I love buying scrapbook products. I can't get enough paper and embellishments. However, there are certain things that are a hard pass for me.
Product: Epoxy. It turns yellow. Why do they still make products with it? I don't get it.
Paper/Motifs: I do not like watermelon paper. I don't know why, it is just a hard pass for me. I have nothing against watermelons themselves, and like to eat them, but I just do not like watermelon paper.
Dreamcatchers and everything else fake Native American or used in an insensitive way. I also don't know why this is still a thing. A Cherry on Top won a place in my heart forever when they pulled that one Echo Park line with the animals with feathers and war paint. I also watched a Cricut Youtube done by the woman (I forget her name) that everyone recommends and I saw a a past project had the phrase "My tribe" and a teepee and it really has affected my opinion.
I don't buy any cat paper that has fish skeletons on it. I don't know exactly why, but fish skeletons are a turn off. Too cliched maybe? No direct relationship to my cats?
I hate apple paper in school lines. I've been a teacher for 29 years and have always hated apples being associated with teaching. Again, I have no problem with the fruit itself, just in relationship to school. So cliched, so dumb.
What things are definite nopes for you?

I will no longer buy anything epoxy, because it turns yellow. I replaced epoxy products in my scrapbooks because they were yellow. I also threw away a bunch of unused epoxy merchandise because it turned yellow.
I don't care for vintage style or colors, or light-faded-muted pastel colors.
I don't care for certain words, so if a sheet of stickers or thickers has too many of the words I don't like, then I don't buy it.
Edited to add: I also don't care for little tiny stickers, because they end up looking like "sticker sneeze".

Balloons. Just regular ol' party balloon images, especially if they are in primary colors. I don't know why I dislike them so much; I would have to delve deep into my psyche 😄
I'm also not a fan of heavily glittered or bejeweled anything.
Anything that says "diva" or "princess" or "little man" gets tossed into recycling.

I agree about tiny stickers - other than enamel dots, heart/star stickers or words, I find tiny puffy 'picture' stickers a bit tricky to use.
Big prints on papers are also tricky for me; I love a good ditsy floral or a teeny polka dot... Doodlebug's Petite Prints are the perfect scale for me.
I love acrylic, but can rarely get those embellishments to stay stuck - probably need hot glue?
I don't love anything with too many colours on it generally; the tone on tone approach is a lot easier for me personally (especially as I'm colour blind with certain shades after dark, which is generally when I scrap).

The one paper in every themed line that has all the things on it in sort of a sticker sneeze. So if it's a summer line it has a swimsuit, a piece of fruit, a pool floaty, a popsicle, and sunglasses repeated all over the paper. It might look cute in the paper pack, but when it's time to scrap I almost always use the B-side.
Eiffel towers in travel lines. I've never been to Paris, France, or Europe it would be weird for me to use that icon. I also probably won't scrap my luggage so am not attracted to papers with suitcases all over it.
Cow or leopard print, just not my style.
Gingham, which I started a thread about recently. Especially red and white gingham. Apparently, in a past life I was assaulted by a picnic table.
Raccoons. We have had raccoon problems, including one killing our pet. They're mean and destructive not cute little trash pandas who belong on scrapbook products.
There's a certain shade of brown that is the color of baby poop, that I will not use on my pages.
Those are the ones I can think of, of the top of my head.

Large scale patterns Gingham - add me to the assaulted by a picnic table in my past life! Brown's and oddly enough gray, for whatever reason gray throws off/attracts my eye and I just see all gray. Those flat back metal embellishments with images (bottle caps but flat), like epoxy they age and turn brown and the image just looks dirty. While I love OA, all of those I bought have hit the trash can. Glitter on my PP. If I want glitter I will add it myself thank you very much. If the paper line does not have a stripe paper in it, I usually pass on the line unless it is EP or CB since they reuse the same colors and usually a striped PP from another line will work. Apparently I have an unhealthy obsessions with striped PP as well as Care Bears. Animal Prints

I throw away anything that say “blessed” or similar.
I avoid vehicles - enough of the bicycles, scooters, vw bus, old trucks.
No “girl boss”, “my tribe”, “hustle” nonsense either.
Adhesive backed brads. I know EP still makes these. I don’t enjoy using them.
Off white, cream or grayish whites. I want a crisp white in my patterned paper and embellishments thank you very much!

Among my long list: - Themed papers/embellishments (grateful for classic patterns on reverse sides & skip most embellishments) - Florals (which are pervasive in the industry) - Stereotypical or overused color palettes/icons/phrases/etc. (e.g. pink/unicorns = girl, best day ever) - Non-archival & bulky embellishments (e.g. acrylic, wood, epoxy, metal) - Products with factual/spelling/printing errors - Paper pads with gummy binding - Unsnipped die sets - Acrylic stamps - Floating icons, scene, detail/fussy cut, etc. patterned papers ...& many more ... A Cherry on Top won a place in my heart forever when they pulled that one Echo Park line with the animals with feathers and war paint. ... Correction: Bella Blvd - My Tribe collection was pulled from pre-orders by ACOT, SB.com, etc. & ultimately not released due to consumer feedback (see HERE).

What a fun little question artbabe! Totally agree with the epoxy issue. All those epoxy "bubbles". Wish I had that money back. "Fish skeletons" paper - funny! My cats (all gone now) never ate a fish! A snake maybe, and one got sprayed by a skunk. But no fish. @breetheflea, "attacked by a picnic table" - what a great sb page that would make. I confess I love ginghams. As for me, I find myself turned off by most diagonal striped pp, unless it's a monochromatic, like a dk blue with a lighter blue. It kind of makes me dizzy. Also I don't care for felt items on my pages. And I'm sort of leery of the puffy stickers. Not sure why.

Fun to read!!!
My biggest off-put:
a line marketed to "boy" "girl". Example - current Echo Park "Dream Big Little Boy" "Dream Big Little Girl". Boys have airplanes, trucks, lions, "planes trains trucks and toys, there's nothing quite like little boys", and "born to be wild" in earthy tones. Girls have bows, bunnies, unicorns, butterflies, flowers and rainbows, and "always be a rainbow in the clouds" or "stay magical" with a fugly dusty pink colour palate. UGH UGH UGH UGH It makes me want to boycot the companies that still do boy/girl lines! I even like some of the pps in these lines but will not buy one out of principle.
Also - super floral/vintage lines (graphic 45 and most of the "vintage" lines by SS) really bug me like gingham bugs others. I think I was held prisoner in some overdecorated twee farmhouse by a crazy pitchfork wielding lady in a tight bun or something.

I have mixed feelings about the boy/ girl lines. I wish manufacturers would move away from them. The recent campus Life from Photoplay seemed like it could have been 1 line, not split onto boy/ girl. However, as a boy mom, I appreciate that the boy lines are safe from pink. I know I'm in the minority, but I'm not a fan of pink and it seems like it's in almost every line. I don't mind using a little, but it seems like there's an over abundance of pink.

Almost all embellishments. Not because I DON'T like them, but I can rarely justify the price. I am not a fan of words especially aspirational crap; stickers, diecuts, or whatever. I'm fine with fun!, yea!, summer's here!, and the generic sort of words.
I'm not creative, so bold papers like Vicky Boutin, Graphic 45, and very vintage looking papers are usually a no for me. I feel like my photos are too boring. They don't seem to fit. Or I feel like they would get lost with all the busyness of the patterns. I'm definitely a B side scrapper, so if I were to use those lines, it would be smaller patterns.
I'm not opposed to themed lines because I typically know what types of colors are going to be used. So, it's easy to go to the boy, camping, or vintage category for darker or more masculine looking papers. Or go to the girl, spring, or summer lines for brighter colors. It doesn't mean I will scrap that specific theme though. Usually one side of the paper isn't specific to the theme.

I love this like and it’s rather unique, trying to decide if I can get over the boy/girl thing. I have absolutely zero problems with pink in a “boys” line. My son loves wearing pink. Colors have no gender. My biggest turn off is animal prints. I hate them.

The recent campus Life from Photoplay seemed like it could have been 1 line, not split onto boy/ girl. The good thing about that line, however, is that it is all one color palette so it doesn't really have to be split up- it could have been released as one line. I bought papers and the sticker sheet from both lines because I saw things on both that I could use for scrapping my nephew. Echo Park has 3 lines out right now called Our Baby Boy, Our Baby Girl, and Our Baby. I appreciate that they have a gender neutral one and that all 3 lines have similar colors that go together. I picked up select papers from all 3 lines to scrapbook my nephews' baby photos. But then Echo Park releases those Dream Big lines that are back to the same old tired gender roles. Evidently people buy them or they wouldn't keep making them. Some people like things very themed with traditional gender roles. I don't like it but evidently I'm not the target customer.

Anything that says "diva" or "princess" or "little man" gets tossed into recycling. Hate all these things. No “girl boss”, “my tribe”, “hustle” nonsense either. Yup, these are nonsense and tribe is not appropriate unless you're talking about indigenous people and even then white people should tread lightly. I truly hate overly gendered lines and will not buy them.

I think I was held prisoner in some overdecorated twee farmhouse by a crazy pitchfork wielding lady in a tight bun or something. Bwwwhhahahahaha!! This made me laugh so hard I almost spit out coffee. Reminds me that my child (25) is going nuts for anything retro to decorate the new apartment, "Cottagecore" to the hilt. www.homedit.com/cottagecore-aesthetic/I am put off by bold primary colors. I find them jarring and no matter how they are used they read kindergarten classroom to me. Any any combo of red white and blue screams 4th of July, and I don't even like that combo anyway, but just almost can't use it in scrapbooking. I also loathe cutsie animals on all but baby pages, and gendered stuff makes me want to barf. I threw out a whole ton of gendered boy stuff because I don't ever want to send out that message, or even give it to the thrift store.

I picked up select papers from all 3 lines to scrapbook my nephews' baby photos. Traci Reed did that line and I appreciate that she made all three versions complement each other. I will definitely be buying this if I actually ever start working on my kid's baby book (that's a big if because they're almost 8 and I have yet to work on it )

Products - over priced stamp/die sets, washi tape that sticks to itself or lightens the image.
Paper/motifs:
Best Day Ever
Boss Girl
Boss Babe
You Go Girl
Dude
Hustle
Kiddie vehicles, animals, etc. Our kids do grow up and aren't always 3-5 years old.
Bright colors especially primary colors
Large prints or backgrounds. Too hard to use
Flowers - enough already lol
Rainbows. Over them.
Random phrases or icons that have nothing to do with the paper line but are included int he embellishment packs. Like why?!

I can make most anything work but...
I wish that the boy/man lines used more neutral language...I use the papers/motifs to scrap my girls most often but hey dude, little man, boys... etc... just doesn't work. I actually think that's my biggest beef with gendered lines...not everyone falls into neat blue is for boys/pink is for girls gender lines. Can't we just have a skateboard or gamer or dinosaur or trucks/trains/sports etc...line that just is themed without the gendered terms? (and while I don't need them - I'm sure there are people out there who are wishing the same about unicorns and rainbows and the like).
And while we're at it - pink isn't really in the rainbow so...why are rainbows almost universally in pink collections and with pink?
With scrapbooking being so American-centric...I know I'm out of luck with this but I find it hard to use mom, favorite, color, neighbor etc...
and can we update motifs to be with the times? cassettes? ties? aprons?
And I detest (and Doodlebug is esp. big on this) the faces on shapes...my heart or banana or seashell doesn't need to smile

I love gingham!
I hate slick papers, bicycles with a basket full of flowers, llama (don't hate me), any lines overly gender specific, hot air balloon, basically all the over-used and seemingly required icons.
I also won't buy anything epoxy or puffy stickers.

Photoplay Wild Love, however, was manufacturered in 2018 & sold by retailers (as you pointed out). Please link to ACOT pulling this line; I could not find a thread or any information about it (only remaining inventory at various retailers, including Scrapbooking for Less, SB.com, etc.). It appears consumers are more aware/vocal about Native American appropriation now, given the negative response to Bella Blvd - My Tribe in 2021 compared to no (found) response to Photoplay - Wild Love in 2018. Hope awareness/respect for the culture continues to grow...

One of my pet peeves are scrapbook designers who lighten their pictures of products. I bought some paper I had seen somebody post on the Echo Park Instagram and when I got the paper it was way darker in person, the photos online bleached it out and it was deceiving. I sometimes scrapbook just 1 photo, but the design teams tend to make layouts with a 3x3 picture and then $20 worth of product on the page. I know they are trying to sell product, but it annoys me sometimes. Baby lines with diaper pins and old fashioned baby buggies (most people use disposable diapers and where are the strollers?). Also every baby line has "Dream Big" in it which I still don't understand that concept. Grandparents products - my mother doesn't have gray hair in a bun and sit in a rocking chair. They need to update those lines. School products that say A+ student, School Rocks, Bookworm. My child is there for socializing and recess, she is not an over achiever.

I also dislike baseball ones that say "home run". My nephew had a really good time playing baseball but we celebrated that he was consistently making contact with the ball by the end of the season. Kids participate in sports, and enjoy them, without necessarily being good at them. I'm not a fan of motivational phrases. Pinkfresh is particularly bad about this. If I use one I feel like I'm giving the person in the photo life advice, which seems rather presumptuous. Besides that, it is just cheesy. Does anyone actually use those phrases besides design team people?

For the same reason I'll never get a tattoo, I'll say that I'll never say never about something. There are very few things and yet so many things that I love or hate. I think some things just become more meaningful to me in different situations. I would have said that I'd never use a chandelier, but then want through a ride in Disney and that was the first thing I thought about with the pictures. I'd probably be pretty careful about using Native American ephemera and similar situations, but I know I have seen pictures of the nativity scene with bears or other animals that would probably offend some people. For me, I think my line is color. I am generally not a fan of pastels. I have used them, but I don't really love those pages. Out of experience, I probably won't use epoxy again. I have some that is 15 years old and still looks good, but others have yellowed.

I stay away from trendy motifs such as the cutesy animals like the foxes, owls, etc. I don’t care for paper with lots of big quotes that dictate what to scrapbook on it! I like to add my own titles and will add my own paper piercings, etc. I do like smaller neutral background prints that stand the test of time since I don’t scrap in order.
