I have seen bits and pieces of it. He is not a good person. I hope they find him guilty.

Is the trial online somewhere? I haven't looked.
I agree with what I've seen off the news.

Yes. I’ve been following it from the beginning. It’s been on Court TV for a couple of weeks. Quite a web of crime, one after another.

So many people here in the state are obsessed with the trial. Most of us have some "Keven Bacon degree of separation" with knowing a player or two in the drama so that heightens interest as well.
I'm not watching during the day but trying to catch recaps and highlights from various sources (Mandy Matney, FitsNews, and Lawyer Lori mostly).

I am watching some but mostly following along on Twitter.
It is such a crazy story. I wouldn’t give it a good review if it was a movie— after all, how evil can one guy be? But this guy—he’s awful!
For a long while I mistakenly thought he had killed his wife and his son stumbled onto the scene unexpectedly but that isn’t at all what happened according to testimony. It is just unfathomable to me.
I have been listening to the Mandy Matney Podcast as it has been laying out the story in real time. I feel so bad for all the victims.

Not even considering the murders, all that money he stole! Millions of dollars from innocent people.

Did I read somewhere that one of the sons might have pushed the housekeep down the stairs.. or was it you Spongemom Scrappants ? I wonder how the other son is doing. He has lost all of his immediate family, mom, dad and brother..

He has lost all of his immediate family, mom, dad and brother.. Paul and Maggie were both there when the housekeeper “fell” and some believe Paul’s infamous temper caused it. Buster, the other son, is rumored to have had direct involvement in the death of Stephan Smith (a young man who was openly homosexual) reportedly to cover up having been sexually involved with him.

Dick Harpootlian lived down the street from me and I had trials against John Meadors. It is the tiniest state sometimes! Following the trial closely from afar, of course. I built part of the final exam in one of my classes around the evidence in the case in the fall.

The first thing they tell you when you move to a small town is don't gossip about anybody - they are all related. Lol. Wish I had been able to sit in on that class. I'm intrigued with this case. And boy have I learned a lot about how much my iPhone could give away about my life. Whoa.

Weren't one of the son's also involved in a boating accident/young lady's death too?

Weren't one of the son's also involved in a boating accident/young lady's death too? That was Paul. He was drunk when driving the boat.

Weren't one of the son's also involved in a boating accident/young lady's death too? As answered above, it was Paul. The massive lawsuit coming out of that incident is believed to have been the proverbial straw that started Alex's whole house of cards to come tumbling down.

I have followed this story thru MMP, Murdaugh Murders Podcast...they do a great job at breaking down all the complications of this case. I'm behind on the latest episodes, so I avoid seeing the trial news until I can catch up thru the podcast. The level of corruption tied to this case is mind boggling. Although, the prosecution doesn't seem to have any smoking gun evidence for the murders, which makes me wonder if he will get away with it.

Yes! I've been following it since the double murders in 2021. I have been keeping up with the trial by watching it at 1.5x speed on You Tube, lol. I'm local-ish (Charleston, SC) so I think that's part of why it captured my attention. This case is so complex and they've barely scratched the surface in court so far.

I haven't watched it but have been keeping up with it in the news. It does seem that he may be guilty, based on what I have heard so far.

I was looking for something to watch on Netflix yesterday, and they have a series on this case starting up soon - maybe Feb 22, though it could be different depending where you are (I'm on German Netflix - we get some shows later than the US)

SC native here as well. Anybody see the blurb on CNN where Wednesday there was a bomb threat called in and the courtroom had to be evacuated for several hours? Then, turns out his sister had passed him a book through a member of his defense team, IN THE COURT ROOM, and he was back in his cell with it before anyone figured it out??? A John Grisham novel. It was midway down in this article and just written out like it was a common thing. Very odd. www.cnn.com/2023/02/10/us/alex-murdaugh-trial-friday/index.htmlCNN did not insinuate that the family called in the bomb threat, but it is all too convenient to smuggle him something then he be sent back to his cell during the evacuation, right? Anything on the podcast or twitter world about this? You cannot even make this stuff up.

His sister has reportedly passed him several things - mostly notes. Although I heard one account that accused her of passing him a pill of some sort.
The surviving son was caught flipping the bird at Mark Tinsley (the Beach’s attorney for the boat case) while he was testifying.
Alex’s family has been moved to the back row as a result.

I've been watching this week. The way the defense lawyer tried to demean the housekeeper's son was awful. The lawyer stated the son was not sophisticated enough to follow along with his questioning. His client stole 5 million from the housekeeper's family from the insurance money. His client didn't even tell the family 5 million was due to them, he tried to string them allow with a much lesser claim.

I don't watch it. Just catch the headlines and see over here.
What do the defense lawyers stand to gain from this trial other than national exposure? Mardaugh is broker than broke is he not??? I guess other family may still have money. I dunno.

For those interested in the case, you have to watch this this - The Behavior Panel on YouTube...4 guys who have various experiences in body language/interrogation skills (in the military/police/business worlds) etc who give their opinions on the types of things that people say when they are being deceptive. They just analyzed the video of his first police interview:

pjaye - thank you so much for posting that video. It was very interesting. I’ve been watching this case every day. I find them so interesting...and they are 100% right, his wife and son are lying dead just near him, and it happened like 30mins ago, if someone didn't do that, they'd be completely hysterical...but he's sitting in the car chatting away, pulling phone records...where's the grief, or the disbelief? Why isn't he asking who would have done this?

Yes, I feel like you do, pjaye. It was such a pathetic, fake show of grief. He literally checked his eyes to see if he could bring some tears !
