Do you live out in a rural area or suburbs? despite living in a subdivision, we're still pretty rural...we're on the outskirts of a town in the unincorporated area with lots of undeveloped land around us. It's about an hour to the nearest city and nearly two to the big city. nylene - what a pain with the TV and internet - hope it's fixed for good now. kitbop - no scrapping today for me either...darn adulting, lol - I had to do chores and then DD16 had her national honour society induction this evening and we took her out to dinner afterwards

Linda , Congrats to your DD on her Honor Society induction. Glad you guys were able to be there with her! kitbop, sorry you didn't get the double points, but hooray for getting some needed things done.

kellyr21 I’m in SoCal too and I often see groups playing pickleball in the park. If you try it you should report back how it is! nylene we’ve been married almost 4 years, but we met almost 12 years ago in college. I hope you had a nice bridal shower, I’m going to one this weekend as well. I need to wrap the presents but I already picked out some wrapping paper, which is almost as fun as scrapbook paper.

Good Monday evening, Pokeys! Good to hear from so many of you in the last few days. Hope your TV and internet woes have ended for good, nylene. What a pain! We have had Satellite TV for years. Started with an Alberta based company which was super good with customer service. It was then bought out by a larger network, but they kept most of the original employees, so our service did not change much. But they have been cutting staff and consequently customer service over the past few months, and this month we got an email from them telling us they had merged with a giant conglomorate that I have heard lots of complaints about. So I guess we will wait to see how this settles out. Glad to hear you are doing some art work, kellyr21. Hope we see some of it soon. My mojo is so-so. Put together three pages over the weekend. Not inspired pages. But they are done. Enjoy your lovely weather. Our snow is almost gone on the yard, helped along by rain this morning. No hot temps yet, but yesterday it really felt like spring outside. kitbop I hope you and your family have an awesome vacation. Can't wait to hear all about it--and see it on pages! Congrats to your dd, Linda, on her induction to the national honour society! I am heading into justjac's city tomorrow. Need to drop off tax stuff at the accountants', and we have book club scheduled for tomorrow evening. I will get to print some photos at WalMart while I am there, and although I certainly don't need anything, I will be dropping in at the LSS. Well, I do need to pick up my Vicki Boutin foundations cs that they ordered in for me. Also need to stop at the farm store and pick up an AXEL that dh ordered. Pretty sure it will fit in my SUV.

Thank you nylene and grammadeesafe travels tomorrow grammadee - how far a drive is it? You sound like me when we head to the city...there's always a list of errands to run and things to buy that aren't available more locally I have DD16 home today. She really did a number on her leg when she wiped out biking on Sunday - it's badly scraped from ankle to knee. She went to school yesterday because she would have missed the induction ceremony otherwise (school has a policy that you must attend school in order to attend any afterschool activity) but she's not sleeping well so let her stay today. Hoping it'll finish scabbing over and be less raw by tomorrow.

Linda, I hope your DD gets some rest today and that the road rash will heal quickly. Hugs for her. grammadee, have safe travels. Enjoy some time with justjac and have a fun book club meeting. If you find anything new and exciting at the local scrapbook store, be sure to show us. So far we have TV and internet still working. We have had our car in to the dealer a couple of times to locate a "clunk" we hear as we drive up out of our driveway. They finally found that some motor mounts are broken. They ordered the parts and I will take it in tomorrow. Hopefully that will be the end of repairs needed around here for a while. I'm hoping for smooth sailing for a while. scrappyrabbit, have fun at the Bridal Shower.

Hey Pokeys! I am back at work after a long spring break, but so far my students are not. Attendance issues continue. I had a good holiday. I did four days at my mom's and then came home to start sewing a cape for my costume in clue. I bought a pattern that is not easy! I simplified it by not bothering with arm holes (which would be handy if I was wearing in all day, but aren't needed in this case) and eliminating the hood. It is still six panels for the outer part and six panels for the lining plus an interfaced yoke. It is floor length so the sheer size is making it tough. Plus there is some handstitching. Then Dean and I went to the city to see Pretty Woman (the traveling Broadway show). We stayed overnight and ate at our favourite fondue restaurant. We also managed to have lunch the next day with friends. I've been working on some daily pages but no cards or 12x12 layouts lately. I'm debating doing Layout a Day in May because I have a lot going on, but it might be doable if I stick to the 6x8 notebooks I used in February. The theme is Frogs, Pigs, and Fuzzy Bears (aka the Muppets) and I have a Sesame Street and a Muppet Show stamp set so that would be fun. I'm looking forward to supper and book club with grammadee tonight. nylene it is so frustrating when technology doesn't co-operate. I always assume I did something wrong when sometimes the problem is on the other end! joyfulnana I wish my nieces would play games with me. They're busy being teenagers and on their phones. kellyr21 I've only tried tennis once and even while just volleying we managed to hit the ball right out of the court! kitbop I wondered about contacts now that I have bifocals. I never did find they were as good as my glasses. I usually only wore them with costumes or for plays. Linda I hope DD heals quickly! scrappyrabbit wow six weddings is a lot. We only had one last year and don't have any this year but we're in that spot in middle age where most of our friends are married, but their kids are not quite there yet (or don't invite us:)

justjac , your cape sounds like a lot of work. What kind of fabric? It must be pretty heavy to wear with it being full length and lined. I'm sending great sewing vibes! Hope it goes well. When is your actual production and how many times will you be doing it? Have fun with grammadee . You know we are all jealous of the two of you getting to be together!

nylene it is going to be pretty heavy. I went with the cheapest fabric I could find because I needed to buy 6 meters of black and 6 of white. The black is the kind you might make slacks out of? It doesn't really stretch but it is fraying (fortunately the seems are all on the inside.) The white is a bit lighter and might have been a nice tablecloth? I didn't write down what they were so I'm pretty clueless. The black doesn't wrinkle but also doesn't really let me iron the seems flat. The white irons better but wrinkles. My shows are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night of Mothers' Day weekend.

Happy Tuesday! It is a little grey and cool today but that's ok with me. I am not ready for hot weather yet! LOL! nylene- What a headache with the cable tv folks! I hope they can figure out why it keeps going in and out. scrappyrabbit- I want to try Pickle Ball so I will share with you all if and when we try it. Looks pretty fun once you get the hang of it. justjac- Good luck on your sewing. That cape will be fantastic once you finish. Share pics with us if you feel comfortable. It was so cool to see you finished your knitting project, too. I would like to try knitting one day. I wanted to get my sewing machine out this year and give it a whirl. It would be good if I could find a sewing class so I can officially learn what the heck I am doing. LOL! Glad you and your dh got to have some fun with the various outings during your break. The fondue sounds yummy. Yeah, tennis is about control and so far my dh and I don't have much when hitting the ball. He hit the ball over the fence, too. We thought that was so funny. grammadee & justjac- Have fun at the book club event. linda- Wow, a hour to the nearest town! I know it is so relaxing where you live. I've been to Florida twice. Once to Tampa and another time to Miami for a quick stop on the way to a cruise. My dh has been to Disney and looks forward to going again. Waving hi to you gals and have a nice day!

nylene I'm glad you had time with family and got to spend time with the great grands. I have had so much trouble with technology latey. Nothing wants to connect or stay connected. It's maddening and yet here we are, not being able to function in society without the internet. kitbop have fun at Disney! I can't wait to see the pics and hear the stories! Linda how exciting for DD and what an honor! Congratulations to her! justjac thanks for posting your pages, I love the way you document day to day life. Doing a "Currently" card and Thursday 3 every week would capture so many of the little things that sometimes, make us who we are. I'm inspired to try it myself! Your cape ordeal would send me to the costume rental store pronto. kellyr21 I want to learn to use my sewing machine too. I never thought about looking for online classes. But honestly I have my hands full trying to get scrapping done lol. We cropped for 6 hours Sunday and all of that thinking did my head in lol. It was too much executive functioning being used, and Sunday I woke up in a mood and funk. I think my brain was tired lol. Things are picking up at work which makes my brain tired too lol. Not sure there will be anything creative going on here this weekend. It's a Rudy weekend and he shouted across the street to me yesterday asking if I wanted to go shopping with him for Mother's Day and Father's Day gifts. And proudly said he would be spending his own money. So it looks a shopping excursion and most likely a sleepover in my immediate future I hope everyone has a great rest of the week!

joyfulnana , what fun that Rudy wants to go shopping with you for his mom and dad. That's cool that he wants to spend his own money. Sounds like he's growing up. Glad you got lots of hours of scrapping in during double points, but sorry you are having tech problems too. Those companies really have us over a barrel. We really can't do our regular functioning without the technology. I hope you get yours cleared up. kellyr21 , I can't believe that you are glad that it's a little cooler today. We are expecting snow again tomorrow and Friday. It won't stick long, but it just seems like warm weather won't come. We are having a lot of flooding in some small towns because of the huge amt of snow in the mountains and 2 warm days that started the melting. The rivers are running high and having had very little water in them for several years, they have collected debris and sandbars that cause dams that make them overflow. I hope you continue to have cool and enjoyable weather! Wish I lived next door to you and joyfulnana . I'd love to give you sewing machine pointers. I'm no expert but I taught a lot of little girls to sew in 4H. It was fun chatting with grammadee and Linda this morning. I couldn't be on the crop for long, but enjoyed the visit. Here are my pages for Pokey Peas points. Only one was completed during the double point weekend. Carols & Confections 1997 Christmas Time to Fly

nylene your pages are wonderful! So so pretty! Sorry you are still having winter, but I'm with kellyr21 and would like a cool down lol. It's been nearly 80 quite a bit and it's just too soon for that in my book lol. I hope you had fun at book club grammadee and justjac. I think about joining one, but I feel like it may just feel like one more thing on my plate. Plus I'm so introverted lol. I was wondering the other day how I ever got over it enough to join in online lol. Linda I didn't realize you were so far from stores. Are there small towns along the way to pick up things in a pinch?

justjac - having made a similar cape for DD for Halloween from fleece and a broadcloth lining - it's quite a project to sew that much fabric! Good luck with the sewng and the show kellyr21 and joyfulnana - we're nearer to a small town (actually our county seat) which does have Aldi, HL, WM, and grocery stores as well as DD's high school. But for Target, Sam's, clothing etc... Have fun at book club justjac and grammadeeLOVE the pages nylene - I never remember to share here

Linda, thanks, that makes more sense and what I had kind of pictured. That the bigger stores were an hour, but you were nearer other things. It's storming here today and the city has been busy cleaning up all the roads for NFL draft that is being hosted here next week. Kansas City sure is in the news a lot lately, and not all of it for good things. I'm wishing for a power outage in a few hours so I can scrap instead of work LOL! I've got a week off coming up next month and I'm soooo ready for it. Things are picking up at work, which is good I guess lol. Except that we are back to only two of us in my department and I think it's going to be a rough summer. They ended up letting the other two newer people go. One a layoff last fall because things were so slow and one fired because he couldn't make coming to work on time, or at all a priority. Anyway I need to get some things done before work. Definitely having a sleepover this weekend because *shhhhhh* Dad has a coffee date! I'm so happy DS1 is dipping his toes into the dating pool. He hasn't gone out on a "date" since before the pandemic started. It's time

Good Thursday morning, Pokeys. Safe flight, kitbop! Say hello to the MOUSE. Looks like I will need to get back to the Gallery to leave some love for your pages, nylene and joyfulnana. And I know I am behind going through the Sharing thread to catch your pages, Linda. I played around with backgrounds and mats during the crop yesterday, but nothing completed by me since Monday. Nothing much else accomplished around here, either. Drove into town to the dr office yesterday. They had called me in for an appointment, but no need to change medications as of yet. I will go in for blood work tomorrow morning. While I was in town dh texted to suggest we meet at the pizza place for supper, so we did that. Tonight is the monthly Seniors' pancake supper, so if we go I won't have had to cook a meal since Monday, either LOL. Nothing much on the go today. Just some laundry. Still have a pile of pages to stow back into albums after their return from the printer last week. Tomorrow I will pick up a box of copies for dgd's grad album, and maybe some more originals. Dd's family will be arriving Saturday and here until Tuesday morning. Monday they will pick up the beef from the meat packers while I defrost and clean the freezer. Exciting that your ds has a coffee date, joyfulnana. And that you will be having more Rudy time. Hoping the rest of your work week doesn't play you out too much for that!

Well yesterday did not turn out as planned. Our sewer system blocked again and started backing up into the basement. It was a good thing I noticed it when I did and shut down the washer before it drained the last load. So... calls to the plumber and the septic tank guy, moving stuff out of the way, and an evening of mopping up after they left.
Still have a bunch of stuff to move back into place, but plan to do that tomorrow after the floor is totally dry. Today I need to go for blood work and want to pick up my scrapbook page copies. But of course Charlie decided she wants to avoid me this morning, and I am still nervous about opening the big garage door and backing the vehicle out when she is not contained. Last time that happened, she disappeared for 2 1/2 weeks.

oh grammadee - I'm so sorry. I'm glad that the plumber and septic tank people were able to come and get it straightened out but the cleanup is NO fun. I hope Charlie cooperates so you are able to leave safely. Lazy day here. I signed up for the Paper Crafts summit so am watching videos from that. Also downloaded the sample and day 1 gnomes from Crafting with Sarah and want to play with those hopefully.

Oh, grammadee, I am so sorry about your septic problems. I hope it can be fixed and you don't have to go through this again. Sorry that your day went off the rails. I hope your blood work comes back showing how sweet you are and no problems. Linda, I may watch some of the organization videos and I picked up the gnomes this morning. I really want to watch Paige Evans. I love her free files and she is donating 9. joyfulnana, I love your page! It just makes me giggle. I left you love in the gallery. Congrats to your DS on his coffee date. You will have to let us know how that goes. I hope he has a good time and is willing to get out there dating again. My neighbor set up card classes for the women in our church congregation. She is the one who started our card club in 2008. Em and I went yesterday morning and had a fun morning. The only ones who came to her 10 a.m. class were from our old Card Club. I think we have decided to start the Club back up again. We have several anti-vaxers and with the leader in her 80's, she felt she couldn't take a chance. We probably have all the Covid herd immunity we will ever get by now, so it will be fun to get together again.

Happy Friday! Waving hi to all you gals! It is another very warm day today but I hope to be able to get my usual walk in later on. nylene - I am sending some of our hot temps to ya. I hope the Spring comes to you soon. I would be tired of the snow at this point, too. Your card group at church sounds fun. I know you all will enjoy having fun together. Your layouts are so terrific!!! What do you do with your layouts when you are done? Do you put them in an album right away? They are so beautiful! I would like to dust off my sewing machine and learn how to sew. I wish we all lived close by and we could help justjac with her cape! linda - I bought a Paige Evans class weeks ago and just watched part of it the other day. I hope to actually start the layouts soon. Your summit sounds fun, too. grammadee - So glad you caught that water in your basement before it became a flood. Whew! I hope they can get it all resolved quickly so you can get back to scrapping. joyfulnana - Waving hi and hope you have a restful weekend! kitbop - Have a wonderful time!!! justjac - How is the cape coming along?

kellyr21, thanks for your kind words on my layouts. I don't scrap chronologically, so my pages go immediately into an album. I have 1997 right next to 2022. I title my albums by the year completed. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but it adds no stress of trying to get things in the right albums or years. I figure my family will just split them all up by family after I am gone anyway. Thanks for the warm weather you are sending. Today was very cold, but no snow. I think it's really trying to be spring. justjac, how's the sewing going? We are having Doug come this weekend to work on our technology. Comcast sent us a new modem and 2 new cable boxes because our others are getting old. I just about cried when they arrived with the note to switch them out. I decided it was beyond my abilities so Doug and Em with do it for us. I just hope everything works afterward. I don't trust Comcast anymore. We are looking into getting Utopia, but I have to make sure it carries all of Steve's favorite cowboy stations. ( gramma will understand that!) Have a great weekend, everyone.

Good Saturday morning, Pokeys! Isn't it great to have family help, nylene? Dgs and his dad will be here mid day and they will help with moving the heavy things out of the way so I can finish washing the basement floor with bleach, taking a couple of larger items out to the dumpster, and then moving everything else back into place. I am so happy our basement is not finished, so it is just a matter of mopping up the cement. Last flood we got rid of the throw rugs in the flood path, so clean up this time is much easier. Another project we will be working on will be to clean off the deck so that we will be able to have summer meals out there again. Temps have not been above about 12C so far, but a girl can hope. Before they arrive, I will continue stowing originals back into scrapbook albums. I was able to trick Charlie into her "condo" with a little of her favourite canned fish yesterday (and pretending I was not looking for her LOL) so I drove to pick up a pile of copies and another batch of my pages. And the album I ordered for the grad book arrived yesterday. The page protectors came last week. So after I have returned the originals to their homes I can start assembling albums (one for this year's grad and one for next year's). Okay, must get off the computer and get some things done.

grammadee, I agree that family help is so wonderful. I hope your clean up goes smoothly. I think Charlie must just want to be around you and doesn't like being left behind. I'm glad she returned. No scrapping or internet for me this weekend as we are again having difficulty with Comcast. They sent us all new cable boxes and router and asked us to change them out. Doug spent the whole day Sat. doing it for us and still couldn't get one to work. Comcast finally admitted that the cable box was bad and would have a technician out on Monday. Since there was nothing wrong with the old one we were using (except it is old) Doug hooked it back up so we would have TV until the technician comes. Today they called to say they are not sending a technician because they can see that the TV is working. I tried explaining that the new box was defective and she insisted that I start all over and try the new box again! She was sure she could make it work, haha. So we have a technician coming tomorrow with a new box, hopefully. I feel like I have wasted a week with all the mess they have caused. The good thing is that the new modem is now working so we have internet again. All boxes came with small black remotes that DH can't see at all. He had the old remotes memorized, but will somehow have to learn the new ones as the old ones aren't compatible. I see the frustration as he tries to use them. I feel better after purging all that! Sorry for the gripes. My BP has been sky high for the last week. I needed to vent, I guess.

grammadee I’m glad you have help cleaning your basement! nylene ugh technology issues are a huge pain! I hope it gets cleared up soon. That sounds frustrating. We spent today assembling the baby’s dresser, and sorting through endless bags of hand me downs. I’m beat! You should see the amount of clothes… I joke I could probably have triplets and still none of them would be naked. I’m so lucky I have a big family and lots of baby clothes ready to be put towards good use. Next I need to clear out my scrap closet, which will become the baby’s closet. I have a few more weeks I think before that happens.
