I am bummed about the hero art class. I wanted to get some ideas for sympathy cards, now it will be garden critters. Oh well..um still super excited about the event. I love that C&9 giving us new colors. MichyM have you thought about Ohuhu markers? Amazon has them and you can try them out. They are less than $1 for one.

An old tootbrush for splattering sounds perfect. I currently only HAVE one watercolor brush, so....
I have Altenew alcohol markers because they have brush and fine tips, are refillable, and by collecting them 12-pack by 12-pack when they were on sale 45% off, I only paid ~$2 per. And because I LOVE coloring!
<Grumble> I placed a HA order around 5 am, including the Stamp Along. And some products from J McGuire's sentiment video yesterday. Her recommended products were flying off shelves/out of stock many places within hours of the video drop, as usual, so I didn't even think about waiting for a code.
I definitely do NOT have 12 hours of crafting a day in me. I took a vacation day Friday, but not Thursday...getting nervous.
Also remembered that I work from home on Thursdays....

Drama on the FB page.
Someone complained about the OLO markers and turned off the comments so now everyone is chiming in with a post.
I understand where she is coming from, but to have a meltdown about it?! She could just nicely ask the teacher to swatch the colors out so she can compare with what she has.

I'm trying to decide if, since my markers are Altenew, and Altenew is presenting, it's appropriate to reach out to either the Altenew instructor or their general customer service for help figuring out my substitutions for the Olo and Copics.

It always boggles my mind that people get so upset that each company is using their own inks or whatever to demonstrate their products. I mainly use GinaK, Lawn Fawn and Taylored Expressions inks. I own a good enough variety that I'm not buying any new brands or colors. I'll figure it out when I see the booklet. Same with OLO's - not buying them - I'm invested in Copic markers. I'm sure whatever needs to be colored I'll have something similar. Before I had Copics and I took classes at my LSS, I used PrismaColor pencils, Zig or Tombows. Same with with the few pieces of paper we need to provide on our own. I think it was the first one in March of 2021, someone said that the companies should provide all the inks needed. Um, No. Do you realize how much the event would cost? Not to mention how many duplicate ink colors and storage you would need to house them. I do appreciate that C&9th and LF have provided inks (except for the C&9th duplicates!) Sorry for the rant. This is why I usually stay off FB before the event.

You can always try. I only have like 10 copics and no OLO. I do have spectrum noir and some ohuhu to fill my gaps. I just look it the pictures of the cards and grab the closest colored markers that I have. I'm perfectly fine if my coloring looks different.

I would try and to Google "Altenew markers to Copic comparison chart" first and see if you can find a chart online. Or ask in the FB group if anyone knows of or has a comparison chart. I would contact Altenew after I've exhausted other options, but that's just the way I roll.

Thank you, at $18, I’m going to give them a go. All the while I’ll be thinking: Michy, please decide that you do not like alcohol markers cuz you don’t need another collection 🥴

I did as well last time and it was amazing and peaceful. I pretty much got all my info from you all, and thank you. I had to go over to FB to see the new schedule, supply list, and the like the other day (I never get their emails) and read some of the posts. I have to say, the repeated: “oh SCT is amazing and you are all such hard workers, we lurrrrrvvvve you, etc ones start to get on my nerves. Yes, this is a fun event, but I kinda think that people forget that SCT, the brands, the instructors all wouldn’t be doing it if it didn’t pay a decent living. There’s my rant for the day 😁 Sorry if it sounds petty!

I wanted to add that I do like when people create conversion charts to the different ink brands. Or like Jenn did with her swatch of Copic and inks for the class.

I got my shipping notice too.
I use white acrylic paint for white splatters.
I find many of the FB posts annoying too. It can be a little too much fan girling.

I saw the FB post by a lady who is overwhelmed because she feels she has to buy every ink pad and marker that every instructor is using. I definitely assume the person has OCD or is at least very controlling, which makes events like these no fun because you really have to learn to go with the flow, and use what you have because otherwise these events will bankrupt you. People in the comments were good, saying they use pencil crayons, etc. instead of markers. Hopefully once she gets her first event under her belt she will see that it's all chill.
I have to admit I do enjoy the drama, probably because I don't participate and just enjoy reading it. The fan-girling is definitely over the top sometimes, though, as if SCT is just doing this out of the goodness of their hearts (I do think they're good people with a great product and I like supporting SCT, but come on, let's be real). I think SCT handles these posts very well.
!2-hour crafting days are just too long for me, so I always choose a class or two to skip and catch up with later. That reminds me, I have to go finish a few of the fall 2022 classes, that will be a fun warm-up to this year's event.

I'm with marg , 12-hour crafting days are over the top! I know they want to give us a lot, but dang! I was exhausted by the end of their regular three day events in the past. I will probably also skip a class or two each day, as my chair at my scrap table is not the most comfortable to sit in. I'm glad they do these virtually, though, because otherwise I would not be able to participate. With all the other companies coming out with these events, I'm thinking C&C is good at their price point. The next Concord & 9th Summer Camp they talked about in the email, is just as expensive at this C&C with only six classes! I'm hoping C&C don't up their price for the fall event.

Looking at the schedule, the Saturday class starts at 6AM(!) pacific time. Nope. I think this year I'll start with the second class of each day and watch early class on replay at the end.

Yeah, totally not a fan of the Hero Arts peek. This set was released on the 20th so I’m just really thankful the class isn’t using product I had already purchased from the spring catalog.

Can you link the set? I'd like to see it. I just bought 5 Distress Oxides and silver embossing powder from Honey Bee Stamps - the discount paid for the shipping, so I'm happy. I'm trying to match what I have to what they're using, but those I didn't have. I wanted to order them from Ranger, because they have a 20% discount, but that code isn't active until March 20th - no way I'd get them in time.
