more rain and severe thunderstorms here today...it's been days since we've seen the sun. Hoping the weather is better in North Carolina for DD but I doubt it - their forecast shows rain as well. They are well prepared for rain and I think it's rained on nearly every camping excursion they've done as a troop. I'm very tired of labelling photos but it needs to be done. I'm also hungry - liquid diet today isn't my fave. So between that and the grey weather...I might just take a nap. Good luck to your DD and dgs grammadee as they finish up packing etc...and prepare to move. Safe travels when you head up to help out.

Happy Wednesday! Hope you are having a nice day. It is warm and sunny here. Today, I had 2 classes so far and have 2 more later this afternoon. grammadee, one of the classes was a Summer gnome and I thought of you. They made him with floral foam, fabric and flowers. So cute! Last night's drawing class was fun but a lot. This is the newer class I found to until my regular one comes back. So in this one she gives us 10 pictures one at a time with 6 minutes to sketch/ draw each one out. I made 8 of the 10 which I was proud of. Last time, I might of done 3 or 4. LOL! Mine are mostly sketched and unfinished but some of the other students even color theirs with watercolors and colored pencils. So neat! nylene, grammadee linda- I did a little practice today with the knitting. It is a challenge but I think I am starting to see how to do the basic knit stitch. I'll practice more but not sure when I will have anything complete. LOL! So sweet to hear your experiences with knitting. Nylene, I didn't know you were a lefty. Yeah, that must be a challenge to learn some crafts becuase most of the teachers are right handed. I'll keep you all posted if I finish anything. Maybe justjac can give me some pointers if I need it. linda- Yeah, I get it! Some days you just gotta take a nap. LOL! Yesterday afternoon, I did just that, too. I can't take naps but I just needed to chill and veggie out. nylene- Hope all goes well in your preparations. Take it easy, too.

Just a quick note before I run fix dinner. Linda, I hope your prep and tests go well tomorrow! kellyr21, I'm glad you are enjoying your classes. Sketching scares me. I watch Anj's DH sit and sketch anytime he sits down and I am amazed. No wonder he works for Pixar. Your knitting sounds fun. joyfulnana could give you pointers too. I hope it goes well and you can show us your results. JoAnn's has cardstock on sale for 10 for $3 so I had to take time to run get a bunch of paper. I will be putting fall leaves on the church bulletin board in the fall and I might as well get the paper at a discount. Have a nice week and weekend, everyone.

Good Thursday morning, Pokeys. Safe travels to your family coming to you, nylene. justjac, I hope the school year is winding down smoothly. 2kitbop and joyfulnana, I hope you are starting to feel your energy ebbing back. Still too wet to weed, but at least the sun is shining today. By tomorrow morning I should be able to get at that job. It would probably take a young person less than a day, but it will take me at least two, maybe three. The rain has done wonders for the veggies: they are all looking happy this morning. Should have taken my phone with me to get a pic of them when I walked down there to check on them. I have time this morning to scrap, but no concrete plans on what to do with the next page(s). I will have a whole day at dd's on Tuesday so I have started to think about page kits I can pack up to take with me. Maybe I will start putting those kits together while I do some sorting/cleaning in here. Also have a list of cards I need to make, and--as often happens when I make a list or a plan to do something later--I found some things that might work for one of those cards and then started assembling it on the spot. Still not done, but need to wait for the glue to dry. Speaking of needle crafts--have you seen the crewel/embroidery kits at ACOT? I never got the hang of knitting, but I really loved sketching a simple pic and then filling it in with yarn. The kits look more like paint-by-number, but maybe if I started with one of those, I might get back into creating my own? Okay, back to sorting and planning, here.

Thanks nylene - I'm very tired but done with the prep and procedure. Planning an early night since napping failed to work both today and yesterday...yesterday was just too stormy (loud thunder and bright flashes), today...I dunno...I just couldn't get to sleep. grammadee - glad the sun has finally made it your way. We're still waiting on it...maybe Saturday? Good luck with the weeding.

I'm the opposite of you grammadee - glad to see some rain (for the garden) and glad it will be rainy tomorrow so I have an excuse to stay inside and clean or scrap! This weekend was strange: off Friday to go to my aunt's first visitation; worked Saturday; off Sunday as a bereavement day to attend aunt's funeral; off tomorrow in lieu of Saturday. By the time I get to work Tuesday I'm going to be very mixed up as to what day of the week it is! I'm glad that my Aunt's formal goodbyes are over. Everything went appropriately, but her service today was very old fashioned - not the sort of memorial I would want for myself! My cousin spoke and he included humour and truth and love and that was the best; but we had 2 ministers give sermons that were a little strict and long and made us all tune out... then we had a reception with sandwich quarters and coffee in the big church percolator and wow can we talk about our shared heritages and how we can all clearly imagine what I'm describing without being there? kellyr21 - sounds like you have some really good classes happening! I knit a lot when the kids were little - got good enough to turn out cable sweaters and dinosaur hats - but no one really WANTS sweaters or hats anymore so there is little point to knitting! I think I might do a dog sweater for winter for the new puppy tho! Linda - everything happily over for you?

I made it back from Costa Rica a week ago. A couple of days after coming back, I had a sinus headache and congestion. I am feeling better now.
I had a fantastic time in Costa Rica!! I didn't want to come home. I love my adventures and living resort life at the pool and beach. I need to organize my photos and then print them. I am excited to make an album of my trip.
I hope to upload photos to Flickr of my trip. I will post a link when I do if anyone wants to see them.
I used my birthday and some money I made from a garage sale and bought myself a Kitchen aide mixer! I went into Bed, Bath & Beyond which is closing. They had them for 40% off plus had them in pink! Win, Win!! I knew I wouldn't find that good of a deal like this so went ahead and bought one. So far I made refried beans and it was so easy and quick!
I am relaxing at the coffee shop. I return to work this Thursday. I need to meal prep this week.

kitbop ((((Hugs))) I'm glad all went well and is over now. Two sermons seems a bit much. Yes - all done with my procedure -just waiting on biopsy results - I have a mid-July appt to go over those. knutschen - glad you had a lovely vacation. Great deal on the kitchenaid! I think they are so pretty but I so rarely use the stand mixer I already have...no point in upgrading. DD came home last night - she had a wonderful time! I'm still labelling and organising photographs of my mum's - 2004-2019 are done, I'm working on 2003 - hope to get it done tonight. grammadee do I get to take any points for the 12-ish hours I'm putting in each day on this? Big news - my sister and BIL are making plans to go to England in 2024 and have invited us (me and DH) to tag along. I haven't been back since 1990 when we went over to see Dad's grave (he died and was cremated in the States but mum had the cremains sent to his family plot in England - he's buried in his grandparents' grave)

knutschen - glad you had a fabulous trip! I got my kitchenaid about 15 years ago (ish? maybe more!) when my Mom wanted to get me a stand mixer for my birthday. I could not live without it, and altho it could use a tune-up and I've gone through lots of paddles, it is an absolute workhorse! Congrats!

Welcome home, knutschen. Glad you had a great birthday vacation and that your sinus infection didn't knock you for too much of a loop when you came home. Would love a link to your holiday photos. I was in Costa Rica for only part of a day when on a Caribbean cruise, but what I saw was beautiful. And you will love your kitchen aide. I have had mine for well on 20 years and it is still the gift that keeps on giving. Glad that your aunt is finally put to rest, kitbop and that you had the opportunity to share stories with your family. Hope this strange "long" weekend helps you get rested up, even if you DON't know what day it is LOL. I don't mind rain--in fact we really need the moisture--but I prefer it to come quickly and get it over with. On and off drizzling didn't provide much moisture and just served to keep me away from the weeds. We did get a decent rain a couple of days and I was able to get out there Friday, Saturday and today. Finished up right before a thunder storm came through: to quote Shakespeare, lots of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Hope you have fully recovered from your colonoscopy ordeal, Linda, and that your results are negative. Yes, count your hours sorting photos for this quarter's total. Sounds like there will be lots of excitement this next year what with your trip to Britain and kitbop's house hunting. Hoping Cousin Camp came off without a hitch, nylene, and that you get a chance to rest up after everyone is gone. Excited to hear about it. I am heading to dd's tomorrow and will stay until Wednesday. She has a long day at her work home base on Tuesday, so I will get dgs onto the bus and pick him up afterward. I am taking a small kit to scrapbook during the day. Dd has moved alot of stuff but she still has her art table for me to scrap on. I plan to drive to the school at end of day and get some photos of dgs with his favourite teachers. Then we will tour a few of his favourite places in that town so I can take pic's for him and me to scrap his memories of that town. Dd has warned me that the tour will probably involve the skate park, so those pic's should be fun! Today when I finished in the garden, I started putting together a list of prompts for the first week in July. They will mainly be challenges to get ME moving to get some photos taken and some pages scrapped LOL. Hope some of you will be able to play along with me as the summer goes on.

Great pics knutschen! Love the moody scenery pics from bright to rainbows to clouds at the mountain tops. Love the animals especially all the cats and capuchins. The hydrofoil boat looks fun, the treetop walk (I think) - that must have been exciting! = and the best is all the food, drink and cafe pics! I'll leave the manchineel tree in Costa Rica tho Thanks for sharing!

Happy Monday! Hope you had a nice weekend. Yesterday, we went to eat at one of our favorite resturants for the first time in a few years. We enjoyed it so much even though it was a little noisier than I remembered. LOL! Then, we chilled out at the golf course (in the car) and then had time to stop by the tennis courts and hit a few tennis balls. Today, I got a nice walk in and had my knitting class. I am still practicing and finally got my first knit stitch row. kitbop, so cool that you knitted so many things in the past. I think Poppy would love a hand made coat. nylene- How was cousin's camp? I know you all had a great time. knutschen- WOW! What a fantastic trip! Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. I loved seeing all the ocean shots and the wild life. Oh and the rainbows were awesome. I know you had fun, too seeing the cats and dogs. I hope your got loves of rest and joy celebrating your birthday. You looked so happy! So cool you got a mixer, too. Any special plans for baking? grammadee- Have fun at your dd house. Is it far from you? I can't remember if you told us already.

hello Pokeys! nylene I hope you are either still spending time with family or resting up from Cousin Camp. knutschen, I hope to take some time in the next couple of days to go through your tropical photos. So jealous! Linda, my beans are at least a month from producing up here. And I am in no hurry to start with the preserving stage. Still a little stiff from my weeding marathon on the weekend. Managed to *almost* complete 5 pages during the day while dgs was in school. Need to add some extras and some journaling now that I am home and will post tomorrow. Got some cool pic's with dgs yesterday from the gang goofing around waiting for the school bus to him with a couple of teachers at the school to the skate park with his scooter to his soccer game last night. Hoping if he can scrap his "old" friends and haunts he will find adjusting to the move a little easier. Transitions are hard for him. What was really cool for me was that while we were in the school there were so many smiles and greetings to him from students and staff. His favourite teacher told me how proud he is of his progress this year, and said "He is destined for great things." His special ed teacher said "We just love him and will really miss him. He is such a good kid!" This team has done a wonderful job with him and the difference in his confidence between fall and now is amazing--they even did a retake of student photos this spring and the sparkle in his eyes is back! When dgs was writing in his homeroom teacher's thankyou card, he wanted to know how to spell EXCELLENT. I am home with an SUV jam packed with dd's household goods. She loaded my vehicle this morning and will be bringing another full vehicle on Friday. She plans to unload both, then head back for one more load this weekend. By July 2oth she will be completely moved. I will prob be making a couple of trips between now and then--once to ride back with her so we can load and drive both their vehicles out here, and once to drive up and back with my SUV again for an extra load. kellyr21, the distance between our houses now is about 2 1/2 hours. When she is moved it will be 15 minutes. Okay. Gotta see what there is around here to heat up for supper...

grammadee - my beans came from the local produce shop - they were marked down from 24.99 to 9.99 for a bushel. I didn't put in a garden this year ... just too much else on my plate. Hopefully your cool pics will help your grandson transition - it's really hard for some kids. He'll enjoy being so close to you and your DH though. Today was the dentist with DD16...they've referred her to the orthodontist because her bite is eroding her front teeth...there were tears. She has sensory issues with food that has her on a fairly limited diet as it is and she's worried that braces will mean not being able to eat the things she likes. She's also worried about the impact on her speech - she only graduated from speech therapy in 2020 and still has a bit of a stutter that she's very self-conscious about. We'll do the consult and see what the options are and hopefully the orthodontist can reassure her on some points. Neither dh nor I had braces and our older two didn't either so our knowledge base is limited.

Good morning Pokies! gramma - you're still in my prayers. I hope you're doing as well as can be expected and have lots of in-person support kitbop and joyfulnana - (((Hugs))) Hope things are easing for both of you I'm back to focusing on photos - I'm back to 2001 so I am making progress (started with 2019) but there still feels like SO MUCH to do. No other plans for today really beyond laundry and dishes. I'm trying a new recipe for dinner - lemon pepper chicken - and I do need to bake something with my bananas...maybe mini muffins. I got my ACOT order this week from their free shipping day but I'm trying to get through 2000 in the photos before I take some scrappy time.

knutschen , congrats on a new pink!Kitchen Aid. You will get many years of use from it. Your photos of Costa Rica are so cool. I look forward to seeing how you scrap them. I'm glad your birthday was all you wanted. By the way, I love your new avatar. You look so young and fresh. I hope you feel like that too. kellyr21 , I am impressed that you take so many classes. I'm sure you are like a sponge soaking in all that artful knowledge. How's the knitting going? Glad you got to be outside and enjoy some tennis. grammadee , I'm sure the weeding job was a big one after all the rain. Just think how thirsty those weeds/oops plants were. Your time with your DGS sounds like a busy one. I'm so glad he is doing so well in school and that he leaves with confidence. I love the idea of having him scrap his friends from that area. You are such a good gramma. I am so glad you have chosen not to have teams this quarter. I had decided I needed to bow out for a while and the new ideas will allow me to scrap when I can and not feel guilt if I don't. kitbop , your service for your Aunt sounds so much like funerals around here. Once the actual funeral is over and the very short service at the graveside, everyone returns to the church for a big meal and lots of chatting, meeting long lost cousins, etc. I usually arrive being so sad and leave feeling comfort. I hope you feel comforted. Continue to take good care of yourself. Linda , I have been watching the news about the horrid heat in your area. Are you guys doing ok? How was DD's week-long adventure? I know there was a lot of rain in the area during that time. I'm sorry about her need for braces. I know that my DH would never have lived through that, we didn't know how claustrophobic he was until he had to have that retainer. I hope she can tolerate them and that her hard work at speech therapy does her well in keeping her progress. gramma and joyfulnana , I have been thinking of you and hoping that life is getting a bit less stressful. Love you guys! justjac , I hope your wind down for the year goes well. When do you start again in the fall? Our kids have been out for over a month. The CA kids left this morning. I just hate having to share them with the other grandparents, but we really had a lot of time together. We had a big family BBQ on Sat. That's when I found out that Cousin Camp would not be just 4 children, but 4 others made arrangements to come. Our oldest DGD wanted to be here for the Tea Party with her son, little Eddie, who had a great time with the other kids. DGS(16) stayed the whole time. DGD(19) spent most of the first day with us. I had a lot of things planned and they just added in other games and things they enjoy. It was not a lot of work, but I'm exhausted! I have loads of laundry (towels, sheets, etc.) which just might wait a couple of days. It will take a while to get things put back to normal. But it was soooo much fun. It's nice to be back in my scraproom again!
