Thanks grammadeeAll I did today was unpack, put away the new scrapbooking goodies DH picked up while I was gone - 2 grab bags of PP from HL, FOUR packs of grey cardstock from Michaels (I had asked him to pick up ONE), and some random chipboard embellishments he found at a yard sale...he's so sweet! Oh and fold three loads of laundry. Tomorrow will commence deep-cleaning...DH and D16 seem to have managed to keep themselves and the cats fed and kinda sorta kept up with laundry and dishes but not much else. But given he's been working plus had eye surgery and she's had school, Girl Scouts, and Academic Team (they won tonight!)....I didn't have high expectations. TS Nicole may be visiting us Thursday-ish so that might be a good scrappy day if I get enough cleaned tomorrow. I have 4 good-sized photo orders sitting on my desk that need sorting and then scrapping and I also need to deal with the 1400+ photos from my trip (my camera, DD's camera, and DS's camera) and weed those done to a more manageable amount to actually print and scrap.

Hey Pokeys. One of my carpool people was coughing on Wednesday. She stayed home sick Thursday and Friday. Thursday I coughed once or twice. By Friday night I knew I was sick. I stayed home all weekend and Monday and Tuesday. It’s not COVID thank goodness. I’ve tested myself three days in a row. Unfortunately after taking great care of me, Dean is now sick. He stayed home from work today, too. I’m going to go to work tomorrow. I’m feeling not bad and I don’t want the hassle of getting a doctors note which I need in order to miss three or more days. nylene I’m so sorry to hear you are sick. kitbop sending hugs. grammadee I hadn’t seen the gratitude thread either. What a great idea. It looks like you are having fun with your DGS.

Sorry you are sick justjac - there is a NASTY cold/flu bug going around here with a month-long cough...sounds like it may be Canada wide. I hope you and Dean recover quicker than some I know! Linda- glad you had a good trip and lots of photos but yikes I would be unable to stay upright with that schedule and no sleep! Sounds like you are going grey-heavy for backgrounds this quarter grammadee - how are you holding up? Who is winning - the GS or the grandparents? DH is in Edmonton this week. He is complaining about the cold...when he left here it was 18 degrees, and he didn't take his winter coat with him. I warned him!!!

nylene I do hope you are beginning to feel better. How are you and Dean doing, justjac? Hope this bug has left your home. And joyfulnana how is your energy holding up now that you are working again? Linda, you sound busy as ever once you arrived back in your nest. That is a LOT of photos. I hope they represent wonderful adventures. Ha ha kitbop. Your dh must be freezing in Edmonton without winter gear this week! Can't say he wasn't warned! To answer your question, probably ds and gp are all winning, just pretty tired! His meds are working to keep him on a more even keel, but when his brain latches on to something, it is hard for him to let go. Right now he is obsessing about Evander Kane--whom he met during/after a game in Edmonton--worried about things like how his equipment will get back to Edmonton after his injury and who was looking after his stuff until he can get back home. He thinks probably Connor McDavid picked up Kane's equipment in the dressing room and made sure it got onto the bus. Guess he thinks the Oilers' dressing room is much like his team's, where friends have to look after each other. Okay. Gotta get moving. Not sure what today's plan is yet, so gotta go put one in place.

feel better soon justjac nylene - I'm worried about you - hope you're on the mend kitbop - brrrrr - hopefully he'll pack his coat next time (or is he like my DH who has ended up buying a new coat on several different trips?) grammadee - loads of fun adventures. Brief overview of the trip - we hiked at three different local parks, went to the Norwich Botanical Gardens (and then had to hae DS's truck towed back to Williamsburg - that was an EXPENSIVE taxi ride for us - it got a new starter the next day), rode the car ferry across the James river both ways, Went to Yorktown - walked along the riverwalk, saw dolphins in the York River, Am. Revolution Museum, trolley ride, walked around Colonial Williamsburg a couple of times, celebrated DS's birthday a day late at a lovely Greek restaurant, carved pumpkins and decorated cookies for Halloween - and I finally got to hand out candy to TorT-ers! Went to an art show and a couple of art galleries and more... Windy and rainy here today thanks to TS Nicole - so I'm moving a bit slowly but working on finishing up cleaning the house

nylene, I hope you are feeling better! I've been thinking of you! grammadee, I hope you can get some rest! I love that story about DGS, what a cutie. Linda your trip sounds wonderful! Well, except for the very expensive taxi ride. And you got a lot of activities in. And new goodies at home waiting. That sounds like a very good week justjac, sorry you guys are the sickies now. Whatever that bug is, it sure spreads fast! I hope you and Dean feel better soon. I'm feeling much better now. Earlier in the week, I had pretty much hit a wall around 6 or 7 pm and have been getting lots of sleep. Today I feel really good. I bought new yarn and started a blanket for Rudy, so I have not done any scrapping. I am going to a day crop in a couple of weeks to get my cards done, so there will be some paper play happening soon. I hope they finish that construction soon kellyr21! I would imagine it's miserable.

Sweet Halloween LO, gramma! I will head to Flickr in a bit to look at it more closely. I have some Halloween pic's to scrap and hope to get back to pages soon. Dsil came last night. He & dgs are off to the Remembrance Day ceremony in town. Will be back here for afternoon and supper, then home. Tomorrow I have a card making date with my niece. Once I really open up that Christmas cupboard, I don't know when I will get back to Halloween!

joyfulnana - I'm glad that you're feeling better. I hope nylene is on the mend as well. gramma - such a sweet layout for those pretty pics grammadee - have fun with the card making. If you could spare a prayer for our eldest kitty, Midnight - we're taking him to the vet this afternon as he's having digestive issues at both ends. He's 20 so... Today was supposed to be a scrap all day kind of day but between the cleanup from the kitty and the vet visit...not sure how much scrappy time I'm actually going to get

Thanks grammadee - vet gave him a shot, some meds and probiotics to sprinkle on his food for the next 5 days. Then we took him home and gave him a full-immersion bath - so much fun... Hopefully I'll get to scrap this evening and/or over the weekend

((((hugs))) to all the pokeys. We sure are a struggling bunch lately. nylene I hope you are feeling better and up to checking in soon! I'm worried. Hahahahaha grammadee thank you! That shirt is perfect lololol. I feel like I live at work. People at my job don't understand how the mindset shifts. If I'm at work, believe me, it feels like I'm at work. And being home is like being home - at the office lol. Have fun on that card making date! Linda all the good vibes up for Midnight. And for you, I hope you get some scrapping in. I've got some errands to run, and there is an LSS about 20 minutes from me that I would like to get checked out. No plans for the evening if anyone is up for a crop. I'll be knitting, instead of scrapping, and hopefully making headway on this blanket. If anyone wants to join in let me know, I'm thinking 6- ish CST. 7EST and what is that 4PM west coast? I'll open us up. I'm also open to a later time if that works best

gramma - thank you for checking in with nylene - so glad she's on the mend. joyfulnana - enjoythe LSS - there isn't one within several of hours drive here anymore. I'm not even sure where the closest is? Midnight seems to be feeling a bit better today. Hopefully that continues. We're going to a play at the high school this afternoon "Puffs" with DD16 - she has several friends in it. Hoping to scrap this evening but unless I find my tablet charging cable, won't be able to join the crop.

Thanks for checking in on nylene and then updating us, gramma. Glad you have been scrapping and cropping. nylene I am sending healing thoughts. Please be gentle with yourself. I see you have been busy scrapping, Linda. Don't know where you get the energy to do everything you do. I finally have some Christmas cards made (about 30), but still have alot more to put together (about 70). Used one of my new dies today to assemble some card fronts, and tomorrow I want to cut out and assemble some Christmas gnomies to decorate them with. Still working with my inked backgrounds from last week, as well. And my November page is done, so I just need to drop off the pages at the printer and pick up the blank calendars so I can start assembling them once I get the prints back. Haven't started Christmas baking yet, but hope to pick up some ingredients when I am in town on Tuesday. Waving hi to all the Pokeys!

Thanks grammadee - it's good to be back to scrapping again. Good job with the Christmas cards and the calendar! How many do you end up making? DD is back to school tomorrow after an extra long weekend - Thursday off for the hurricane and Friday for Veterans Day - she has practise after school so won't be home until 530 or so. I need to do some housework and weather depending, should probably get out in the yard as well. Thanksgiving is fast approaching so I'll need to finalise my menu for that - I have not one but two turkeys in my freezer and must do some re-arranging so I can buy a third on Wednesday - at .49/lb...they're the cheapest meat around and so versatile. We'll have one for Thanksgiving and then cook the others up during the coming year - I'll freeze leftovers to use in recipes and make broth from the bones.

nylene, I am sorry to hear you got Covid but happy to hear you are on the mend! Thanks for an update gramma! I have my eyes dilated currently. I am just waiting for it to wear off! My doctor said my eyes are doing good and I can be seen in 2 years if I want. I returned to work last Thursday from vacation. I had went in a couple of days before my vacation was over to assist with skin checks. The nurse that had volunteered couldn’t do it last minute. I had to do skin checks by myself on 53 patients. When I got to work, I had a cupcake & a card from my manager. Then the Director of Nursing sent me a thank you note too. It was nice they recognized me. I have a bike club meeting tonight. My husband may drive me if my eyes are still a little blurry.

knutschen - I'm sorry that you had to go in on your vacation - I hope you got paid for that time. Glad they recognised you though. Have fun at your club meeting. I've been sorting and labelling photos from my trip today. And picking up branches and moss that the Nicole dropped on our lawn - 5 trash bins worth and I'm not even done with the front yard. Trash pickup is tomorrow and I'll refill the bins once they're empty.

Linda, when you talked about Nicole I thought for a second you were talking about a person! Then I remembered, oh yeah, the storm! Ugh! Such alot of extra work! No damages to the property, though? Good to hear from you, knutschen. Going in to a shift when needed is above and beyond. Glad you got some sweet food and recognition. Is this just a regular eye exam that you had to have them dilated? Still thinking of you, nylene. joyfulnana, did you go to the LSS? I will be stopping in at ours tomorrow. Need to pick up and pay for the blank 2023 calendars I ordered, plus pick up a gift (prepaid) for one of my ddil's. Can't even think of anything else I might need or want, but you never know once I get my nose in the door... Also hoping to print some pic's and do a little Christmas shopping while in town. Later I will be meeting justjac for book club.

grammadee - no damages - just a lot of leaf litter and downed branches...we have a lot of trees. Have fun at the LSS tomorrow and at the bookclub I've finished labelling MY trip photos (still need to go through DD's and DS's) and am slowly sharing some on FB. At some point, I'm going to need to order prints. I still haven't dealt with the four photo orders that came in while I was away...

grammadee - that sounds like a nice day of shopping and socializing! Love and am impressed by your Christmas cards. You pokey's sure are "pokey" - you poke me and say, "you need to get cracking on some chores girl!" I'm procrastinating terribly this year - something about unexpected deaths and trips has affected me negatively - and I need to make a list and get cracking on my MIL's calendar, Christmas cards, photo downloading/uploading, and yard work - all the things grammadee and Linda are talking about! I remember one of Shimelles Christmas prompts is always along the lines of "let it go"...what tasks are not reasonable in any given year and can be put aside in exchange for sanity. I also need to remember that the world will not collapse if I don't bake enough, or if I don't get EVERY photo found on EVERY iphone! Question for the pokeys completely unrelated to scrapbooking but I need opinions. We are burying my Mom's ashes with her Mom and brother in the town in which she grew up. It has been a month. Is it considered most appropriate to have the ceremony soon, or could it wait until better weather in the spring??? It's going to be less than 10 of us graveside, not a "funeral". It won't make us remember her less...just less wet/cold.

((((Hugs))) kitbop - be kind to yourself. It's ok to let some things slide. As for the memorial - I would think Spring would be fine. ((((Hugs))))

(((((HUGS)))) kitbop! The timing of the ceremony is whatever works best for you. Even before Covid, it was not unusual to wait for months--or even years--before internment. My brother's ashes were buried in the spring after he passed in October. My dd's in-laws were burried together a few months after her passing and several years after his. I think it depends completely on how you feel about it, and what works best for your family. And letting things go is down to a science around here, so you definitely have MY permission to pick and choose what you want and need to achieve--even if that is nothing. I learned to say three things almost 30 years ago: "I need help." "I need a nap." "I need a hug." Feel free to use any or all of those as your mantra.

I keep thinking I have turned the corner and am heading toward wellness, but I don't feel a whole lot better. It is easier to breathe now, but talking starts the coughing fits again. Em is at about the same place. Our husbands got it from us and are up and doing great. (Alex too) We have all had the Covid shots. I can't imagine how bad this would have been without any protection. I really do appreciate your concerns. You are such sweet, dear friends. I will try to keep up and get something posted on this thread. kitbop, I am in agreement that you get to choose the weather and time for the interment. If Spring is nicer and people are available, it would be a lovely get together. Hugs! Linda, I have worried about you and your property during the hurricane. I'm sorry it left you with a lot of clean up, but glad that you have no severe damage to your home. I hope you had a wonderful time with your kids. knutschen, how kind of you to give up a vacation day to help out. I'm glad they let you know it was appreciated. Do you have Thanksgiving plans with family? We will have Angie and family here from CA. but Tori is hosting everyone at her home. I'm hoping I will be doing a lot better by then. Hugs to all you sweet Pokeys!

Thanks everyone so much for the advice and anecdotes - I feel much better knowing that society (or pokeys at least!) won't frown at me if I delay the interment! nylene - I'm so sorry your recovery is slow - we're all rooting for you and we're all very glad you are vaccinated because, yes, scary, but you and your DD seem not to be "covid friendly" and might be on ventilators without vaccines (shudder). At least when you do get to your Thanksgiving you won't have to worry about catching it!
