That is so encouraging that the man saw her recently. What a wonderful group that is helping you!! This reinforces there are generous and kind people out there. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that she is found soon.

Did you leave a piece of clothing that may have your scent or kitty's scent? I think I saw that somewhere but maybe that was for a lost dog?

I'm glad to read that she has been spotted and the homeowner is being helpful!
I will share my lost cat story. We had always been a dog house, but my parents relented and let me get a cat. The next year when we went on summer vacation, my parents decided to do with the cat what we did with the dog. Which meant taking them to a friend's house in the country and letting them roam free. 11 year old me knew this was a very bad idea! As you can imagine, the cat disappeared the first day, and my parents spent the whole vacation worrying about how they were going to tell me. We went out to friend's house many times, talked to all the neighbors... no cat. Five months later, on my birthday no less, we get a call from the friend: they had successfully trapped the cat! Unbeknownst to me, earlier in the month they started seeing her more frequently, definitely eating food left out, etc. Even then it still took a couple weeks for them to be successful.
I hope it eventually works out for you and your kitty, but it could still be a long process.

I keep checking back to see if you have your kitty back in your arms yet. I think it is very encouraging that she was seen close to where she ran off. I am still thinking of you multiple times a day and sending out positive vibes into the universe for her to come to you. If I was in that area, I would be out there looking too.

I'm hoping that in time, she feels less afraid and is willing to trust a human. There are very wonderful people in that area that will get her back to me. I'm trying to keep hope alive, but my heart is broken.

I would probably pitch a tent on the property of the generous man who granted you access and hope that the kitty would catch your scent and come into the tent during the night. You could hunt for her during the day and carry food with you to lure her in. I know with my cats, all I need to do is shake the container of treats and call out, “snack time!” And my kitties come running. I have taught them to line up and I go down the line, giving everyone a treat. My dog joins the treat line too. One of my male cats is smart enough to realize that if he stands in the first-in-line position, gets his treat, then runs down toward the end position for a second treat, then fast as heck gets back into the #1 position again, he will get twice the treats that everyone else gets.

Thank you scrappintoee! Lexica, I would do that if it weren't for the black snakes I had to dodge all during my time there. (Shudder) He told me to never walk around without a rake or stick. I really thought she'd smell me/hear my voice and come out of the trees. Why can't cats be more like dogs in that sense?

Thank you so much for asking, but unfortunately no. 😢. I did get one man who thought he had her but it wasn’t her. He was so sweet and planned to keep the one he found. That made me happy. I’m keeping hope though!

You are not going to believe it...I just got off the phone with the son-in-in law of the man I met while down there. They have been setting the live trap everyday and they caught her today!! I am so excited!! They said she looked scared but healthy. She still had her collar on. I have to go to Minneapolis for an appointment tomorrow then I'll come right back and head to Oklahoma early Thursday morning. It's about a 16 hour drive so I probably won't get her until Friday morning. A HUGE THANK YOU to all of you for the well wishes and hope you've given me! And to rodeomom for walking all that area searching! I am so HAPPY!!!

We had the same thing happen when I was kid, and returning to the US after 4 years in Germany, we were traveling cross country. Our cat slipped out of the car, and we spent hours searching in some swampy part of Florida. We finally found Igor, and it is still one of my worst/best days ever.

I'm glad you found Igor, jackietex ! I love a happy ending to a story! It's an awful feeling not knowing, but so thrilling when you're reunited! Quite the rollercoaster ride. Like quinmm14 said, the kindness of strangers is just unbelievable! There are so many wonderful people!
