These scenes are amazing! How good are we at these rolling road blocks! I was thinking just that as I was catching up on the day's events on my new favorite YouTube channel (The Royal Family Channel)... those rolling road blocks. wow. We have a lot of important people here in the DC area, and many more who think they're important, and some of those even get motorcades. And that British rolling roadblock is sadly not the way they do things here. I live right by a major east-west road that goes from DC into Virginia. But it's not an interstate so it has a lot of cross streets with traffic lights. I have been stuck at one of those crossings more than once by a motorcade because they stop all traffic for ages before the motorcade actually gets there. We need to send our road block crew over to you for some lessons!

Anyone watching TV this afternoon? Me too. I made sure to do my grocery shop and daily walk early, so I could be home for the procession from Buck Palace to Westminster.

Anyone watching TV this afternoon? Yes. I can’t imagine how they are all feeling. My dad died in July and we had a very private funeral but it was still incredibly difficult. How must it feel to have the world watching you!

I wonder if @gar went to London No, I’ve got Mum in Law here for a couple of days and it would have been too much but I might go to Windsor tomorrow to look at all the flowers and take James with us to help him make sense of it all.

Definitely watching the tv. Actually I hadn’t initially realised today would be such a big event.

They spoke to 2 women from Warwickshire (not totally sure where you live but I know it’s in that neck of the woods), I did wonder if it might be you! I do wish I could visit somewhere but I’m too far away.

I have it on while I am "working". I keep going back to the screen to watch. I just have to say when your mom or dad passes, most just want to curl up and not think. Seeing the ceremony this morning and the pomp and circumstance, for lack of the right words, is just bringing me to tears. I can't imagine what the royal family is going through. All the emotions. You just have to keep going. The military, the choir, the respect.
Because I am a dull American, who is the male next to Princess Anne? Is that her husband?

I am watching now - it looks like Andrew is NOT wearing his uniform. is this where he had permission to wear it, or is it some other time he had permission?

This is not the event he was permitted to wear uniform. That is the Vigil, which will take place later - not exactly sure when, I can't seem to find that info right now.

I have so many thoughts running around my head.
Comments about dusting off the protocol books, as this is new to pretty much everyone involved.
What was going through the heads of the pallbearers.
Guards 24/7, changing every 20 minutes.
The sound of Big Ben and the guns, the sound of marching on the gravel. The bells as the family is leaving Westminster.
All so very moving.

Well that was something else. Quite amazing. I think I was holding my breath for a lot of it. Oh my goodness! That was intense! I was so engrossed that I shouted at my DH for putting the kettle on in the middle of it all! I was worried that the coffin might fall as it wasn’t central on that gun carriage. William looked very focused but I thought King Charles was very distracted at times. What a tough day for them all. They still have the funeral to get through.

They were apparently very close and she looks as they she hasn’t stopped crying since the moment she passed away.

When you look at the scene now, with the vigil having started, IMVHO it's only right that Andrew should be in uniform in respect for The Queen when he takes his turn. He would stand out like a sore thumb if he were to wear morning dress (morning dress as in a tail coat suit, not mourning dress as in black clothing) and, again IMVHO, would be a distraction.
Can I be more of a pain in the neck than I normally am and ask if anyone is commemorating these events through scrapbooking pages and using the abbreviation for Her Majesty, then please use the correct form.
QEII is the monarch.
QE2 is a ship.

How stunning does the Crown look. On a humorous note, there was a documentary aired on the BBC during the Jubilee about the Crown Jewels. There was a presenter talking to The Queen about the crowns. He asked her if it was possible that a particular Crown was turned around so that we could see the main diamond. He was being very delicate and careful. She thrust her hands forward, grabbed the Crown, turned it, and plonked it down! She said “this is how I handle it”! Loved The Queen’s humour.

I thought Catherine looked wrung out today too. They are grieving but still have so many public engagements.
On another note - I think Eugenie is pregnant, I noticed when they were looking at flowers the other day, and seeing her today I'm convinced.
