Good Morning scrappyrabbit , jjpeapea , angel97701 , sleepingbooty , Linda , AussieMeg , natscraps , paget , nylene , cannmom , cycworker , Neisey and ComplicatedLady and welcome to the Q4 Glue Crew! This is a space to chat amongst ourselves, ask questions, and just hang if you wish. I see familiar names, if anyone is joining a team for the first time, let me know if you have questions. So, it's October and here in the US I feel like the holiday season is here, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and then finishing with a bang or whimper? for Christmas and Hanukkah and other festive activities. How do you to plan document the holidays, do you a small album for each, or a maybe just a spread for each or do you focus on your favorite holiday? Do you have a plan? I'm more of a fly by the seat of my pants documenter and am alllll over the place lol. My plan can change hourly lol. I'm an empty nester that was never big on Halloween, so there is nothing I will document there really and just a spread or two for Thanksgiving and December is still up in the air. International peas, are there holidays this quarter you will be celebrating and documenting that are particular to your country? Sometimes I feel like the US has taken over all the holidays all over the world lol. We are excellent at turning them into shopping days though:D I love learning about how others document life. Any goals for the quarter? Any releases you are excited about? I caved on the VB Print shop deal at PC and it's due to arrive today, so I'm a wee bit excited about that lol. My goals are to work through more of the Sketchtember sketches, and get my cards made and mailed. My mojo has been low this year so I'm hoping a fresh new quarter will get my juices flowing again. Here's to another quarter and another year slowly coming to an end. Except the time goes very fast for me lol. Don't forget to set some challenges, and set yourself up for success by setting challenges that are personal to things you want to accomplish this quarter regarding creating and creative time. Also be sure and check out angel97701 's organizing challenges if you need some help there. Welcome everyone! Let's play!! ETA: Here's a link jjpeapea has for the team badge if anyone wants one. It's super cute and AussieMeg did a great job and probably thinks I hate it because I haven't figured out how to get it in my siggy . I've lost all my other badges in the process, but I haven't given up trying. Anyway, here's the link, thought I would post it here so it doesn't get lost And thank you jjpeapea! I put a Glue Crew Badge in my signature line - here is a link if anyone wants to use it: i.imgur.com/DXfX7fc.jpg BUT put left square bracket img right square bracket in front of it and left square bracket /img right square bracket behind.

Hello to the Glue Crew!
My first goal is to get ready for 2 days of Sit and Crop while at CKC in Hillsboro. My Mom, Sis and I were regular attenders until my Dad really became incapacitated by his Alzheimer about 7 years ago. We had been going since 1998! I even have a scrapbook dedicated to these events! My Dad passed in Jan., and it was a blessing. It was his time to go see his Savior, he was at home and the events of the grief process have been sad but joyful.
I have hundreds of photos of the USS Missouri, the Submarine Museum, and Aviation Museum all part of Pearl Harbor that I finally decided to go the pocket page route . . . NEVER thought I would do that! I also will have many photos from our memorial trip back to Kodiak, AK were my Dad took us for his job. We were so blessed by that decision, and it was so great to go back after 45 years and see the places we frequented and enjoyed when we were children.
As for holidays, I usually only have single pages for Halloween and Thanksgiving. DS is almost 17 so don't even know if we will do one? Maybe carving pumpkins as with his FASD he's really socially about 8-10. For Christmas I just can't add in a December daily to the schedule, so I usually have a few layouts about preparations and then the celebrations with each half of the family.
The past 2 Christmas's I've sent out mostly handmade cards, but didn't build up a stash this year, so it might just be photo cards this year. I also save the "free cards" that come from all the charitable organizations that send us stuff to ask for more money.
Off to set up the Quarterly organization challenge . . .

Thanks for hosting this quarter joyfulnanaMy plan was just to include the holidays in the family scrapbook - I did DD in 2019 and 2021 and really wasn't planning to do it again. BUT it looks like we might be spending Christmas with DD22 as it seems more and more likely that DS will be headed overseas before then and we don't really want her spending Christmas alone the first year she's not at home. If that happens, Christmas will probably end up in a trip album or possibly a DD. We like to celebrate holidays here - even relatively minor ones - so I'll be documenting not only Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas but also Veterans Day, St Nicholas Day, St Lucia's Day, the Sundays of Advent etc... Goals? I want to finish up Shimelle's stencil class - one video/layout to go - and AD 's 4x6 sketch class (I think I'm at 5/10). NOT shop - I was more than a little horrified at my spend total for Q4 esp. considering it didn't feel like I bought much. Undecided on Cardtober - I've participated in the past but some of the technique based challenges are really out of my skill level and/or use products I don't have. But mostly just keep scrapping...

Hi Glue Crew! Love the name - made me laugh. I sat last quarter out and happy to be participating again. I am mostly a pocket scrapper. I used to scrap 12x12 many years ago, took a very very long break and returned about 2 years ago (1st year was memory planner and this year is project life). Although I’m not a big Halloween person I am doing sort of October occasionally (or daily, TBD) but including it in my weekly project life album just with more spreads/inserts. I’m all about fall and cozy things to record for the season. I will do the same for a version of December Daily. I want to play with all the stuff but I don’t like having a lot of separate albums- I like my year to be together (well this year is two albums, but still, the year flows together in the album). Besides my project life with bigger sections for October and December and also have a new December daily type album going of our family’s Christmas traditions since I didn’t scrap for so many years there’s a lost period (that I won’t go back and scrap) and I want to record how we do/did Christmas. I also have a travelers notebook with another project I am doing with memories/random stories of my middle dd who passed away 2.5 years ago. I get a decent amount done (or at least I spend a decent amount of TIME scrapping (I’m slow- it’s part of my fun) but I stink at keeping track of points and realizing I just did 4 challenges on a page that I didn’t know were challenges! Lol Looking forward to our quarter together. ETA: goals… hmm. Probably to actually use all the Christmas stuff I bought - I mean use a lot of it so it’s not wasted money. I may have went a little crazy.

Sounds like lots going on so far! angel97701 how fun that you have had those experiences with your mom and sister! Pocket pages sounds like the way to go with all the photos you have. Sorry if I mentioned the ORG thread before you were ready, oops! Linda, your potential Christmas plans sound pretty wonderful, does DS know where he might be stationed next? I also would like to finish up the stamp and stencil classes and complete one of the other classes I've signed up for this quarter. But like you, mostly just keep scrapping, only for me to get started again lol.

Linda, your potential Christmas plans sound pretty wonderful, does DS know where he might be stationed next? DS will be deployed rather than going to a new post - looks like it'll be 6-9m unlike his more typical deployments of 1-3 weeks (he's on a 1-wk one now). He knows where he's headed but I can't share until he's there.

joyfulnana No Problem it is up now! Another goal . . . start using the Scrapbook Generation's 4 x 6 sketch class I "followed" for 10 weeks. So many options. I have it all printed out and ready to bind into a book. It was well worth the $15 even though I didn't have time to get to the weekly sketches. I have one started, and one planned of the 10. So will most likely use those ideas to finish up my Hawaii album. My husband is really liking the pages as it was a really good vacation for us.

Hi Glue Crew! Love the name - made me laugh. There are people on this board that are so creative when it comes to fun names, or titles. I'm not one of those ha! LOL I love the sounds of your documenting process. I'm also so sorry for your loss. I'm also such a slow scrapper. I've kinda decided my family will be happy with anything that I DID scrap during my lifetime lol. angel97701 starting that 4x6 class is also on my list, like you I followed and printed as we went along but haven't actually done anything else. Your Hawaii pages are fabulous and it looks like such a good trip. I remember when you popped into the virtual crop on that trip! There is a crop this afternoon at 4PM PST if anyone is interested, I'm joining because it's the only way I am getting even a tiny bit done lately, and they are fun and it's fun getting to know peas!

Bonjour all! How wonderful to join you and share all things scrappy this quarter. I hope the start of the autumn season is treating everything in the Northern hemisphere well and that the first signs of spring are making those down under happy! Can't wait to see what your creative minds come up with for the final stretch of the year... How do you to plan document the holidays, do you a small album for each, or a maybe just a spread for each or do you focus on your favorite holiday? Do you have a plan? Big fan of mini albums and they've been my go-to to document the Spooky and Yule seasons over the past few years but I'm actually jumping into 6x8 for both these celebrations this year. They will be volume albums with several October + December seasons added chronologically. Definitely have a plan in place. I'm ready to grab these two wonderful months by the proverbial horns and wrangle them into documenting submission as they unfold. International peas, are there holidays this quarter you will be celebrating and documenting that are particular to your country? Love that you're enquiring about the international holidays, joyfulnana ! I adore reading about the different traditions and feasts in other cultures. Next up for us is All Saints Day. It's big here and we visit + celebrate the departed although, technically, they should be honoured on All Souls Day, the day after, but since November 1st is a public holiday, that just shifted naturally. We will likely visit the graveyard for my stepfather's family (my family does cremation + scattering). Then there is a gap until December. A few small parts of France celebrate St Nicholas on December 6. I have remnants of St Nicholas from living elsewhere in Europe as a child and I usually have a small gift exchange with my mother on that day, just as a little nostalgic mood booster for the start of the month. Nothing more. The big celebration is on Christmas Eve here, not the 25th. We always joke that the 25th is a public holiday so we can recover from everything we ate and drunk on the night of the 24th... Food is truly the star of Christmas in France: oysters, smoked salmon, game or turkey, foie gras, big cheese platter, Yule log for dessert. All of it. I kid you not. Plus side dishes. And wines paired with each course. Then comes NYE, the celebration among friends after the family-centric Christmas Eve. And we end the 12 days of Christmas with secular Epiphany in early January. It's very, very big in France. Three Kings cake with cider from Brittany or Normandy. Most of the country does the frangipane-filled puff pastry, the south where I live does the traditional brioche-style round cake (like a king's crown) with crystallised fruit and nuts like is the case in Spain and Portugal. You get a paper crown when you purchase one of these at the bakery and whoever finds the fava bean (often a tiny ceramic figurine) in their slice is crowned king/queen for the day! The youngest of the family, considered the most innocent, sits under the dinner table and shouts the name of the family member whom the slice of cake is for so nobody cannot cheat to get the fava bean. As a big fan of all things spooky who lived in the UK for a short while as a child where I heard about Samhain, I nowadays really enjoy Halloween although I'm the main force behind anything that happens in my social circle. We're likely getting together dressed up and enjoying a horror movie night this year. As an atheist, I also have a small thing planned on December 23rd to celebrate Festivus. Absolutely love this grumpy feast straight from the Seinfeld writers' minds. We do the airing of grievances and it's always a hoot. Whoever does the best Frank Costanza impression wins! Any goals for the quarter? Catch up on my memory planner, get loads of photos of the new dog in the family to document all the wonderful things about her (foster fail), get on with my October Daily and then December Daily projects. That should keep me nice and busy!

Lol I feel it’s an equal opportunity “holiday.” Yes, Festivus is so much fun (and open to all)! Can't wait to see how you're documenting it this year. We need to get somes feats of strength going here as well because so far, we just end up eating + drinking and going all in for the grumpy grievances every time! Gotta make these people work for their Festivus meal a little... We used the stick of our mop as a make-shift pole once and it was hilarious. Also, "I find tinsel distracting" is one of our favourite things to say whenever we spot some tinsel in the window displays or at someone's home over the holidays. My SO and I will compete for who manages to spot it and say it first, even if it means texting the other from a conference room or something... We will literally blurt it out whenever there is tinsel on screen in a Hallmark movie or something. It just goes on all Christmas season!

And wouldn't you know it, that is the time I finally can get in and get a much needed massage!
I've really been struggling with anxiety/depression/inability to sleep without Rx intervention that last month. I have a new ND I will see on Wednesday, that's a whole story to itself! The summer was really rough with the FASD DS#2, I was his personal punching bag at times and he purposely pushed buttons. Yes it is part of his brain injury, but I was done by the end of the summer. Then the first day of school he came home with 5 TCH vape cartridges (used), I went into his room the second day of school and smelled marijuana. So discouraged, hurt, enraged, etc. Drugs will not help his brain, yet addiction is part of his diagnosis as well.

Hi there fellow glue crew members! Looking forward to getting back into paper crafting mode. I don’t really have any big goals for myself, I’m a seriously slow scrapper so just finding enjoyment in the process is fine by me!
I do hope to invite a couple friends over for a day of crafting. We haven’t crafted together in person since March 2020.
I’ve never done entire albums around any holiday. A couple pages of yearly Halloween costumes. I typically take tons of photos at Christmas and then get overwhelmed. I do have lots of fond memories and traditions I’ve carried on and/or created with my own kids so maybe I will start picking away at a page or two each year.
Have fun getting your scrap on this quarter!

So appropriate for me to be on the Glue Crew - sometimes glue is EVERYWHERE. Halloween will get a pocket or two in my pocket page album, as will Thanksgiving. For December I got a set of coordinated insert cards and paper (Stampin Up) and I will do a December Daily with a 4x3 date card and 4x3 photo or journal/list/ephemeris depending on the day. My 31yo daughter is intellectually challenged and still enjoys the simple pleasures of life, so she is looking forward to her advent calendar. I often use the activities and treats in the calendar in the December Daily.
I'm also participating in CARDtober as a hostess and participant. I'm hoping to do all the challenges, but my volunteer job is taking more of chunk out of my days than anticipated.

I also have a small thing planned on December 23rd to celebrate Festivus. Absolutely love this grumpy feast straight from the Seinfeld writers' minds. ahahahaha one of the radio stations here does Festivus Friday during the evening commute. It's so fun to hear people air their grievances lol. And I love your Epiphany traditions, that sounds awesome. I love learning about other celebrations, you and Linda celebrate so many things that never occured to me, and gives me some things to think about. So interesting about All Saints Day. I was raised Catholic, and I "knew" about that day, but we didn't do anything to celebrate. Just the Evil Halloween lol. So appropriate for me to be on the Glue Crew - sometimes glue is EVERYWHERE. Me too! Especially those little glue squares. They get stuck to EVERYTHING. I'll be glad when I've used them all lol. DS will be deployed rather than going to a new post - looks like it'll be 6-9m unlike his more typical deployments of 1-3 weeks (he's on a 1-wk one now). He knows where he's headed but I can't share until he's there. Ahhh, I totally get that. I can't wait to see the pages you are going to make from this deployment! ( Didn't think about the words "stationed" and "deployed" not being interchangeable in the way I used them.) After all he just bought a house, so hopefully he stays stationed here for some years. I have the NFL on in the background and am going to get my points tallied for last Q next.

I'm packed! Well my scrappy stuff anyway. Clothing and food tomorrow morning early afternoon. The Quick Quotes bag in the front will probably not see the light of day, but just in case I get a lot done and don't shop too much at CKC Hillsboro! I'm excited to spend time with my mom, and sis will be there part of the time too! In the good news department my massage was excellent, and I am looking forward to meeting my new ND for a new patient appointment tomorrow. I really need to get some things figured out, I'm sure my cortisol levels are off the charts. Sleep is fleeting especially in the early morning hours.
DH has DS's Direct Support Professional coming twice while I'm gone so he will have some respite as well. Thursday evening, and Saturday. I set up a notebook of things they should work on and gave DH instructions.
Looking forward to just being me for awhile!

The Quick Quotes bag in the front will probably not see the light of day, but just in case I get a lot done and don't shop too much at CKC Hillsboro! I had to chuckle at this, because I do the same thing. Only I think I'm going to be some super speedy scrapper just because I'm not at home lol. And guess what? I'm not! enjoy the time with your mom and sis! If you haven't set any challenges, take a look at what's there, and set one if you'd like. It's a dang free for all the first few days of the month lol. Lots of good ones!

Hola Glue Crew! I’m so happy to ring in the last quarter with you lovely crafters.
I’ve been super busy the last month and half traveling. We have/had 4 weddings since September! This weekend is the last of them, so I’m in my hotel in Chicago working from here. I can’t wait for this wave of weddings to be over and for me to be at home, with my dog!
Of course, all this travel and weddings will provide me with endless scrapping material for the next several months. I’m afraid I won’t ever be caught up from this year! I’m grateful for the sketchtember sketches that are waiting for me at home, many of which I already paired with photos.

Boy, I just don't seem to be able to find time to scrap. We have 5 different medical appointments in the next 10 days. Sometime I still need to get a mammogram and a haircut this month. I thought retirement years were supposed to be relaxing! Linda, I'm sorry you have caught the crud. You have had way too much of medical issues the past 2 months. It's your turn to be well, have the whole family well, and have some scrappy time. scrappyrabbit, don't worry about getting caught up. Just enjoy the process and don't put pressure on yourself. I have loved "traveling" with you this summer! angel97701, I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing time. It's your turn! joyfulnana, thank you so much for hosting us this Quarter. I hope Abby lets you get some scrappy time. She reminds me of a clingy child (like my last one). It's nice that you are so loved, but sometimes you need to breathe. LOL It was soooo nice to see you last Sat.

Wow, what a weekend. Unfortunately I received a call from the VP about 2 pm that really sent me to a bad place. As DH has tried to tease out the truth it now appears that a confession was coerced and DS was not not high. And they put him supposedly on the bus. He went to the grandparents then walked in the neighborhoods towards home. I was tracking him from 200 miles away. Kinda ruined my mindset, really glad I had kits set up. Spent over 3 hours on the phone with DH and VP. Pete was upset but didn’t exhibit his usual signs of having used contraband. It may be attorney time due to how he was interviewed.
But I did get 9 pages done and 5 more that just need finishing touches. Made some new friends and prayed a lot!
Good time with my Mom, okay time with my sis!

angel97701 - I'm sorry it wasn't as relaxing a weekend as hoped but I'm glad you were able to go and spend time with your mom and sister. I've been scrapping today - mostly cards but a couple of layouts. Tested after dinner - I couldn't taste the lasagne - and popped positive almost immediately with a dark line - Covid has finally caught up with me. Hopefully being vaxed and double-boosted will help keep this mild.

Oh no, Linda! Hope you have an easy time of it! I was just adding up points so far for the quarter as it always gets away from me. I saw the printable list which I didn’t do before. I decided to do old school, and whoa. I got a lot of points per layout! I do PL and there’s lot of little pictures, PL cards used and I’ve been stamping a lot and making my own cards- really adding up. I’m going to see if I can do some sharing tomorrow.

I start out really strong tracking points, and pointing every layout, then after a couple of weeks I get lax, and then just easy peasy count anything after that lol. But the points can really add up doing old school too. angel97701 I'm sorry you didn't have as relaxing trip as you should have had. It sounds like you made the best of it and that's a lot of pages! oh no Linda! I hope it's a mild case. I'm double vaxxed and double boosted and have so far *keeping fingers crossed* have avoided it as far as I'm aware. Man, I hope this is the last of the sickness in your house for AWHILE! I haven't scrapped at all this weekend. DGS has been popping in and out all weekend, and today I'll have him while his dad has practice. We go through spells of playing Pokemon Go. And right now we are playing and we spent last evening driving around fighting in raids. It was a good time. Just chill and having fun together. I'm sure me and DGS will be playing at least part of today lol. I have a question for those of you that do PL, how do you keep from turning every pocket into an elaborate LO? That is what I end up trying to do, use all the stamps and pretty stickers and over think the whole thing. LOL! Also AussieMeg did make us a badge, I just need to figure out how to make it so we can all snag one. I'll try to get to that this evening!
