yep! I have a couple of spots ready for them to come live in my scrap room. But if Tim made a color called Puke Green, I'd probably buy that too.

Interesting. It seems identical to Festive Berries. I thought so too. I think I need to see this one in person to make a decision. If it is a true red (not blue, coral, pink, or orange) it will come live at my house. Otherwise, no thank you.

I just watched his live and I cann see a difference between the colors on his swatch. He did say that the paper you use makes a difference too.
Next two colors will be neutral and his favorites. Something brown and gray probably.

Just spotted the color on someone’s IG. For a change I guessed correctly! I guess I’ll put the replay on for a bit and see what TH has to say about it.
I have this fantasy that one day they will declare that this is it, no more new ink colors, and then I can choose which ones I want without second guessing whether a slightly better version will come out in 6 months. (yeah, right. Capitalism says don’t be silly.)

Interesting. It seems identical to Festive Berries. I agree - too similar for me to need it even though I planned to buy it before the release!!! Although I like the name a lot I think the scrapbook.com photo is a bit off compared Tim’s photos plus how he described the red—but every screen shows color differently. Tim’s photos show the red more beefy, beefier, “real” red, no pink undertone like the Oxide in their photo. Cheiron Brandon’s three little “Merry” cards on Tim’s blog are shown with six different colors and I bet they’re spot on—at least on this screen. They’re past the swatches in the makes. Middle of the second row. timholtz.com/distress-color-lumberjack-plaid/

At least that’s how that type of red was referred to for paint and when talking color theory. I don’t use much red and have all the others, but probably will get the glaze and the two inks. It still could have a place when doing red-pink-orange-yellow blends, maybe better than what I’d used in the past.

Though if enough people badger Ranger for more, who’s knows.

Not deep Christmas red red lol So technical I know 😆

But the red in the Tim video and some of the photos on his blog seem more true red. Even those had some variation because you know, photos. And screens. But the name plus how Tim described it along with a bunch of the photos makes me think (fingers crossed) true red. I guess I’ll place an order to find out.

Heidi Swapp showed it on her Instagram and it looks like a real red on her projects to me.

I think Cheiron Brandon’s 6+ minute video of her projects on her youtube channel shows the color well up close and personal. Especially the circles on kraft and the trio of “Merry” cards. youtu.be/cjw7kIzBV4Q

sb.com have a video up which I think also shows the colour compared to the other reds quite clearly. The tags with all the reds is at 1:17 sb.com videoIt definitely appears to have a pink undertone on my monitor, and I own a bunch of reds already so don't anticipate buying this one.

Comparing the other reds in the video to mine, their colors are a little off. Not a criticism—it’s so common from lighting and screens. But I get not buying this red, especially if not using red much. I’m getting it since I have full set syndrome for Distress and Oxides. Thankfully I don’t have it for other ink brands.

Looking at Cheiron's YouTube video, the red looks really pretty. I'll get it, but I'd get it no matter what - in the Oxides, at least - because I like to have a full set.
There does seem to be quite a difference between the dye and the oxide. I'll probably buy the distress spray stain, too, for this reason.

Now that I have seen it in several YouTube videos, it really reads as a pink to me. I think the Festive Berries one reads more red.

Yes, now that you say that I remember there were going to be 60 (back when I first started collecting oxides) and then they announced the new 12 that we're nearing the end of.

I noticed the big difference between the traditional distress and the oxide too. To me the oxidized version looks a lot more pink and the distress is a truer red (at least from what I could see). I actually liked the look of the paint although I'm always tempted by the spray stains. What do you do with them? Mostly backgrounds?

I ordered the ink, oxide and stain sight unseen. I like a full-set. It’s the only brand I do. Since I was missing pumice stone I ordered it at the same time.😀

I think the oxide may be less of a true red. I am ordering both. However, Heidi Swapp’s description has it as a true red. Oxides are my favorite inks and Christmas tags are my favorite projects. And yes, I too, if it was Puke Green, I would have to have the oxide.

Jennifer McGuire's most recent video shows it compared to the other reds, and it looks like a cool red, in her video.

Based on what I've seen I'm thinking that the more water you add to the oxide the more pink tones you're going to get. That makes sense since all of the oxides create a chalky whitish finish when you add water, and red + white = pink. I think if you use the oxide for blending or stamping it will read as a true red but if you do wet smooshy techniques it will oxidize a little pinkish.
The paint and regular distress look to be what I would call a true red.

All that. ^ And colors other than red become lighter versions of themselves if lightened with water/white paint/white ink/etc. There are an infinite number of shades of blue from midnight to powder blue and beyond, but they all read blue. Same with other primary or secondary colors. Red is the oddball. When a true red is lightened, it quickly goes pink.

Red is my favourite colour and I love it, but they looked super close to me in the swatches. The jury is still out on this one for me. I tend not to do much with red in terms of backgrounds or splattering because my page always ends up looking like a crime scene. If I decide I need it, I would likely just use it for stamping and inking my edges—the responsible thing to do would be to choose between the regular and oxide ink pad.

Great to post that. I love the chart. It’s also amusing because the squares have become so much smaller as more colors have been added. I used finger daubers to put two dots of color on each square, one double stamping (darker) and one single. And for Oxides one double stamped and one doubled with a spritz of water. (I cut a circle in a small piece of watercolor paper so the water was only spritzed on the one dot.) But the squares are so little now I just use one dot. Ranger has a lot of organizing pdfs, labels too. And label paper that fits the pads and tops of bottles that holds ink well. Not affiliated. rangerink.com/pages/organize-your-ranger-productsAnd Jennifer McGuire has pdfs of already labeled squares to make 2’ swatches, if anyone is interested.

But I'm not liking it at all in this image. In other places the candied apple is too bright but I like it in this swatch. I think I might end up going with the barn door. Does anyone have any links to swatches like the one above. I will not be getting the oxide so I don't need that.
