This is the only one of the three I could get within a reasonable amount of time from the library. LOL! Thanks styxgirl for keeping us on track!

I listened on audible. (Shame on me, but eye floaters!). Very good choice!

Same here I have put holds on several other books but the other two for this month are 7-14 weeks out lol. I put a few other books on hold that were in the long list that sounded interesting hoping to be prepared for a future month.

Not going to lie - I have zero interest in reading about The Vanderbilt family. Same here. I am going to read on of the other books

I read this when it first came out. I still don't know what my feelings are about the Vanderbilt's as a group. They had everything they could ever want except for happiness, it seems to me. What are everyone's thoughts?
The hold requests for Mad Honey are outrageous so I'm going to sit that one out.

I just downloaded this to my Kindle and will get started tonight. I think I will get an audible account to listen to the other books while I’m working on unpacking.

I am about halfway through the book and I am really glad I chose to read it. It is much more than a book about the Vanderbilts. I really enjoy reading about the history of New York and Newport. I watched "The Guilded Age" streaming show, and I was surprised how much the fictional characters resembled some of the Vanderbilt family members. Also, marriages like Consuelo's to the Duke of Marlborough inspired Downton Abbey. (I read about that in the book "To Marry and English Lord," which I recommend if you are enjoying Vanderbilt.

How is this on Audible? Is the narrator bearable? I need something to listen to while I walk.
Edit:: never mind. I see that it's Anderson. I will listen.

I read it on Kindle. I think there was a family tree at the end. I wished that I had found it when I started because it did help to keep everyone straight.

Finished this a couple of weeks ago. Seems like not many people decided to read this one even though it was the top pick according to the poll.
Anyway, it wasn't what I was expecting at all. I was thinking more memoir format and instead, it was more history textbook. I felt like the Vanderbilts really thought very highly of themselves. The constant jumping around made it really hard to keep track of who was who (especially given the habit of naming kids/grandkids the same name) and when the events were taking place. The hardcover had the family tree at the front but since it didn't have dates it was sometimes hard to figure out which Cornelius Vanderbilt they were referring to.
