honeypea my heart goes out to you. I completely understand where you are coming from regarding the stockings. And also thanks for explaining the photo idea to me. I get it now! 😂 So the calendar! I was hoping for a creative lesson but I appreciate the calendar and getting a plan for your stories! I would never be this organized about it so big thank you to Linda for that! It was also nice to see exactly how she writes in her calendar with the 50/50 planned/unplanned approach. If I did 17 tags, I would do them back to back. Tie them together at the top to create an “album” of sorts. Then I would put the while thing in an envelope or pocket on the side cover of the album.

janamke love the idea with the white foam board. I have never thought of that! Also, I’m not going to use a notebook for my album. I haven’t watched any of the videos from that lesson. I heard it mentioned that the notebooks could be used for taking photos of your Christmas cookies. I use foam boards for so many things. Ornaments, cookies, displaying baking goods, favorite holiday cards. Super handy.

honeypea I heard Ali say that and for some reason this is completely going over my head. Stocking items to fill it with. Like, take photos of the items you will be putting inside your loved ones stockings?? Why don’t I understand this? LOL! Like candy and stuff?? Omg I’m sorry! Sorry, this was my idea in the class chat and I wasn't sure how to articulate it quickly! I think others kind of addressed it, but my thought is that I will flat lay on white poster board all of the items I get for my daughters stocking. Then I will print each item separately and cut it out around the item. I was thinking I would back it with journaling about the item such as why I got it, why my daughter asked for it, etc. and then they will all slip into the stocking. Only problem is my album is 4 x 5.5 this year so not sure it's feasible, ha. Here's my other dilemma: I usually do a page for my 9 nieces and nephews. So this year I thought that making the tags for each would be cool and we would do it at Thanksgiving. But we go to my parents so we might have them and my grandma do the tags too, then my MIL. Then why not us 3 as well. So 16 tags. And, oh wait, Troy is married and I usually put them together but you can't really do that with the tags so now we're at 17. 17 tags in a 6X8 album. No. Did you see the square version? It was intended for instagram, but what if you print those out 2x2 or maybe slightly larger (you'll have to play around with what size is readable) and make a grid out of them? You could include more that way in less space. So the calendar! I was hoping for a creative lesson but I appreciate the calendar and getting a plan for your stories! I would never be this organized about it so big thank you to Linda for that! It was also nice to see exactly how she writes in her calendar with the 50/50 planned/unplanned approach. You're welcome! I tried to make it so that you could use it in your album also because I knew that was what some people would want.

I decided to buy it. Mainly just for the files. I did DD last year for the first time and did my own thing. But it is nice to have files to use and print out. I am going to watch later today and tomorrow. It was nice as I got .50 off with the 10% coupon. Hey, every penny counts!

@legal_lady oh I see what you are saying about the stockings! I can definitely picture that now! I wonder if I should do that for my album?? 😊 Yes, the calendar would be great added into the album. I’m about to print it with the Monday start (thank you for that) and start filling out the bottom with stories I already know I want to tell.
I can’t tag Linda for some reason! Trying again @legal_lady

Trying again @legal_lady You're welcome! And if you do include that in your album show me!! It's because I changed my name on here awhile ago and it makes you tag the original name, so stupid... annoying feature of the boards. If you hover over my username on my picture it will show you my original name.

I tried it and don’t like this year’s format. Which is fine, I can spend some dedicated time working on foundation pages after thanksgiving.

Still around! I'm working on swap stuff and watching Hallmark in between lol
Re: the tech lesson for the hour.. This year I made Spotify playlists for each season throughout the year. They include albums I listen to more in specific seasons, songs that include references to those seasons, songs that bring me back to core memories at times of that season, even just albums that came out during that time that I listened to nonstop and have associated with that season, etc. Then for my October Daily album I created an October Forever playlist of 31 songs and made a qr code linking to it. I'm starting to think up 25 songs for 25 days of Christmas (or something... working title lol) and do the same thing again with a mix of Christmas favorites added into my favorite winter listens.

blemon yes, you could just have everyone fill out the tag for fun, collect them all and then just use the ones you want in your album! Also, what size album are you using? I actually like this idea. I could collect them but not add the half circles and ribbon at the top. Just tuck them in the back in a pocket. Maybe just go with the nieces/nephews idea as that is cute to incorporate them in your albums. You’ll have plenty of other opportunities for stories for your immediate family. This is true. And I already have the 10 printed and ready to go. If I did 17 tags, I would do them back to back. Tie them together at the top to create an “album” of sorts. Then I would put the while thing in an envelope or pocket on the side cover of the album. I already printed on the back a thing that says Name, age, and something else I forget. But yeah, that's also a great idea. They are currently 3" wide and 11" tall as I hadn't finished cutting them down. I think I will do this and just stamp their names at the bottom. Did you see the square version? It was intended for instagram, but what if you print those out 2x2 or maybe slightly larger (you'll have to play around with what size is readable) and make a grid out of them? You could include more that way in less space. No! I didn't see the square version. I don't know what I was looking at. I printed them all out so they're 3" wide. I'm doing a 6X8 so the 4" wide ones seemed too big to have more than 3 in a pocket (or whatever I'm going to do with them. I'm also thinking if I adhere them back to back, they would fit in the sleeves that have 2 3X8s next to each other. I love those. Thanks to you all for the ideas. I'll figure it out. It's also just paper and ink and time. I could just toss this pile into the recycling bin and be done with it.

I really like your playlist idea jenna . I want to do something like that. Loving the digitals for the tech lesson! Definitely going to get some use out of those. Have any of you used QR codes in your projects? I never have but have always wanted to. I might give it a go for this album.

Just printed out the papers for Krystal’s lesson. Love the journaling prompts! As far as the idea of the jar thing, i feel like it’s something I don’t want to do. The design and product prompts I think are a great but I’m just not feeling the jar thing.
I’m ready to make something! Going to play around with the whole page stamping lesson now. It was fun chatting with my Ali friends today! 😊

I'm Ok with affiliate links if they are declared to be affiliate links, in fact, I've asked crafters for affiliate links so I can help them as thanks for fabulous inspiration. But coming in, ass-kissing, posting affiliate links...that is irritating. I wish AE would stop that (ask her to calm it down).

I agree, but I also get the sense she’s lost a lot of mojo lately. Oh definitely! I'm sure going so hard over the past 2 years turning a hobby into a job is stressful and tiring both mentally and creatively. The biggest ass-kisser added in products linked with an affiliate link, as she does on the FB page. I'm not super sure who you're talking about but judging by the names I remembered seeing when I did glance at the chat I've got a good guess lol

Well, the value was certainly there. $5 for all those digital downloads alone is worth it! But I have to agree, the lack of any true live segments made it feel just like I'm at my desk cruising my scrappy YouTube subscriptions. Not extra special and worth clearing the day for. Hopefully, she sees some of this feedback and can do a mix of live and prerecorded next year.

Live videos drive me crazy with all the chatting and welcoming everyone by name and commenting on individuals. I agree with you. Although think it could be fun to have a little more live content without that. Like for all Ali’s intros today she doesn’t do that… I haven’t watched everything yet but the ones I did see were either hits or misses with me- no real in between. I want ideas and crafty stuff. That’s why I’m here. Personally I don’t care about (too) long photography discussions or a jar to pluck ideas from. I mean the jar is a good idea if you need it, but I don’t and it was a waste of a session to watch her decorate a jar IMO. Especially since Krystal has such great ideas I would have enjoyed watching her make something/giving us a crafty download.

I haven’t watched very many of the videos yet, because like several of you mentioned, I much preferred last year’s setup. I don’t dislike the videos, and the freebies are nice, but it just doesn’t feel special, or get me in the festive, excited for the project mood like last year’s prep day did. I really loved having the multiple people hosting it, and the live aspects, and I also feel like the videos were longer (but I could be wrong). I’ll try to make myself go through, and watch it all since I paid for it, but it was definitely a pretty big let down for me overall.

My first DD prep day and Wow! I thought it was great. I went and bought last years too. Lots of great ideas and downloads. I especially loved the stamping videos. Wish they would do this with WITL stamps. I buy all of them and often struggle to use them.

For $5, I guess it was fine. But I have been around a while, so I felt like a lot of the content/lessons were rehashes from the panels that they do for free on Instagram. And Krystal’s idea was the same thing as she did for October Daily - she was using her jar of prompt idea for free on her YouTube channel. I did enjoy Ali’s crafty ideas - the stockings and the tags. But I’m not sure that I will purchase, even for $5, next year.
