nylene - glad to see you posting. Please take care of yourself. ((((Hugs)))) and prayers. I have all the trip photos sorted, labelled, a selection uploaded to FB (PM me if you're on FB and want to be friends), and I'm working on placing photo orders.

nylene! Sooo glad to see you posting! You'll still need to be getting lots of rest. I hope you're feeling better in time for Thanksgiving and it sounds like it won't be too much work since you aren't hosting We'll be glad to see when you are feeling up to saying hi during a crop. Linda I can't even imagine the amount of photos you are dealing with right now, but it also sounds fun to have lots of fresh new photos to scrap. grammadee I'm stealing all your mantras, they are perfect! ((((hugs))) kitbop, let yourself take it easy this year if that's what is best for you. And I agree with everyone else, that there is nothing unusual about waiting until Spring. knutschen, I'm not sure I would have given up vacation time to work, but I'm glad they appreciated it and made sure you knew they did! So I checked out that LSS Saturday. It was a store with a lot of older product. Lots and lots of K&Co and even some mini album kits from names I recognized from CK. The only American Crafts was Shimelle's Head in the Clouds, and that was maybe two papers from the line. It was disappointing. She has day crops twice a month so I may consider that. I did pick up a Martha Stewart punch I had been on the look out for, for about 3 or 4 years now. And she had it marked down to $7. It's the photo corner punch, and I've seen it on ebay for $30+ since it's discontinued. So there was a gem to find lol. I'm waiting for Rudy to come by. I haven't seen him since I had Covid and I'm ready to see his face. And trying to figure out when I'm going to manage to have Thanksgiving dinner juggling three schedules. One of them that has to work on Thanksgiving. No scrapping, but lots of knitting. I'll post a picture later of the blanket I'm making. kellyr21 how is the construction going? What constructing are they doing? Some good upgrades I hope!

So glad you felt up to posting, nylene. I hope that means you will be back to yourself, soon. Please take it easy. Glad that Thanksgiving will bring both family and relief from hosting: you really need to sit back and just soak up the love, not running yourself ragged looking after everyone. joyfulnana, you are welcome to my "mantras": no need for thievery LOL. BTW, the hardest person to convince of all those needs was ME. Did you get to see Rudy yesterday? Yeah, they play you out, but you miss 'em when they are gone. Mine are growing up so fast. One morning when he was here, dgs crawled into bed with me early in the morning, and I was torn between wishing it wasn't so early and thinking early morning snuggles will too soon be something of the past. Glad you got those photos sorted & labeled, Linda. I printed a few Halloween pic's yesterday, but need to go through them and check which ones DIDN'T print. I can put those on the stick and get them printed next time. Or if I just need one or two, I could print at home. Had a fun evening at justjac's. Got home a little late--for me--so I am a little lodgy this morning. Chugged my first cup of coffee, but thinking I will need at least a couple more... I want to work on a couple of the ideas I came up with while driving. (The best ideas always pop in when there is no time to do anything about them!) Made a few notes when I got home. Hope I can do what I imagined i could. Have a wonderful Wednesday, Pokeys!

joyfulnana - sorry about the LSS. Hope you had fun with Rudy - don't let him wear you out! grammadee - it's always ourselves that are hardest to talk into self-care, isn't it? combed three of the cats, combed and bathed a fourth. One more to go (he'll need the bath as well). Got my Thanksgiving cards in the mail and caught up on my letter writing. Need to do some housework but hopefully some scrappy time this afternoon as well. Groceries tonight and then the next episode of Andor with DH and DD

I feel like I am coming up for air! Yesterday I took DH to 3 appts we have had to put off. All I did was sit in the car and wait, but I came home just worn out. At this rate I will never have the strength I need for the holidays. I am breathing more easily and the only time I have a coughing fit is when I try to talk. So I guess that means I need to shut up! I hope each of you are well at the moment and stay that way through the holidays. justjac, are you doing better? joyfulnana, I giggled at your excitement at finding the MS punch. Isn't it fun to find something you have longed for and on sale besides! Will you have Rudy this weekend? Isn't the baby due soon? grammadee, it sounds like you have had some fun scrappy time with justjac and with the grands. I hope to get into the gallery today to do some commenting. I am embarrassed that I have not commented on projects the last 2 months. Time has just slipped away with illness and surgeries. Linda, I am in awe of all the photos you have to scrap. I need to catch up with your projects for Oct and Nov. Thank you for the FB invite. I am not on Facebook. I have lived without it and just haven't joined. 2peas is my only social media and obviously I am not keeping up with it very well. Good luck on getting all those photos on pages!! kellyr21, have they finished the outside construction yet? It's hard living with loud noises all day. They have recently rebuilt the house across the street from us and the pounding of nail guns made my ears tired all day. I hope you are in for some peace and quiet soon. When my son builds a home with other homes close around, he takes pies and a thanks for putting up with our noise and dust, to each home when the project finishes. I don't imagine they have brought any pies around to you?? gramma, that Halloween layout is fabulous! What a little darling. You do such clever pages. How are thing going on your house? Have you worked out the problems? I hope you have found some help for DH's dizziness. I would love to sit here all day and read and enjoy, but I am going to slowly work through things in the house that have been neglected. The CA kids will be here on Monday. I know that whatever doesn't get done doesn't matter, but I would like to accomplish something this month! Have a Happy Thursday! (it is Thursday, isn't it....I had to check my phone!) I've lost a bunch of days.

nylene I am so glad that you are on the mend. I was up to 90% feeling good Tuesday, but I think I went back down to 80% yesterday. All I have left is a cough and it's mostly quiet but when it flares up, it's like my lungs are trying to escape. I'm coming up on two weeks with this cold, so I might go to the doctor next week. I've done four covid tests and they were all negative, but I'm still suspicious. grammadee it was so nice to see you at book club. We read Trick or Treat Murder and although it was not my favourite book, it did give us a lot to talk about. Linda good luck with all the pet grooming. I can barely keep myself groomed! Yesterday was Dean's birthday, but since he had a meeting in the evening, I got my nails done. We are going out for supper with his dad and brother today. Being sick has made me feel behind in my Christmas preparation. I have made some cards, but I didn't get a nice picture of us to include and I haven't written a letter yet. We didn't get our outside lights up before the snow, so I don't know if we will do them or not. It depends on how ambitious Dean feels since he's the one who climbs the ladder. I'm planning to make my peanut brittle this weekend and get some mailed off next week. I work until December 22, but then I don't go back until January 9. There is a craft fair this weekend that I plan to check out. grammadee are you making the trip to check it out?

nylene - I'm glad you're starting to feel better - don't overdo things and prolong matters. justjac - I'm glad you're feeling better also. It sounds like you have something similar to what I had in the summer - we all had multiple negative Covid tests but I was sick for 3+ weeks and honestly it was worse that the actual covid in October. Happy Birthday to Dean! I've been sorting the 6 orders of photos that came in over my vacation. Already sorted by layout are DH/DD's July trip, DH's Dallas trip, the family pictures, DS/DD's pictures, and DS's Boston trip. I just have one more stack of photos to sort into albums - the Legoland Malaysia ones (and .... possibly the Singapore...I think they are printed but not sorted - same trip). That'll be this afternoon's project. And then maybe I can get started on scrapping them before the NEXT photo order arrives tomorrow (more family pictures plus MY trip). DD is camping this weekend - she'll need to pack warm, it's getting chilly here -lows in the 30's highs in the 50s (yes, I know that's Spring weather to our Canadians, lol). I'm loving having the windows open though!

Happy Thursday evening, Pokeys. Glad you are slowly feeling better, nylene. Please be kind to yourself. justjac I won't be making it to the craft fair this year. One trip to Lloyd this week is probably enough. I hope you find some fun things there. Hearing about your combing and bathing cats, Linda, makes me happy ours live [mostly] in the garage or outside! I did ten more quick cards today and then played around with a couple of die sets I absolutely HAD to have and then hadn't used for any of my cards yet. The Santa is a Jaded Blossom gnome with some extra pieces from their November gnome add-on release. The sled is from Spellbinders. Santa sledding by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I also did a couple of cards the way I was "supposed to", using the SB skates dies that came with the sled. But the Santa sledding ones were more fun, so I am still working on finishing a bunch more of those instead of going ahead with more pretty skate/sled combos. Spellbinders sled & skates by Gramma Dee, on Flickr When I have finished my Santa cards I will have a count of 80, and I need 100 cards. So I should be done by the end of the weekend and can start working on the Christmas letter. Have not started baking yet. Hoping to pick up some supplies when I get groceries tomorrow. I couldn't find almond paste anywhere locally and I usually start my holiday baking with my almond crisps. I ended up ordering some from Amazon. It won't be here until the end of next week, so I will need to start with something else instead. Don't know if this old dog can manage that LOL. I DO want to have most of my baking done before leaving to do some grandparenting early December, so I had best figure it out soon!

awesome cards grammadee - the skate ones are pretty but I agree, the santa ones are more fun! No baking here yet either - need to get at least one of the turkeys (we have 3) out of the freezer before I can start putting holiday treats in. DD16 is off all next week so we'll at least make pies and sugar cookies for Thanksgiving together. And with Advent starting the Sunday after Thanksgiving, I do need to have baked at least some cookies for our celebration. Finally finishing sorting all those photos. Need to get more page protectors before I can sort the two orders arriving tomorrow. So hoping to get some scrapping in tonight and tomorrow during the day - we have to drop DD at camp after school tomorrow - that'll be about a 3hr round trip (and then again on Sunday). Dinner tonight is super easy - french toast made with chocolate chip brioche bread...not healthy but tasty.

nylene - so nice to see you! Your recovery sounds pretty normal for what I've seen of covid - it takes time to build back up. I think we were 3 weeks before we could push ourselves even a little! I'm so glad you get to spend some holiday time with your family coming in from CA! justjac - sorry your recovery is lagging too! Christmas lights are something we let slide if the weather gets too cold in November. I can't bear putting them up in October, so unless we get a thaw, they may not be put up this year at our house either. I'm in the middle of a layout, and I'm unsure tonight whether to finish it, or set it aside and start Christmas cards. I need to make about 20 in the next 2 weeks, and then 30 more before Christmas. I think I still have some from last year when I did a "mix and match" approach. grammadee - the sled is a fabulous die, with Santa or skates! Congrats on getting so many cards made in a short period of time. I bought the "JOY" spellbinders die that has all the stitching holes. Maybe I'll start by die cutting and stitching a few of those.

So happy to see your starting feel better nylene , but don't push too much! I still have a cough, and I'm STILL raspy. My throat feels irritated quite a lot. And I agree the talking doesn't help lol justjac , I still have a cough too, I hope you find out what it is you have. You and Dean have had rougher year, I would be of the mind to let some things go this year. But that's just me and I'm always looking for ways to let things go lol. Linda I can't wait to see the pages you make from this trip! I don't envy you all the sorting, but it's so fun and inspiring to get a bundle of new photos! I do miss ordering prints vs printing at home. grammadee I love those cards. The gnomes are so cute and those skates are just awesome. I have no baking done, or thought about, I'm going to go to a crop Saturday so I can just work on cards and if I happen to finish - hahaha! - I'm also bringing the blanket. Speaking of, Rudy's brother was born this morning at 4:30 after 2 days of induction. 8.75 lbs and 21.75 inches long! Dang that's a big one. Rudy was only 6.4 and 19.5 lol. I still have no idea when we are having dinner, and I also haven't bought anything for that either lol. I'm not so organized this year. But I'm also not going to stress, I pretty much wing all of this every year, no matter how much I try to have a plan lol.

Have fun at the crop, joyfulnana. Congrats to Rudy on his new baby brother! Hoping you are continuing to feel better, nylene. Again, take it easy. Get lots of rest before the California crew arrives. I hope you get rid of that cough soon, justjac. Mmmmm Peanut brittle... I think the Morinville crew will arrive tomorrow to put up the lights and the tree and do some holiday decorating. I will get them to move out a couple of heavy tubs to give me access to the other decorations so I can put them out later. Have the pieces cut for another ten cards, and plans for the last ten, but don't think much will be done on them until after the weekend. Heading into town soon to pick up the mail and some groceries. Need to make a list of baking supplies so I can get going on those cookies next week. If you need room in your freezer, Linda, ship one of those turkeys to me. I guess the news is saying that there will be a shortage of turkeys for Christmas, and the prices are going to be sky high. So of course I am sure all the overnight staff was running around yesterday hiking up the turkey prices LOL. Okay. Gotta move.

I guess the news is saying that there will be a shortage of turkeys for Christmas, and the prices are going to be sky high. our news was saying much the same so when Aldi dropped their Butterball price to 1.09/lb I grabbed one as that was the lowest I had seen. And then the next week Publix dropped the store brand to .49/lb - hence the other two. We like turkey but our only traditional turkey meal is Thanksgiving so the other two will just be cooked up over the year as I add them to the menu.

Dh is watching the weather channel. Has winter finally hit you in Ontario I'm sure a few towns got a few inches yesterday from "squalls" (narrow bands of snow that fly in off the great lakes and zoom across the province; you can be in a blizzard and 5 minutes later you'll have sun again!) but we have minimal white here. I hate the weather network for it's sensational "storm centre!" approach. Well, they are media after all. And it is important to know what's coming at you, it's just that they've cried wolf so many times that we often IGNORE real storms and don't prepare because we think they're BSing us again! Now, temperature wise? 2 weeks ago, 20 degrees + (70F), wearing sandals. Today...-15c (5F) with windchill. Brrrr! I'm off to work now. Have a great weekend everyone!

No snow here yet. We had a slight bit that doesn’t stick over night a couple of days ago.
Making sure I have everything for this crop today has reminded me that I like the IDEA of in person crops. Until it’s time to go. Now I don’t drag that stuff out 😂😂😂😂. If I get my cards done it will be worth it. Maybe 🤔 lol.

Ha ha, joyfulnana, that describes my love/hate relationship with crops, too. Hope you have a wonderful time and get some cards created. Dd & family will be arriving mid day to take on the holiday decorating. I need to make room for them at the dining room table, which has become a staging point for my Christmas cards: set up for card making with my niece, and have been grabbing stuff from there all week.

chilly and rainy here for DD's camping weekend - hopefully she's staying warm and dry. I think I'm going to skip hiking today unless it stops raining. I do need to run a couple of errands in town - pick up a few photos that DH wanted added to the album I'm working on, get more page protectors, and maybe find something baseball to add to a layout - we're not a baseball family so I have nothing but DH took in a game on his trip to Dallas and took photos so...
My trip photos arrived today along with Oct/early Nov family and DS/DD pictures. So need to sort those at some point also.
And re-arrange the fridge to defrost a turkey...

Oh that sounds no fun on that camping trip @homeschoomum. How is Midnight doing? The crop was alright, except the heat was out, and it was cold. I toughed it out for most of the day, got some cards finished and another stripe another the blanket. It's almost halfway done now. Got most everything ready or ordered for Thanksgiving and I'm glad to have that out of the way. I hope everyone had a good weekend! Sorry about the Chargers gramma - at least these are exciting down to the wire games. And it's very strange not to panic when the chiefs are down a TD with a minute on the clock lol. kellyr21 looks like your Rams are up next for us this coming weekend. Waving hi to everyone!

joyfulnana - brrr- sorry about the heat at the crop. Midnight sadly passed away overnight. He was about 20 (we weren't sure exactly - he was an outdoor kitty in our yard for about 5 years and then he came inside in 2017 and the vet estimated he was about 15ish then.). He was a very sweet, very loving, big black kitty. He watched TV on my lap Saturday night, just purring away. He'll be missed.

Awww, Linda. RIP Midnight. Sounds like he had a wonderful loved existance in and around your home. He knows you will be okay now, with Paddington and Dusty to look after you. Glad you had a last long relaxing snuggle over the weekend. Sorry the crop temp was uncomfortable, joyfulnana. Glad you got some cards and needlework done. nylene, I hope you are feeling well enough to enjoy family this week. Dh has appointments in town this morning so I have the house to myself. Think I will make a start on the background for ddil's frame. Decided last night I would paint a canvas as the background, then add some Silhouette elements. Once I like the canvas, I can cut it off its frame and attach it to the peg board I intend o back the frame with. The frame builder texted the other day and it is ready for pick up. He even burned her horse's name into it. Hope to pick that up this next weekend on the way either to or from my dgs's tournament Saturday. After playing with paint, I want to start some Christmas baking. Starting easy with butter tarts, I think. Might mix up the dough for some rolled cookies to cut and bake later in the week.

Hello, Pokeys. It sounds like everyone is in the middle of Thanksgiving and Christmas preparations. Linda, that camping trip (and trip for you) doesn't sound exciting to me, but any camping trip sounds miserable to me, you know. I hope you have a nice trip and that she has fun with the campers. I am so sorry about Midnight. He doesn't know how very fortunate he was to have found a home in your home. No one could be more loved! Best wishes to you and your family. joyfulnana, maybe it was a good idea to bring your knitting along to the crop...to keep you warm under what you have finished. I'm sorry the heat didn't cooperate. I'm glad to hear you finished a bunch of cards. grammadee, I can't wait to see the frame you are making for DDIL. What a fun project. Starting the Christmas baking sounds fun. I will make fruitcake that DH loves (mom's recipe) and may not get anything else done. I was feeling a bit better on Friday and started making lists of things to get done before Thanksgiving and Christmas. DH said, "No way!" Until you are better we will tackle one task a day together. We desperately needed to go shopping so headed to the grocery store, knowing we would stop at Costco on the way home. By the time we left the store I could hardly walk and breathe at the same time. We went right home and I took a nap. Two hours later we made a quick run to Costco and I wished I could hop on the cart for DH to push me to the car. I checked my phone and had walked a mile and a half that day. I didn't realize how very weak I was. I hope this begins to let up. I still have times at night I wake up trying to get more air in my lungs. The kids will be here this morning and are excited to grind the cranberries and fruit for relish. I should be able to just supervise and visit with Angie. They have all helped with this before and told Angie they could do it "for grandma". justjac, every time I get a coughing spell I wonder how your cough is doing? Are you feeling better each day. kitbop, how is the snow now in your area? Did it hit you or miss you? We hope for tons of snow this year so we can water our crops next summer. Too bad it can't just snow everywhere but the roads! I have been thinking about you and hoping you are doing well. kellyr21, I hope the construction is finished. Do you have Thanksgiving plans? gramma, do you do the Thanksgiving prep or are you invited out by family? Hope you have a great time. MARIBETHR, I hope the weather is good for your Thanksgiving. Are you through RV'ing or will you start up again after the holidays? Wishing each of you a wonderful week with family and friends! I will probably not get a chance to check back in for a few days.

nylene, please listen to DH and take it easy! My boss had a fairly mild case before the vaccines and said it took months for his breathing to be back to normal. Maybe the holidays could be a little pared down this year. Glad the kids said they would take care of things "for grandma" grammadee I should start my baking as well. The treats are becoming more important to the kids than the gifts They wouldn't be happy if they didn't get the jerky and their specific cookies lol. Your project for DDIL sounds intriguing, I hope you'll share a photo when it's finished. Linda I'm so sorry about Midnight. (((hugs)))) I know he was elderly, but that doesn't make it easier. Your family made his last years good ones. The boys and I are having a light dinner/lunch around noon with ham and turkey sliders, they are bringing sides. (so this should be interesting lol). Then they will go have dinner with their dad and his family. It should be a pretty easy day. I'm not sure if Rudy will be around, this is also the first Thanksgiving with his new brother so he may opt to stay with mom. He set a record for holding him without the baby crying yesterday and he was very proud of that lol.

Here is the start of my horse memorial backing. I painted the canvas with white acrylic paint tinted with CTMH re-inkers, and cut the horse with Silhouette. I intend to add the halter and other things she gave me along the left then hang 3 photos along the right. But first I need dh to trim a sheet of peg board to go behind this. The inside of the frame will be 24x30.

joyfulnana I missed that Rudy's new brother had arrived. How exciting. Your holiday sounds low key and wonderful. nylene I've heard recovery has its ups and downs especially if you push yourself. Take care. I am 90-95% over my cold. This cough won't quite leave me, though. Linda sending hugs for Midnight. grammadee good luck with your baking. Peanut brittle did not get made last weekend, but we bought supplies, so hopefully this coming weekend I will get it made. After two years of basically no exercise, I'm trying to get back to it. My friend and I (and Dean!) are walking for 30 minutes before work. I also hope to type up my Christmas letter this week and start sending out a few Christmas cards.
Wow grammadee. We posted at the same time. Your background looks amazing!

joyfulnana - glad that Rudy is enjoying his new brother. My oldest was 8.5 when my middle was born and he was so pleased that she would quiet down in his arms. grammadee - that's gorgeous - what a very special gift you are making justjac - exercise is back on my to-do list also - it's hard getting back into the habit. Thank you all for the sweet words about Midnight. Had my MRI for my knee finally - it was scheduled for Sept but cancelled due to a hurricane and reschedule for October but I had Covid. I've peeked at the results but will wait and see what the dr has to say at my next appt. DD16 is making cinnamon rolls from scratch today - with lots of supervision (her choice - she's not confident but wants to learn)

Linda - I missed your post about Midnight - I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye Cinnamon buns are a messy bake, but worth it if they turn out like you like them. We like ours quite moist - not a dry bun please! We follow the pioneer woman recipe, but I use less of the icing than she calls for (if you use it all they are TOO moist!) grammadee - your horse and background is spectacular! She'll love it, can't wait to see it when it's finished. nylene - yes, please, take it easy. I run 5 miles regularly, and after covid I was winded walking to the corner of our block! We don't really have snow. Some whitish patches, but I'm still outside in sneakers if I need to move quickly Boots give me blisters at the start of the season so I avoid them as long as I can. justjac - do you do microwave peanut brittle or stove top? I make microwave cashew brittle that is always a huge hit when I gift it...but expensive so I don't do it every year! joyfulnana - what is Rudy's brother's name? Well pokeys, my fun year doesn't seem to be over just yet. Thought things happened in 3s, not 6s and 7s? My favourite (only) Aunt has always been there for me as a second mom (because my mom, even though we were tightly bound because it was just her and me, was something of a narcissistic, perfectionist, know-it-all, negative nelly and my Aunt totally sympathized because she had to deal with her too and we would vent together and tell stories!!!). She's all I have left in family of that generation. And she had emergency brain surgery yesterday - they drained a cyst and they think there's a tumour. Prayers and positive wishes would be *so* appreciated for her. She is an amazing 82 year old and I expected to have her around until she is 102.

Oh, kitbop . That is so sad about your aunt. Your family has indeed taken far more of its share of hits this year. I hope that the surgery will take the pressure off her brain, and that the tumor is non agressive. That is alot to take on at that age. Sending positive vibes and (((((HUGS))))). I have my butter tarts baked and in the freezer and some spice cookie dough in the fridge ready to be shaped and baked tomorrow. Also picked up some almond paste today, so should be able to get that dough mixed tomorrow, and some cherry brandy for my choco cherry bells. So all that will be missing is the DOING! Also picked up some hooks and photo frames today for the shadowbox. Arranged to pick up the shadow box frame itself on Saturday and to have the glass cut next week. Dh had a busy day helping a neighbour, so I didn't even mention to him that I need that piece of peg board trimmed. He may want to wait anyway until he has the shadowbox to measure. Sounds like you have a relaxing Thanksgiving planned, joyfulnana . How did the cinnamon rolls turn out, Linda? I want to see photos! nylene , I hope you are having fun but taking lots of rest breaks. We have several events this week and weekend. Thursday is the monthly pancake supper at the Seniors'. Friday evening we are invited to a holiday dinner and craft sale. Saturday I want to drive to my dgs's tournament near Edmonton and then return the same evening picking up the shadowbox frame on the way home. Then Sunday is the community theatre's brunch performance and we have tickets to that.

kitbop - thank you. No frosting on this recipe but nice moist bun and loads of cinnamon goodness. They turned out delicious albeit not too symmetrical (but mine never do either) ((((Hugs)))) I'm so sorry for the news about your aunt. Prayers for her recovery to go smoothly and for the tumour to benign and easily taken care of. grammadee - sounds like a busy week for you - and your baking is coming along nicely. Cinnamon rolls - delicious but not maybe too pretty
