This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . If you are doing the Team Challenges, this challenge is worth one point for each page/project when you complete all 4. So that's 4 points for completing the Pokey Pea Challenge.

We didn't make it to midnight, but I did get a big chunk of my 1000 piece puzzle done. It may take me weeks, but I am determined to finish it.
Happy New Year to all you sweet Pokey Peas. I am so glad to be friends with so many wonderful women! Have a great year!

Happy New Year, Pokeys!
Didn't see the new year in last night either. I think I made it to about 10:30 PM. We had a countdown and Fresca toast at about 9:00.

My eyes were closing at 9:00 as we watched a movie last night! I headed towards my bed at 9:30, and instead found laundry, and tidying, and dishes, and by the time I crawled into bed it was 11:20. I'm sure you've all noticed that this is a difference between women and men: men say "I'm going to bed" and they simply walk up the stairs and put themselves into bed. Why do chores not jump into their faces on their way up those stairs, the way they do ours??? Once I got into bed, I got many texts wishing me Happy New Year, and suddenly it WAS 2023! So technically I did make it to midnight. Today I treated myself a double espresso hot chocolate after work to make sure I made it through our presents and festive dinner with some gusto. Starting to wind myself down now. Looking forward to some non-holiday time to get back into scrapbooking and the like.

I just finished the puzzle I got for Christmas. It was 1000 pieces and a lot harder than I was expecting. It was too large to fit any of my normal puzzle boards. It is 39 x27 inches. The only place I could put it was right in the center of our long kitchen table with all the leaves in. I was expecting lots of help with it, but seems when family came we did other things. I have watched the West Wing Marathon while working on it. That ended last night and I finished the puzzle this morning. I took a photo and will do a page. I hate to take it apart after all that work!!
I need to try to get myself in gear and participate in the teams this quarter. After not making a layout for 3 months, I think my mojo has gone the way of my sense of taste and smell. I am hoping that will come back soon too.
Have a great first week of 2023!

Good job finishing the puzzle, nylene. I got one for Christmas and have not even taken it out of the box. I used to do them on the dining room table, too. Then sometimes just slide the puzzle onto the cloth and cover it with clear plastic to have it as a table center for a few months. Hope you had a wonderful family Christmas/New Years celebration, kitbop. We played cards by the fireplace in the living room. This evening's plan is to watch the World Juniors hockey Canada game and eat supper between periods. But dsil has the fire going again. We haven't burned wood in it for years, but this fall we had the chimney cleaned so we could enjoy the "real" fire again. Dd is planning to stay for the week, but her hubby and son are leaving tomorrow and she will be sequestered in her room working from home, so I hope to get some scrapping done this week.

Good morning Pokeys. I slept in this morning and am slowly waking up in my silent house... Dd had to go "in" to work today--her unit's office is about 90 minutes from here and about the same from their own home. Dh has gone to town for coffee. I cleared off one of my scrap counters in hopes that I might actually craft today. Don't think I am quite ready to take on foiling, but I hope to do that soon using the scrumptious kit justjac gave me for Christmas. And I have some new glittery luna pastes for stencilling (bought those with the Christmas Cash dh gave me). But my goal for this part of January is to SCRAP CHRISTMAS so I can stow away all the holiday crafting supplies. LOL after ten days living with an ADHD kid, I think I have forgotten how to select just ONE thing to do or to plan ahead for more than two minutes. Okay.... Breathe in the silence... Relax... After posting this I will grab my second cup of coffee and select some photos. Thinking Santa pic's...

After posting this I will grab my second cup of coffee and select some photos. Thinking Santa pic's... LOL! I can identify with that. It feels good to just be quiet in the house for a few days. kitbop , how I wish your boys lived close. DH hurt his back over the holidays and snowblowing is not helping. I tried to talk him out of doing it, but he had made a promise to a neighbor to keep his walks clear after his cornea transplant. Since he lives several houses down, DH decided he'd just do the whole route. He did it both Monday and Tues. mornings, but today is clearing. He wishes we had some big boys living near and he'd let them use the snowblower and do it for him. Any way we can wiggle our noses and get your boys here before this weekend's next storm? I sat down with photos yesterday and SCRAPPED! I finished a double pager, the first page since September. I think my mojo is coming back. kellyr21 , did your city have their float in the Rose Parade this year? I watched bits of it, but didn't see it all. I thought of you as I was watching. Have a great week, Pokeys! ETA: We had just a routine recheck with the eye surgeon yesterday and DH said by the end of the day he feels like there is an eyelash in his eye. They did a check and found a "concretion" (we'd never heard of that) that was sticking up enough to poke his eye. When they removed it they found 4 more underneath. They were about the size of a sugar granule. He feels like a new man!

Linda, I love your puzzle. That's the kind that I love to put together too. Congrats on finishing it. Grocery shopping doesn't sound fun, but of course it is always a necessity! I will have to do that tomorrow before our next big storm comes in.

nylene - my boys both LOVE to be of help where they can use their age, size and muscles. All I need to do to get attention in my house is yell "I need a tall person!" or "I need muscle!" and they come RUNNING It's very cute how they want to help when it strokes their ego. But only 1 neighbour has a snow blower here, and she's stingy with her things. So glad they could make your DH more comfortable. Having a scratchy eye is no fun. grammadee - I admire your quick photo turn around! I have so many wonderful photos from the past month but I Haven't even printed any out from LAST Christmas yet. This is my biggest flaw. Linda - fun looking puzzle - I bet it was interesting to do with all the different patterns. It's nice to be off work after a stretch. Today I went to my LSS and got lots of the new Simple Stories pet line. I like it a lot, and have many many pet photos to scrap from the past few years. Before, I would ignore pet photos, preferring to scrap my kids. But as there are fewer kid stories, I see that the pets will get more time in the spotlight!!! I haven't got much pet themed supply stash (Basic Grey "Max and Whiskers" is almost gone ) so I thought it would be a "logical" purchase. We also stopped at costco and had lunch out. Vacuumed the house. Have to take DS#2 to work. Then I think I'll scrap?

Well, look at me go! The pokiest pokey pea managed a LO already this year 😉 Hope everyone is enjoying the new year so far. The weather here is unseasonably warm with no snow. I took my outdoor decorations down today and actually thought about fitting out in the deck but my craft room was falling my name.

Neisey, your grad page is gorgeous! Love the dramatic contrasts and how you placed the photos you had of her activities. Congrats to her on earning her X ring! My dd and I could each claim one for our distance ed acquired degrees--and she actually attended her graduation--but neither of us chose to purchase the ring. We have metal sensitivities.

Neisey, what a beautiful page honoring the X ring ceremony. What a fun tradition. I love the way you have draped the banner across the top. Your strip journaling is easy to read and looks so nice on the page. The photos are delightful. Thanks for posting it here. It's nice to see your smiling face pop up!

OK, surely I wasn't the only one who had to google "what is an x ring" ? And I'm Canadian! That's a cool ring and a great layout Neisey ! Came to share a disappointment: every year I make my MIL a 12 month calendar, each page a 9x9 layout essentially. I usually photograph and share those layouts. DH mailed it today...before I got a chance to take pictures. I can take pictures when we visit later this year, but my baby flew the coop and I have no memories of it!

We will love seeing your MIL's calendar pages when you get to photograph and share later, kitbop. That often happens to me with cards: I make them, sign them, seal them in an envelope, and then later think oh yeah, I meant to photograph that... How are ya doin', Pokeys? I have had a couple of days with the time and mojo to put some pages together, so two LO's (four pages) so far this year. I have the supplies laid out for another page. It is supposed to be the title page for my Winter album, but as I started to sort my unfiled pages I realized that while I have an album, I have no page protectors for it. So I ended up placing an order for 100 of them. I really have a lot of cleaning to do, in my scrap room and in the rest of the house. And by tomorrow I need to have my points added up from LAST quarter. But right now I just want to ignore that and play.

((((Hugs))) kitbop - that would be disappointing to me as well. My nest emptied this morning as DD22 and DS31 left to head back home. We really enjoyed their visit - games, baking, hiking, an art musuem, hanging out...Yesterday they cooked dinner for us and we baked and decorated sugar cookies and played DD22's new game DS gave her for Christmas - Salem 1692 - it was fun, not too complicated, or too long. And since DH and the kids have 6 or 7 Salem witches among their distant cousins, a fun bit of history as well. Today I need to reclaim the house and hopefully do some scrapbooking. Also need a trip to the bank an I have a vaccine appt at 6pm

(((((HUGS))))) Linda. Thinking you are feeling a little sad seeing them go, and probably exhausted from all the activity while they were there. Are you doing anything special for 12th night? January 6th is Ukrainian Christmas Eve. Dh wants a meatless supper starting with borscht. I will also cook some tiny buns I purchased at a craft fair, perogies, and fish. Fortunately I have everything frozen so no need to do anything other than warm things up. I made my winter title page this morning. Welcome to Winter 22-23 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Yesterday evening I found some orphan page protectors at the back of some albums, so I hope to get the winter one organized. Next scrapping will be back to Christmas, I think, so I can get those supplies stowed away.

I love that album cover, grammadee. You have love in the gallery. Your borscht sounds wonderful for Ukrainian Christmas eve. I think I could live on homemade soups every day all winter! Have you enjoyed using the Lunar paste? I have watched videos but have not invested. kitbop, I made cute interactive Christmas cards for the CA grands and for Swayzee. They were in the mail before I took a photo! It happens all the time. Be sure to take photos when you go to visit your MIL. We would love to see. Linda, I'm sure it seems quiet without your older two. I'm glad you had a great visit. I always hate to see the family leave, but also am happy to have my house back and be back to MY routine. I hope they travel safely. Today I am working on cards and am determined to take photos before they are mailed. I spent yesterday getting all my family birthday lists up to date. A couple of years ago I made a birthday calendar that hangs above my computer. At a glance I can see whose b-day or anniversary is coming up. I hadn't added a couple of anniversaries and a new grandson-in-law and their little Hailey. I think I have it all correct now. I plan to start making cards earlier in the year, at least for the grands, so I am not doing them last minute.

Linda- that sounds like a well rounded family-focused visit! It must be so hard for it to end. I'm envious of your new robo-pet-maids! Our house is not accessible for those but when we move you BETCHA I'll be getting one! I've never heard of a robo-mop! grammadee - what a gorgeous and chilly page! I love the embossed snowflakes. Your supper plans sound *so* yummy! Not sure what our plans are yet... it's 5:35, we do have some leftovers from the roast a few days ago, but chinese take-out is also sounding good Like nylene, we are homemade soup fans here. The most common is the chicken noodle I make with the remnants of the costco roast chicken we buy weekly. Very cost effective! But now I want pierogies tomorrow...do you have a recommendation for a frozen brand you like? (No, I'm not making my own Do you???) nylene - clever you to have a calendar just for those annual reminders! Those dates are always sneaking up on me. One of my goals this month is to finish at least 12 cards to start re-building my stock. DD has recently realized that the stash exists and asks to use them with such big-eyed sweetness that I can't say "no" (even though she is totally taking advantage of me...)

LOVE your calendar nylene - so smart especially with a big and growing family. Looking forward to seeing your cards kitbop -I was SUPER surprised to unwrap them at Christmas but I think DH realised when I was on crutches and when I was on vacation - just how much work it is to keep up with sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming with cats. Didn't get as much done as I had hoped to day but crossed a few things off my list. Tomorrow I have a phone call scheduled with a friend and I'm going to try and do something scrappy while we chat.

Linda, my DD has a vacuum and mop robot that is named Rocket. She has had it for many months and just loves it. Her girls have left home and they were the ones who enjoyed mopping. She has a white tile kitchen floor, so it needs to be done often. I'm not sure it would work in my house. DH constantly drops little items and can't see to find them. I spend a lot of time sweeping up little things that he needs. LOL. I'm sure you will love your new tools! Congrats! Years ago we got a dishwasher after I spent 3 1/2 months in bed with a pregnancy. I think DH realized that we were going through a lot of dishes and he was the one washing them. kitbop, that's a great idea to use left over Costco chicken for soup. I often watch for deals on chicken thighs and buy and freeze them for soup. When I tell DH I am going to make soup he always wants me to make a huge pot. I'm glad he is happy with soup and a green salad.

Linda I am super jealous of your robots! How are they working after the mapping? kitbop, I married into this Ukrainian family and have never made perogies myself. I used to help my MIL make them, and dh's sister used to make some from scratch, too, but now we buy them from a little local shop called Baba Jenny's. I did have a hand in making the borscht last summer when we made a huge potful to have enough to freeze for later occasions. nylene, your calendar idea sounds wonderful. I should have maybe picked up the pocket calendar the local farm supply store was selling. Could have put finished cards for each month into the pockets. I do keep a list b/c I hand write the dates onto each family calendar I give out, but my list is stuffed into an iris case with the completed calendar pages. Which reminds me I have a few January and february cards to put together fairly soon...

Years ago we got a dishwasher after I spent 3 1/2 months in bed with a pregnancy. I think DH realized that we were going through a lot of dishes and he was the one washing them. coincidentally - DH finally got my dishwasher repaired after nearly a year shortly before Christmas...after he had spent much of the fall on dishes duty. I am super jealous of your robots! How are they working after the mapping? mapping took a recharging break and I haven't had a chance to get them going on mapping again - tomorrow... I married into this Ukrainian family and have never made perogies myself Ds and I made sauerkraut pierogies probably 10 years ago - they weren't nearly as hard as I thought they would be and they were so good. I need to make them again. We didn't do anything special for Epiphany this year...I needed a break, lol I have one more envelope of photo prints to sort into page protectors and then that task will be done until my next order (placed tonight) comes in.

kitbop, you were not alone in having to google X ring ceremony. I also had to google pierogies, ( Linda and grammadee) because I have never eaten one! I learn something new every day on 2Peas. grammadee, does your family still have relatives in Ukraine? It must be fun to marry into new traditions. Since DH and I only lived 3 houses apart and then 4 blocks apart growing up, our traditions and memories are pretty much the same. We had a sweet girl from Ukraine in our ward while serving at BYU. I have thought about her so often when I hear the news. I don't know whether she returned or stayed in the states after she graduated. I finished a simple page and a few cards. It feels good to sit and scrap, but I see so much I should be doing. I can't make myself take down the Christmas decorations. I wish they could stay all year! Camera Shutter and TeslaGone Fishing

Happy New Year Peas! I think life is finally settling down some. We got a new owner with our apartment last Spring/Summer and that is why over the last several months we have had all kinds or changes going on. I am praying they are done with all the major disruptive stuff. Hopefully this week, I can clean up and get back to my routines. Oh how I miss PAPER!!! I have played with paper and scrapbooking in months. I have done some art and a few other crafts during the last few months. Back in early December, I took an abstract art class at our church. It was so fun! They will be hosting more classes and I hope to enjoy them. I have missed all fun here and was able to read some of you post from this month. Will check out the gallery to see your projects. nylene- Yes, our city did a float for the Rose Parade. I missed it on the parade day on tv but I did see the pictures on their Facebook page. Also, I missed seeing it in person at the hotel due to rain. Darn it! I love see the float here in town every year. I totally know how you feel about that 1,000 piece puzzle. I usually do 500 piece. I stepped out of my comfort zone last year and did 1,000 and boy was it hard. I didn't give up and finished it but since then, I retreated back to my 500 pieces. LOL! linda-I have seen those vacuum robots on QVC tv and they look pretty cool. Glad it is saving you some work.
