It's early, I know!
But the Fall collections are out or coming soon so I'm wondering who's going to do an October Daily this year?
I was on the fence last year but I really loved it. I did more of a Fall album than a Halloween album and I'm so happy with how it turned out.
I did 31 days in a Simple Stories teal burlap album that I've had for years.
There's some December Daily prep thrown in but the last days are on Instagram and you can scroll for the rest:
We also did that Halloween swap last year that was so great.
This year I think I'm going to stick with Simple Stories and use the black and white striped album I bought last year.

I love your layouts - so creative!
I'm not going to do October Daily (or even October Occasionally) - I just have too many scrapbooking projects on the go already. But I might take October as a time to go back and scrap some of the missing October memories from previous years (kind of like Christmas in July?)

October as a time to go back and scrap some of the missing October memories from previous years (kind of like Christmas in July?) That's a great idea. I'm going to ask my mom if she has any photos of our old Halloween costumes and add some to a spread. never too early to start thinking about halloween! Never!!

I have tried to do it TWICE. Both times I failed because either I forgot October already started and/or I forgot to take pictures. I have wanted to do it for a while because of all things, October is my birthday month and we usually go out of town somewhere. You'd think I would remember sooner than later!

But I will enjoy sharing in everyone else's excitement about it

I might join this year. I have zero desire to do a DD album again but would like to document things about autumn and Halloween. Thinking about pages I could do I came up with:
Roast the Dead coffee shop (horror movie themed) Oak Glen & yearly picnic Local farm/pumpkin patch Outdoor decorations Indoor decorations Pumpkin Carving It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Halloween night Soup season Pumpkin muffins/pancakes/desserts Football Falling Leaves/trees changing colors Halloween decorations drive around town Dogs in their Costumes Hope's first Halloween
That is 15 right there.

I did a version of October daily in my PL last year. I had a story for all 31 days and I put 6x12 inserts in with each 9x12 week so there was more space. It was fun to do that year but I wonβt do it this year. I love fall but donβt really care about Halloween anymore (since the girls grew up). Iβll just document fall things in my regular Pl weeks and use any βextraβ time to finish my DD from 2022. Looking forward to seeing other peasβ work, though!

I've only been to FL though. Thanks blemon, I put a quick wrap up in the Disney pea thread as we went this year already, we loved Disney Tokyo sooo much, and fantasy springs is set to open in the disneysea park in 2024 (frozen, Peter Pan and tangled themed area with huge new hotel to boot!) so we thought we might go back again while the kids are still sort of little. Itβs our closest Disney at 10 hours flight time π Have heaps of tips etc if you do ever think of booking a trip there. If it wasnβt for the human rights violations and volatile political climate we would consider Hong Kong Disney and Shanghai Disney, but not at the moment for sure π¬

My goal for October Daily 23 is to get out and finish my OD 2022. It's *mainly* done. I need to look it over, finishing touches, and get it into an album.

I might do October Daily. My oldest is starting college (living at home) so I wanted to document that anyway, I have two kids in fall sports, my birthday is in October, Halloween... and some other things going on around here, so there won't be a lack of things to take pictures of. It's the remembering to take notes part and doing something with them that I'll have to remember. I did December Daily in 2011 and STILL haven't finished the album, so don't expect me to finish the project in the next ten years Wait, I did a week in the life in fall of 2015? And finished that album so maybe there is hope.

This is a great list! I know last year we did a couple of things just because I was doing the book. I'm going to start a list on my desktop. I did a page last year about the candy we bought. One was about the weather -- just how windy it was. I took a photo of my shadow with my hair blowing sideways. Of course my birthday was featured too. My goal for October Daily 23 is to get out and finish my OD 2022. It's *mainly* done. I need to look it over, finishing touches, and get it into an album. Please post photos! I would love to get some new ideas. And finished that album so maybe there is hope. There is always hope. How else do we justify buying more supplies. - After looking through my album photos from last year, a couple of things I did that I want to do again were to use Halloween cards from the dollar store (2/$1.00). Some I cut up and 3x4 pockets and one I used like a little book inside the album to house a story. I also really liked using the packaging from the bag of candy I bought. I intentionally bought a bag that had a monster on it with his mouth open. That made a window so that you could see the tags I put all the photos and stuff on. - Also, I'm going to host the Foolish Mortals swap again. That was super fun. I loved using all the pieces in the album. I'll post a link here once I get it set up. I'll message everyone who participated last year too. It wasn't too much work and only mildly stressful.

My goal for this year should actually be to create a proper book cover for the one album I did. I made my own bound book but I didn't really finish the cover part. I know how to do it, there are tons of videos online, but I got stuck. I just have to start actually doing it and then figure out the problems instead of overthinking and doing nothing. Revisiting the album will be fun.

I did one of these five years ago (2018), just for Halloween week. Did 32 pages, as my son's birthday is that week and all the grands were still young enough to want to dress up. I did it in a traveler's notebook and filled all but three pages at the back of the book. It's one of my favorite books to look through.
Then I tried an October Daily in 2020, but never got it off the ground. I don't think we did much that year, with Covid and all. I did the cover and the first page, and then nothing.
I'm tempted to try again. Do we have to do the whole month, or can we just do a few weeks? Anything goes?

I'm in for October Daily this year. I've been thinking about it a lot. That's always a good starting point for mini albums/marathon projects for me. Thanks for getting us started, blemon! πΈοΈπ»π€ My stepdad has another surgery in late August. We'll know more in September re: his health issues. My parents are very seriously considering upgrading their civil partnership to an actual marriage (there are some extra legal advantages in case of death) so I'm currently emergency-planning a micro wedding for them which should take place in September (waiting for official documents to be sent in + legal delay of 10 days for banns of marriage). If all goes well and they are married in September, I'll have them pose in their wedding attire with some kooky Halloween paper masks I just ordered on AliExpress and include the portrait in my OD. I think it'd be a lovely prelude to the spooky season and I'm always happy to include one or two before-actual-October memories. The paper masks would make lovely inserts for 6x8 albums, by the way. They're 20cm high which is approximately 8in. I think they'd be extra spooky with journaling inserted into the eye holes! I'm toying around with the idea of doing vellum-backed journaling in the eyes.

Cute @sleeping booty!
I may participate but call it Fall Daily, or Fall 2023, to not limit myself. Iβd definitely be able to fill a book with 2 months, maybe even include through thanksgiving.

I'm tempted to try again. Do we have to do the whole month, or can we just do a few weeks? Anything goes? Anything goes! Do fall, do October, do Halloween, one page, a whole album. IMO whatever you're inspired to do and get done is great. Some people do an "October occasionally" album with whatever fall or spooky things that they feel like documenting. But whatever you want to call it I think I speak for everyone here that you should do what you want and share it with us π»

Do we have to do the whole month, or can we just do a few weeks? Anything goes? Last year I did 31 days but it wasn't daily by any means. I think if you're wanting to test a toe in the water you could do 13 days (I'm a numbers person). I also didn't focus on just October. Mine was more of a Fall album with the Halloween fun tucked in at the end. But I've seen people do them entirely Halloween and really go to town with the black and orange and all the trappings. So yes, anything goes! My stepdad has another surgery in late August. It sounds like you will have quite the busy Fall with that and the wedding planning. Good luck!

October Daily (or not-so-daily) is one of the most free-spirit projects out there! Mix ALL the papers, colour schemes and aesthetics you want, do as much or as little as you feel like, do every day religiously or whenever you feel like adding a spread/memory, go all out with the embellishing or go super minimalistic: it's all good and it's especially all very much accepted and loved within this niche community. I've always loved how open-minded and do-whatever-you-want the October Daily crowd is. It's not at all restrained by particular kits or products like DD can appear to be at times. Let your inner scrappy freak fly for this one! Nobody will bat (ha) an eyelash.

Not this year but if we go to Tokyo Disneyland as planned for Halloween next year then Iβm all in π That would be so fun!!
Roast the Dead coffee shop (horror movie themed) We have the cutest coffee shop that does themed drinks each year. This would be a great page.
Halloween by far is my favorite holiday! I love the colors, decorating pumpkins, trying out the newest pumpkin spice flavors, listening to my Halloween playlist, watching my favorite scary/not so scary movies, making Halloween cards for my son's teachers, seeing leaves changing, and melting over the littlest trick or treaters that come to my door. It's a non pressure holiday. I rarely dress up and I mean...the candy!
I bought a sheriff badge with my son's name on it at a store and I'm going to attach it to a western looking shirt. Costume done! He no longer fits in his 11 dress from Stranger Things he wore the last two years.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Simple Stories line and want to get some items. I'm not sure what yet.
My favorite Halloween obsessed person on Instagram has put out her 100 days of Halloween out. I think it will be fun to use a lot of these ideas as prompts. http://instagram.com/p/Cu65-rtushl I did just finish an October 2021 Fall page I'll try posting later. We came SO close to being able to tour a closed down nunnery in the canyon! Anyway, I did get a few okay photos from the road. There's stories about it being haunted. There's a real life terrifying story of what happened to some trespassing teenagers in the 1990's. I'm going to throw in a full 12x12 page in there with detailed journaling! I'm more of a just the facts ma'm kind of scrapper, so this will be different. I bought a Barbie Doll head at Dollar Tree and will probably go back for another. I'm going to make it a tree topper for my small white trees. I'll probably do some damage to her, to make it fit the Halloween theme. It's one of those Barbie Doll styling heads, but it's a lot smaller. I couldn't find a link on their site.

So for those of you interested in the rules of October Daily, here's how I broke them (or made my own):
The book starts with a cover page that just says 2022 and has a bunch of fall stickers and stuff in a circle. The next page has only the word "september".
The first layout is Sept. 18.
So whenever there is an event that has an actual date where things were done, I stamped the date on it.
If there is just something random in there (like the photos I took of my Halloween candy), there's no date.
I did 31 days cause I need numbers (mainly because I love fonts and have too many numbers in my stash).
My daughter and I just looked through it. So fun. Anything goes with these albums.
If anyone has any good youtube walkthroughs of 2022 albums or anything else, I'd love it if you'd share.
I want some new ideas.

Just stopped by for a little enabling. Color Cast Designs has adorable acrylic covers featuring bats and glitter for preorder if you want to make your own 4x4 album this year: http://instagram.com/p/CvsY9C8OS4l ETA: Also, fun fact, IKEA has released it's first ever Halloween collection of home decor. It is cute and it is called KUSTFYR.
