It’s looking like a runoff again this election Please, everyone who can, donate to Rev. Warnock's campaign, send postcards, whatever you can do to help him win the run-off. I donated a fair bit to him and other candidates throughout the country. Every election matters, not just the ones on our personal ballots. I'll be working to try to seat him in the Senate. Wrote tons of postcards for him a couple of years ago. Are there any other run-offs expected at this point? I'll help the Dems there too. Who do we contact to send postcards?

Interesting two minutes... 'We did this to ourselves': Right-wing host tells GOP election official Dems 'not stealing it' David Edwards November 09, 2022 Right-wing radio host John Fredericks and a GOP election official agreed on Wednesday that Republicans could only blame themselves for underperforming in the midterm elections. After the so-called "red wave" failed to materialize, a Virginia election official named Mark called into Fredericks' show to disagree with other callers who blamed voting machines for Republican losses. After the so-called "red wave" failed to materialize, a Virginia election official named Mark called into Fredericks' show to disagree with other callers who blamed voting machines for Republican losses. "I just want to let all the people who are calling in about the machines now; I'm one of those guys too," Mark said. "I was able to ask questions and I was able to identify the entire process and what I saw was a very clean process." I validated the count from the machines," he continued. "And I'm aware of what goes on. And I have to question now, you know, is it the machines? What I did see yesterday was a massive turnout of Democrats. All I hear is Republicans are game day, game day." Mark questioned the Republican strategy of waiting until election day to vote. www.rawstory.com/john-fredericks-midterm-results/Does it really matter when someone votes? It seems that they are focusing on the wrong things.

I guess I do consider democracy to be on the ballot when we have people running for office who blatantly say that if they win, he will guarantee another Democrat in his state will ever win again. Anyone who is not horrified by that and will vote for that is deplorable.

I saw that Don Jnr posted 'bloodbatb!' on Tuesday evening but hasn't posted since. One of the TV hosts asked 'do you think it was a distress call' lol.

So is the new “bad guy” early voting for the Right? Maybe I'm dense, but I just don't understand this. People are going to vote the way they vote regardless of when they do it, so why the objections? Or, is it that they just want to minimize how many people vote at all?

Update from CO. A small, red county (Otero) filed the remainder of their count this morning, so technically Bobert has a 386 vote lead.
There are ~7000 ballots remaining in Pueblo county which has been +9 for Frisch
There are an unknown number of ballots being transferred to Pitkin that were received by other counties. Pitkin is a +58 Frisch county (his home).
There are votes remaining in Garfield county too, but no details. Garfield is a +14 Frisch county
So it still looks good for Frisch. Even possibly to avoid a mandatory recount.
Pueblo expects to report several times today. All we can do is wait.

Gotta love a party where the main strategy for winning is denying people the simple ability to vote. Since you don't have anything else useful, like a platform that actually helps people.

“We the People” elect the individuals who we want to form/run the government. A body that makes laws, spend our tax dollars and overall make decisions that affects all of us either directly or indirectly.
When I think about these individuals the term “They should be individuals of high moral character” comes to mind. I’m not sure where “high moral character “ came from. For a while I thought I read somewhere this is something the Framers said. But who knows.
But we should at least demand those we elect should have a moral compass, the ability to know the difference between right and wrong and act accordingly by doing the right thing.
While no one should expect our elected officials to be perfect, they should be guided by a moral compass to do the right thing.
So I will never understand why the Republicans continue to elect questionable individuals that lack integrity and appear to have no moral compass at all.
Case in point. Why is Jim Jordan still in Congress? Several young men he coached have come forward and said they told Jordan they were being sexually abused by the doctor. He did nothing. Why does he continue to get elected?
Don’t get me wrong, the Democratic candidates aren’t perfect but they are no where near the number of Republican bottom-feeders the voters on the right seem drawn to and continue to vote for.
And the voters elected another Republican bottom-feeder.

So I will never understand why the Republicans continue to elect questionable individuals that lack integrity and appear to have no moral compass at all. It just doesn't matter to them. They've proven that their base is happy to elect people without those qualities, so they've stopped even faking decency.

I've been checking in every day to see whether BoBo has lost yet, but the bitch is still hanging on.
Can someone please explain "run off" to me? I think I understand what it is, but under what circumstances does it have to happen?

I think I understand what it is, but under what circumstances does it have to happen? It is how some states address when no one gets over 50% of the vote. So the top two have a run off election at a later time . With the Georgia election there were three candidates running. No one got over 50%, so now we wait..

Alaska, for the first time, has what the Aussies do... ranked choice voting. I mention this, because media outlets are sometimes referring to Alaska as a runoff, as well. But it's not like the one in GA; no one has to go physically vote again, they just have to reexamine the ballots. They will be doing this on November 23rd.

I really needed to read this thread from Julián Castro (former mayor of San Antonio and HUD Secretary under Obama) about why Beto's defeat should still give us hope in Texas. Worth clicking through to read his words.
I've long hoped that Sec. Castro would run for statewide office or a senate seat in Texas. Maybe 2024 is his year - when Ted Cruz is up for re-election. His twin brother, Joaquin, is already a sitting member of Congress.

Kemp and McConnell are teaming up to get out the vote for Walker to the tune of millions.. Senate GOP Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is taking unprecedented action to attempt to help GOP nominee Herschel Walker win the December runoff for U.S. Senate in Georgia. Politico's Alex Isenstadt reports McConnell is partnering with Georgia GOP Gov. Brian Kemp to help turnout out the vote for the former NFL running back. "Kemp is loaning his get-out-the-vote machine to the Senate GOP’s voter turnout efforts, giving the party entrée to a political team that is increasingly viewed as one of the GOP’s most formidable state operations," Politico reported. Walker is challenging Sen. Rev. Raphael Warnock, who is currently leading in the vote count. "Under an agreement that was finalized Thursday, Kemp will transfer his door-knocking, data analytics, phone-banking and micro-targeting program to the Senate Leadership Fund, the McConnell-aligned super PAC that is bolstering Walker," Politico reported. "The super PAC will provide the funding for the $2 million-plus effort, which will be run by Kemp’s senior advisers and staffed by more than 100 field workers."Politico said it's the first time McConnell has funded a "get out the vote" (GOTV) effort. *** "Over 752,000 Georgia voters who cast ballots in the presidential election didn’t show up again for the runoffs just two months later," the newspaper reported. "More than half of the no-shows were white, and many lived in rural areas, constituencies that lean ... Senate Leadership Fund President Steven Law told Politico, “Gov. Kemp wrote the playbook for how to win big in Georgia, and we are thrilled to partner with his top-notch team to elect Herschel Walker to the Senate." www.rawstory.com/mcconnell-pac-georgia/

Who in the world wants their child to grow up to be like Herschel Walker as he has behaved over the years and how he is now. The GOP is exploiting him! Football success is fine. The Heisman Trophy is wonderful. But his morals, character, business skills and lack of education, not so much!!
