Saw this cutie today. She was a total professional when I asked her to pose and smile for the October ladies! (Even threw in a wink for free.)

I’ve never done this project but I kind of want to this year. I bought the AE Halloween kit & the studio calico one. Not sure if I will do a separate album or just in my PL. I doubt it would be daily but we’ll see. Seems like some days we have a bunch of fallish stuff going on and others nothing. For those who do this project & PL do you include an insert or something else? I like the idea of finding prompts online. I’ve never done it before but this year I’m doing October daily and I don’t want a separate album so I am doing my regular weeks of PL (12x9) but adding a 12x6 insert for each week as well to have enough room for the stories. I’m also starting 10/1 so I made my last week of PL just be mon-fri and then I’m doing this weekend Sat & sun the 1&2nd on one 12x9 (no insert since it’s just two days). I’ll have plenty of content because we did a lot this weekend. I’ll re-evaluate in November if I liked how that worked or if something needs to be tweaked.

I have a bunch of little bones and tiny translucent pumpkins and spiders and eyeballs for them to play with in a bin with black beans so they can decorate around their Haunted Houses. You are the best teacher ever. RE: Hocus Pocus. I don't think I ever watched the first one. Do I need to? I can't remember. There is a LOT of hype over #2, that's for sure. So today we got out our Halloween bins. We have two of the really big like 20 gallon bins. One has costumes and one has decorations. I also had a box of stuff in the basement that I don't believe I have opened in 20 years because it was behind something. It had a few pumpkin tealight holders that I got on clearance after Halloween when we lived in our old apartment (seriously like 2001). That was a nice jackpot. We had so much fun going through everything and putting up some of the decorations. I took a bunch of photos of the cats in costumes (we have a chicken hat and a pippy longstocking hat). And my daughter tried on most of the costumes. I have got to figure out how to get that in the album. So many photos... I cut out the cauldron with the portrait and spent an hour pissing around with the slime ooze for the top and finally gave up and just cut the dang thing by hand. For some reason the file had a slice right through the middle and I could not get rid of that line for the life of me. I'm going to have to watch a video or something. Hope everyone had a fun and crafty weekend!

I think I’m just going to aim for 31 stories of October. Daily is too much commitment lol.

First off, it is a really cute my movie and everyone should see it, second there are things in the second one that are understandable by themselves, but seeing the first will give you an appreciation for them. Lots of nods to the first one. We really enjoyed it.

McD's update // The official Canadian social media for McDonald's confirms the return of the Boo Buckets: Whereas McDonald's USA just announced and is currently promoting the Cactus Plant Flea Market collab for an exclusive adult Happy Meal: There's no way only Canada gets the Boo Buckets so I think US customers can breathe a sign of relief. Nothing for France.

I think I’m just going to aim for 31 stories of October. Daily is too much commitment lol. Same. In one of Serena Bee's videos she showed where she included 2-3 stories in one page. It was a pocket page and each pocket had a story. I thought that was a great idea and I'm going to do it as well. No way I'm getting 31 pages in the Simple Stories album I chose. Lots of nods to the first one. Assignment accepted. I have no idea what this is. It is so bizarre. But I do like the idea of something fun for adults. Give me a toy with my $20+ you pick two from Panera as their prices are totally out of control anymore.

I have no idea what this is. It is so bizarre. But I do like the idea of something fun for adults Cactus Plant Flea Market is a well-known designer in streetwear, particularly big name collabs. We're talking Nike, Comme des Garçons, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, Stussy, Pharrell Williams, etc. Very graphic and bold. I work in branding and the way Cynthia Lu has launched and developed her brand is just incredible (but I shan't bore you with that tale). This adult Happy Meal is definitely geared towards Millennials and Gen Z. Those toys will be collector's items. If you have a sneakerhead in the fam', they are likely already queuing or getting ready to queue at McD's. Not gonna lie, if these were available in my country, I'd already have one in my hands by now... Grimace looks adorable in that CPFM design.

I'm doing the Daily part very succinctly and only highlighting the stories I want to keep a "proper" memory. I plan on inserting a flyleaf type of page with all the days listed and just one-liners of anecdotes for each of them. Behind that, I'll tauck the "chapters" of the month AKA the limited number of spreads with the detailed stories I'm particularly interested in documenting. I think it's a happy solution to combine the Daily with the more intentional, selective approach to the project. Currently editing photos and having fun rediscovering some digital film strips I have. It's making me play with different formats and wanting to include more smaller-sized inserts vs full pages for some photo sequences. Loving this different side of creative fun!

What movies/tv shows/episodes do you guys watch every year? Or have on your lists this year?
Last year we did 31 movies for 31 days. It was filled with some we'd both seen, a few one of us had seen, and a handful neither of us had. It was fun.. but a LOT. My bf is out of town quite a bit this month so that's definitely off the table. (although for you DD-ers he asked me to do a Hallmark movie every Sunday from the end of Oct through Christmas so now I've gotta figure out all my favs/the 'good' ones to plan out 🥰 )
I was thinking of doing 13 movies for us with a sprinkling of all my favorite old ones he hates on the nights he's out of town. There's only so many times I can subject him to Attack of the Puppet People before he leaves me 😂

You guys, I just don't do much pop culture these days. I'm GenX so we are pretty much against all that stuff anyway (ha ha ha, so not true. I paid $28 for a bottle of Chanel Very Vamp nail polish in 1996. It was like 6 hours of work for that amount of money).
And I don't think we've been much of a movie-watching family in October. It's just so busy. I'm like so out of the loop.
I guess I'm a bad parent. She's been indoctrinated with all things Star Wars and most things Disney. Oops.
So, I'm wondering if seeing December Daily stuff just annoys you right now? I'm like, IT'S OCTOBER! Give me Fall! I never felt this way in the past but now I'm not into it. Super scrolling past it all in Instagram.

Super scrolling past it all in Instagram. I’m with you- we didn’t watch Halloween movies as a family. I just texted dd1 and asked her what one’s she ever watched growing up - I remember them watching Halloween town while they sorted and traded their candy. She said just that and random Disney and Nickelodeon Halloween specials but no movies. Christmas has always been my true love (lol) but I agree that I’m like, “ not right now” with it this year! Lol It’s my first year documenting October and I’m all about the fall vibes.

So today's October Daily story is: one dog rolled on dead frog, so a bath was needed. Our downstairs bathroom is *almost* complete after 14 MONTHS. The shower was built specifically to wash dogs, so this was the inaugural shower. I didn't take any pics while washing dogs, but I did have my before and after pics. The story of today! oct3 oct3part2

But I feel you on the expensisve nail polish front... If it's any consolation, McD's appealing to both the "hip" young - and getting closer to middle age now! - adults + gearing up the nostalgia factor with the Boo Buckets in the same month is definitely a PR coup to preemptively ease minds and avoid huge boycotts as they are to be featured prominently as one of the disgraceful and appalling Qatar 2022 Football/Soccer World Cup. It's about to get messy for many brands involved. McD's confirmed their contract extension with FIFA in spring 2020. They've been planning a counter-offensive ever since. It's smart but very calculated business. Watch several mass appeal title sponsors take a serious hit on social media once this World Cup begins. I know Northern Americans don't follow the sport that much but despite the massive repeated human rights violations in Qatar, over 5 billion viewers will tune in. They're getting ahead in the US and CA market because the appeal for soccer isn't quite as big there. They know that's where they have a huge market they need to appease most before the shit hits the fan...

What movies/tv shows/episodes do you guys watch every year? Or have on your lists this year? We just watched Mean Girls (although it's not a Halloween-centric movie) because it's... We usually pick something from the Hitchcock catalogue, a horror release from the past 2 years we haven't seen yet, favourite classics (can't miss out on the Addams family), something fantasy, something super witchy, etc. I find categories are more fun to pick from as a couple. Oh, and we're 100% rewatching Constantine this October. It's been set since... I want to say March-April? My SO is from Spain so I must recommend Witching & Bitching if you like slightly mad and did-I-accidentally-ingest-some-drugs-before-watching-this? scenarios. It's really entertaining:

blemon, I think there are 2 reasons for DD right now. Design teams are pushing to sell their kits and done by December is going on to make people feel less guilty about buying all this stuff. That being said I am all in for Halloween but I have a Christmas page posting later this month and I still need to eventually finish last years album.

We watch all the good and terrible Halloween movies Disney+ has to offer, plus the classics.like Frankenstein, Dracula, Invisible Man, Creature From the Black Lagoon, Cat People, Freaks, the Haunting. We also throw in Scream and Halloween and whatever strikes our fancy from TCM and our local theater.
We love our scary movies!

Gross. A dead frog? This is a good idea. Maybe we'll get into it. I fear we will break down and watch Andor. They have been reading a Star Wars book Catalyst, the Jyn Erso story that takes place before Rogue 1. So they want to finish the book, watch the Andor series, then Rogue One again. I may not win a battle to watch spooky movies.

Misfortune Cookie fortune update: "Did it ever occur to you that you are the problem?" Why, yes it did!
They're a German company, so I feel that they should be find-able in Europe.
We've been watching the paranormal comedy series "Los Espookys" on HBO which is oddball and totally my kind of show. It's partly in Spanish and partly in English with subtitles for both, so it's educational. 😄 I'm surprised at how much Spanish I still understand.

I got out my Halloween bin and decorated yesterday. Creepy doll warning! I have a bag of nightmare dolls to find new homes for. I impaled a Barbie head on the tree, as one does. The black light is to make the uranium glass glow but I'm going to trade out that juicer for a candy dish or some cool glasses. My in laws have a lot of uranium glass that I get to sell. Most of the stuff on the tree was from them too. And the dolls. http://instagram.com/p/CjO7ZdYp-E2 I have 3 movies (on DVD) out to possibly watch: Taika Waititi's mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows Nightmare Before Christmas (Halloween or Christmas or both?) and Coraline <3 also Goonies, which feels a little Halloweenish. We rewatched Beetlejuice a couple of years ago. I leave the horror to my husband.

Oh, and we're finally going to watch the "Halloweentown" movie(s), since the town where it was filmed is nearby and a tourist attraction this time of year (also need to go there).
We got married the day it came out, so didn't really pay attention. My nephews have fond memories of it though.

Well, dh randomly turned out ghostbusters, saying didn’t you say you’ve never seen this? And I thought oh I could document for October daily since I don’t watch any movies. Well… I did not last long. That is one boring and stupid movie! Lol sorry to anyone that loves it. 😂

sleepingbooty Luna is beyond adorable. I can’t even with that face and the wink. Super interesting on the World Cup drama. I’m in the US and haven’t been following it but clearly need to check it out. Not surprising shitty US companies are being shitty. I didn’t even realize it was in Qatar this year. Yikes. blemon I am really enjoying Andor. My expectations were not high but it's better than I thought it would be. No spooky goodness in the show though. I’m hoping to catch Hocus Pocus II some time in the next week to get my Halloween on. I scooped up Traci Reed’s Goldenrod fall collection www.tracireed.com/journal/goldenrod and have been playing around with some of the digitals, making my own journaling cards and such. It’s fun with both fall and Halloween elements and a touch of sarcasm. I’m working on my shadows with mixed success.

The Toy Story of Terror is good, and the Lego Star Wars one is funny as well. Nothing actually scary, but cute and short. I also highly recommend the Muppets Haunted Mansion.

Seeing Freaks on the big screen would be wild. Do you know anything about the Cinema of Horrors drive in at the Clark County fairgrounds? Trying to decide if I'm cool enough to visit the Black Lagoon pop-up bar at Hey Love. I don't think I am. 😄 Portland is one of 9 cities to have it this year. I might just stick with Ravens Manor.

I just wrote out a list of things I want to put in the album and have 18 things so far plus the 5 already done/in progress.
I think that’s a good start!
Also!!! The Dracula costume for Charlie (surly calico) has arrived. It is glorious. As soon as I’m able to get to Target, I’ll pick up Milo’s witch hat.
