Thanks for the NightCafe tips, sleepingbooty . I will do some experimentation and I would love to see the portrait you made of Luna! Sorry, I forgot to hop back in here for the AI Halloween portrait last night. Here it is... In the spoiler, what Luna actually looks like so you can see that with some tweaking of the text input, you can get a pretty close resemblance to your own pet:

Wow, sleepingbooty, your Halloween Luna turned out wonderfully! I think my corgi should be straightforward, but I have no doubt that trying to describe my little thirteen breeds guy will take more than a few attempts.

I REALLY like this one. It would go with the last of the SEI Eerie Alley collection I have left. I do have the Halloween Tabs stamp set.

The EP Monster Mash stuff showed up and it's SO incredibly cute, I can't wait to play with it. With spooky szn beginning it's also the start of me stalking youtube videos for October Daily inspo even though I'm not even doing it this year 🤷 it still gets me in the mood lol I also grabbed the smaller holo alphas from American Crafts' Happy Halloween and I knew they'd be small but the big problem with all their photos being mock ups vs actual product means.. they're rarely what you think lol. These things are T-I-N-Y and I think the size is a detriment when it comes to the holographic part. It looks more like brushed metallic than true holo like other pieces I have. They're fine and I'll use them but not quite what I was expecting. Spoiler for alpha photo --

That's definitely not AC's holo finish for alpha Thickers. I've bought some in the past and they were definitely not this matte silver finish. I wonder if they just mixed metallic finishes for this line? I'm sorry it wasn't what you wanted.

I think my corgi should be straightforward, but I have no doubt that trying to describe my little thirteen breeds guy will take more than a few attempts. Bwahaha, it's going to be a little more work to get "the mutt" right! Is there perhaps a character in an animated movie that looks like him? That could be of help for the AI text prompt. To get the dog coat right, I suggest using a different word like something-haired because it kept putting an actual little coat or cape on my AI Luna at first.

Has anyone heard of the 3 Bed, 2 Bath, 1 Ghost movie coming to the Hallmark Channel on Oct. 7? Synopsis: A 1920's ghost refuses to leave estate agent Anna's newly listed home. Worse, the spirit is convinced she cannot "pass over" until she gets Anna back together with her ex. Starring Julie Gonzalo, Chris McNally and Madeleine Arthur. The photos (in spoiler) look like it will be kitsch & fun. Hallmark loves time travel right now and I'm here for it. Can't wait for the first sneak video!

Imagine all the cool creepy dips you could make to go with these chips. So much fun for a potluck! I didn't buy any so I can't report on taste but if they still have them in October I'll get some. Halloweeny by jo.blackford, on Flickr

@northrigg A fellow Gemma Correll fan? 😲 WHOA! *high five* It's the "exercising my demons" for me. And yes, I'm joining you on adding these to my album this year. Waiting for Brooke Bourgeois's take on Halloween this year. I'm sure she'll draw some more Disney crossovers. blemon Downloaded yesterday before the free grab expired. 👻 So lovely! Now to figure out what to do with them... joblackford How dare you? You walked away from black crisps? Won't you think of your Halloween-starved Europeans who live vicariously through you Americans? 😭 (My ghoul, served with a bowl of fresh guac with two plastic eyes. 😻) We've officially kicked off spooky szn today at Casa Booty. We were out for the day but decided to stay in tonight and start watching American Horror Story: Coven (season 3). We've got wine, (non black 😢) crisps and the electric fan on (it's still warm). I'm already quoting Madison:

My marker coloring skills are a work in progress, shall we say, but I’m trying to learn how to color these adorable spooky-cute images from Sweet November Stamps. I’m going to make quite a few changes on my next attempt but here’s my first try. First try by jo.blackford, on Flickr

I’m hoping to one day find coloring relaxing 😆 For now I get very impatient and frustrated. I’m going to try some different colors next time but I might also try using ink blending to create a softer background.

I find this a great way to have a grass background with little effort 😁

The bonus of waking up at 4:30 am (Eastern time too so the board is dead) is that I could read through this entire thread without interruption.
Last year, October was really hard for me. I didn't decorate like normal, I didn't watch any scary movies, Esther's first birthday without her had me crying for 3 days and I cleaned out her room after six months of having the door closed and not going in there. It just was a lot last year and I missed completely out on the Halloween/fall season/my favorite month.
I decided that this year, I wasn't going to allow myself to not enjoy October. So, I began planning last week what I want to do. I ordered all of Stephen King's books of short stories. I've never read any of them so I thought that would be pretty fun. I negotiated with my TV loving husband scary movie nights on Sundays and Wednesdays. I've been searching online for like the top ten scary movies so we can watch them all. I will decorate my entire house this year just as in years past. I bought tickets to see Bob Dylan. I signed up for a donut making class (5 different kinds) at our gourmet cooking school. The Michigan vs. Michigan State game is always a good time. My grandson will be 9 months by Halloween and I've already scheduled Boo at the Zoo for us. The kids always carve pumpkins so we will definitely be doing that. And I have a Halloween quilt top made that needs to be quilted together. I'm going to hand quilt it. So, I thought that would be a good project to work on during the month of October too. I just want to make a very big deal of the month this year.
I have enjoyed December Daily the past two years so I decided yesterday that I wanted to hop on board with October daily. I ordered Ali's kit yesterday and I have one of those Snap albums in my cart at ACOT. I want to pick out another scrapbook line to go with Ali's. And I've totally decided that I'm going to do something crazy that I've been totally opposed to in the past...I'm going to scrapbook *outside* the page protector!!!
Anyway, I just wanted to say that I'm pretty excited about this. I hope it's a great month for everyone. I'm going to try to make it a great month for me so Esther's birthday doesn't hit me quite so hard.

I love that for you jeremysgirl! I am going to do an October daily album next year (I’ve got too much going on this year in October as we will be moving by 10/31). What a fun october you’ve planned - the donut class sounds so good!! Last year was my first dd and one of the days/ stories was about a new tradition I started last year of buying an ornament for Hannah that was really “her.” It was fun to include her in the season by keeping an eye out for an ornament that reminded me of her and then doing a page about it. Maybe you could do something like that for Esther if you wanted. Or a page about some special birthday memories over the years, that kind of thing. Enjoy your October and your October daily! ❤️

Jeremy put lights on my tree last year but we didn't do any other decorations. Just didn't feel it. But that ornament hung front and center. I did a page in my DD about it with a pull out talking about how Esther was her chosen name. She wasn't out at the time of her death, so we've kept that under wraps but I did a bit of hidden journaling.

Can anyone share any mixed media techniques they used in their october albums?
I want to get creative with stencils and stamps but I don't have any ideas. I really don't know where to start.

Can anyone share any mixed media techniques they used in their october albums? I want to get creative with stencils and stamps but I don't have any ideas. I really don't know where to start. Mine is all cardmaking-related but... I have a stamp that's got lots of ghosts on it that I stamped with a water reactive ink after spritzing the inked stamp with water. It was a pretty cool look. I think I tried a few different ways - stamping onto wet paper, spritzing after stamping, spritzing the ink on the stamp. You can also lay down some water reactive color (distress oxides work well) either ink blending or direct to paper and then stamp with only water to lift/react some of the color. That could be fun with ghost stamps too. Black splatters. Red splatters? (normally avoided because they look like blood) One of the cardmakers I follow has a Halloween card hashtag www.instagram.com/explore/tags/amyrhalloween2023/ and probably ones for previous years too. She does a lot of die cutting but you might still get some ideas from her. She has some ghosts cut from paper that looks like vintage sheets, which I thought was very fun. This gothic rose card with black soot ink blending also caught my eye. http://instagram.com/p/CwOJ7kHRje2

Here's my second try at coloring the Spookyville horizon lines scene stamps. I like this one a lot better than the last but the grass is still not great. I realized that I need more shades of green that are closer together. I'm going to try paper piecing with patterned or colored paper too, but having a few more greens would make my markers more useful. I colored the pumpkin cat piece first and fussy cut it instead of masking and stamping. So much happier with the moon and sky on this one Second try by jo.blackford, on Flickr
