I love it!
I took some time this morning to be crafty. I watercolored an orange wash background on some watercolor paper that I will attempt to stamp a pattern on. I did a second one of thicker paint that's orange and bronze mixed together. I don't know if I'll be able to stamp on it or not. I'll use a stencil if not. I'm going to play around. I did not have the time last night that I thought I did.

Here's my second try at coloring the Spookyville horizon lines scene stamps. I like this one a lot better than the last but the grass is still not great. I realized that I need more shades of green that are closer together. I'm going to try paper piecing with patterned or colored paper too, but having a few more greens would make my markers more useful. I colored the pumpkin cat piece first and fussy cut it instead of masking and stamping. So much happier with the moon and sky on this one Second try by jo.blackford, on Flickr You make beautiful cards.

Can anyone share any mixed media techniques they used in their october albums? I want to get creative with stencils and stamps but I don't have any ideas. I really don't know where to start. Ranger has a glow-in-the-dark embossing powder that could be fun to use, I think they also have other embossing powders with fun textures. Tim Holtz also has a glow-in-the-dark grit paste, and black opaque grit paste that would be fun to play with on stencils. I was thinking of getting one of the glow-y ones to use with spider web stamps/stencils…

That looks cool! I have some glow in the dark paint. I never thought to use it in an album but I'll definitely try it. I realized I only have 2 Halloween stencils- ghosts and pumpkin faces (just faces for jackolanterns). So I'm going to buy some bats. So fun to use grit paste for them.

Today I had The Mothman Tea from my local coffee place. Earl Gray tea with vanilla and raspberry. I loved it! Something to document for October!

I love that everyone is so into the Mothman these days. WV has little good stuff going for us. It's nice to have the world's most beloved cryptid. He takes care of us.

It's really bad that my daughter works in a bakery. Caramel apple cinnamon roll. I'm in love.

I've been crafting away on October Daily. It's almost here.
I cut up the envelope from the Halloween AE kit like Pam did in her blog post. It looks pretty rad and I can't wait to put a story in it. I printed out a bat from Hey Pumpkin real big and stitched on him and made him into a pocket with the background I made from Jill's AE tutorial on the blog.
I made a circle page like the one from the black and white kit that I used last year. Super fun. I cut around the top of each circle to make a pocket and slipped in photos and journaling on them. That will be fun to do again.
I added some more layers to the rainbow stencil thing I was playing around with. I think it might need a spray of something shimmery.
I think that's it. I'll probably document some stuff before October if we do anything for Fall. I had a couple of days from last year like a parade/festival and a bike ride.
I bought the cats a witch house cat scratcher from Target (online only). It is amazing and they love it.
Anyone else getting started?

(Still don't know how to upload pictures.) I don't see any pictures. But I have an instagram account. There is a "copy link" feature. Then I just paste it here and 2peas does the rest. Would love to see your photos!

Love the owl! And the black and white striped album The IG link didn’t work for me. Not sure if you have a private account? Or some other glitch. But I see the pix you uploaded

I tried the special fall apple “croissant” at Starbucks sleepingbooty - not bad, but a little underwhelming. There are other bakery items I’d rather have (ham and cheese croissant, cheese danish). The black chips disappeared before I could buy any. I’m hoping they come back when it’s actually time for Halloween. The big box hardware store has big bags of Halloween candy for sale. Oh, and this showed up on the roof of an espresso stand down the street… Spooky season by jo.blackford, on Flickr It’s a lot less big looking on the side of a multiplex movie theater.

I haven't begun anything yet. I'm on vacation this week so I will place my order on Friday so I get the things I need to me next week. I was going to order last week but then I saw the album I wanted needed to be restocked. They told me a couple of days to restock. So it probably would have showed up this week. Did not want to risk that.
My Ali kit came last week and I just love it. I'm not a huge fan of Ali but sometimes, like the travel kits, I think she knocks it out of the park.

I'm seeing them now with whatever joblackford did. I'm using the same b&w album and I also found that October calendar online and printed it out. Your owl is fantastic!
Thanks for sharing.

This is where I found it: www.printabulls.com/calendars/october-2023-calendars/I'm not sure where she got hers. Every year I just search for October 2023 calendar and see what comes up. I cropped out the bottom box in photoshop so I'd have more room in each box in the 6X8 size.

Anyone taking Paige Evans Halloween album class for $31? I bought the Halloween kit and class from her. The kit is jam-packed and AMAZING and I really enjoyed the class. I've only watched all the videos so far...I'll work on the album in October. Paige is really a good teacher...very professional and concise. The acrylic album is SO beautiful! She decorated the front cover, but I'm going to leave it as is.

Super cute. I might go to goodwill to see if there are any halloween children's books.
