably has local produce. But it's just not the same! The farmers market *smells* like fresh air and dirt. I haven't got more sketches done this week, but I have made 4 cards (needed 2, made 2 extra for the stash!). I have to take a picture of them and post! Waving "hi" to justjac, gramma, joyfulnana, kellyr21, MARIBETHR, cycworker, Aheartfeltcard!

grammadee - I'm glad thatr you enjoyed your first Agatha Christie - I haven't read them in decades but they were the first mysteries I read (stating at the tender age of 8 or 9 - reading my mum's copies). Glad you were able to get some creative time in. Hope you share the fall foliage photos - that's definitely something I miss living in Florida. nylene - I'm glad your DH's appt went well - sorry about the diet and the glasses - hopefully next week? Sounds like you got caught up on mending projects but sorry that it cut into your scrappy time. Hopefully you've gotten a chance to get some time to scrap. kitbop - don't wait so long to harvest your carrots that they can't be eaten. Sorry about the farmers market. How was your dh's trip? Knee updates - I'm down to one crutch around the house today so that's an improvement. I haven't heard about the x-rays yet - they did warn me it would take a bit. nylene - DD is ALL done with having a cast but doesn't get it off until Oct 3rd. I'm actually more concerned with her continued headaches from hitting her head. She came home early from school on Wed in tears (she's not a cry-er). Hoping to catch up on points counting today - I'm WAY behind. October hasn't been very scrappy here so that'll help. I finished my stamping class but only 1/2-way through my stencil class and I'm still working my way through the 4x6 sketch class also - I think I'm about 1/2 way on that also. And thus far Sketchtember has been a bust for me -I think I've done 4, maybe 5 sketches so far.

Sharing some cards I made. Trying to remember the "share 4 projects" part of the pokeys I made a set of 4 of these, although they were slightly different because I used the reverse part of the "thanks" die cut (which is inked) on other cards. card thanks holographic black rainbow by kirstendrew, on Flickr I made a set of 4 of these, in different colours (blue blending to pink, and blue blending to yellow, and turquoise blending to green). They're all a little different background too because the stencil/stamping was a little random. card thank you flower inking by kirstendrew, on Flickr These 3 I was determined to use some Anita Jeram stamps that I love and coloured. They are a single group of critters, and I cut them apart to use them here. Also, Pink Fresh stamp/stencil/die for the flower frame. card high five slimline anita jeram critters by kirstendrew, on Flickr card thanks slim line cat by kirstendrew, on Flickr card wonderful birthday jeram critters by kirstendrew, on Flickr These used a new concord and 9th die set I bought because I LOVED the loopy frame! Yes, I think I'll use it a lot. card wishing you all the best by kirstendrew, on Flickr And this uses a new Taylored Expressions die I bought because I realized I have many people having babies who need cards, and I had no dies for that! And...loopy frame card new in town by kirstendrew, on Flickr
