Kids are going skiing this morning, but they are leaving me with a couple of needy dogs. Hoping to take on at least one class today. Tempted to go back to one of the ones I missed from yesterday, but I find Cathy Z relaxing to listen to, so maybe I will start there.
Have a great crafty day, everyone!

Coming to the end now . . . Due to a recent medical diagnosis and how many classes there were this time, I'm working at a much slower pace than I have in the past, and I've skipped over several videos for now. I've completed 5 cards so far, but have quite a few more that are almost done. I've really enjoyed the classes that I've watched and I've learned that for me, completing 2 out of the three cards is a really good way for me do this.
I love the cupcake cards and Stephanie, but I also knew what I was getting into with her! I took several of her classes at Scrapbook Expos pre-Covid, so her speed and humor was no surprise. I enjoy her enthusiasm for card-making and things in general.
Loved Gina's cards but for some reason had a hard time getting through them. They are in the "to be finished" pile. I've tried at least 4 times to blend that oval and it just won't look right!
Following Cathy this morning was fun and I do like the cards, but living in the mountains, I'm not sure how much I'll use them. Someone suggested in the chat that they produce other images for this stamp set, and I'm all for some mountain stamps. But again, doing 2 out of the 3 worked out best for me.
Worked on a few others, and checked in on some other videos. The only one I really didn't like, and can't think of a way that I will use, is Simon's class. I wasn't sure about Honey Bee's owls, but after watching part of that class, I'll be doing them in the future.
I'm looking forward to Pink and Main and absolutely can't wait for Jennifer's video tonight. All-in-all, I'm very pleased with the weekend and will be right back next fall!

Loved Cathy Z's class this morning, so clean and simple. The owls - OMG - I love those! Kelley Kuhout - I'm a new fan! Will be looking at the Honey Bee site for other bird layered dies. The owls were so easy to make, and I especially liked blending Oxides on the white one.
I'm doing two out of the three also - not rushing this time. I'm much more organized and keeping on top of the chaos of my desk. This is making me want to go back and redo some of the ones we did last fall.
I'm not sure about Simon's cards either, but he's young, give him some time. I would like to experiment with that desert stencil a little. The cactus with the sentiment "hugs" made me giggle.
I absolutely need to get the stamp for the back of my cards - "You are totally worth the FIVE HOURS it took me to make this card."

MDscrapoholic - Please don't get me wrong. I think Simon is amazing! I've enjoyed several other classes with him in the past. It was just that the whole desert vibe did nothing for me, at all, not even a smidge! I'll be happy to catch him again with a different theme. I've watched almost all of Pink & Main now and that 3d card was even cuter than I thought it would be, and really easy to make. I'll be making more of them.
Edited to add - LOVE your owl!!!

I'll be happy to catch him again with a different theme. I totally agree. I loved his class at the last C&C and was one of the people who said he needed a full class not a mini class. But this time I was so disappointed in the theme of the products. I didn't even bother to watch his class because I'm never going to make the cards. They just aren't me at all.

I played around with the Spellbinders kit today and actually finished one card front. Am working on ways to use the pieces from that cut-and-punch plate.
Looking forward to taking on the Pink & Main cards when I have more time.

I’ve had the HoneyBee winter birds layer dies since before I registered for the event, so I was really excited about the owls. Here’s my Cardinal:

Just trying to do a little more tidying and organizing and figuring out next steps (both in finishing up this stuff and also sort of putting my crafting life back together the way it was before). I had forgotten, but I received two of the Spellbinders Stylish Oval Hello You Foral die set. They told me they'd let me know if they were short and needed it back and that if they didn't, I should feel free to gift it to someone. Should I create a new thread for this RAK?

Anyone else exhausted?
I still have a couple of classes to finish but they'll have to wait until I can get some real life stuff done. haha
I finished CZ's cards before she did. I like her cards but she's just too slow for me. (All the chit-chat makes me crazy) I really like the C&9 Kit.
I think the HB owl cards came out great. Loved all three. And those background papers? This outdoorsy girl was in LOVE.
I changed up the colors on the P&M cards. Her colors were just too bright for my tastes. I really like the stand up envelope.
The LDRS are not in my usual box. I struggled with them, but got two okay cards I can send. The two with specific birthday numbers (I didn't use 16 or 21). I'm going to retry the numbers background again.

I enjoyed the weekend a lot. Moreso than last fall. I went into it knowing that I was going to totally do it at my own pace, and that made it a great weekend for me. Beforehand, I also weeded out the projects (and gave away or sold) that I knew I’d never do, and also put the “maybe” ones aside as well. Therefore I felt absolutely zero pressure to do anything but what I wanted, when I wanted.
I could listen to Gina or Kelley teach classes every day. They both have such calming, positive, and genuine personalities. A couple of the classes (tech wise) were a hot mess, and I ended up turning both of them off. That was a disappointment. Other than that, I really have no complaints. I cracked up every time when teachers would start their classes totally chill and be like “oh, we have sooo much time let’s all just take our time.” And then 30 minutes before class ends they’re all like “oops, we’ve got to hustle, we’re going to run out of time…”
I don’t participate or pay attention in the chats, etc (and apparently am missing out on a good time) as my head is down working. It feels a bit isolating, since I don't know any local paper-crafters, and (open)paper-crafting groups in my area seem to be fairly non-existent. I’d love to have another friend or two over to do these events together). I miss the in person-ness of events like these. However, I know doing these events virtually works so much better for so many of us.
I wish the C+9th Summer Camp products were all products I’d be happy to have. If so, I’d totally give one of their events a go.
BTW: if anyone wants the spring C+C (or last fall’s) Crafter’s Companion kit, or the spring 23 or fall 22 Brutus Monroe kit, please give a holler and we can figure out $$$ and such.
I’ll try and remember to post pics of what I’ve completed later today or tomorrow.

Where are you supposed to sign the card and maybe write a personal message with those envelope cards? On the back? I think so. There's actually no where else to write anything! I like how they put the stand-up card on another card front (without the inside panels so it's flat). I think I'm going to try one of those. Was anyone else disappointed with Jennifer McG's video? I was kinda bored with it.

Yes. Partly I think because that's already how I roll (did anyone notice that I used a piece out of my SB.C strawberry paper pad for the background of my non-pop-up P&M card instead of ink-blending?) and partly because a few of the ideas were kind of lame or at least executed poorly. For instance, using the Gina K floral arcs on a gatefold card is brilliant, but why not just a normal A4 gatefold? It seemed contrived with the pop up pieces to me.

Beautiful cards everyone!
I haven't done anything and I just watched part of 1 class, the Stephanie B. one, I was curious about her.
I injured my back and went to a chiropractor and he give me 3 more injuries and a major vertigo, what is still lingering. So I can't even think of sitting or standing at a desk and making cards for right now. I'm super disappointed, but knowing that the classes are out there I will just watch and create the cards at a later time and much slower pace.
I really wish for a time machine 😆

I managed to make one of Meghann Andrew's cards, the Simon ones, and then a few on Saturday and a few on Sunday. I made 20 cards in total. I really like the projects this year for the most part.
I didn't think I'd like The Stamps of Life cards so I only made the first one - but I love it! I wouldn't necessarily use the cat cut out of paper again, but my son has someone to give it to and says she'll love it, so that makes me happy. The cupcake shaker itself is awesome, though. The second card looked rather childish to me so I skipped that one - did anyone make it and does it look good in person?
My goal is to eventually make every single card within the next month or so.
It's hard for me to pick a favourite but I think it's the Honey Bee ones. My husband's favourite is the first Altenew card - surprising since he doesn't generally like florals. I really like the Lawn Fawn ones - they're different from what I usually make - and the Gina K ones, too.
I'm very pleased with this event and I'm happy I still have more projects to do. I didn't watch Jennifer's video but I'll do that this week.

I had a great time and will definitely do it again. Shopping before hand was a mistake because I was such a newbie I bought lots I didn’t use but glad I got the whole set of inks from Simon. Will definitely be taking this again in the fall. Everyone’s cards look great.

I still have the last 2 classes to do but I loved the event. Yes there were some tech problems with 2 videos but I still watched them and learned stuff. I definitely was not sure about stamps of life but the cupcake cards are fun ! The other die was completely not my style so I will try to sell it or give it away later.
I loved simons techniques but was not a huge fan of those products. But I definitely loved learning from him.
I agree with what the others have said Gina and Kelly are great teachers. Jenn Shurkus always does a great job. My favorite cards are probably spellbinders. They always knock it out of the park with their products.

I also thought the second card looked kind of childish, but I was looking for two more kid-friendly birthday cards with lots of room to right inside for Cards for Cubs. I found their double side adhesive sheets very difficult to work with -- I had trouble getting the second release paper to come off. For that one I tried using a SB.C sheet but cut it upside down. At that point I just got frustrated and gave up. I don't know if I'll circle back or not. I admire your goal to make every single card!

Good point, though, about it being kid-friendly. I do have some kids who need birthday cards so that's perfect, then. I usually don't bother making every single card but this time around I figure that I always learn something, and even if it's not my own style the card may be the style of the recipient, so might as well!

OK, here's my epic long review. Not that anyone cares but since it's a lot of money, I want to give enough detail for a newbie to make an informed decision. ---------------------- Wow, what a weekend! I was so exhausted on Sunday night, I definitely needed Monday off to recover! I was skeptical about the weekend because it was expanded to 4 days. When I saw the schedule, I made the conscious decision not to attend the early morning classes. 6:30am was just too early for me to start crafting. I have not finished all the classes either. I’m hoping to work on those next weekend. Here are my thoughts… Thursday – I did not do anything on Thursday since I had to work. I will probably go back and watch the Crafters Companion class and try the products. I didn’t hate their products like I did for the last event. I watched Meghann’s class but haven’t made the cards. I LOVE the quatrefoil stencil and stamp. I cannot wait to use these products and try out different color combos. Hero Arts – I skipped this class for 2 reasons, I don’t like the products and it was too early. I heard a lot about the fence card so I may go back and watch if I’m bored. Spellbinders – Great class. I completed the first two cards but skipped the coloring card because that’s not my thing. I really like the background die and am looking forward to seeing different ways people use it. I think it was already released to the public. Scrapbook.com – what can I say, loved this class, it was all pink. 😊 I also have a couple other ideas for additional cards. Taylored Expressions – For the most part, I’m not a fan of TE stamps (they are just not my style) but really love their stencils. I did not like my ink choices but I’m looking forward to trying other color combinations. I really liked how Jennifer McGuire used blue and yellow together for the flowers. That’s not a combo I would ever use but it looked really good together. Ranger/Simon Hurley – I skipped this class because the cards did not appeal to me at all. I didn’t even open the product bag. I was one who thought Simon should get a full class and still believe that, but the desert theme was yuck. I will say my interest was piqued when Jennifer McGuire used his product and there are sentiment stamps with coordinating dies. I need to open that bag! I'm a huge fan of sentiments with dies. Gina K – I’m halfway thru with the class. I really like the concept of using the layering stencil with the die cuts. The layering of the pattern stencil was cool too. I really want to make this card with various shades of grey leaves and yellow flowers. I just love that color combo. Stamps of Life – I skipped this class. The products were just too juvenile for me. Lawn Fawn – I’m not a colorer or a critter lover but for the first time ever at C&C I completed the Lawn Fawn cards! I really enjoyed this class. I was bummed that the stencils were so small because moving the little squares around was a pain in the butt. I have a unicorn set from Hello Bluebird and the sentiments were perfect for these cards, so I used those instead. I like the look of glitter but jeez it is such a mess. I basically dipped my die cuts in the glitter jar over a coffee filter and threw the coffee filter away with whatever loose glitter was in it then stuffed my glitter jar in a ziplock bag. I can’t wait to send these cards to my BFFs 5yr old daughter! Altenew – I’m a Altenew fan so this class was a win for me. I have a couple of their Craft Your Life project kits and this was just a mini version of that. I do wish they would have provided a die for the flower stamp. If they come out with that, I’ll definitely buy it. Her technical difficulties with the camera didn’t bother me like it bothered some people but I already was familiar with how her stencils worked so maybe that’s why. On a side note, they are tempting me with that darn StampWheel. Brutus Monroe – I have not watched this class, but for the first time ever, I actually like some of the products we got. I like the flower stamp and stencil sets. I have a vision for color combos that I want to try so I’m definitely going to watch this class. I don’t care for the easel die but I think it’s just that boring vine that’s tainting my view. I really need to play with it to see if its gonna get tossed. C&9 – I did not watch this class live THANK GOODNESS! Cathy was bugging the crap out of me with her singing and wanna be fake Gina K calming imitation voice. I also cannot stand her trying show off her mani with every movement of her fingers. I really like her clean and simple cards, but she just bugs me to no end. OK on to class…I liked the products and completed 2 of the cards. I totally messed up the third but made my own version of a "postcard". I really like the postage theme and think there are a lot of ways to use the products. I especially like that there are stencils for the small postage stamp square. That’s cool. I’m not a lighthouse fan but I have a friend who likes anything light house so that card is going in the mail to her this week. Honey Bee – OK my first thought when I saw the cards in the book was ICK. Of all the birds, why an owl? I wasn’t even going to try the class but at the last minute did the homework and decided to play along. While I’m not a fan of the owl, the cards aren’t as bad as I thought. Even better is that I do have some other bird layering dies and now I’m not intimidated to use them. Pink & Main – I’m not a huge P&M fan but was really looking forward to this class. I never would have purchased the envelope die set but man it was so cool once I started playing with it. I wasn’t a fan of her color choices, but I definitely think I’ll get a lot of use out this die set. Jennifer McGuire has a couple videos for pop-up dies and she uses acetate to make elements look like they are floating. I’m excited to try some of those ideas. LDRS – I watched this class while I finished up other projects but did not make the cards. The cards are just not my style, and they were so age specific that I just couldn’t figure out a way to make them more generic. It’s very Heidi Swapp-ish and that messy stamping is just not me. Jennifer McGuire's video – I was so looking forward to this video but was completely underwhelmed with it. I really liked her first card using Gina’s dies to make a gatefold card and the tip to create a mask so we can ink the overlapping flowers different colors. Other than that, the video was a bore. I need to see the class line up for the fall event but I’m pretty sure I’ll be signing up. It’s going to be another 4 day event in the fall. Catherine said they would get the website updated with the new dates. I’m really glad the classes were kept to Youtube only and not going to Facebook for the question portions. Actually, I wish they’d get rid of that and extend the classes by 15 minutes. The only other thing that I’d like to see changed is on the printed schedule. They need to go back to putting the start and end times. I was so confused about when classes actually ended and how much time there was in between classes. I would like see a change in companies represented but I know that is very limited because it’s a relatively small industry. I hope The Stamp Market and Pink Fresh Studio come back. The Greetery would be a great fit too. Simon Says Stamp should be represented with their branded products with Kristina Werner as the instructor or Cathy Z using her own SSS line of products. I really don’t care for The Stamps of Life, LDRS, Crafters Companion or Brutus Monroe so if they were replaced that wouldn’t bother me. Overall, I think the event was definitely worth the cost even if I’m not using product from a few classes. I don’t really learn new techniques or anything I haven’t seen in a Jennifer McGuire video but these events force me to use the products and I really enjoy the time creating. I don’t have any other money spending vices except cardmaking so this is me getting my fix. 😆 Also, I don't have any real life friends who craft so I like the community vibe of this event. I actually like that this cardmaking board is getting more active too. I could talk crafts ALL DAY LONG! It gets my mind off the real world crap going on. So very long story short, if you are a newbie and interested, take the plunge!
