I don't use butter but we go through so much that I think dh must eat it instead of cooking with it.🤪
I think I buy about two pounds or more a month and it's just the two of us.
ETA: He does bake a lot so that accounts for some.

There is always something going on that house that requires butter! We eat 5-6 meals cooked at home everyday plus a-lot of lunches and breakfasts! We go through at least 3 one pound boxes of butter every two weeks. So, roughly 75-76 pounds of general cooking and eating. With holiday cooking at least another 15 pounds!

We seem to go through a lot (especially considering that until the last 4-5 years I never bought butter). I use a tiny bit to cook eggs and then in recipes that call for it.

I have no idea how much a "box" of butter is. Man, I've only just got used to the US "sticks" of butter! ![](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/EyttDfIMbvdgNFSOdJDk.jpg) I buy a 500g tub of spreadable butter every three weeks or so. I also by blocks of salted and unsalted butter for baking, either 250g or 500g, whichever is on special at the time. If I wasn't trying to lose weight, I would eat butter on ALL.THE.THINGS. I love butter! A box = 1 pound of butter 4 sticks (as Gennifer noted) of 1/2 cup (or 1/4 pound) each per box. Although, one brand - Land of Lakes - also sells 1 pound boxes with 8 1/2 sticks in it. Since we eat so little butter these days, I buy one of those outside of holiday season and freeze all but the 1/2 stick we keep in the fridge for occasional spreading/seasoning/cooking. Otherwise, the taste of a full stick can sometimes go “off” before we eat the whole stick.

One less thing to measure and like you said, the rest is often frozen. I had to look at the box to see if it was salted. I use a butter/canola oil mix every day on toast. It comes that way and is softer than butter solo, so easier/quicker to spread. Clearly ease is a goal.

If you blend it up in your nutribullet, it makes your black coffee creamy. Haven't needed to use half & half in forever. I do 2 cups in the morning, each with my TBSP of butter (1/2 TBSp.. I eyeball it) and a scoop of collagen powder. My 3rd cup just gets the butter. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg) The idea is to ingest the fat early on, it keeps you full, keeps your body in fat-burning mode and doesn't spike your blood sugar.

I mainly just use it in recipes that call for it. I do keep some on hand here because DH and DD like to put butter on their bread, muffins, etc. But, I am fine without it.
