This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . If you are doing the Team Challenges, this challenge is worth one point for each page/project when you complete all 4. So that's 4 points for completing the Pokey Pea Challenge.

Good morning, Pokeys! Happy November. I hope this month brings less illness and loss and more fun to everyone!
Yesterday I brought my scrap crap all in from the vehicle and put my tools and smaller elements away. The papers are still in the rolly totes. And I photographed and shared half of the LO's I did there. This morning I photographed a couple more of those LO's. And I finished the cover page for my family calendar this morning. Pretty simple. The hardest part was finding the eight photos I wanted to put on it. Will share those in a bit.
Heading into town soon for 10% Tuesday. Might as well get my staples while all the groceries are discounted, and I need supplies for doing something with the pumpkin and tomato I need to cook up this week.

Happy November Pokey's! Thanks for starting us nylene. Although October sure did fly by! Still a covid sicky here, I didn't take your advice or my own grammadee lol. I didn't "do" much of anything yesterday, but I was feeling better enough to be up moving around and not sleeping all day. By evening, I was ready for bed and sleep lol. I feel pretty much the same today, not terrible, just tired, so I think there will be more laying in front of the TV today lol. But my boss told me yesterday not to worry, they have my hours covered for as long as needed. That doesn't entirely take away the internal pressure to hurry up and get back to work, but it does help, so I'm not going to to force myself back before I'm much closer to 100%. I did piddle around matching up some photos and sketches for the day I feel good enough to craft, but not good enough to be at work (tommorrow I hope lol) I sure do get a lot of FOMO hearing about your crops grammadee, even though I don't get anything done when I go to a crop. It's just fun to be with other scrappers. I hope there is no new sickness or other bad luck befalling any Pokey's for November!

and November happened? We had only 6 trick-or-treaters yesterday Our house is on a fairly busy street, but we're in a small isolated segment of only 3 houses that the kids often skip (they turn around and do the other side of the street). Plus, it was very damp out - misty rain - so I'm not sure how many young ones didn't go out. I'm back to work and honestly it feels OK - I have to be careful about my conversations or I will get leaky, but otherwise I'm coping. I am NOT feeling social: tonight I'm supposed to have tap class, and I REALLY don't want to go. I made the decision to sign up for the Spring "Crop and Create" Cards event. I did 2 previously, but skipped the most recent as I felt like I have TOO MUCH already, and need to use what I have, not just accumulate more. But I did miss participating. And after this hard month I thought I deserved a treat. However, when I went to sign up, the price has gone up $30, and after event/tax/shipping it's close to $400. I just couldn't do it! Instead, I signed up ($35) for the Holiday Card Workshop by Jennifer McGuire and Kristina Werner, and will try to make all those cards with supplies I already own. Glad you are feeling a little better joyfulnana, but don't rush back to work - you'll be exhausted. grammadee - I made pumpkin "whoopie pies" Sunday - they are gone now - my kids LOVE those. And if you feed your cats wet food at all, consider mixing in a tbsp of cooked pumpkin puree - it's good for them apparently, and my cats are gobbling it up! Cheap way to make that canned food go further.

grammadee, I can't believe you have finished 28 pages. You are a Speedy Pokey Pea! I'm sorry your body is complaining from carrying all those lovely scrap supplies around. I hope you heal soon. It will take me a while to see all your pages, but what I have seen are wonderful. gramma, have you had the medical appts for DH's dizziness yet? Hope they have some answers. Hugs! joyfulnana, I am so sorry you are sick. Please take it easy. I have heard of too many people who get up thinking they are feeling better and then Covid returns and they crash. This is a good time to watch TV and give Abby a lot of attention. Hope Rudy and mom are still negative. kitbop, I'm glad you are back to work but I know the tears sometimes start out of nowhere. Hugs to you and your family. I have never heard of "whoopie pies". I need details. It was so nice to visit with you online. We have soft, beautiful snowflakes falling right now. It looks like a wonderland, but won't feel like it when we have to go out later today. It makes me eager to get my Christmas Village set up. I will wait until Thanksgiving, but no later. We had lots of Trick-or-Treaters, but not many from our own neighborhood. We saw lots of cars pull up and unload a bunch of kids and leave. One of the kids in Alex's class told me her parents take them to the rich houses and drop them off where the candy is really good. LOL...they picked the wrong area on our corner! On down the street there are homes that go together and serve hot dogs, chips, etc. and have places for children (and parents) to sit outside and visit. Maybe that was where they were headed! But they visited us on the way! I need to try to catch up on all of October projects that I didn't have time to enjoy. I hope to finish a few more cards too.

I have never heard of "whoopie pies". Just 2 soft cakey cookies (traditionally chocolate, but we love pumpkin) sandwiched around thick creamy filling that isn't quite as sweet as icing. Like little Debbie oatmeal cream pies, but far better

Cookie Dough (I double+ the spices because that's the way my family likes it! Add a little extra salt, and double the vanilla!) 2 cups packed brown sugar 1 cup vegetable oil 1 ½ cups solid pack pumpkin puree 2 large eggs 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 ½ tablespoons ground cinnamon ½ tablespoon ground ginger ½ tablespoon ground cloves 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon vanilla extract -beat together wet/sugar ingredients, then mix in the dry until just combined - drop by rounded tablespoons onto parchment or greased baking sheet. Try to make matched pairs - 350 degrees about 12 minutes (I test with a toothpick like I would a muffin) Whoopie Pie Filling - this is what I typically use - but for company I use meringue powder instead of the egg white. This time, I did a marshmallow fluff + cream cheese filling. It was very good but it was my own concoction, no recipe! 1 egg white 2 tablespoons milk 2 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 cups confectioners' sugar ¾ cup shortening (butter tastes better but it's not as "sturdy" or white) - beat egg white, milk and vanilla, then add 1 c sugar. Mix, then beat in shortening/butter and remaining 1c sugar until light and fluffy.

Thanks, kitbop! I think I will make muffins and maybe a Christmas loaf today, but cooked up less than half the pumpkins I had left yesterday and will have at least 12 cups of pumpkin puree. Will definitely be making some of these cookies when dgs is here. Thinking there will be pictures of the process and the product, and a couple of pages... Who could resist the title "Whoopie Pies"? Today I plan to cook up some more pumpkin and do some baking. Tomorrow I need to cook a bunch of tomatoes for lasagna on Saturday. Now that we have a couple of inches of white stuff on the ground it is time to MOVE ON from garden harvest and get started on holiday prep--cards and cookies--but I have to deal with the veggies that have ripened in my basement and garage. Also hoping to photograph the last two LO's from the crop and get all the pages stowed into albums. What are the rest of the Pokeys up to this Wednesday?

I'm having a very slow quarter of scrapping. This is from a visit from DH's daughter, grand daughters and their kids. Sort of stark and plain but I wanted the focus on the pictures. 20221104_200313 by CLAUDIA LOVELESS, on Flickr

I hate to say it, but Em and I tested positive for Covid on Thursday. We both got sick the morning after doing the Halloween Party at school. we have both been so careful, but someone in that class must have had Covid. I am glad to be immunized because I would hate to fight this off with no immunity. I am mostly just sleeping and trying not to groan. gramma, your pages are beautiful. Those are precious photos,

Oh Nylene - darn, darn, darn. Please take care.
For the first time since Covid hit we had a Halloween party for the folks we serve. It was such a happy crowd. The woman I work for tested positive on Thursday. Evil, nasty, sneaky bug!!

Sort of stark and plain but I wanted the focus on the pictures. Those are precious photos and your LO gives them the prominence they deserve. Stupid Covid! nylene I hope you feel better soon and that your dh doesn't get sick. gramma, I hope the bug passes you by. Wondering how you are feeling this week, joyfulnana. kitbop we made Whoopie Pies today. I shared a few pic's in the Gift of Gratitude thread.

I'm struggling to be grateful this year what with all the issues we're experiencing and seeing all over the news! grammadee, your thread is so positive and I'll make myself hustle over and participate. I'm glad the whoopie pies worked out for you. They don't last long in our house. Today we went out for lunch as a whole family as the stars aligned and everyone was home. I didn't take a picture because that's the frame of mind I'm in...meh... but katie did thank goodness. nylene - I'm so sorry the covid found you. You've been so careful, and you just got thru everything with Steve: this seems extra cruel. I hope it stays mild and that you get more comfortable quickly. Anyone around for a pop-up crop tonight or tomorrow? joyfulnana - how are you feeling and do you have Rudy? What's the football game situations gramma? nylene - we'll give you a "buy" this week

I have heard of too many people who get up thinking they are feeling better and then Covid returns and they crash. This is a good time to watch TV and give Abby a lot of attention. Hope Rudy and mom are still negative. Mom and Rudy are still negative and even though I can be around others now with a mask, Rudy won't be coming here for practice tomorrow. No need to take chances with him or the new baby coming. And I just saw your post that you are positive. Just rest nylene, don't try to do things. Lots of sleep, lots of fluids. Treat yourself with care please! I hate this. I hope there will be someone to help out with DH for you. gramma, your work too?! Ugh! I don't even know where I could have picked it up. I go to all the same places I've always gone. But it spreads as fast as a cold now I guess. Your LO is Beautiful!! Nothing stark and plain about it. I see timeless and classic. ((((hugs kitbop)))) I'm sorry you are struggling, but it's completely understandable. Be good to yourself please! I've been running around all day and I'm going to see Joel for a bit this evening. He's ok to take a chance with But I had definitely been thinking about tomorrow. My game is the evening one and that afternoon time slot seemed like a pretty good one didn't it? grammadee I hadn't noticed the Gratitude thread! It sounds so perfect for this little band of peas that are having a tough year. I'll hop over and check that out and start thinking about things through that lens this month. I ended up taking the whole week off. Finally felt good yesterday, so I cleaned and did all the laundry and worked on that blanket a little. By 8:30pm I was bone tired and in bed before 9 lol. I was feeling a little shaky this morning, but I finally had my first real meal today and that has helped, a LOT. I've been surviving on soup, grilled cheese, ramen and oatmeal lol. Still not 100% but much, much closer to that.

nylene, I am worried about you, too. joyfulnana are you working from home today? Or did you take some more time off to recover your energy? Hope you gals had fun with the crop. I was busy making lasagna. I have pic's of tomatoes being picked, so think I might make another page like my Pumpkin Watch one with tomatoes. Without the embossing folder, I think the pumpkin die would work. Will need to think of something to represent lasagna since I didn't take a pic--and mine is usually nowhere near picture perfect LOL. Starting 3rd day of dgs being here and first full day of having him sans parents. So far we have made Christmas cards for his cousins and a birthday card for his auntie. I have a dr appointment later this morning, so he will be helping Grampa while I am gone.

Just got back today from my trip - I extended it a little in order to have a bit more time with DS as he had a surprise Hawaii detachment right as I arrived (I got in Monday morning and he left on Tuesday before dawn and arrived back on the Sunday after spending an overnight on the floor at Dulles... not the best way to celebrate his birthday (that Saturday). I'm exhausted - left their house at 715 last night and they dropped me at the train station about 830 for a 940 train that got delayed until 1015pm - got off the train this mornning at 915am (no I can't sleep on the train) and had to wait at the station until 12 for DH to pick me up as he had a 930 dr appt (f/u for his eye surgery). Stopped for lunch on our way home and then to vote so wasn't home until just past 3. Had a wonderful time though. nylene - praying for you
