Well, Thanksgiving was peaceful (in a good way) at my house. My turkey was a teeny bit dry. And my pumpkin pie crust was a little dark. (Husband had trouble with same commercial crust for his dumplings...) But my pie filling was tasty and my classic mashed potatoes were classic. I would LOVE to hear about your Thanksgiving dish successes, so I can enjoy your success. I finished my October pocket pages, created 11 Christmas card for the neighbor project and finished the insides and addresses of my personal cards. angel97701 I'm sighing along with you. Exhausting! Keep us posted on how you are doing. joyfulnana, new points possibilities noted. No Black Friday shopping in person or online here. My daughter and I plan on some Christmas markets this weekend. linda, hi!!! scrappyrabbit thanks for telling about your JoAnns trip. I'll check out ours next time I'm in that part of town.

It sounds like you got an awesome haul scrappyrabbit. I do the same thing, I will buy something if I have photos in mind for it. I may not get to the photos immediately, but it's there when I'm ready. I hope everyone is enjoying the month so far! I have not done much related to the holidays, some shopping, but no baking and my cards aren't even quite ready to go yet. Those will be finished up and in the mail this week. I'm looking forward to trying out the new point system, and see what you all think as well. It's going to be soooo much easier to keep track of points.

Sorry I have been so absent. Between Dh's 3 surgeries and our cases of Covid, I think I lost November. I haven't added up a single point since this quarter started. I won't be much help in the points department. I did make 70 Christmas cards while coughing and hacking. They will all be sent by next week. No other scrapping has been done in this scraproom. I have missed it but have decorating and Christmas prep to do.
I hope you are each getting some Christmas Spirit between the busy and challenging times in your December.

Thanks all, I survived the week. We had two more incidents last week, of stealing, not going to practice and being reported for trying to buy a dab pen (concentrated cannabis).
At least he was gone all day Friday (his wrestling team runs a big tournament) and got home at 11:00. Then we were up for the JV half of the tournament and had him there 8 to 5. We went at 11 and watched his three matches. He won the first two with pins and the third decision. IF he had gone to practice on Wednesday afternoon he would have been in the Varsity tournament, opportunity missed.
Still making phone calls and looking at options for him. We are exhausted parenting him! We got 4 inches of snow yesterday and spent more than an hour clearing our asphalt. Best to do it when it is fresh, because once the tire prints freeze they stay for awhile. I've not crafted in forever, just haven't had the mojo! Hope all is well and everyone is getting ready for Christmas. I'm going to do Christmas lite decor this year because I am starting to sort, and pack for getting the house to be ready to put on the market. We are getting serious about really doing this thing! Good news is that our home should help us get into a nice place on the lake.

Hey Team and Happy Holiday season! How's everything going? angel97701 I hope you can find some good resources to help with DS, and maybe living on the lake will be a good change for him. I'm totally doing Christmas lite as well. I finally got cards out and now I have what feels like a ton of baking to do, and I've got a quarter of the blanket left. I hope to finish that this week. I have to say, I have missed having some kind of needlework in my lap while I watch TV. I can't concentrate on TV if I'm scrapping. I'm either completely watching, or completely absorbed in the paper lol. I can see other knit or crochet projects in my future, but I have soooo many scrappy projects I want to do too lol. Way too many ideas and not enough time. It's a good thing I am not trying to do a December album this year, I haven't taken a single picture this month. I haven't scrapped in what feels like forever. It feels like last year since I really scrapped. I'm hoping a new year will help spark some mojo. If you are doing a December album are you keeping up with it, or do you wait until after the holidays to work on it? What scrappy plans if any, are you making for 2023? I want to try to keep up with a simple monthly PL type spread, but that's all I have in mind so far.

Way too many ideas and not enough time. yes - story of my life If you are doing a December album are you keeping up with it, or do you wait until after the holidays to work on it? not doing a December album this year, just including it in the family album (and in the big kids' album). I just pulled my Christmas stuff out to work on photos from the last week of November/first week of December. After not scrapping for a bit, I took a scrappy day yesterday while DH and DD went to a Lego Con and scrapped my little heart out I finished up DH's Dallas album - he had a business meeting there and extended on either side to road trip over and back and take in some museums. Seventeen layouts yesterday - 11 double and 6 single. Today I'm alternating housework and scrapping - got an 8x8 done for DD's Girl Scout album so that's caught up. And did a single page cookie decorating layout for the family album. At some point I'll need to count and share... Next year? I really haven't thought that far ahead...

Your scrappy day sounds wonderful Linda. And you got so much done! Bravo! I tell myself I'm going to block out a day for scrapping, but unless I'm at a crop- in person or online, I can't get myself to stay in my seat and scrap lol. I always look forward to the new year, I guess that's why I'm thinking about it already. The current year feels old and tired to me by December and the new year is shiny and distracting lol.

Linda Glad you are feeling better! I'm still working on things for DS. More stealing, lying, drug use, school suspensions the list goes on. His room is empty. I give him his clothing the night before. He gets his meds just before bed. We did give him a Christmas present early so he had something to focus on during this week. We had a private orientation at the Oregon Youth Challenge Program sponsored by the National Guard and funded by state and federal $$$. He committed the boot style 22 week residential program as on opportunity to reset, makes changes for himself. He declines all therapy: occupational, mental health, and addiction therapy. This is an opportunity for him to do it himself. He wrote a very heartfelt prayer in his gratitude journal, that he does want to change. He just doesn't have the skills or intellect to do it on his own. We are praying we safely make in to Jan 11 when the program starts. The VP and a Campus monitor (who worked there for 13 years) are both in his corner. They convinced him on the ride out there on Thursday. I have his application done. He went back to school yesterday, and all went well until he got a little tough love from a "friend". He is basically giving up on wrestling for the rest of what is left of his season? This is really sad on so many levels. Well, on to Christmas lite, one tree up. Time to wrap some presents.

Hi Team, I hope everyone is having a happy holiday season! I for one will be soooo glad to see December 26th. It's my favorite day of the year lol. I've got one more stripe left on the blanket for the DGS. All my shopping is done, but man my weekend did not go to plan. I was going to do the cleaning and bulk of the baking. DGS really wanted to make sugar cookies, so all of Saturday went to that, and a sleepover with him. I also have a huge nail in one tire that I was going to see about getting fixed Saturday, and my battery died. Died dead. dead. dead. so I'll be without a car until DS1 can help me get that changed on Friday. So I'm a savvy online shopper, no sweat. I can have anything I need delivered this week. Until I tried. And watched the door dash driver who had my grocery order, drive past the turn into my apt. complex twice. Then mark it delivered. put a black screen up for proof of delivery and left. Which meant two calls to walmart to get it refunded so I could order it alllll over again and have DS1 drive me over to pick it up after work tonight. Not my favorite weekend for sure lol. And I'm soooo not anywhere near ready for Christmas lol. angel97701 I hope DS uses this time to reset and find a way to stay out of trouble. Hugs to you and fingers crossed everything stays relatively calm for you until the 11th.

Love how you ladies are patient or have a sense of humor over life's setbacks .... We're having snow here today. I'm already off for the year but I was a little nerve wracked over my daughter going to and coming home from her day program. She's home now until Tuesday, so let the holiday relaxing begin! Son came home yesterday instead of today because of the weather prediction. (But he still has to work - since he works remotely from his apartment he just brought his computer and is working from his childhood bedroom.) We were especially sad over Franco Harris passing. He's been an amazing supporter to the Pennsylvania Special Olympics. We've been at events with him several times. Always smiling, gracious, supportive. Not everything is wrapped here but I'm ready for the most part. Last week we had not cookie in the house. Then DH's brother sent a package with cookies. Then my friend invited us to ice cookies. Then my daughter's advent calendar activity was to bake cookies. Then the bell rang at 7:00 pm, I'm already in my fleece pants and the neighbors brought cookies. Oh and my volunteer job is in a 2nd grade classroom so some of the kids gave cookies. Real prayers for you, angel97701

And hopefully my DTaP shot tomorrow won't put me under the weather.

Thank you for your prayers as it has been another week of ups and downs, uncertainty, and waking up in the middle of the night with a racing brain.
Monday the OYCP called and needed three things. He had to go in for STD testing, which we did yesterday. Fortunately the clinic used his sports physical to complete the rest of the form and we are waiting on the lab results. Which should be no problem, as that's not been an issue for DS. They also wanted me to get him through the intake a Juvenile Justice, which is one of the "deals" the VP made to get him to consider OYCP. BUT Juvenile Justice and OYCP required a clearance of his case from 10/20. That was this morning. Fortunately DS didn't have to recount much about the actual case, but is was more of an assessment as to whether he was a risk to the community or himself. He did admit to his drug use, and admitted that it is a problem. The agent did want him to get into OYCP, and was very matter of fact. DS did great and I was very proud of him. They also need someone to voluteer to be his mentor for the next 17 months. We have 3 men who are willing to step up, but need to wait until we know he his admitted to the program. His first choice is actually our neighbor, a Lt. Col in the Marine reserves. Great man, and shares our world view.
The final hurdle? He has too many credits and is on track to graduate with his modified diploma. BUT his behavior and involvement with the wrong crowd of "frenemies" gets his in trouble and suspended. So behavior may cause him to be expelled, because of course he always gets caught, sneaky but not smart.
I am trying to focus on at least one Christmas related activity a day. Yesterday it was photo cards with short letter mailed for Christmas cards. NO handmade cards yet this year. Just don't have the right mind-set. The day before it was cookies. Today it was hanging up stockings and putting out a few more decorations. Not my usual explosion of lights and ornaments on garlands all over the great rooms of the house. One tree, one nativity. My angel tree is in storage this year as are several more nativities.
I am thankful that my mother will be here Christmas Eve. I asked her to come for Christmas. She is doing family Christmas with my sister and brother's families before and after a week here with us. Last year we were blessed to all be at her home and celebrate together. As it turns out it was the last year we had my Dad with us . . . so blessed to share those memories.

Merry Christmas Eve to those who celebrate! angel97701 I'm so happy to hear your mom will be there to celebrate with you. jjpeapea I totally relate to PJs in the early evening! Especially when it's so dang cold out right now. Envious of all the cookies too That's hilarious that you ended up with so many at once lol. Linda I'm very bah humbug this year as well. I hope you get some holiday spirit, and I hope I get some too. Mostly I just keep thinking about how good it's going to feel on the 26th lol. Oh my car, the saga continues. I've been homebound all week, which is ok, but we finally got it jumped yesterday! Yay!! And then I drove around a bit and went to the grocery store to pick up the meat and cheese tray for dinner. I shut it off, and tried to start it and it is DEAD. Like for real dead now. It made a sizzling sound when I shut it off, so now I'm hoping it's not something more. But it was so cold yesterday and you have to practically take the car apart to get to the battery, so it's still at the grocery store. Worst possible time to have all this trouble as DS is also trying to finish his shopping and get to all of the other gatherings he needs to hit. Hopefully today. But the baking is done, the blanket is finished and I just have wrapping to finish up today. That's a silver lining. And I want to do more of that in 2023, looking for the bright spots and not spending so much time worrying about the dark clouds. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday weekend!!

joyfulnana - I'm sorry about your car - hopefully it just didn't like the cold. We've been having car sagas also. Our older pickup truck went in to the garage around Thanksgiving because it wasn't reliably starting - we told them no rush as we had other vehicles. So it took a while and when we finally heard from them a couple of weeks ago - there had been some sort of mishap and explosion when they turned it on after repairing it...no one got hurt thankfully but it needed more repairs. So it's still at the garage. And then our main car has been having starting issues also and wouldn't start at all yesterday so dh took the battery in and bought a new one. We seem to only get about 2 years from a battery in that car...that seems short to me. I need to bake one batch of cookies (dough is chilling) and hopefully some mince pies. A bit more wrapping and hopefully DH will assemble the trees... if not, we'll have a small table top tree again like we did several years ago when the tree broke. It'll be fine...

Linda, car troubles are so inconvenient! Wow I'm glad no one was hurt! I usually get 5 years from a battery. I'm only getting 4 from this one. I hope your trees get set up too. Any little bit can help with the Christmas spirit!

Hi Team! Did everyone survive the holiday? 0; Yay! I'm glad your trees are up Linda! I hear you on the tired part. I hit a wall at 7:30 last night and it went downhill from there lol. Today will be a lazy PJ day. I might even scrap!! Still stuck at home with a dead vehicle but I'm ok with that today. The holiday itself was wonderful! So much chatter and laughing and it was fun. It was what felt like a weird lead up, where nothing was going to plan, but it came together. It's time to start gathering points. I haven't counted many since October so that will be a chore. And I hope the easier system we will give a try in 2023 will make it easy peasy to count points. For those of you joining next Quarter, you'll be dealing with me as your leader, I'm sorry I'm not great at keeping the chat going. I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday filled with fun and the people you love most!

Knowing that I probably won't have time to craft between now and New Years . . . I am reporting my points now: 5688 mostly from Oct and some from November.
I am very thankful that DS's final Christmas present arrived this morning. He is happily building his Tamiya 2021 Ford Bronco RC model. The YouTube channel with the step by step build is on, he is in the main part of the house, and my mom is behind me working on her Bible Study. Life is good this morning.
I need to make some phone calls to so if I can check on whether or not Pete gets to go to OYCP. He will be really disappointed IF NOT, as he really wants the fresh start. If he is denied due to "too many" credits, then DH and I will go back to the school district . . . if they CANNOT make an appropriate plan to met his IEP, then it might be time to contact our attorney. I am really praying that he will be able to go to OYCP, as it is the first thing he has said yes to doing, to help himself have a better life away from drugs.
Christmas went well, and the weather cooperated for my mom to travel over the mountain. A beautiful Christmas Eve service with Grandparents Cole, Grandma Lyon and the three of us. Full Christmas dinner at our home on Christmas Day, splatchcocked smoked turkey on the Traeger. All the fixings . . . I was tired!
I am learning to use my new iPhone 14 pro camera. Thank goodness for a good YouTube videos!
Happy New year Everyone!

I am sad that I didn't help you out this quarter. I made lots of cards so I can count those, but not a single layout. Covid really knocked me out and I still feel like I'm not back to normal. I am getting some smell back, but not much taste. I taste something, but everything tastes the same. I will get busy and count my meager points and get them posted by the 31st. Sorry I haven't been much help. angel97701, congrats to Pete!

Linda hope your family time was sweet. joyfulnana my points total is in the points collection thread but I'll put it here too: 2304. HAPPY NEW YEAR, Glue Crew! It has been lovely spending Q4 with you. My New Year's plans include going downtown the 31st for some activities, eating pork and sauerkraut on New Year's Day (Central Pennsylvania tradition - it brings luck for the year...) and watching the Rose Bowl parade and the Rose Bowl on January 2nd.

So I did a thing today . . . I made a card! It is for my in-laws 60th Anniversary. It felt good to create something. My point total above reflects the easy peasy addition to my points.
Also took DS to Target to let him pick out the hygiene products he needs to take to OYCP. We had our list, and got everything but unflavored lip balm. He thought what he had at home was unflavored, but was not. Everything else is on order from Amazon, so feeling good about that.
Also found out today that our neighbor, the Lt. Col. in the Marines NG will be his mentor. This is another answer to prayer. He was Pete's first choice, and we are glad to have him on the "team". Waiting to find out about how the Rx will pan out for payment as he needs to take two months with him to OYCP. His insurance allows only once a month.
Hope everyone is ready for a Happy New Year!

Happy NYE team!! Sorry I've been so absent this quarter, life got really hectic and that continued last week. @angle97701 that's such good news about Pete! I hope this is the the thing he needs. nylene I only scrapped 2 layouts and made a handful of cards. Well there was the blanket but I do not have many points this Q. Linda are the kids still there with you? I hope you've had a wonderful time with them. I have zero plans tonight, well, I'm going to clean up my scrap space so I can crop the rest of the weekend, and probably watch the ball drop. Your NYE sounds fun jjpeapea! I hope you will all join in again next month (tomorrow!!) and play along on a team! I'll be checking in to collect points. Thanks so much for hanging out here with me!
