I am signed up but it looks like you have to buy suggested products. Is that true?

No you don't have to buy if you don't want. You will need a basic kit and some ink colours. I used what I had on hand my 1st time...3 ink colours. Know what? Those are still my favorite cards!
The classes will supply almost everything you need.

Also for those who have said similar things about wanting more focused techniques and classes, look at the classes/workshops Hero Arts does. One thing that’s nice about these is you can use your own similar supplies if you prefer. If you’re not one who cares about recreating a card EXACTLY, I think their education alone is worth being able to play with what you have and get more use out of those stash things.
Jenn Shurkus is another one who offers classes and they’re very affordable. She has a Copics class! And she does a lot of cute classes with various Lawn Fawn sets. Plus Lawn Fawn then does free classes with a lot of the same sets. Such a great way to stretch your sets and make a nice stack of cards.
Pinkfresh also recently did a smaller class event with a specific (small) set of products. I didn’t take this one but it’s another way to take classes using similar supplies if you don’t want to buy another set of things. Hopefully they do more, the idea is a good one.
I think I’m missing some others, but chime in if you think of any others!

kokomo37 Welcome! You definitely do not have to buy the suggested products. My suggestion is to wait for the box and look thru the booklet at the completed cards. If it's a product you would never use again, I'd find an alternative in my stash or just complete my cards without it. For example, silver shimmer watercolor paint (or similar, Kuretaki Gansai Tambi is recommended). I would not purchase these unless I thought I'd use it again. I have some shimmer sprits in my stash so I'll use that. You can also use perfect pearls in water too. Once you have the book, you can see how all the random suggested supplies are used and if you think you need it you can purchase it.

Thanks MDscrapaholic for posting all the sneak peeks. I'm glad Lawn Fawn has an autumn themed card. I was hoping for at least 1 Halloween cardmaking class, oh well. I don't plan on stressing myself out and finishing all the 16 classes that weekend. This is supposed to be fun. What works for me is to split up the classes and not try to do them the whole weekend. Recently, I completed SCT's Christmas in July class, which was only 3 classes. I watched later and ended up taking 1 class a day scattered throughout the week and had a blast. I took them late at night but it was nice because it gave me something to look forward to throughout the week.

I really like the color scheme for the scrapbook.com class. I’m guessing it’s mostly from a pattern paper pack and I like the playful font of the thank you die.

I'm so happy to see the fall-themed cards! I have so many fall birthdays, I'm sure I can adapt them to be birthday cards.
The FB page can definitely get annoying. I realize people are excited, but so many people are just too intense. I do enjoy some drama now and then but I also feel a lot of people are just attention-seeking and so they'll say they're super stressed or whatever just to get attention. It's actually kind of fascinating, the different personality types. I have a SIL who needs reassurance about every little thing, so I can just imagine how exhausting she would be in the group - luckily she's not lol.
I think I get enough out of the C&CD events to continue doing them. I've been finished up last fall's event and really enjoying those classes on my own. My husband is loving the cards, even the ones I don't like, so there's something for everyone haha.
I was just thinking today about how much I like Taylored Expressions. Before C&CD I never gave the company a second glance, I just assumed it wasn't for me. Now I have a huge wishlist for them. So, this event has definitely opened up new styles and companies for me, and I'm super happy about that.

I'm not far from Toronto so I probably won't get my shipping notice until Friday. I'm super excited to open my box soon!! MDscrapaholic: *I am now collecting TE inks! Agree that their stencils are great. I haven't seen their snarky sentiments but now I'm going to go check. I really want their gnomie die, the one with 4 gnomes, it's so cute.

So, are we on Team RipItOpen or Team NoPeek? I'm debating which one to be on this time!
I've always been Team RipItOpen but am also doing the PinkFresh/StampMarket event the week before, and want to prepare for that one, as it is my first event with them. I guess I better post over on that thread to see if there's homework or not.

I'm totally team rip it open. I foresee a ton of homework so I want to tackle that piece by piece as soon as possible. Since I'm doing both the PF and C&CD events, I need to get as much prep work done as possible leading up to the events.

One of these times I might get brave. I would have likely done the PF and SM event but I just cannot spend $$ on Xmas stuff. I have sufficient and have not used all of it.

Since I'm doing both the PF and C&CD events, I need to get as much prep work done as possible leading up to the events. Same, same. The first time I did C&CD I was #nopeek, and then the second time I was #ripitopen, and the second time was much better for me - I could start homework and organizing and deciding what projects were worth buying supplies for (if I didn't already own them). So now I just always open it up right away and start checking the contents and prepping. I'm also doing the PF event and I didn't even think of the fact that I'll be doing prep for both or that PF prep will cut into C&CD prep time. Oh well, September just got busier than I realized.

I'll be opening it. The first two I waited until the unboxing to open. Then I realized I want to get in there and see if I need anything (hopefully not), get it all organized and start the homework. I like to do one or two classes of hw each day rather than power it out all at once.

I would have likely done the PF and SM event but I just cannot spend $$ on Xmas stuff. I have sufficient and have not used all of it. Take the spring event, then. No Christmas stuff in that! LOL Thank you! I've done a few over the years. I am kind of hit and miss on what I actually finish, though. You and me both! I still have a few classes from the fall 2021 event that I can't get my head around. One day!

I'm currently finishing up last September's card event and I have to say I'm having a blast with it! I ended up not being able to do most of the event at the time due to some family issues that suddenly cropped up, and it's taken me this long to get around to it - but it's so worth it to go back and finish the classes. I'm even making the cards I was sure that I would hate and would never use, because I figure I paid for it and maybe I'll learn something - and it's turning out surprising well! Some of the cards look way better in person that in the booklet. Also, some of the ones I consider kind of juvenile I realized would actually be perfect for my little nieces and nephews. Plus, now that I'm not rushed to keep up in a live class, I can adapt the ones with sentiments I'd never use to say "happy birthday" or whatever I prefer instead. Win, win, win.
All this to say - it's really worth it to go back and do the classes, even if you think they're not for you. If nothing else you'll validate that you really, really did not like it and your gut instinct was right, lol.
