Love Ali’s video showing her table of contents/reason why/opening page. I really enjoyed it, too. It inspired me so much that I had a cart full of December Daily supplies ready to be checked out when I remembered I'm creating a 6x8 December album during the SCT Holiday event in November. Not gonna lie, I was disappointed not to hit "Pay Now" on that Ali Edwards order! I can't really justify buying it all when I'll have a fully completed album next month.

marg that event looks interesting! Have you attended before? I am curious how you feel about the product/classes being = to the cost of the event. I would not be able to attend live, but I do love Jen Forrester and the other sessions look interesting..... I personally think their events are a great value. This will be my first Holiday event, but I've done the scrapbooking and the cardmaking ones several times. The Holiday one works out to be about $37 per class - that's in Canadian dollars, which is amazing for Canada. It's $24ish per class USD. You get a ton of product, way more than we use in class - usually it's full collections, plus extras like stencil-drying trays, paper pouncers, scissors - it's a lot of stuff. A few times I've had personal stuff come up for the event weekends (family emergencies), so in those cases I finished the classes over the course of the next year. That was great, too. The cardmaking event is awesome, too - it works out to $23 CDN/$22 USD per class. There are rarely classes I don't like or cards I won't use - even if it's not my style, I can usually think of someone who will like it, plus I'll have learned techniques. The packing list for the event box this year was 2.5 pages long, iirc. The scrapbooking event works out to $35 CAD/$31 USD per class, plus bonus classes. The only caveat for the scrapbooking event is that there are a variety of projects - mini albums, 12x12 layouts, and Project Life spreads. I don't make the mini albums, I just use the product for something else, its an entire collection usually, so that's easy enough. I don't do PL anymore so I just incorporate those spreads into my 12x12 album, they're the same size pages anyway and it's nice to see something different. I can't emphasize enough just how much stuff you get. It's so much fun to open that box!! The community spirit is great, there are a ton of prizes (I won an entire collection from Simple Stories last year), and Catherine, the owner, does a really good job overall. Edited to add: I don't usually make the mini albums for these events, but I'm for sure making the December Daily album with Jess Forster - I love her style, and I love DD, so it's a win win win. It's a 6x8 album using the Simple Stories Boho Christmas collection.

So I just took my 2 new Ali E DD albums out of their plastic packaging and I can see the issues that others have mentioned. I compared both to prior year albums, and it looks like they measured the inside paper that lines the albums shorter this year and that is why you can see the rougher looking, bunched up gathering of the outside cover paper on the inside corners. Does not look great. If you look at last year and other past years, the inside lining paper is definitely covering more on all sides so that you only see just a little bit of the outside cover where as on the new ones I am seeing a good quarter of an inch. I also see a folder line between the spine and the covers on both albums this year which was not as visible in past years on both of my new albums - I got the green floral and the white star.
Otherwise, both albums are functional and there are no blemishes on the outside of the covers. To me this is a quality control issue and I plan to share the feedback so that they are aware that is may be something that impacted a large portion of the inventory and I would assume they would want correct this issue for next year.

I have a bit of a bubble on the top left side of the spine. It almost seems like there wasn’t enough glue used. My inside corners are fine.

Well cocoa daisy sneaks started today and I’m already pissed. It’s almost identical to last Xmas which I did not love. So glad it’s my past month with them and then I’m going rogue and using my stash. What’s it look like? I went to look at the site and the blog but they weren’t posted yet. I haven’t gotten a Cocoa Daisy kit in a couple of years (at least). I liked the kits but I wasn’t using them fast enough and they were collecting. The last holiday one I got from Cocoa Daisy was light blue and I want to say gnomes or elves—but I think gnomes. I liked it a lot but of course never used it. I don’t remember loving it though. Overall I liked the theme-y kits and the style and colors but couldn’t justify continuing with the kits monthly. It’s more bright and cutesy which I didn’t mind last year. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it. So seeing it again was a bummer. I had already decided to cancel my 5 year long obsession with them starting January so maybe that’s what has me frosty. But there was a recent customer service issue tgAt completely rubbed ne wrong so I said girl bye. With a new puppy, another bout of midlife crisis with the husband, and regular life stuff, I haven’t scrapped in months so I have months of kits stacking up. I recently redid my scrap space and organized everything and realized I really want to focus on using the product I love, get some projects finished, and save some money because I have way too much. Lol

Ugh, I keep the shrink wrap on my albums until I’m ready to put the pages in, but I guess I should unwrap mine now and check it out to make sure any issues aren’t too bad (I got white album with the stars).

Ok, I'm on Jennie's lesson now in Product Play. I have really never realized I could buy gold vinyl for my silhouette. Yeah, I know: cave dweller.
I did get one photoshop tip from Denine but otherwise, I did not need that lesson. It was basically a photoshop lesson as she isn't really doing anything with the digitals. You could pretty much make that page with the physical products and that was not what I was expecting from this class. She did a great job but I really didn't learn anything new. If you're new to photoshop, it might be your thing. But I think there might be other actual photoshop classes you could buy.
Back to Jennie. I love her accent and could listen to her all day. I learned more from her Prep Day class last year (I think that's what it was) than I had in a long time.
But anyway, what brand of vinyl should I get? I like to buy from ACOT. Also, what is the brand of transfer paper you would recommend.
I honestly thought all foil had to be done with minc and I'm not buying a new machine.
I love the idea of adding some gold touches to my DD that aren't just things I have to buy.

I got a lot out of Denine's lesson, but maybe that's because I've been using PhotoShop Elements for only three years. I like how she adapted the numbered paper for a 6X8. There was a similar paper for the Week in the Life digital main kit, and I ended up not using that one because I couldn't figure out how to change the edges. Also, I know how to mask, but I don't think I've ever masked inside shapes like in the ornament paper. I do love Jennie, but I was feeling kind of bummed out because I don't have a Silhouette. I'm glad I have the lesson, though, because I'm saving up to buy one, and I know I'll be hunting tutorials. Watching the Jessica Luther video. I'm a little lost with the Canva directions. I used Canva at one time but found that Elements gave me more options. Just trying to get ideas for pages. I only paid $9.60 for this class, though, and I was going to buy the digital main kit anyway, so I'm ok with it.

And I can imagine that if you knew how to use the vinyl, you would not appreciate that in depth of a tutorial there. I've been using photoshop for over 20 years so I knew all that. I've never used Canva and I don't see the point because I'm already paying for photoshop. But I haven't watched the rest of the lessons yet. I'm trying to keep an open mind. I think I paid the same. I used the coupon on top of the bundle sale. I'm looking forward to the one with the tree and the embroidery! It looks really pretty.

Oracle vinyl is really the best, IMHO. Get it at Michaels. For transfer paper, I use just plain, regular clear contact paper. Cheaper than transfer paper and works IMHO better.

I like the Siser brand of pressure sensitive vinyl, it weeds beautifully compared to the Cricut brand. You can buy it by the sheet or by the roll at Michaels. There is a glitter gold PSV too. Just make sure you get PSV (pressure sensitive vinyl) not HTV (heat transfer vinyl).

I got my shipping email for my Heidi Swapp order finally. Shipping information isn’t available yet, but it’s a start. I ordered a new stadium organizer to organize my Christmas supplies, and I’m super anxious to get it, and set it all up. I really love organizing, especially fun new products!

I am using the green background bokeh tree acetate from 2022 with a green fabric star from 2020ish stuck on top with gold “23” number stickers in the middle of the star. And that’s it 😄

I really love organizing, especially fun new products! That's really the best part. Organizing is so fun. Has anyone figured out their title page yet? I haven't started to think about it yet. I like what Ali did with the Merry and Bright. I might do that. It's really different and I have a new Christmas mix that I got from Etsy that will be perfect. I'm not sure how my sewing machine will like stitching through two sheets of acetate. I might back it with a nice vellum instead. It won't slip around as much that way. I'm excited for prep day. Also excited to be done with October Daily so I can start to play with the Christmas supplies. I do not like putting away stuff but I do like setting it up. On the Hybrid workshop: I watched the canva lesson yesterday and oof. Not my jam. Again, what is new about that? That's why I'm disappointed. There is a canva class. I wanted to see people do interesting new things with the digitals (I think Jennie did that). But I do not want photoshop or canva lessons. So far they have been too long. I don't want to watch someone use the computer. Just say I did this, this, and this. If you want a tutorial, those are elsewhere. Hopefully the last couple of lessons will be a little better. Like, they aren't even resizing things. A couple of color changes, that's it. I know it was like $2 a lesson but I was hoping for something outside the box.

TXMary the 2 years I did DD I did not buy a kit. I just bought an album I liked in a size I wanted and used items I already had. I did buy some new goodies but no sets. I liked the freedom that gave me as well as not being like everyone else using x kit. Heck last year I used an album not meant for Christmas but liked the color. I altered the inside with paper to give it a Christmas feel. Maybe you could do that. Just buy items that loom fun and spark creativity and then go from there. To me that was part if the freeing experience of it all. Letting go of standards. I have done it that way in the past and I have plenty of product I can use. I heard from them again and they are now telling me to keep everything I received, including the items that I didn't order and they are working towards getting me the items I did order that I didn't get. Not sure if everything will make it here since there are several sold out items but there are currently orders created for all the items. They have also sent me a very generous gift card for my troubles. It was definitely a huge error on someone's part but I will say that I have been very happy with the customer service side. They have gone above and beyond in trying to make it right. I do wish Ali would change the way she does the DD ordering. It's just a PITA for everyone.

I just watched Ali’s process video for her Reason Why and title pages, it was really good! I appreciate that she showed changing her mind, making a mistake and how she fixed it. When she was pulling product to see options, she had a painted deli paper that she ended up not using just yet. I had to smile because it very much resembled 49&Market’s artistic style. I bought their collection to mix with hers, so it will be fun to see how she mixes it all in.

I haven’t got my Heidi order but it’s on its way (supposed to arrive today)! I love distressed look paper -what else did you get? I order the paper pack, a washi, the tag set, and two sets of the clear big labels. I loved those SO much and felt I might hoard them so I figured if I bought a 2nd set I could hoard one and use the other lo! They were only 3.99 each so I feel fine about it. After the giant Bundle it was the first thing to sell out so I’m glad I got 2. I thought Heidi’s embellishment prices were very reasonable. Oh, I got the Christmas gift pocket tag things, too.

The pricing seemed very reasonable, which is why I pulled the trigger although I needed nothing else. Other than the paper pack, I also bought the gift pocket tags and the trees with the little windows. Love the tags, they are perfect for journaling spots. I can’t remember the idea I had about using the trees… they’re pretty big, like 5x7 ish and the windows are small. The journaling could only be a few words. Maybe I’ll do a “favorite things” page. I hope you love the colors as much as I do! The pink is great, really soft and pretty.

Great news! Dollar Tree has its xmas wrap in.
There is an incredible Nightmare Before Christmas paper. It's the most amazing I've ever seen. It's got a red background with line drawings of the characters and they are just white.
There is a good Elf one and a Grinch one.
Finally I bought one with lots of ornaments on it that reminds me of the AE ornaments from this year's kit.
Run to Dollar Tree!

Having a lovely DD morning. I’m working on my day 25 page from 2022 (using my new stuff from Heidi) and watching a playlist of Ali’s DD pages from 2021 as they are new to me since last year was my first DD year.

I bought the 2021 Paislee Press mini kit during the $10 kit sale. It arrived today and is SO nice. It came in a green zip envelope and seems to have more in it than the 2023 kit. It’s still listed on the site for $10 (original price $27.99)and is such a good deal.
