Hi Everyone!
I am curious to know if you ever purchased anything because a celebrity owned it.
I bought Veja shoes because Meghan Markle owned them.
Anyone else?

Can't think of one thing but I'm probably not their target audience. I go to movies but generally ignore celebrities.

Nothing.
I don’t really “follow” celebrities, and couldn’t name a single YouTube personality.

I usually think whatever a celebrity has something I might like it is out of my price range.. I can't think of anything off the top of my head. I only know a few YT people and never paid attention enough to buy something they had. Although I just shared a pottery thread and that is because Crazy Lamp Lady who I do follow loves pottery and I just went and search this lady out on etsy and loved her stuff... So like 3 degrees of a 'celebrity'..
I guess I need to revise.. I have lots of Pioneer Woman stuff...
But now I see those shoes, Superga sneakers, and because of this thread I might get them.. I have been looking for something like these to wear this summer with a maxi skirt.. I think these would be perfect.

Ok, well I know Pioneer woman has some stuff at Walmart, Martha Stewart used to sell things, Snoop Dog has cereal and some other things.
If I remember, there were scrapbooker celebrities that sold stuff.
Think far back.
I had the New Kids on the Block dolls as a teen

I've bought a couple of makeup things that were recommended by RachhLoves (I don't know her real name). I've liked them all at least B+ level, and she recommends things in all different price ranges.

I would say most of my stamps & dies are purchased because of something Jennifer McGuire created in a video. That woman could sell ice to Eskimos.

I buy cleaning products because I see them on you tube cleaning videos or instagram.
But I am finally learning that they get the stuff for free and they get paid to use it on social media. So they could be trying "advertising" a product that they wouldn't use otherwise. So I am trying not to buy so much anymore and just buy what I research and see good reviews for.

I got Superga sneakers because Catherine, Princess of Wales had them on in a magazine I was reading and I loved them. And they were reasonably priced! I still wear them almost every week.

I love to watch makeup/beauty influencers, but rarely wear or buy makeup. However, I recently saw Bethany Frankel on a TikTok and she recommended this Lottie London wingstamp tool, and it was my DD's bday so I bought it from Ulta: www.ulta.com/p/wing-edition-stamp-liner-duo-xlsImpprod18151017?sku=2526968&categoryId=cat80042I just thought it would be fun for her. I haven't heard if shes used it yet bc her bday was just this past weekend. I have my eye on the Drew Barrymore griddle - she has a line at Walmart and I need a new one, but just haven't pulled the trigger. I saw a lady on TT recommending her brand, but I hadn't heard before that!

I watch a lot of Booktube and board gaming channels on Youtube, so books and board games...and scrapbook stuff I guess. I also signed up for a Patreon of someone I watch, because there's a book club that goes with a subscripition (can't find one local.)
Furniture and decor stuff I see in the background, no, but I've been thinking of getting another rolling cart and storing my books on it (we already have three but they're all being used.)

I just saw the Princess of Wales wore a version of those shoes, and MM also had a pair. I looked them up bc I am always interested to see if I can afford something the royals have in their closet (the answer is usually no LOLOL)

I'll just tell you I read nearly every single book, Brene Brown features on her podcast. Some of the best books I have read have come directly from her recommendations.

There is a local Instagrammer I follow. She has a similar body shape to me and I have bought clothes she recommended, and liked them all.
I have bought cookbooks Nigella and Martha have recommended, probably a few others.
Definitely bought more pea endorsed stuff. I really want the 100 day dress 🤣

Years ago I saw a photo of Kate Middleton wearing a pair of Superga sneakers. I loved the look of them and ordered a pair for myself. I've had several pairs since then and I think they will always be a staple in my summer wardrobe.
I do follow a few fashion influencers on Tik Toc and Instagram. I'm mostly looking for fresh ideas about mixing pieces I already have in my closet. However, sometimes I'll see a sweater or dress or something else I really like. I'll sometimes look that influencer up on my LTK app and find out where I can buy a particular piece that I've seen on instagram or Tik Toc.
I'd never buy something just because a certain celebrity or influencer owned something similar. However, if I see a celebrity or influencer wearing something I really like and it's something I think I might look good in, then I might buy it.
ETA: Reading the responses above, it seems like Princess Katherine has really boosted sales of Superga sneakers!

I don't fall for stupid shit like that. I never bought a thing just because some celebrity or influencer had it. I prefer actual reviews from people who aren't paid to shill.

Nothing. I'm not an impulse buyer & don't follow celebrities or participate in social media (except for occasionally watching a brief scrapbook process YT video).

The only thing I've done in regards to a celebrity, is read one of their book club of the month books. But I didn't buy the book, I borrowed it from the Library. I bought several items, because of recommendations from the Peas.

I don’t follow celebrities. I have bought things because of YouTubers. Not clothing, but it was a YouTuber that introduced me to the Hobonichi planner. After I saw her video, I searched out others before buying one. I do the same for art supplies. I’ll watch an artist use a certain paint brand, research it a bit, then fall down the rabbit hole. I don’t follow fashion vloggers because I am pretty basic on what I wear.

So Katherine is wearing these Superga sneakers but says nothing about it, but people are buying them because they see she wears them and must like them. Is that falling for shit like that? I saw mention of these shoes and might get a pair because people seem to like them.. Katherine is wearing them, peas are wearing them.. so is that falling for shit? Cause I did.

No. I am not easily "influenced." I am trying to remember if I have ever ordered something because a pea recommended it. Probably, but I can't remember what it might be.

Not really a celebrity, but a girl I follow on TikTok loves ice and she buys all sorts of ice cube trays and she also makes coffee...all different kinds. I've purchased ice cube trays and various chai and coffee flavoring stuff because of her.

Martha Stewart I really liked her stuff at KMart which is non existent near me.
Now I buy clothes from instagrammers who are built like me. I’d say 90% of the time they work out. But the peas totally enable me. Especially beauty products.

I got Superga sneakers because Catherine, Princess of Wales had them on I bought Supergas and they just didn't fit right on me. It's been at least five years ago so I don't remember what model they were, and they have long since been donated. Bought my Hoka's because of another influencer..LOVE them. I bought Hokas on the recommendation of one of my sons and his wife and those I have loved. I bought them for a trip to France in Sept 2021 and am still wearing them!

I don't fall for stupid shit like that. I never bought a thing just because some celebrity or influencer had it. I prefer actual reviews from people who aren't paid to shill. I completely agree. It's nuts to me that people take the recommendation of a celebrity being paid to hawk the item. Cracked me up when I saw Kyle Richards (The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) in an ad pretending to use Madison Reed home hair color. AS IF. Although I exclude people from this statement who bought Superga sneakers after seeing Kate wear them, as it wasn't a fake ad. Emily Noel said she loves Milani eyeshadow primer. It was because of her I looked at it in the store, but I actually bought it because it was mistakenly (I assume) marked at $2, instead of $10.
