Why didn't anyone tell me it was February today? I posted my newest shawl on the January thread because I'm having a duh moment! I'm still working away at my WIPs. I think I have carpal tunnel in my left hand. I've been trying to use a brace and take it a bit easy on the crochet. So I might not get as much done. I'm awaiting an appointment with my doctor to see what is really going on.
Anyway, happy February!

I am having a difficult time getting good photos of this, but I am working on Attic24s Yuletide blanket using the Fireside pack. I love it; it may be one of my favorite blankets I have made for myself. I just love this pattern, how the rows are so small and kind of blend into each other. I am calling it my Call the Midwife blanket because I am making it while I binge watch Call the Midwife. I've never watched it until just a couple of weeks ago, and I've already watched the first 4 seasons. LOL Not sure how I missed out on it before. ETA: I took this out in my garage in front of the open door on my daughter's couch that is being stored out there. LOL It seems like the purple is showing up more than it does in real life for some reason. I will keep trying to get a good photo.

Just T, your blanket is beautiful! I loved Call the Midwife! I think I shed years for every episode. One of my favorite things is seeing how well they did with the characters clothing outside of work thru the years. And you will forever miss the midwives that leave the show.

I’ve been very busy felting, and recently completed this sheep. The fleece is made from wool yarn, and I was really happy with the texture it made.

It's my first time at this thread! I'm a crocheter. I'm working on a blanket for my sister's SO. We are going to Boston in May for DD's grad school graduation and it will be my first time meeting him. He is six foot eight so I'm making it extra big! I'm also working on a felt stocking for Christmas for DD's boyfriend who may be DSIL by then! Jeremysgirl, have you tried a different hook? I like Clover.

This picture shows the colors off better, but it was taken a week or so ago. Pictures really don't do justice to this yarn. You can't see all the color variations in each shade.

I end up teary eyed about something every single episode! I don't know why I never watched this show before, but now I can't stop. LOL I hate when a character leaves. Like when Jenny left, I thought for sure they would still follow her in her new path every once in awhile. It's such a fantastic show.

I'm awaiting an appointment with my doctor to see what is really going on. UGH. That stinks! That is my big fear, that something will happen and make it so I can't crochet. I hope just taking it easy will solve the issue.

jeremysgirl - thank you for starting a new thread. I love your new shawl (I posted on the January thread). Hope you find out what is going on with your hand. Just T - your blanket is so nice - love all the colors snoopy - your sheep is so cute!! akkaren - Wow. your sister's SO is tall! Can't wait to see the blanket you are making for him.
I treated myself to a new hook set (aren't they pretty?). I have plenty of hooks but I just couldn't resist these. I have heard a lot of good things about them and at the time, they were on sale for $20 for the full set, so I thought..why not? I started a new prayer shawl, again using Homespun yarn, that was donated to our church, but I am knitting this one. I just wanted it to be a bit different than the last one I made.

It's my left hand that has the carpal tunnel. I've been experiencing a lot of numbness. And I am right handed. So a change of hook won't help. Its my yarn hand. I am a huge fan of the Addi Swing hooks. They are curved and they rest nice and gently in my hand in the knife hold.

snoopy the sheep is so incredibly cute. disneypal is it Lion Brand Homespun? You are way better off knitting it. Crocheting it is difficult to say the least.

jeremysgirl Your shawl is very pretty! I hope your hand heals quickly. I had something similar happen when I started thread crochet, and I was using tiny hooks and crocheting pretty tight. I ordered some wood needle holders for my felting needles, because I’m scared it will happen again when I’m gripping those tiny needles. I second the recommendation for Addi swing hooks. They have been great for me.

The last shawl I made was crocheted with it and now I am knitting one. It can be challenging to crochet because it can be hard to see the stitches. So far, it is knitting up okay but I'm only about 10 rows in.

Hello you lovely ladies! jeremysgirl I am so sad you have an issue with your hand. Fingers crossed it just needs some strapping and anti-inflammatories. I am very partial to sheep and the felted sheep is so cute snoopy. Love the colors of your afghan Just T. Some of you might remember I started this last autumn then I put it down to do other things. I picked it up the other day and after 7 rows discovered I was using the wrong hook. You would have thought that the hook I had placed in the yarn, which was the recommended one, would be correct but no. So those rows came out and I redid them in the correct size for me. I’m nearly 1/3 of the way through now and the top edge is the working edge. There is every chance I’ll put it down in favour of something else again but I’m pleased with how it looks so far. Folk, if you’ve not seen phoenixcov’s lovely street of miniatures, may I direct you to 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/136919/dolls-houses-street-scene

I check this thread all the time but don’t really post as I’m mostly a paper crafter and hang out over on the scrapbooking board. I did think some of you might appreciate the socks DSO got me for Christmas though 😉. While not hand-crafted they do fit the theme!

tmarschall I was wondering if you had gotten started yet, but I have absolutely no judgement. I think we have a very similar approach to starting a new craft! I did see your recent crochet project, and I think you mentioned making it into a pillow? It looks so cozy!

tmarschall I was wondering if you had gotten started yet, but I have absolutely no judgement. I think we have a very similar approach to starting a new craft! I did see your recent crochet project, and I think you mentioned making it into a pillow? It looks so cozy! I haven't started yet but I'm thinking this weekend might be the ticket. I found a couple more books that I looked through to choose a good first project. I think I want to try a mouse or a bunny, but I also have a (dog) kit that might be a good starter. It's just not as cute. I am, as usual, overthinking it. It's just that I know myself and if my first attempts turn out lame I may decide I don't like it. I've also considered starting with something simpler like a set of hearts for a garland or necklace just to try the process/skills. The jury is still out on my crocheted piece. It went so quick and I enjoyed it. I would like it as a scarf or pocket shawl, but I'm hesitant to drop $50 or so in it to finish it, so a pillow might work. We'll see! I want to start some simple quilting projects so, and that $ would go a long way towards that too. It was great to keep busy for the majority of down time at sports events for the grandson's, so if we weren't done til baseball I would definitely order more to finish.

tmarschall a heart garland or necklace would be a fantastic beginner project, just to get the feel of holding the needle, learning how firm you want to felt, learning basic shaping, etc. I totally understand being turned off to a craft if your results don’t meet your expectations, and in my case, my expectations are quite high. I’m a bit of a perfectionist (maybe more than a bit). I have a few more projects to share, and each one got torn apart and redone before I was satisfied. That being said, what I really enjoy about felting is how free form it is. I can get ideas and inspiration from other crafters, but I don’t have to follow a pattern. I can make pretty much whatever comes to mind. It seems like you are a very creative and crafty person, so you may really enjoy that aspect too.

I recently finished felting this guy, and I’m pretty happy with him. He is jointed and can stand up by himself.
