Such lovely cards, kitbop. WTG grabbing the Pokey Peas points. Don't forget the 12 card challenge points, too. Off to Flickr to look at them more closely.

kitbop, thanks for posting your 4 projects here. Your cards are beautiful. I love that loopy frame and the cute critters. What did you use to color them? They are done so well and really add to your cards. I'll go look closer in the gallery. Linda, I am sorry DD is still having headaches from her fall. Did she have a concussion? I'm glad you are making a little progress and on only one crutch now, but that still makes it hard to do all the things required of mothers. I hope you continue to heal and are back on 2 good legs soon. grammadee, have a great weekend with the family!

I used to love picking potatoes when they were freshly dug. At home, "spud harvest" didn't begin until the first week in Oct. Then all the schools closed so the kids could help on the farms Did you grow up in Idaho? I Googled "Spud Day" and I guess it is an annual event there: 3rd Saturday in September. Guess we will be a week late!

nylene - no one officially says concussion but with the continued headaches and light sensitivity, it sure seems like it.

It used to be in October, but as the weather has been warmer each year the planting could start earlier and it has moved the harvest into September. I loved that time of year and loved being able to make money picking potatoes. I always picked in a basket with a friend because we were too little to drag the sack behind us in the harness. My older brother was always able to pick in the harness, but I never could.

Good morning! I have actually been scrapbooking. Did an all day event yesterday & made about 9 layouts. Going to share soon. I need to embellish & decide how to journal; they are all from my Disney trip.
I also have to get my old hard drive off my computer & get it to a place that will try to get the photos off it.

cycworker, 9 pages in one day of scrapping. You are speedy. Disney layouts are my all time favorites to scrap. I doubt that I will ever get there again, but maybe the kids will send me some photos. I hope you have success getting the photos off your computer. Linda, how has DD been over the weekend. I hope she is taking it easy and that the headaches have become less debilitating and will soon be gone. I see that the hurricane is heading for your area. Are you all bracing for it or do they not predict it will come that far inland? I am worrying about you every time I watch the news. Stay safe. I have posted my layouts to the Sketchtember threads but will post 4 of them here for Pokey Peas. I am going to try to catch up on comments before the end of the month. This month has slipped away from me.

cycworker - great job getting NINE layouts done - that's a lot! nylene - love your layouts - you do such an amazing job with the die cuts. I especially love the banner on the pool layout and the cars/traffic signal on the driving one. LOVE the pictures of Hailey with her grandparents how has DD been over the weekend. I hope she is taking it easy and that the headaches have become less debilitating and will soon be gone. I see that the hurricane is heading for your area. Are you all bracing for it or do they not predict it will come that far inland? I am worrying about you every time I watch the news. Stay safe. She went orienteering yesterday with her Girl Scout troop but remembered the hat and sunglasses plus it was in a state forest so pretty shady. Today's she's had a good day headache wise also - it was late afternoon before she asked for tylenol. The headaches are worse at school because the lights are so bright plus they are on their chrome books so much. we're about as far inland as one can get in Florida and while we are in the cone of uncertainty - most hurricanes are tropical storms by the time they reach us across land - at most I would expect a Cat One but that would be unusual. I am going to try to catch up on comments before the end of the month. This month has slipped away from me. I just went through the quarterly thread today. I caught up on points yesterday - man, was that a time consuming project.

Happy Monday, Pokeys! Would love to see your pages, cycworker ! Hoping to get some done tomorrow while at the LSS. Note to self: finish putting together those page kits I started a couple of days ago!!!! Hoping your dd's headache free weekend is a harbinger of a better week, Linda . Hoping the hurricane season goes easy on you all. I put together 3 quick cards this morning--two I need to take with me to Calgary later in the week and one dh just told me this morning he needs to drop off this afternoon. Will need to upload to the Gallery later today. We had a busy weekend harvesting the garden. The yield is way down this year due to the stupid weather in the spring/early summer, but the good news is the garden is cleared OFF! Dgs, his dad and the dogs left yesterday afternoon. Dd stayed til this morning b/c her meeting for work today is between here and where they live, so it saved her an extra drive. I still have to trim and package the beets, and also need to do something with the carrots too unruly to go into bags. Think while I have the food processor out for grating them, I will also grate a bunch of zucchini this morning. Will need to bake with the grated carrots, but the zucchini can be frozen for use later. Looking forward to having some additional room in my garage fridge, or at least be able to stack the packaged veggies in there in a more orderly fashion instead of trying to fit them into whatever space is available...

Good afternoon Pokies! Thanks grammadee - I'm hoping the same. That does sound like a busy and productive weekend - how big is your garden? And three cards already this morning? You're off to an awesome start to the day. I've printed off the sketchtember sketches so far and am hoping to get caught up this week - or at least closer to caught up.

grammadee, congrats on getting all the harvest in. Still lots of work to be done, but I'm sure it feels good to have the garden cleared. Linda, I had to chuckle at your comment about adding up points. I tell myself I will keep up with those and comments, but life always seems to get in the way. I'm glad you are not terribly worried about the hurricane. Hopefully it will tame down before it gets to land and that it will not bring a lot of damage. I googled where in the panhandle you are and it looks like not too close to the coast and the predicted path. Hope your state comes through it ok. I spent 2 hours last night catching up on comments. I didn't realize how far behind I was. I just thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the different versions of the Sketches. I still have some in the gallery that need comments. I think I may get one more sketch done before the end of the month, but that will be all. I wish I had been able to do all of them. I have printed them out for later. It has been well over a month since I did a big grocery shopping and I found that I was out of so many canned goods. I did a huge shopping this morning and then realized I would need to carry them all up the stairs by myself. I am doing it in shifts. Most of the heavy canned goods are still in the car and I will bring them up a couple of bags at a time. My knees just can't take those stairs over and over with a heavy load. So while I am resting between loads I can finish the gallery comments. Sending hugs to each of you.

Sorry I've been MIA. Ken's fall this time was a bad one - broken ribs. And it seems to have effected him more mentally and emotionally than physically. Then I've been away for four days for a work retreat. Those are never fun and this one was especially hard. The focus was on transitioning positions since I am bumping into retirement and she has turned the company into an ESOP (employee owned) with a year and half left on her employment contract. She asked each of us where we saw ourselves in a year. When I said it did not see myself at another Director retreat you would have thought I dropped a bomb in the room. Even though for months we have been discussing me cutting back, reducing hours, working from home more and actually switching offices with the person who will be stepping into the CFO role, she said she felt blind-sided! Holy canoli!! Anyway - I have not felt like scrapping at all for several weeks - card making is about all I have done. And - we have decided to build on my daughter and son-in-law's property. That's a whole adventure in and of itself. That's enough "woe is me, poor me" nylene How is your DH doing? Behaving himself I hope. homeschoolmom I hope your DD continues to improve. Did you get the unexcused absence silliness sorted out? kitbop Did I see you are have trouble with your knees? Not fun. How is your guy. Will he be over the boot soon? grammadee You have soooo much energy - can you send me some please? One of the good things about us moving is that I will get to have a garden for the first time in years. Fresh green beans, carrots, lemon cucumbers, corn - OH MY!! joyfulnana Both of our quarterbacks had rough games yesterday didn't they? Well I need to get off here and get back on my work computer. Is anyone interested in a crop on Saturday afternoon/evening?

gramma , I am so sorry about Ken's fall. He needs bubble wrap! I understand about the mental and emotional part of healing. There was a day I thought if they couldn't find help for DH they needed to supply me with a strait-jacket. In 55 years of marriage I have never seen him in such a state. He is now doing much better. It's hard to believe that your work didn't believe you when you have told them you are about ready to retire. The work retreat doesn't sound like it was any fun. Hang in there, friend! I hope the building plans are going well. Hugs to you and hugs to Ken. We have General Conference this weekend, but if the online crop is after 4 and before 6 our time I should be able to hop on. Thanks! I would love to chat with everyone for a little while.

Sign me up for a crop: I too would love to chat! gramma - I'm so sorry Ken fell again. When he wakes up with pain, does he remember what happened and that he has fractured ribs? DH just got home from taking care of his dad. While he was there, clearly bored and depressed, he wrote us a letter (and mailed it) and outlined that *when* (not if, but when, my DH the optimist...) he get's Alzheimers, he will kill himself. I will not be scrapbooking the letter! I countered it by telling him that IF I get Alzheimers, (and I am holding to a positive outlook and NOT predicting myself to get it!) I expect him to take care of me as long as he is comfortable, and then put me in a home, but keep taking pictures of me with the generations to follow so I can be in their memories even if I don't have mine. I also cannot believe that your director was surprised at your plans at work! I can't wait for your stories when you start building and moving It's going to be as good as popcorn die cuts! nylene - I'm very glad your DH is doing better now. When I meet people in hospital who are going to be off their feet for a few weeks, and their spouse is going to have to take care of them, I always always wish the spouse "good luck" as they're leaving. It always gets a laugh because they aren't the sick/injured person. And then I tell them, "no, seriously. I'll be thinking of you". And they laugh again. Except...we all know, right?! I too have very empty pantry shelves. I wait for a sale and then buy cases of the basics like tomato paste. I discovered this morning that we are out of a LOT of things we cook with. But if anyone needs condensed milk, I've got you covered My knees are just a constant pain now. Mainly transitions of standing up and sitting down, it just hurts. Walking is just fine! And I can kneel. But not squat. I'm getting used to it. I guess that's what aging is about - adjusting to new physical states. grammadee - glad your gardening is finished for the year. I made a batch of tomato sauce out of the last of the tomatoes this morning. And I have some little peppers left out there - a second batch that started - and the weather is supposed to warm up for the next couple of weeks so I left them hoping they would grow/ripen.

gramma - I'm so sorry about Ken's fall. I hope the ribs heal quickly and the mental/emotional effects ease. That'll be nice for you to have a garden with the new place - I'm sure it'll be nice being so close to your daughter. Good luck with that whole process. How long do you have before retirement? nylene - yes- take it easy with all those bags of canned goods - they get heavy fast. I'm grateful that there are no outdoor steps here and while we do have stairs inside - everything I need is on the ground floor (upstairs is DD's room, the guest rooms, and DH's hobby space) - my knees aren't a fan of stairs either. Poor dh has been going up to wake DD in the mornings this past week. Our school district has made Wednesday a virtual instruction day and will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Yes, he remembers falling - we just cannot figure out how this one happened. His injuries are on his right side, but when I got to him he was curled up on his left side. I think he might have tripped by stepping on a shoe lace. Taking care of / living with someone with this damned disease does make you feel that way some days. But - he won't, he won't remember how. I love your take on keep taking pictures.

(((((HUGE HUGS))))) to everyone who has had to care for a family member, and/or continues to do so. At dh's aunt's funeral, I spoke to one of his cousins and his wife. She had been quite sick awhile ago: she thinks it is long haul Covid. I was telling her how sorry I was that she had been ill, and he chipped in to say I should feel sorry for HIM. I told him I did, but not half as much as I would feel sorry for HER if he had been the sick one. Glad your dh is feeling better, nylene and that you didn't have to order that straight jacket. Have loved seeing your pages and your comments. kitbop, we have the veggies off the garden, but the work with the tomatoes will go on for a couple of months until I am sick of them. I plan to take a bunch to Calgary when I go. They are best eaten fresh and the kids & grandkids may as well enjoy them. And that will be one big batch I don't need to put into sauce or lasagna... gramma that didn't sound like a retreat. More like a boot camp. I think some people only hear what they want to hear and obviously that woman did not want to hear your plans to be gone. Can't believe she felt "blind sided". When our college offered an early retirement incentive program, I think I was the first one to apply, and people were surprised. "I thought you LIKED your job". I did like my job. But I was tired. And they wanted to PAY me to leave. Hello! Sorry I won't be able to join you on the crop this weekend. I am heading to Calgary on Thursday. Dgd, who lives in BC, is playing in a hockey tournament in Calgary Friday/Saturday/Sunday. I will see her and her mom and the two families who live in the Calgary area. Will see lots of hockey and will be busy visiting with everyone.

safe travels grammadee - sounds like we'll be seeing more of your awesome hockey pages soon storm prep continues here - all the linemen and trucks that have come in from out of state are staging at our fairgrounds so they'll be ready for storm cleanup. my MRI for Thursday was cancelled and rescheduled for mid October as the hospital will be closed except for essential services. Hopefully I can spend the rest of the week scrapping and we don't lose power or internet. We're expecting tropical storm force winds with possible hurricane force gusts and perhaps as much as 10" of rain. Looks like the current track puts us on the west side of the storm which is usually less severe than the east.

gramma sending hugs to you and Ken. Linda I hope your power and internet hold out. That is a lot of rain. We have beautiful fall weather this week. The leaves have turned, but it is sunny and supposed to be +28C today. nylene your pages are beautiful. grammadee and my book club was rescheduled because our hostess got a bad cold, but we still met for supper and she gave us carrots and a carrot cake! Dean's dad has officially moved in with my BIL. We moved his bed on Sunday. They're hoping to be able to list his house in the next couple of weeks. Here are some of my Daily Pages from this month. You have love in the gallery! Linda , please let us know how you are doing. I'm sure you are getting some big winds at the very least. I hope everyone around you is safe. gramma, my mom began having a lot of falls and couldn't remember what caused the fall. After an MRI they found that she was having little strokes, TIA's. Her mental abilities, already diminished, really went downhill. I hope they can find a way to help your DH to stop the falls. I have great empathy for you and for him. I am sending you lots of big hugs.

justjac - love the journalling pages - those quotes on the last one are AWESOME and very relatable! MARIBETHR - wow - you've gotten a ton of those recipe pages done and they all look great! We got very lucky as far as Ian went - the track shifted so far east that we're getting less rain than expected and while it's a bit windy, I think only the gusts are tropical storm force. Some small branches down overnight but nothing of note. Further south? they were NOT lucky at all and the flooding especially is devastating. Ian was a big, powerful storm when it hit and is likely to strengthen again before it makes landfall in Georgia or South Carolina tonight or over the weekend. Today is our 23rd Anniversary - we don't really have any plans but DH surprised me with a 'new' sewing machine - it's a 1923 Singer and absolutely gorgeous. We don't usually exchange anniversary gifts so it was especially unexpected.

Thanks nylene It's electric with knee controls I have a 1928 Jones treadle already I love the design on it. I have a 1902 Model 27 Singer treadle on which I learned to sew. Mom made my wedding dress on it. I has such similar paint design to this. I just love it. My parents bought me an electric (Kenmore)when I got married in 1967 and mom bought herself an electric. I now own the treadle, mom's electric and a Bernina I bought as I was teaching my girls to sew. What a great gift for your Anniversary.

I also have my mum's sewing machine - a late 1960s Singer Fashion Mate and the Singer Futara that we got in 2007 (it also does embroidery but that feature has been sadly underutilised). I really didn't need another machine but I love this one and am considering making it a handcrank.
