since when does anyone need "proof" about a personal opinion? This is a dinky little message board, I don't work for the media and I'm not doing an Oprah interview with my "explosive claims about the royal family" anytime soon...so take a seat. And since when did having botox/fillers become the crime of the century? I'll bet pretty much all of those royal women (yes my favourite, Catherine included!) have them. Although based on how grief stricken Catherine and the other ladies look, they've been too busy mourning to make beauty appointments...

There is a report that one of the distant royal relatives (perhaps Lady Gabriella Kingston) passed out during the service earlier today. Honestly I always worry that someone will during these things. Standing still a long time can be problematic, especially if it was warm in there (I have no idea the temps in London today). So did a guard

Poor guy! That could have been very ugly, being on the steps. Hope he is ok! And the guy behind him, torn between catching him and staying in form.

How long are their rotations? when I was watching live the commentators said 20 minutes. That is what I thought I heard, but that didn’t seem long enough to pass out. But of course, I have never had to stand so still for so long in such an elaborate ensemble. I imagine I wouldn’t make it 2 minutes myself.

From what I read they are working in 6hr shifts but each rotation of guarding is only 20 mins long. It didn't say how many guards are on each 6 hour shift but it seems that each one will do multiple 20 mins spots during that shift. So maybe they do 20 mins each hour for 6 hours? In full uniform, that would be quite physically taxing. Some of them look like they are a bit older too.

I watched a full video of the incident and I felt so sorry for him. He weaved a couple of times, one time stepping down to the floor. Both times he recovered. Then he just toppled over. My heart goes out to him. It is a huge honor to guard the Queen. I hope he is okay.

I don’t know if I will get up for Her Majesty’s funeral because I lost my ever loving mind at Princess Diana’s. I can’t cry that hard again. It’s not even my family but I always felt safe with The Queen. She would always look out for us.

I don’t think I’d last 5 minutes standing that still!

The Archbishops of Canterbury and York are in high viz jackets talking to people in the queue. What a nice touch and even this non-believer would be happy to exchange a word or two with them.

I believe this is why you see people on parade rocking back and forward very slightly, to keep the blood moving. I expect those at the catafalque are expected to stand stock still. It must be very difficult given the circumstances.

I’ve never heard of replicas being used. I’d imagine that’s unlikely. If they weren’t used then, when would they be?

The close-up of the crown is amazing...do we think that's actually the real one? Or just a really good copy for ceremonial purposes? I couldn't find an exact value...but one site said the centre diamond alone is worth £400 million I am going with 'it's the real thing' - If you don't use it for occasions like this, when do you use it? They do have plenty of security for it!

Well I assume they wouldn't ever make the knowledge that it wasn't the real one public.
I'm not claiming is is a fake...I was just thinking that to have one of the most expensive items in the world that could be worth over £1 Billion bumping along the road seems like an extraordinarily huge risk. When I was googling just now a few sites said there was no precise value of the crown jewels because they weren't insured!

When I was googling just now a few sites said there was no precise value of the crown jewels because they weren't insured! They are probably not insured as it is impossible to insure them. No insurance company would be able to afford the payout and they couldn't be replaced anyway. It is the same with the Vatican Museum - many things there are not insured as they are priceless and irreplacable.

My understanding is that it is the real one. The Crown of Scotland, that dates from the 1500s, was delivered to Holyrood under high security for the lying at rest at St. Giles. I see no reason for a replica to be used.

Or was done bc that is where she was at the time of her death?

It gave Scotland the chance to do a fabulous send off and say goodbye more fully I feel.

It would never have happened had she died elsewhere. I also agree, and with a lot of reports, that she felt she was at home and able to slip away in the place she loved. What more can anyone ask.

I agree, it was totally fitting that she died in Scotland. I also think that it would have been her wish. It’s good to see the Prince and Princess of Wales at Sandringham meeting people. They are being very open and honest. William said that yesterday bought back tough memories and Catherine said she couldn’t read many of the tributes because she would cry. It’s good to see them talking and being honest. Also good to see Princess Anne and Prince Edward greeting people around the country.

Isn’t it moving seeing all the “common” people (of which I am one, commoner not visitor) stopping at the catafalque and bowing or curtsying. I’m so glad people aren’t just filing past like gawpers; everyone seems genuinely moved.

joelise, I was glad to see them at Sandringham too - they have obviously tried hard not to leave anyone out. lesley, yes very moving, very genuine and emotional for most people it seems.

I did wonder that some people didn’t seem to stop at the coffin, but then realised that, especially at the busier times, they had plenty of time whilst coming down the stairs to actually view the coffin and have their own thoughts.

I never understood the hatred against Megan , I truly believe that her skin color is the cause of most of it and I give a pass to Charles on this one because he’s probably physically and emotionally exhausted. I saw this on twitter today.
I find it all fascinating, as an American we've never been truly united in a very long time. There's aspects to her reign that were not great like apartheid. It seemed like there were very few protestors, but was surprised by them being arrested.
Hey, we are a much shittier country by far. Mass killings with AR-15's, it's what we do.

A friend has just linked to a photo of the catafalque to show her cousin who is one of Yeoman Guards standing at the front. Wow!
