I got my stamp this weekend - yay!
I've decided against the JYC for now - I just have too much on my plate this year

Oh yay! Lots of scrappy friends checking in already.
While I am good about posting layouts on her forum for other classes, I don't think I ever posted any of my JYC creations last year (my first year) over there. They will all go on Instagram though. And here as well.
Now I need to finish decorating the house so I can move on to more important things, like choosing my supplies.😊

I haven’t signed up for JYC, and won’t this year, but I’m very interested in doing it next year. I’ll definitely be following along in this thread to see what you all create this season!

Hi Sarah - I'm there as well (GillT) and just spotted familiar friends from here jeremysgirl and Charwee as I glanced through. I guess there are others too - sorry I didn't look that closely. I will admit to not really posting over there once I've established that I *could if I wanted to* ;-) I don't find that forum interface that user friendly or particularly easy to read so am far more likely to post here. I can't believe it's almost upon us. It was so nice spotting other Peas in Shimelle's forum today! I don't I'll be there much either, but it's nice to drop in from time to time.

Shimelle has updated her forum with 2022 JYC stuff. I am excited to begin this week! Who else is taking the class with me? 😊 I'm in again for this year although I almost never post anything on the forum there. I'm really looking forward to working on my Dec album this year.

I don't post, but I'm a member. I might do a little here and there, but I'm definitely not doing a daily thing. I did one last year, and I've done them other years, but this year I'm taking things at a more relaxed pace.

Hi, you guys, I just popped to b!@#h about Ali, so I got tagged here too. I'm going to try to at least do the journaling. No guarantee I'll actually scrapbook anything, but after some of the posts on this thread, I thought maybe it would help me get some Christmas spirit this year. Anyway, it was good to see you guys over there. But if I post, it'll probably be here.

You guys, I'm new to JYC and I can't seem to find today's information. I thought she said it was going live at 2 pm UK time, which is 9 am here EST. I also expected to get an email. Is she running late? Or have I got a glitch?

Is she running late? Or have I got a glitch? Her Live was on time. I clicked on a link that I was t sure what it was, and she was there in the middle already. Her forums are a mess imo, and very confusing to navigate. If I don’t leave a tab open to go directly to the right thread then it takes ages for me to find the posts. As it was, I could see her live in the imbedded video on the post, but couldn’t join the chat which was on YT I think. The normal navigation buttons I usually have weren’t showing.

But I have a question for all of you...do you follow her prompts every day or do you do your own thing on some days? How do you approach it?

But I have a question for all of you...do you follow her prompts every day or do you do your own thing on some days? How do you approach it? I signed up for JYC when she started it (2010?). I get the emails, read through them and think, "oh, this is a great prompt, I should make this page" and then don't do anything. So yeah, I'm no help. That being said, if I were to actually start this project, I'd pick and choose which ones spoke to me and create off of those prompts. It is completely unrealistic for me to think I could do a prompt a day because I'm lazy and would much rather watch crafty videos than craft.

I found the spoiler where she gives the theme of the daily prompt. Most should work, but there are a couple I will twist around a bit. I'm something of a rule follower plus, I'm trying to really get as much out of this experience as I can. I was able to come up with good journaling for today, though, and a pic I took of the sunrise went really well with it. And is fitting with her theme.

The second year, I followed the prompts and I love the mix of old and new stories in that album.
Now I use her prompts to inspire my photography and prompt stories I might want to include. I really appreciate how much work she puts into this project. I also appreciate that buying the class in 2007 still gets me access. (which means Ali probably has access too since she took the class long before she branded December Daily!)

I finally figured out where it was. I have a meeting here shortly so I had to pause. But I have a question for all of you...do you follow her prompts every day or do you do your own thing on some days? How do you approach it? I’ve done both. I’m so happy about the spoiler list this year. The prompt for the 10th is perfect for our plans on the 9th. I’ll just swap those prompts. There are a few prompts she’s always had since I started in 2015 like one about the weather. That’s one that gets pushed and pulled all over my album because it’s a nice filler page. If I have an event happening, I like for it to go on that date so I shuffle things around again. My JYC albums are ones I look through over and over again each year. I never in a million years thought my Christmas albums would be my favorites!

I do not like the forums. I was actually able to find the spoiler list. Thank you!
I use the prompts as an option if I do not have something else for the day. My children are now adults that do not live here, so I have a lot less daily stories, so the prompts help fill some space.
I actually wasn't going to do December Daily/JYC this year and decided yesterday to do it.

I usually respond to the JYC prompts in my Day One journal each evening and then go back to those notes when I'm building my album later. (or not). I tend to work from the photos first and then fill in with journaling I might have done. I think I've only followed the prompts closely once or twice. The events and the photos being chronological is more important to me. jeremysgirl the only rule of JYC is to do what works for you! Writing about the prompts in a private journal is how Shimelle got started during her season of not feeling the holiday magic. The scrapbooking came later. If writing is helpful to you and scrapbooking is not right now it's totally OK not to make pages right now (or ever). I think the other rule of JYC is that things will be late but in the end the forever access to the class is worth far more than the class costs. If a prompt is late for your time zone and schedule there are crafty videos from many past years you can watch and the spoiler prompt list is a nice new addition.

But I have a question for all of you...do you follow her prompts every day or do you do your own thing on some days? How do you approach it? I do a hybrid of DD and JYC, telling one story per spread/day, and I use the JYC prompts to either give me some guidance when I'm feeling uninspired, or when I need to fill a gap. As someone else mentioned, I have also included the weather prompt on all sorts of dates in my past albums, as it's a really good fill in at any point during the season.

If I have an event happening, I like for it to go on that date so I shuffle things around again. This is what I'm planning to do. I don't have many events, but I do have a few. Last year with DD, I also did a pic a day and then added pages at the end with pictures from our Christmas gatherings with family. So extra pictures. I actually wasn't going to do December Daily/JYC this year and decided yesterday to do it. Aww...this is awesome. And you know, my living child is 22 now and lives on her own. Jeremy's kids are getting older too and don't live with us either. I feel like I need the Christmas magic even more now than I did when they were younger. Back then, everything was magical. Now I have to look for it and appreciate it. If writing is helpful to you and scrapbooking is not right now it's totally OK not to make pages right now (or ever). This is exactly what I plan to do. I can do the writing for sure.

Shimelle just posted on Instagram that the Use What You Buy: Bold Patterned Paper class should be available this weekend. A lot of people were granted free access to this class if you joined the stencils one, so hopefully some new content is coming soon!

Well now it is a school supply! It is far too easy for me to justify purchases... 😊

Thanks caangel . I don't mind that it's all recorded instead of being live. With the time difference I can rarely watch things live anyway.
