I'm on the fence about the hybrid product play class. If you took it, do you think it's worth it?

My DD box supposedly shipped but then nothing showed up on the tracker for 3 days. And now my box has been sitting in Wisconsin (I'm in Michigan) for two days. No predicted arrival date.

I'm on the fence about the hybrid product play class. If you took it, do you think it's worth it? I'm only on the first lesson right now, but for me, it's worth it. I have picked up several PhotoShop Elements tips from Denine Zielinski's lesson, and I like how well she organized it. I have skimmed through the other projects, and I know I will adapt a few of the ideas to fit my own needs. I'm looking forward to Jessica Luther's lesson, for example, even though I don't use Canva. I'll just do it in Elements. I don't have a Silhouette (maybe someday!) or a quill foil, so I'll pick up ideas that apply and skip the rest. With that said, I paid less than $10 for the class because I had a 20% off discount. It's now $15. The Product Play class is $25, but it looks like it offers a greater variety of ideas. It just depends on what you're looking for.

I'm on the fence about the hybrid product play class. If you took it, do you think it's worth it? I don’t. Unless you have the capability to foil, there really isn’t anything all that special. FWIW- I knew nothing, and took the first Hybrid class. I learned SOOO much! I use PSE, and much of what is going on in this hybrid product play class is sort of like paper scrapping, where as an experienced scrapper you see the final project and recreate it without instruction. I don’t foil, and have no interest in learning, or adding more crap in my scrap space, so that portion of the lessons was a waste for me. Nowhere in the class description did it mention how much of the lessons would be dedicated to that technique. All that to say, the first lesson was REALLY good, and, for me, the rest were bummers. I know how to flip out a page lol

I don't think the material is there for the class cost + the digital kit you need to purchase to do the projects. I agree. Without at least some of the digitals being included, the value is not there. I don't mean that I expect the full main kit digitals to be included, but it would have been great to include the piece of patterned paper that one contributor used to create a layered template, or the banner template that another project was based on, that kind of thing. One other petty complaint about the class - the class description said that the large plastic hearts would be one of the digital projects used in the class, and I was eager to see how they used them, but none of the contributors actually did use that product. It's almost all main kit. It makes it feel like the class wasn't project managed very well.

Completely shocked, but I received my Ali DD order. No damage, no missing items. Everything packaged nicely. I had even added the 2021 PP mini kit last minute and glad I did. Also ordered the white star album, happy with that. Super loving the specialty paper pack most of all! Good luck to everyone still waiting!

I received my order today also. Everything was there, so that was relief. I would encourage everyone to unwrap your albums, if you haven’t already. At first glance my star album seemed good enough. The top corner on the front of the album did have a crease that kind of bugged me, but I didn’t want to be overly difficult, or critical, so I had decided it was good enough, I wasn’t going to worry about it. When I unwrapped the album, and opened it up, the top 2 corners looked like they were wrapped around the album by a toddler. The best I can describe the corner is it looks like a wadded up gum wrapper. It not only really bugs me to look at, but I don’t feel like it would hold up at all. I have my last year’s album from Ali sitting on my desk, and the quality isn’t the same at all. I probably just got a bad album, but just another reminder to look everything over. I almost waited to take it out of the wrapper until I was ready to start my album, and I’m really glad I didn’t wait.

Yesterday I went through, and reorganized all of my Christmas supplies (after finishing my 2021 album they were kind of a mess, and I wanted to redo a few systems that I didn’t feel were working great for me). I got all of my new supplies from 2022 out, and organized them, and sorted them into my containers. Completed page one of my album. I love that fresh project feel!☺️❤️ Going through my Christmas pictures makes me excited for this year’s holiday season👏🏻 I will be doing this tonight! I THOUGHT I had my supplies decently organized and this morning I could NOT find that small12x12 collection of minion paper I bought forever ago to go with specific photos. Ugh. The good news is that I have less Christmas paper than I thought, so I should really buy more.

At 6:05 pm today I received my DD box. It’s “only” a full week after it shipped which is good for them to me - original expectation was Saturday and so I figured Monday at the earliest so I am very pleased to have it to play with over the weekend.
I am extremely excited to announce I received my Christmas miracle. 😂😂😂😂🎄🎄🎄 - everything accounted for and no damage! That’s pretty good since my box was so late compared to others and I ordered 23 items! Lol. Phew. Now I can just enjoy playing and planning.

Not much new to update on my order. After two days of not hearing from them, I finally heard from the customer service manager. She has contacted the warehouse to see what orders were filled and shipped around the time mine was to see if maybe we can find out who might have my order. I'm not even sure that's what happened. It's almost like someone started filling my order, got interrupted, came back and started filling someone else's order in the same box. Who knows? It's such a huge mistake that there's no way to know what actually happened. I didn't hear anything again yesterday so it's all in limbo. I'm fast losing my interest in this project which makes me sad because it's one of my favorites of the year. I'm doing my best to keep my DD excitement up and not let this ruin it for me.
They did offer me a very generous gift card for my troubles and I appreciate that.
I haven't looked at the Hybrid class yet since I have no supplies I can use until this is resolved but I'm very disappointed to read here that I have to purchase digital product for this class. I don't think I have ever taken a class from Ali that didn't include digital product for the projects. I don't foil currently so that's not of any interest to me.

I took photos of my album, and started a conversation, and this morning I had a response saying they would send me a replacement album. This was my first time dealing with their customer service, and so far it was a good experience.

Well cocoa daisy sneaks started today and I’m already pissed. It’s almost identical to last Xmas which I did not love. So glad it’s my past month with them and then I’m going rogue and using my stash.

I got my kit today from Sahin designs. It’s gorgeous. The prints are bright and on amazingly thick paper. They are perfect. Her TN is also on thick paper and the cover is textured. It’s really beautiful and nicer than a traditional TN. I haven’t used the stamp yet but it’s really pretty. And the puffy stickers are bright and not overly puffy. It’s a great kit and I’m so glad I ordered it.

So glad it’s my past month with them and then I’m going rogue and using my stash. I gave up on CD's holiday kit a couple of years ago. I already dislike the mostly blind pre-order, and then I kept finding that when the collection drops, everything I really want is an "extra" and already sold out. They have created some beautiful Christmas papers over the years, but I agree that she repeats elements a lot (Simon again?). Show us what the kits will be, order enough stock, and expand the design and she would have me back, but otherwise it's a skip for me.

That is such a bummer. Honestly I’ve stopped shopping at AE for December Daily. The hype, long boxing period, shipping issues, etc were just too much. Last year I was turned off by the bundled shipping. I only wanted $30ish worth of products and it is all the same shipping. I said forget it and haven’t looked back. I checked this year and wasn’t tempted. There are so many great options for DD without all of this hullabaloo and stress. Come over to the dark side 😁😉

I even like the bag it came in and will find a way to repurpose it. I didn't order any journaling cards from AE, and I kind of regretted not having any, but Elif Sahin's are so nice. Originally, I had planned on cutting up the TN, but I can't bear to do it. I'll have to figure out how to make it work with my chosen 6X8 album. Looking forward to using the ribbons--can't remember the last time I bought any!

lanena, my plan was to cut it up as well for my 6x8 but I’m also thinking I can’t. It’s way too pretty. I’m going to probably hoard it and try to figure out something else to use it for.

Just realized my Sahin Designs kit came today, too. It feels really luxurious and everything is so beautiful. Agree - 10/10 on the packaging! I will buy her future kits for sure based on the quality of this kit.

I haven’t gotten a Cocoa Daisy kit in a couple of years (at least). I liked the kits but I wasn’t using them fast enough and they were collecting. The last holiday one I got from Cocoa Daisy was light blue and I want to say gnomes or elves—but I think gnomes. I liked it a lot but of course never used it. I don’t remember loving it though. Overall I liked the theme-y kits and the style and colors but couldn’t justify continuing with the kits monthly.

I splurged on the physical and digital versions when I wasn't feeling well, and I was afraid I would regret it. I'm doing much better and have no regrets. The digital 12X12 papers are very usable. I am always looking for solids as backgrounds, and the kit includes those as well.

TXMary the 2 years I did DD I did not buy a kit. I just bought an album I liked in a size I wanted and used items I already had. I did buy some new goodies but no sets. I liked the freedom that gave me as well as not being like everyone else using x kit. Heck last year I used an album not meant for Christmas but liked the color. I altered the inside with paper to give it a Christmas feel. Maybe you could do that. Just buy items that loom fun and spark creativity and then go from there. To me that was part if the freeing experience of it all. Letting go of standards.
