My job would be so much easier if the general public understood that Medicare and private insurance do not cover long term care.
What would you like “everyone” to know?

I would like everyone to know the purpose of an appointment. If your appointment is at 10, don’t show up at 9, or at 12:15. If your appointment is for a hair cut, don’t come expecting me to just squeeze in a full head of highlights. Also if you make one haircut appointment don’t bring in your five kids that need cuts too expecting me to squeeze them in.
Also the most important part….. SHOW UP! It’s been ridiculous the amount of no shows and last minute cancellations I’ve had this past year. I live in a very small town where prices are low, a haircut is $16. I average $300-350 a week in no shows.

I wish everyone knew that school is not simply a free babysitting service ... If your child is sick, keep them home! I am so tired of having coughing, sneezing, sniffly, miserable students in my classes! They touch surfaces and we are all at risk. I teach middle school ... these kids are old enough to stay home alone

I wish everyone knew how much easier life would be if we had universal healthcare for all. No one would ever go bankrupt because they were ill or injured.

I wish people knew how to call 911. I wish people knew where they were when calling. Even if technology works-we still need to verify the location because sometimes (frequently) technology fails. I wish people understood that answering my questions is important ,and is not delaying any response. Once I have the location and the type of help you need (PD fire or ambulance) they are on the way. Your answers to the questions are helping to provide the best possible outcome for the person having the emergency, and sometimes even you as a caller. Sometimes we are able to give instructions on what to do while waiting for the responders. Sometimes the questioning seems “stupid”, but trust me, my 15 years of experience in my job tells me there may be a need for the question. We are well trained to forsee things you may not have thought of. It is ok to answer “I don’t know” if you don’t know. It’s not ok for me not to ask, in case you did know. The typical call takes less than 3 minutes, start to finish, if the caller is cooperative and lets me run through the questions. It takes lots longer if iI have to fight with you

I wish people knew that not all plumbing issues were emergencies, and that while inconvenient, sometimes other people's issues are more important than theirs.

We have a full schedule for the end of the year. You have an appt time for a reason. Please for the love of god have your insurance card ready. I don't want to sit there for 10 min while you search your phone for a photo. Healthcare across the board is short staffed. Hospitals are booked out months for a MRI, the smaller clinics like ours are usually able to get people in quick, but the end of the year is insane. Deductibles have been met and everyone wants their MRI's. I'm sorry if you waited until dec 27th to get one. At this point I'm booked solid and no I can not just squeeze you in for a 45-60 min MRI. sorry. Yelling at me won't do you any good either. Calling in several times a day trying to bully staff into accommodating you wont help either. We try to get as many in as we can

I wish people knew that just because I work from home doesn’t mean that I am available for you to drop by during work hours, or ask me to do something that takes me away from my work. I have listed my work hours with administration and if I deviate, I have to let them know. I don’t like to make up the time at the end of the day because it eats into my family time and also it feels like I am always working.

How to google. I literally google everything. So many times a week I get questions that I answer (in my head) “I don’t know….let me google that for you”. Everything from what’s the weather like tomorrow to how can I do xyz on my Samsung phone (I have an iPhone, no clue how a Samsung works, google knows though 😆).
On the upside, everyone thinks I’m a genius when I get them the answer 🤣

I would like everyone to know that reverse morgages will take your house if you have to leave for 6 months, like for a nursing home, and you can outlive the terms and lose your house anyway.
I would like people to know that medicare b insurance plans are very bad. They put money back in your social security check and take it right back out to pay for the insurance. And if the company goes belly up ypu are no longer able to get Medicare b. Once you decline it thats it. It's gone.
These commercials prey on the elderly. I hate it.

Don’t be late and don’t be early. And for pity sake, don’t take people who arrive an hour before their set appointment *before* the people who arrive on time. My eye specialist’s office personnel are just awful about letting people come 1-2 hrs early. And there I sit and sit. Grrrrr. When I make a haircut appointment, I get a text immediately verifying the date and time while I’m still standing there checking out. I put the appointment in my phone. Two days before the appointment, I get a text verifying the date and time, and wouldn’t you know the time has changed. I’ve even showed her my phone showing the text verification. She just shrugged her shoulders and said says it’s wrong. Grrrr. No, you are not fooling me. Someone who pays a lot more than I do for coloring, perming etc. bumps me from my appointment. I’ve almost quit going to her because it happens so frequently.

I think this starts with the "trucker" industry! We were on I-40 out off ABQ to Phoenix - and the return trip -- a strip of highway that ALWAYS seems to be under construction somewhere and a HUGE trucking highway -- and truckers were "side by side" preventing the use of both lanes rather than "zipper merge"!

I wish people knew how to get along! Yes, you have your political and religious beliefs. I have mine. They are probably not the same, but I'm a nice person. I can respect your need to believe what you believe. Respect mine, and leave your options out of general conversation. Seeing people blame Trump or blame Biden for the most RANDOM shit that has nothing to do with the conversation or occasion at hand. WTF do you need to say that now?

I wish people knew that the escrow portion of their mortgage is not only out of the control of your mortgage company but is incredibly likely to increase yearly over the life of your loan. Plan accoordingly

OH, I've got a good one! I wish that people knew that when someone they love is in some sort of crisis or hard situation, that it is better to reach out and say, "I don't know what to say or how to help you" than it is to literally ignore that person for months and months.

That using your bright headlights in regular traffic is blinding people going to the other way! Or it's the new LED headlights, or both. And I wish someone would do something about it before someone dies.

I saw a similar YouTube video and was going to ask here how the Peas merge, because I heard mention of rolling truck blocks here before. 😂 We never leave a lane empty in So Cal. That would be unheard of. In fact, trucks are often the ones merging at the last minute here.

That happened at my last appointment and it really made me feel super unimportant. I made the appointment specifically with her because she's done my dd's hair before and I knew she would do a great job for such a dramatically changing hairstyle. She did do a great job, but I felt juggled around and in the way as other stylists washed my hair, and were called to blowout the other woman's hair.

Don't demand a doctor's note for two+ days out. Who can get a doctor's appointment that quick for a cold? Also, stop tying federal funding to butts in seats (attendance). I'm so tired of the principal making a big deal about which classroom and which grade had the best monthly attendance.

I wish people would learn that just because you see them doesn’t mean they see you. This mainly goes for pedestrians. Don’t wear dark clothes when walking at night. And don’t walk through a parking lot like you own the place. Yes, you have the right of way, but cars don’t stop on a dime and you are often not seen right away.

Plus how to use a roundabout. It really isn’t that hard. I would also like people to know that custom decorated cookies will take a minimum of *three days* to make, and that is if the baker has all of the required elements to make them on hand, i.e. the right cutters, food coloring, flavorings, etc. There is a reason why most bakers require a minimum of two weeks notice for a custom order, and why they want their clients to prepay. So no, I can’t just “whip up a couple dozen” elaborate cookies by tomorrow for your event. Not gonna happen. In general, your lack of planning ≠ my emergency.

I wish people knew that bicyclists have to follow the same rules of the road as cars. Every morning on my way to school I drive through a very neighborhoody area with lots of bicyclists and lots of stop signs which they ignore. There are too many of them in pitch black clothes with no headlamps, no lights on their bikes, just the reflectors which are not effective if they are perpendicular to me barreling through stop signs.

I will add another health related one on behalf of my friend who is a GP: Rapid Antigen Tests have a very high rate of false negatives. Don't waltz into the doctor's surgery without a mask, saying that you have a sore throat, a cough, a headache, flu symptoms, my husband has COVID, oh but my RAT is negative, so I don't have COVID! Stay in your damn car and wait for the doctor to come out to you to do a PCR.

It’s all so negative. Or tell me the good things that people are doing for the country. I am not comfortable sharing my point of understanding because I would probably get bashed. I am all for a great conversation but with open minded people who can discuss both peoples thoughts.
