Linda I hope your trip visiting with DS and DD is going great!
nylene Are you feeling better yet?
The same with joyfulnana. My covid lasted about a week but the cough hung on for about 3 weeks. Maybe it contributed to the slow descent into hypothyroidism?
jjpeapea What a wonderfl photo of a fall ride. Great way to use cards from Cartober challenges to cheer and encourage those around you.
As for me I have about 10 pages to photograph and share in the gallery. I went with pocket pages to get photos scrapped about the USS Bowfin museum. Made it quick and easy and didn't have to leave out a bunch of photos by doing traditional layouts. I will do the same with our Zipline day, and touring the USS Missouri for the Hawaii album. Being creative in a space 4" x 6" along with journaling is a bit freeing.
We are still dealing with DS and his FASD issues. The school has a hard time (understandably) keeping track of him. He has to make the decision himself to be where he should be and not associating with the wrong group of "friends" who use him as a mule. He wants to stay at his HS, but we keep reminding him that there are other options. What is sad is that it might take a few months for the Juvenile Court system to actually get him in, and by that time the cause and effect of his actions will be lost on him. The other downer is that the at school the pilot Addiction program through an outside agency contracted by the school district DOES NOT have someone familiar with FASD! Unlike what we were originally told. I am trying to be creative to get someone at the program to get some training, because another counseling failure is really not an option!
Last week I had a follow up with my NP. We decided to start me on Amour, as my symptoms are still mostly evident. It will take a couple of weeks before I am to start feeling the full effect of the Rx. It's a bummer to be tired all the time!

Hey team, I’ve been chugging along. We’ve had some slight drama over here as our car’s catalytic converter was stolen for the second time in 1 month. The first time we didn’t have comprehensive insurance, so we paid out of pocket. After that, we upgraded our insurance so thankfully this time it’s completely covered. But it’s still a huge nuisance because we only have one car (and we live in a car centric city!). I’m typing this from the bus, and I got splashed with a tidal wave of rain from a passing car while waiting at the bus stop 😫
But, it’s also my bday this weekend so we decided to rent a car and go on a little getaway to Death Valley! I haven’t been since I was a kid, so looking forward to that!

Just got back today from my trip - I extended it a little in order to have a bit more time with DS as he had a surprise Hawaii detachment right as I arrived (I got in Monday morning and he left on Tuesday before dawn and arrived back on the Sunday after spending an overnight on the floor at Dulles... not the best way to celebrate his birthday (that Saturday). I'm exhausted - left their house at 715 last night and they dropped me at the train station about 830 for a 940 train that got delayed until 1015pm - got off the train this mornning at 915am (no I can't sleep on the train) and had to wait at the station until 12 for DH to pick me up as he had a 930 dr appt (f/u for his eye surgery). Stopped for lunch on our way home and then to vote so wasn't home until just past 3. Had a wonderful time though.

I’m happy to report that I finished 2 pages and a card in October and have a page almost completed this month. I’ve worked a lot of extra hours the last 2 weeks so I’m taking tomorrow off and Friday is Remembrance Day so other than the Remembrance day service I’m planning on staying home and splitting my time on yard work and crafting. jjpeapea foster kitty Geo is making slow steps. He still does not approach us at all but allows us to pick him up to cuddle, pet and gives belly rubs. He is still petrified of everything and if we didn’t keep him locked up in my bathroom we’d never find him in the house. The first week or so he never relaxed, always perched on his haunches and ready to run, but now we find him curled up more comfortably and he doesn’t try to hide. This week he also started playing with toys. I think he will eventually be adoptable but it will take time. Hope everyone is having a good week! It was great chatting and scrapping with some of you last weekend!

That's so crappy about your car scrappyrabbit. I hope your getaway was wonderful! Happy belated Birthday! Linda your trip home was quite the adventure! I'm glad you had time with the olders, it's good to have you back. angel97701 I'm so sorry you don't have the support you need there for DS. I hope someone will step up and get needed training. But it sounds like you are going full steam ahead on crafting Neisey that kitty sounds so precious. I think I would want to keep them all lol. I'm feeling pretty much back to normal and thankful for that! With all the Black Friday sales that will likely be going on, do you have your eye on anything in particular? I don't have at the moment, but I'm sure I'll see something in a thread here soon that will fill me FOMO LOL

And linda that sounds like a huge adventure getting home. I’m sure you were glad to see your bed and be home. Have a wonderful weekend!! No shopping for me as I need to stay frozen!!

Just finished a week of 4 days (well 3.5 days) of subbing. Busy and had to leave early due to road conditions. We have winter here already! Talked with the VP after I got the written confirmation from the drug addiction program . . . he and I are confused as to how the district can contract with them, yet they turn my DS down? The VP will be moving up the chain in district administration to see what can be done. So we are on the same page. DS took a bike ride yesterday, without notifying anyone, any normal kid this might be OK, but I went looking for him and he got a lesson on better communication. Remember how we decided to buy a cabin 1670 miles from our home in Oregon to see if we liked living on a lake in Minnesota? Well we did look at one home when we were there and have been working with a realtor since. Just found a home that is beautiful! Home link On the market for three days, and at its price point it will go fast due to the location on the main lake and the updates on the interior. For us to actually be able to get an offer in that is competitive? We are looking into bridge loans as our home here in Central Oregon is not even listed, nor have we contracted with a good real estate agent here. It is worth dreaming I guess! We did a virtual tour of the home today. Smaller than what we are in now, much less upkeep of acreage! We have 6 acres right now, with water rights to 4 acres. A mini farm is a lot of work, and we are ready to do the lake life instead. Including the winter!
Life is too short, my husband needs to be somewhere that he can go out sailing as soon as he finishes a virtual engineering meeting, then come back in and do more work from home. I say that because an acquaintance of mine that I've know for 30+ years had a stroke while kite boarding in Baja, Mexico eleven months ago. He was only 61 and passed away last week. That really hit home for me, I don't want to have regrets to not move to a lake where DH can do what he truly enjoys several times a week instead of once or twice a year! My Mom is coming to visit for about 9 days! Since Dad passed she's not been over the mountains to visit. She is coming for my birthday (next Tuesday) until just before Thanksgiving. I am really looking forward to spending time with her. The sad side is, DH will leave on 11/14 the day before my birthday to go be with his best friend since First grade. His wife passed last month from cancer, and her viewing and service are 11/15 and 11/16. I wish I could have joined him, but it is too hard to leave DS. Plus we can't take him with as it is the first official week of his favorite sport, wrestling. He has 5 hour pre-season camp today, and again tomorrow.
It was nice to have some time to deal withe the mentioned home above. Scanned all taxes for 2020 and 2021(S corp and personal) only 128 pages. Filled out loan application, etc.
Hope everyone is feeling better, and having some fun this weekend. We've honored our Veteran's here, and I've sent a few personal notes.

Happy Birthday angel97701!!!! Hope your day and visit are warm and lovely. Had a screening colonoscopy, ugh, and now I have a mild case of aspiration pneumonia from reflux during anesthesia. Double ugh. Good thing I went into it pretty healthy. I have a follow up today for my regular doctor to listen and see how that is going. We're expecting a little snow later today, nothing deep but there may be some ice during the transition. I'm jealous of the people who were working on ALL their Christmas cards last weekend. I have some from last month but I have far to go. I want to make some for the second grade class where I volunteer (12 kids). Hope the Glue Crew is getting ready for the thankfulness and family times of Thanksgiving.

Taking this week off from subbing as DH went to the airport yesterday and my mom came to visit for over a week. The first time since before Covid! It is so nice she is here while DH is with his best friend from 1st grade (and Best Man at our wedding). BF's dear wife passed from cancer 3 weeks ago and her service is tomorrow.
Had a broker out to look at our home and he and his partner were very upbeat and excited. Of course I have a ton of work to do to get it ready for photos, showing, and moving. The good news is that it is worth at least what we thought, and will help us get a dream property on the lake. Just have to be patient and let a few things work their way through.
Even finished a page last night! Off to the sharing thread.
Thank you for the birthday wishes! So far 63 isn't looking too bad. My thyroid medication seems to be starting to work, and that is a blessing. Just hope DS holds it together until his Dad gets home!

Hey Crew! Happy Birthday angel97701! Been missing you in our crops. I hope you'll have some time to pop in and say hi. That's a lovely home you're looking at. It's fabulous that you get to spend so much time with your mom. I hope DS can keep it together for you. jjpeapea I hope you are feeling better. Double ugh is right! I only make a handful of Christmas cards each year and I'm cheating and using card kits this year lol. Is anyone doing a gratitude or 30 day type of journal or album for this month? I really need to go get some of the prompt photos from the gratitude thread. I really have no idea where all my time goes. The days have been speeding by so fast lately. I did check out a new to me LSS but that was a bust. It's an old school store with no online presence and no new product. The newest stuff I saw was some Reminisce from 4 years or so ago. Lots and lots of K&Co though. No American crafts to speak of, it was like taking a trip back in time. Way back lol. But she does days crops a couple of times a month, so I may be back there lol. We had our first dusting of snow this morning. It's settled into the 30s for the high during the day for the next week or so. brrrrr. What time is everyone that's having a Thanksgiving gathering celebrating? I'm trying to juggle three people and their schedules for something on Thursday. One of the three has to work that day, and they are all going to be going to the otherside of the family in the evening. And two of the three work the entire weekend. This is a puzzle lol. I hope you are all having a crafty quarter so far! I'm continuing work on DGSs blanket. I'll try to get a pic and post it later.

Hello. no gratitude journal for me - I am swamped in photos and don't need any extra projects. I did a mini album for Thanksgiving one year (2014 maybe) in a Chatterbox album and that was fun but I tend to think of those sort of projects as a once and done kind of thing and prefer to focus on the family and trip albums. joyfulnana - sorry about the LSS. Thanksgiving here will be mid-late afternoon depending on how early I get the bird going. It's just the three of us so no schedules to work around. In years past we've done Friday or weekend Thanksgivings to accommodate schedules. I actually grew up with weekend Thanksgivings because my American mum would host when we were living overseas and Thanksgiving wasn't a day off work for anyone on British bases, lol.

I've been sorting photos today - six photo orders that arrived while I was gone.
First I sorted into broad groups - family, DH/DD's trip in July, DH's Dallas trip, DS's Boston trip, DS's Legoland Malaysia trip, and DS/DD's photos - that took just over 2 hours.
Then I've been sorting by layout into albums in preparation for scrapping. I've gotten the family photos and the July trip sorted so far. That's been another 3 hours.
I want to scrap...

Good luck with your sorting Linda! I agree with you about the mini albums or 30 days projects, I don't tend to do those, but once in awhile gives you a glimpse of a year which is nice. I always want to scrap the most when I can't lol.. I've been known to have Thanksgiving dinner on the Sunday before or after as well. I haven't bought anything yet for said dinner either and I can't believe it's next weekend! That's a bummer about the house angel97701, but hopefully you'll find something you love as much when you are ready.

While mom is visiting I started sorting stuff under and around the desk across from where I usually scrap and make cards. You know the dumping ground! Got it to a point where she can sit across from me! Then I was on a roll to put away the huge collection of "newish" items I've had in a box for at least 18 months maybe longer? Got dies, stamps/die/stencil sets, organized and put away into my storage system. I also keep Excel spread sheets of those $$$ dies and sets, so I like to have them cataloged before I put them away. Yeah me!
Now I might actually do a page or two!
Both my birthday and DS's birthday were last week. We (Mom, In-laws, DS) went out for dinner while DH was with his best friend. Then on Wednesday I started cooking the brisket that DS love to have on his birthday. When the weather is this cold it takes a LOOOOOOOOOOONG time! I don't want to run the Traeger overnight, so I restart back at 40 degrees from the frig on two days. I smoked it the first day. It was yummy!
Here in Central Oregon we get the entire Thanksgiving week off. Have for at least 2 decades. So it is break week. No subbing, just planning, maybe packing, decorating for Christmas, etc! Oh and of course, Thanksgiving dinner. I am hosting In Laws this year. Don't know if DSD will come down or not. Small Turkey, small ham and the fixings.
Have a good holiday week everyone!

Happy Thanksgiving to all. It will be DH, DS, DSD (drove from Seattle), and In-laws. My Mom went home to Salem on Tuesday to cook dinner for my brother/wife, sister/husband, and a few nieces and nephews.
I am working on putting 18 year old wedding cards in an old strap hinge album. Using ancient HOTP/Paper Wishes paper that you tear out of books. They are not true 12" x 12" but neither is the strap hinge album pages. So it works together! Yeah me!

Happy Thanksgiving weekend and Happy Black Friday sales It will be me and one DS today. So we'll have an easy lunch and catch up on our show we've been watching lol. Other DS is sick with flu like symptoms, so I'll take him a plate later. It's going to be nice chill day here. Scrapping online with my mom and niece tomorrow. We'll see how much shopping I do during that crop lol. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend with family and friends!

We are at the end of the rope, hanging on to the knot. Our son with FASD is now age 17, has been dealing with addiction issues for 5 years. We have used all resources available, including working with a FASD behavioral specialist directly, and having DS evaluated locally by a neuropsychologist. Additional diagnosis includes genetic predisposition to addiction. We've been working with his school, where he has access to vape paraphernalia, etc. He is aware of the consequences of choosing drugs over family, and we've reinforced this time and time again with the tools we've been taught.
However, he chose to bring into our home vape paraphernalia both nicotine and marijuana yesterday. He of course lied about it until we found it . . . we are looking at our options, including alternative placement, Youth Challenge program, inpatient care, etc. In our state a child, whether they are capable or not may make their own medical decisions at age 14, so we've not been able to "force" him to do addiction counseling, although it has been recommended numerous times.
I am heart-broken, working a sub job today to get my mind off of what is going on at home, processing what our next steps might be . . . Oregon Youth Challenge, inpatient care, foster care, youth homeless shelter. We cannot allow him to bring these things into our home against our express rules. It's going to be a rough December!

Hey team! We are trying out a new way of counting that hopefully will be easier, just as the Mad Hatter likes "Clean Plate!"s, we sometimes like to have NEW RULES! NEW RULES! We usually don't do anything team related during December so we thought this was a good time to try this out and see what everyone thinks.
For the month of December, let's see how many of the Q-4 challenges we can knock off. Presenting to you...
Making a List and Checking it ONCE:
Print off a copy of the Q-3 challenges. Count any points you earn in December by any method you prefer--Old School or Easy Peasy--then, on your new fresh challenge list, check off each challenge you meet for the first time that month. So no matter which challenge it was, if you used it once or ten times in December, it gets ONE checkmark.
At the end of December, count up your check marks, and award yourself bonus points as follows:
There are about 100 challenges this month (wow...) so we could say: 5 DIFFERENT challenges met = 25 points 10 = 50 20 = 150 30 = 300 40 = 450 50 = 600 60 = 750 70 = 900 80 = 1100 90 = 1300 100 = 1500
Let me know if you have any questions!

angel97701 I'm so sorry ((((hugs)))). This has to be one of the hardest challenges of being a parent. I don't have the extra layer of a FASD diagnosis, but I do have a son who struggles with addiction and my heart breaks for you. Did anyone shop the BF scrappy sales? They seemed to be better than the past couple of years. What did you get? I'll have to live vicariously through you as I did not spend one dime. And of course, now that the sales are over I'm kicking myself. A little. There were things that I would have liked to have, but I'm working more on using what I already bought and trying to make any kind of dent in my stash lol.

angel97701 I am so sorry that your DS has been struggling so much with his addiction. I'm sure the whole family is feeling the stress and challenges. I hope his counselors and support team are helping you weigh your options. Black Friday shopping - I did go to Joann's and they had an additional 50% off papercrafting, including 50% off already marked down clearance. So against my better judgement, I picked up some embellishments and sheets of Jen Hadfield's fallish/desert line, Maggie Holmes Round trip, maybe a few other random things. I honestly didn't go crazy because I do want to use what I have, but I already know those papers will be perfect for my upcoming photos. I also got an office chair from Office Depot that was on sale, but that's not for scrapping. Edited to add: I also picked up a Christmas paper pad at Joann, which I really didn't need! But it's so pretty!
