This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . If you are doing the Team Challenges, this challenge is worth one point for each page/project when you complete all 4. So that's 4 points for completing the Pokey Pea Challenge.

Good Saturday morning, Pokeys! And Happy World Cardmaking Day! Today is also the start of CARDtober!
No crafting for me today. I have the boys this morning. After breakfast we are off to the rink to watch their cousin play in her tournament. Their other cousins are coming to watch and they sounded excited about making a sign for her. I certainly plan to snap a pic of THAT!
Have a wonderful October.

Happy Saturday and happy October peas! Thanks nylene for setting up our new thread. I hope you all have a nice weekend. We should be cooling off again and I hope to get a few walks in. joyfulnana-What are some of your fav tv shows to watch? I too have watched more tv and streaming services. I like to watch sports, old movies and tv shows, pbs and vintage game shows. Every night we watch the 1960's Password and it is always fun and soothing. nylene- Yeah, Ron is the big football watcher in our home but I do like to watch with him or at least be in the room doing something else while he cheers.

Happy October Pokeys! Thanks for starting us up nylene! It was so good to you guys last night. I needed that. And I even got a good start on one of the Sketchember sketches. kellyr21 football is the perfect background noise for me to scrap to. I can follow along without watching and it keeps me company. Most of the shows I've been watching are Handmaids Tale, Cobra Kai - didn't think I would like it, but I love it lol. Only Murders in the Building on Hulu is so good. A very light hearted murder mystery show, it's feel good TV lol. I also spend a lot of that TV time with Abby watching crafty videos lol. grammadee you have a LOT going on this month just here on the board! I had totally forgotten about Cardtober. Don't wear yourself out! Enjoy that time with the kids! I'll bet that sign is fabulous!

Hey Pokeys. I'm four days into Layout a Day. Layout a Day is a lot easier if I do pages in my little notebook. Tonight is the rescheduled Cozy Mystery Book Club. If grammadee is available I will connect her with Google Meet. nylene you asked about my afghan. Here it is. I'm on stripe 19 of 30. Afghan in progress

justjac, that is so beautiful. I love the colors and am amazed at the many different stitches you are using. That is going to the a beautiful afghan. Is it for you or are you making a gift. You are such a talented gal. How long have you been working on it? I finally got some time to get started on the Cardtober challenges. I still have lots of layouts from last month I want to comment on. Our weather has become so beautiful. It really is a warm Fall and so nice to get out and enjoy it. Waving to all the Pokeys tonight! Have a great week!

Good Tuesday evening, Pokeys. I have been home since yesterday suppertime. Got groceries today and did a few things around the house, but not much. Picked up groceries--including a turkey for this upcoming Thanksgiving weekend--at 10% Tuesday (first Tuesday of the month, they always use scratch cards to determine what your discount is, but mine is always 10%) Also got the ingredients for pumpkin pie and lasagna. No work on the pumpkins or the tomatoes yet, but now I am prepared for when I have the veggies ready. Had a great time with the kids. Got lots of photos. Made the boys run around in the yard so I could get some fall themed photos. Got some good pics in the rink of my dgd playing hockey and of cousins hangin out together. My ddil and dgd shared some pic's with me, too. Went to Walmart on Sunday to print the photos, but sometimes their kiosk don't pick up all the pic's on the iphone, so now I will need to save to my stick first, then try printing again. Got lots printed though. I need to sort all my photos since early September so I have some idea about how many pages I would do with them. Your afghan is turning out beautifully, justjac. Love the colours. Good job keeping up with LOAD. Haven't even looked at their prompts. I got a message from PayPal while I was away that my automatic renewal there had been refunded, so I don't know if I will have access, anyway. The challenges here look fun, and the CARDtober ones have me itching to start on Christmas cards, but ith what I have to do around home this week, I don't see myself playing with paper until after this next weekend. Waving hi to everyone

Happy Wednesday! Where did this week go? I have been enjoying the Michael's classes I've been taking. Every week I take several. Yesterday was a yarn black cat and today's is a journaling theme. Tomorrow I have 4 classes plus my regular drawing class! I love learning about all these crafts I've never seen as well as the traditional ones. justjac - WOW! What a fantastic job you are doing! I love the colors and you have gotten pretty far along, too. I haven't tried knitting yet but I would like to try it at least once. nylene - Yeah, Fall is finally here, too. This has to be the hottest Summer we have had. It is still warm but getting better. SO glad your area is pleasant these days. grammadee - Glad you had a good time with your fam. How are your fur babies these days? Is all your gardening done for the year? joyfulnana - Abby is a fun tv partner! I watch a lot of Youtube videos as well. Lately, I have been watching a lot of art tutorials and the fashion shows from NY, Milan, and Paris. So interesting to see all the designs, patterns and colors. The way some of those young ladies walk makes me think I could do that and get paid the big bucks! LOL! linda , I saw some of your cards on the card board and they look terrific! Sending you a hug and hope you are getting around better.

justjac your afghan is beautiful! I love those colors and the variety of stitches. This looks like good needlework to with TV. I miss having something to work on while I'm watching all the TV with the cat lol. Good luck on LOAD. I love the idea of it lol. grammadee I love that you made the boys run around for photo ops lol! So glad you had a great time. Linda I hope you get over this crud soon and that everyone in your house stays well for awhile! nylene I hope you get some time in your scraproom.

grammadee - welcome home - looking forward to seeing your layouts as you scrap your way through all those pics kellyr21 - thank you. I enjoy Cardtober for making me try new card techniques - even as I'm struggling with yesterday's challenge. The Michaels classes sound awesome! joyfulnana - thank you. I am more than a little frustrated that I've caught yet another respiratory thing from dh - I'm beginning to think I would be better served masking at home than at the shops (yes - I'm still masking away from home - dh, however, not so much)

Oh, Linda, I hope this latest nasty bug can be driven away quickly. You were healthier when your dd and dh were both working from home, but then you never had the house to yourself. Are you all getting the flu shot this fall? I have to check when it is available around here. I want to make sure I have it before I head out to the IRL crop at the end of this month. I think it may be combined with --yet another--Covid booster, but not sure. What is "Fall" like in your area, kellyr21? I think of LA as a place of perpetual summer LOL. As I predicted, our colourful leaves are flying off the branches this week and there is a chill in the air. I hate the drabness between when the leaves go and the snow arrives. Everything is the same colour of grey/brown. Hate driving in snow, but I love how it reflects the light and makes the short days seem just a little brighter. And it is coming... I think there was frost on the grass when I went out to let the dog out of her kennel. Many years we have snow that stays sometime in October.

grammadee - thank you - yes, flu shot plus another booster are on my to-do list before I travel later this month. DH will get a flu shot at work and I'll have DD get one with me. wow - winter comes quickly in your area grammadee - I love how snow looks - both snow and the colourful fall leaves are things I miss being here in Florida.

grammadee, glad you are home and had a good visit. I look forward to seeing all the photos on pages. That should keep you busy for a while! Linda, I am sorry you have caught another bug. I think you and your family have had their share lately. Please take it easy as you weather through that. How is DD doing without the heavy cast? Hope she's doing well and being careful. Where are you going at the end of the month. I hope it's somewhere fun. joyfulnana, you will be kept busy with hosting this 4th Quarter Team. Thank you for doing that. Do you have any Rudy plans coming up. Is the new baby due next month? Time just keeps marching on, doesn't it. It was nice seeing you and Abby last weekend. refugeepea, I haven't seen you online lately. I hope you are all ok? Was your DS able to get the wheelchair/stroller yet? I'm sure that would be a great help for you. Hang in there. Hugs. kellyr21, I am so glad you have the Michael's classes available and have been investigating new crafts. I would love to have you post some of what you have done and learned. Hope you enjoy the cooler weather and that it stays nice for you for a while. justjac, that is a beautiful afghan. How was the book club? We have so many medical appts in the next 9 days. We will get our flu shots and covid boosters during one of the visits, which is good. DH has to wait a while before getting his shingles shots which were scheduled before his first surgery but had to be cancelled. I hope he doesn't get shingles before the time they will allow him to get the shots. He has a friend with shingles that have hung on for months and he's really miserable. I am hoping to get some scrappy time later in the day.

kellyr21 your classes sound so fun. Thanks for all the compliments on the afghan. It is a great project to learn new stitches. We signed up to get three balls of yarn and instructions for three stripes every month (which means it will take a minimum of ten months to finish.) I'm hoping to finish by Christmas. joyfulnana some sections are better for tv watching than others. I have lost count a few times and had to undo some stitches. nylene book club was rescheduled again. Well actually it wasn't supposed to be this week at all. The hostess who thought she had a cold turned out to have COVID and thought we hadn't confirmed the new date. So we both thought we knew what was going on but didn't actually talk to each other. Thank goodness grammadee hadn't driven into town for it! Linda I hope you feel better soon. I'm going to get an appointment for a flu shot and a booster when they get the clinic set up near my house (hopefully this month). I'll have to do a bit of research.

justjac - that afghan is stunning - the colours are favourites of mine, and I love the varied stripes/textures! Will you keep it for yourself! I certainly would! nylene - good luck with all the appointments! Linda - I hope you feel better quickly! we've had a lot of respiratory stuff going around here too, co-workers on antibiotics for sinus infections etc. I'm just glad the ragweed is dying Welcome home grammadee! We had frost this week - I noticed it while walking to work at 7:30 - with my mitts on! This weekend I have 5 days off, and I'm hoping to get some family fall photos. Extended family was *supposed* to come but cancelled, so I'm hoping my kids will still engage with family walks and games. I still need to FIND a turkey - they are scarce around here! DH brought home BOTH an apple and a pumpkin pie from costco today. That's a little early... I will have to encourage pie eating. I forgot to tell him my plans to bake my own - oh well. I met up with my cousin last night. She's 9 years older than me. I haven't seen her since I was 7 (!) because that side of our family (my dad and her mom were brother/sister) were terribly disassociated, cold, and not great parents. I didn't know until last night that my Aunt shared many poor parenting traits with my Dad It was quite therapeutic to talk with her and hopefully we'll stay in touch now. Bonus: she's a scrapbooker with an entire room for it. Happy happy happy!

refugeepea, I haven't seen you online lately. I hope you are all ok? Was your DS able to get the wheelchair/stroller yet? I'm sure that would be a great help for you. Hang in there. Hugs. We've had issues with my oldest son again. I posted a thread on the NSBR board. Just venting more than anything. I've been mentally drained lately. Stroller should be ready in December. I keep reminding myself it's free and something they offered. So when it gets here, it gets here.

Good Friday morning, Pokeys. This is our Thanksgiving Day weekend, and dd and family will arrive tomorrow. Dsil and Dgs will be staying until Tuesday. We have invited people over for lasagna Saturday night and we will have a turkey on Sunday. Today I need to cook up a bunch of tomatoes for the lasagna, pick up a few groceries, and do some cleaning. But I may as well wait for the cleaning until the fireplace chimney cleaners get done: we booked them two years ago and we finally made their appointment list. Yes, I have a ton of stuff to do today. Yet here I sit, chatting on line LOL. (((((HUGS))))), refugeepea. So much stress in your life right now. I hope you can find some help for your son--and that he will take it. And that that stroller gets delivered!!! How are your back and knees holding up? Good luck with your family fall photos, kitbop. They seem like they can be enticed to ham it up for the camera on occasion, so I hope they will oblige you this weekend. Put your camera on sports mode and get all the interactions and fun. They know you will scrap them even if they pout, so... justjac have a wonderful trip home this weekend. I will need to join you on line on Tuesday evening. I had been scheming about how I could just jump in the vehicle and drive to Lloyd on Tuesday (not as easy to contemplate with the price of gasoline these days. Thanks, OPEC!), but now that James and Mikey are staying over I will be staying home. Sending ((((hugs)))) and patience to you, nylene, while you and your dh go through all those medical appointments. Dh has his MRI finally rebooked for the 18th to check out his hip and I will need to drive him to that. I called the local pharmacy and they expect to have the flu and Covid vaccines ready to shoot into peoples' arms by the 17th, so we may just get our shots on the way home from the MRI. Linda, I hope you are feeling better. And remember, snow looks much nicer when looking out the window at it from a warm house... maribeth are you planning any more camping this year? Dsil plans to winterize and store their holiday trailer this weekend, so no more of that around here! If the weather is decent, we may have one more wiener roast in the yard, just for fun. Okay, I gotta move. Before I take on the tomatoes, I want to finish a page I have laid out on my counter. Have been doing this one in stages, tweaking it every time I walk through here: time to get if FINISHED!!! Talk to you later!

nylene - good luck with all those appointments. DD is thrilled to no longer have the cast - she'll be camping this weekend. I'm hoping to go to VA to see the big kids - I didn't go when DH and DD went in July so I haven't seen DS's house yet. justjac - sorry about your book club - hopefully it'll happen one of these weeks. kitbop - woohoo for 5 days off. Sorry that extended family isn't able to make it - hopefully you'll get some fall pics AND a turkey. Go ahead and freeze those pies until you're ready for them -that was the tip I got from Publix bakery a couple of years ago - buy early before they sell out and freeze. So cool that you met up with your cousin. It's a shame about your dad/aunt. ((((Hugs))) and prayers refugeepea - I hope things get easier Busy busy as always aren't you grammadee - hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend. I'm still under the weather but a bit better than yesterday - no more fever - but I'm so exhausted. Was planning on joining in on the SG crop this weekend but not sure if I have the energy. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I'm really hoping this is the end of illnesses and injuries for us for a good long time.

I almost hate to post this. It seems when it rains it pours on Pokey Peas families! I took DH for his regular macular injections yesterday and while we were in the same building, we went downstairs to the surgeon's office to have a stitch removed that was too imbedded for me to remove. The nurse took one look at him and said,"What's with your eyelid?" She took photos and sent them to the surgeon who was in surgery and he told her to find the first open operating room and it needed to be immediate. Unfortunately, just before we left home DH has a handfull of popcorn and a couple of Halloween candies...so, they couldn't do the surgery until 5 p.m. It was 9 o'clock before we got home last night and got him to bed. One of the tendons had become unattached and it was compromising his cornea. He is doing well, but really looks like he was beaten up. They moved a muscle and a blood vessel above the eye to the lower lid. This time he is taking the pain pills and it makes all the difference in his attitude. Enough of that! Linda , glad you are doing better, even if it's just a little better. Take it easy. refugeepea , I don't often go to the NSBR board and missed your post. I am so sorry you are dealing with such trials. I can definitely tell you that YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE! I watched you interact with your son and daughter and was so impressed with your patience and encouragement. You have had a lot of tough blows. You are doing the very best that can be done right now. I am sending prayers and hugs to you. My heart hurts for you. I was so hoping that you had the wheelchair already for your son. Hopefully Dec. will bring that great gift. Happy Thanksgiving to our Canadian Peas. Hope you all have a great weekend. Sorry your extended family can't come, kitbop , but how nice that you have become reacquainted with a scrapping cousin! I'm off to check on DH. My cardmaking will have to wait a few days.

Oh nylene - I'm so sorry your poor DH can't seem to find closure on this dang eye! Sounds like that embedded stitch was actually God looking down and getting him the attention he needed, but I'm so sorry it meant another surgery and more recovery. How you guys are keeping your smiles on is beyond me! Hugs to you both.

Hi pokeys I won't be chatting much the next bit. My Mom in BC has very unexpectedly and suddenly passed away and I'm flying out there tomorrow. I'm a bit shattered and it's hard to know where to turn or where to start - as an only kid I have a lot to do and it's harder when you are fighting sadness and tears and the "what ifs".
Through the grief, my one sarcastic thought is: "think I'll quit the pokey peas, they're having a rough year".

Do you have someone to meet you when you get down there? As an "only child", do you have aunts or cousins or SOMEONE to go with you to all the appointments and be by your side as you make decisions?
Which city are your flying to in BC?
Have a safe flight. They should be flying you at their lowest rate, and the best airlines don't hassle you for "proof" of a loss like this when you are booking.
Hang in there, girl. And don't dump the Pokeys. We don't BRING bad luck--we just seem to be GETTING it lately.
