I am working on pulling the October BOBW kit from my stash! Anyone else working on it or have it done? Where do you find the info on the BOBW? I looked on her blog and nothing is there? Here is the affiliate link shrsl.com/2db89 for November. (November's kit is out because she's using October's kit) Here's the stuff she adds about BOBW kt from youtube www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE61FT6EU1oAbout the Best of Both Worlds Scrapbooking Kit: Best of Both Worlds is not a subscription kit, but rather a kit assembled for each month that you gives you the freedom to order it through an affiliate link, use the shopping list to shop locally if you are lucky enough to have a local scrapbook store (please support them if you do!), or to shop your stash for similar items and make your own kit. You're not tied into any subscription. You don't have to buy anything you know you won't use or duplicate anything you already own. You can add more of something you love and want to use for a bigger project. You can jump in and out as your time and budget suits. But all the while, there is the ease of a kit curated for you and accompanying videos to spark ideas for how you might put those supplies together. You can scrap along and make very similar pages or you can go totally on your own track. Everyone is welcome around here! (Well everyone except meanies. Kindness always.) For disclosure and clarity: I choose all the items that go into the kit and I pay for my kit each month. Nothing here is sponsored and I don't accept payment to put something specific into a kit. I do use affiliate links for the kit shopping list, and the commission from those sales makes all these videos possible. And of course, this isn't just my hobby, it's my job, and that means any time I scrapbook on the internet it's considered advertising and I need to make sure you know that. Thank you for watching my advertising!

How's everyone doing on the Use your stash series?
I've watched both the stamping and the stencils class, really enjoyed watching the videos. Now I want to sit down and try some of these layouts.
IDK who it was but THANK YOU to whoever shared how to re-hydrate your stencil paste/spackle whatever its called. I had bought a jar years ago and after that thread I checked it and was sorta dried out too. I added the distilled water to the jar and let it soak for a few days and its usable again, so thank you for that tip!

How's everyone doing on the Use your stash series? I've watched all 4 videos and made 4 layouts for the stamping series. And picked up some new techniques that I'll use going forward. I've watched 3 videos and made three layouts for the stencil series - the final one is on this week's to-do list. I had never stencilled before (well not since I stenciled furniture in the 80s as a teen) so all that is new to me.

How's everyone doing on the Use your stash series? I've watched the stamping series, but after finally getting access to the stencil series I haven't had a chance to watch yet. Just last night I stamped a 3.5x12 border to use on a layout. I didn't do it as randomly as Shimelle did, but it turned out much better than previous attempts at stamping a background. I haven't finished the entire layout yet, but so far I like how it turned out.

I have watched all of the videos and completed one layout for the stamp class. I have also made two additional stamped backgrounds.
Last month was very busy, and this one is shaping up to be that way as well. I am hoping to create a few more layouts in the coming weeks.

How's everyone doing on the Use your stash series? I finished up the stamping class and watched the first stencil video, but haven't actually done anything yet with it.

i have watched all the videos, and applied one stamping class to one LO and one stenciling class to another. I don't often try to recreate a page like the one she does for a class, but love to see her demo techniques and hear her explain why she makes the choices she does. I swear that she is in my head when I go to finish ANY page, though: gotta have 3 clusters, 3 colours, large/medium/small elements...

I hadn't seen that tip, so thank you for reposting it! I know I have an orange paste that is on it's last legs so I will definitely be trying this soon.

I used regular water to do the same with some gesso-type medium one time and it went moldy. ETA-weird copy, I know it was oh yvonne that posted the comment. Sorry!

I made four layouts for the stamping videos but forgot to post one of them🤦🏻♀️ Tomorrow!
I’ve started one of the stenciling layouts. Time to get back at it!
Loving the series!
I re-hydrated many of my Inka-Golds. Some required a great deal of elbow grease and replenishing the hot water that was suggested. Was so worth it! I was successful with the odd acrylic too.

Shimelle is offering discounts on selected classes over the next week. Each day she puts up a new class offer which is then valid for the next 24 hours. I meant to post yesterday but completely forgot, so the first offer is no longer available, but the day 2 offer is. The current class is half price on the Half and Half class. You can find it on her blog here. It's on sale for US$ 7.50. New offers will be posted each day until the end of the week on her website here.

Anyone else having the same problem? Shimelle's website is old school. No https:// (secure connection) available. However, not an issue when checking out because she uses Paypal redirection (which is always https/secure). You may need to enable non-secure connections or add an exception for www.shimelle.com to your browser.

Probably my favorite batch of finished layouts from her. The format works especially well if you have lovely papers you still want to see a lot of and not get too covered, or PP’s with large prints you don’t want obscured. I think I’ll end up using these sketches when I eventually get around to using my beloved October Afternoon papers.

We totally need Peas to post their personal mini reviews of each class that goes on sale! I thought about doing that, but then... didn't? As someone who has taken most of her classes any review I give should be taken with a grain of salt. I really enjoyed Half and Half. The layouts I made from it are some of my favourite, and it really got me out of the habit of always reaching for white cardstock for my background, something which I've now carried into my other pages. While you might think there are only so many ways you can make a half and half background work, I thought there was a decent variety of page designs, including a couple of different designs for double page spreads and one pocket page. Here's a couple of pages I made in the class:

The next discount is up, on Start with a Sketch. It's reduced from US$30 to US$20. The posts is here: Start with a SketlchIf you've followed her lives on Youtube for a while you've probably come across variations on several of these sketches, especially her grid layouts. She does include some less blocky sketches, and on around half of them shares how to turn these single page sketches into a double page or, in one instance, a pocket page. There are some 4x6 photos but she also uses a lot of smaller photo sizes, predominately 3x4. I've only done around half of the sketches in this class, and still have the rest on my to do list. I also haven't shared completed pages online for this class. If you like Shimelle's sketches then you'd probably enjoy this, I think it's pretty good value as there are three videos for each of the 15 sketches.

I missed the half-n-half discount because I'm not checking in here very much this week, but thanks for the link to the sketches class Chinagirl828 - I bought it and look forward to it when I get home.

The next discount is up, on Start with a Sketch. It's reduced from US$30 to US$20. As you would well know, our exchange rate is CRAP at the moment. $1 USD = $1.60 AUD. So all of a sudden the $20 class is really $32. As much as I would love to do this one, I think I'm going to give it a miss. That's quite a few kits I could be buying instead. I probably would have done the half and half one if I'd seen it when it was discounted. I'll make sure to check every day! Thanks for the post.

Y'all. I gave in and got the stencil class. I figure $5 and maybe then I will use all my stencils I've collected. Now to figure out how to get registered for the message board over there. Just coming back over here, with my head hung in shame. Its been 20 days and I still don't have access to the class. I've emailed. I've messaged on FB. Crickets. I knew better. I did. The Peas told me their horror story. But no. I gave in and succumbed to peer pressure and bought the Stencil Class when I *knew* better. Signed, Your friend who is now $5 broker and no class, Mom

If she posts them at a consistent time each day, the new class offer should be up around 9am for us. I have given up on expecting consistent from Shimelle. I purchased the sketch class at the discount. And she has gifted me the patterned paper one, but I don't make any plans based on her projected times. I just check her site from time to time and am happily surprised when there is a new video available for one of my classes.
