Coming out of lurk mode to report I finally figured out the foil/print/cut of Jennie Rey's ornament. If you decide to attempt, be sure and use the download of the entire prep day package. When I downloaded just hour 7, there were files missing. I didn't have any instructions in my download but I figured it out. You only need the Silhouette files, they are layered, you'll need to separate the layers as you do each item. What I learned about foiling: 1. The medium size tip works best. 2. Be sure to change the settings to sketch vs cut! 3. Make sure the carrier for the foil tip is firmly in place. I thought mine was shimmying a bit so I secured it with a bit of washi tape to be sure. 4. Make sure you are in a good mood before beginning. It took me a good chunk of the weekend to figure out all the steps and correct every little problem as I went through the process. It required a lot of patience! I'm going to practice my newly learned skills on some other digital files. Fingers crossed. Happy to answer any questions if you have them! Thank you for the tips! I'm getting a Silhouette Portrait for Christmas, and I'm excited about trying out some of Jennie's techniques.

One last thing, when you do the printed part of the pocket, be sure and move both layers further down the page. If the washi you use to secure the foil is too close to the registration marks, the scanner on the machine won’t read them. I also suggest having extra foil in reserve

I started day 10 today. So far I’m doing a pretty good job keeping up but I can feel myself slowly doing less and less each day.
This morning I journaled using voice chatting to my notes app while walking on the treadmill. I need to do this more. There was zero punctuation but it got my ideas down quickly.
Plans for tomorrow are a little bit more journaling. Then hopefully Wednesday I can put together my pages for days 10/11/12. After that I’m not sure what stories I’m doing for this week. I was working a couple days ahead but now I’m just on time and probably need a couple filler stories.

I am done thru day 5 I think. Nothing complicated, but getting it done little by little.

Probably need to order some more of that before I start.

mom I blew through the little bit of foil that came in the foil quill kit and then ordered more of the We R foil. I feel like the one I ordered separately worked better than the sample gold foil.

What are Christmas markets like down under? I'm guessing no piping hot mulled wine or roasted chestnuts? Definitely not It's a very old fashioned market with stalls selling plants for the garden as well as plants in giftable pots, soaps, home baked cakes and chutneys and honey, fresh fruit and veg, knitted baby layettes and booties and toys, home sewn tote bags and children's clothes, and handmade wooden toys. It's the kind of market I remember as a kid so it's quite nostalgic.

Last night, we watched Round and Round, Hallmark's 2023 Hanukkah movie, and it's a very strong recommendation. This is one of their best movies of this Countdown, hands down. I didn't want this one to end. It's a very well-done time loop story. If you enjoyed Palm Springs with Andy Samberg or have a D&D nerd in your household, you simply must see it.

I skipped Haul out the Holly 2 and Biltmore Christmas last night because I needed a good old hallmark movie. I went with My Norwegian Holiday and it DID NOT disappoint. It was really good and I was sobbing at times. So so good.
I just wanted fluff and it was more than that.
I did not like Haul out the Holly 1 (could not suspend my disbelief on how weird the parents were acting, is what I remember). And I just didn't have it in me for Biltmore as it seems like a "real movie" (no offense hallmark but I did not have the bandwidth for a period drama although I am really excited to watch it).
I wanna tell you I was skeptical on the dude's accent in the commercial for it because I thought it sounded fake ('cause everyone I've met from Norway or the Netherlands speaks better English than most people I know in the States so I was not believing it). But that was not the case and it was so good.
December Daily progress:
Day 4, waiting on the kid to do her journaling as it's a story about here. Day 5 was about my nephew in Elf. Simple pocket page. Day 6 is my ephemera page so a work in progress as I collect trash throughout the month and stick it down. Day 7 is done -- on putting up the Christmas lights. I'm working on Day 8 -- using the tree page from Ali's product play for a story about the band concert. I had a lot left to do for that and did the pounding of eyelets last night. Chose a photo, have a plan. Will construct today.
So story about the Christmas lights. I'm doing the table of contents with the circle tags with gold numbers and gold edging. Loving it. For each day I have a sticker or whatnot representing the story of that day. Searched high and low for some sort of light bulb sticker. Anything. Had 1 sticker left from that October Afternoon December kit they did like one year. ONE sticker. So I ended up cutting the "all is bright" from a chipboard piece that had more words on it and put the lightbulb sticker above it.
So then I'm pulling out paper for Day 8 and what do I see on the back of a scrap is a perfect string of lights. That's how it's going. Everything is just more difficult than normal for this year.
Next year I'm going to do more actual foundation pages so I'll have cute homes for my stories ready to go. I have too many filler pages because that's what I was feeling at the time. It's biting me.
That's all.
Very very busy right now.

Alright, hopefully I can get back to crafting. Ended up in the ER twice with horrific back and abdomen pain. First ER (local, small) was like it's your fibroids. Pain got worse and I was like no...this is not fibroids.
Went to larger trauma 1 hospital and they ran all kinds of tests including angiography (born with a CHD) and come to find out it is a kidney infection and UTI. Yay. Not.
The pain has been really bad. Feeling a little better today so hope to craft. Have to take it easy.

I went through some horrible neck pain a couple of months ago, and I couldn't do much other than watch SB videos and place online orders. I'm glad you're feeling better and hope you continue to heal. I also hope crafting takes your mind off the pain. janamke , I'm so sorry you're going through family stuff. We are, too, and it makes me so sad. We lost my father-in-law in October, and my husband's family is going through a lot of estate nonsense. The grief is bringing up some trauma. My son passed away in 2016, and it feels like everyone outside of our small family circle has forgotten. If I didn't have this hobby, I would have an even tougher time getting through the holidays. Just a reminder that December isn't always jolly...but our creativity is a blessing.

That's awful. I'm so glad you got it figured out before it got too bad -- and that it's treatable. I hope the antibiotics kick in soon.

December 9: FOLIAGE
As the year ends and the days finally start to grow longer again, our relationship to nature hums softly in the background of all the festivities, visually represented through our collective love for Christmas trees, poinsettias and wreaths of pine and berries. Today, we celebrate this special link to all things December flora.
Story prompt | "50 shades of green" Document all things foliage inside and outside the home. Take your camera on a different kind of nature walk: photograph and write captions for all the greenery around you, from the town square Christmas tree to the florist where you're picking up a Christmas bouquet and the feathery friends picking away at the birdseed ornaments hung from the tree branches in your garden. Soak it all up and create a special nature log to celebrate the season.
Creative prompt | Make a monochromatic page to emphasise today's theme. Go all green or choose a complementary shade like red or pink to make your photos pop!
Song of the day *paging my fellow OTH girls*:

I can't imagine the pain of going through the holidays without your child. Feeling a little better today so hope to craft. Have to take it easy. Oh no! That is definitely the uninvited guest you didn't want to shop at your door. Wishing you an easy and quick recovery. Let yourself rest and get better. Your health comes first! I skipped Haul out the Holly 2 and Biltmore Christmas last night because I needed a good old hallmark movie. I went with My Norwegian Holiday and it DID NOT disappoint. It was really good and I was sobbing at times. So so good. Ah, My Norwegian Holiday is a good one, isn't it? Sentimental and funny, a combo rarely well done but Hallmark nailed it with this one. I'm so glad you liked it. When he comes running, limping, through the forest... *deep sigh* Here are a few more pages Very pretty! I especially love that neon light effect for your title on the Christmas Carol page.

I'm still living a pretty un-festive December so far but things are about to change. This week, I'm getting my Covid-19 booster, picking up a couple of gifts from my local bookstore, possibly finding the time to make a little detour to go to Starbucks for my first holiday drink of the season, mailing 2 parcels and delivering the Christmas gift boxes I've prepared for a non-profit that hands out everyday necessities to homeless people. They're collecting giftwrapped boxes with something to read, something to keep warm, something to keep clean and something sweet. Just finished putting mine together and wrapping them tonight. Every small thing feels like a victory. So, Christmas is finally taking shape for me. I'm starting to feel the mood, crossing a few things off my list and making sure I'm protected + protective of everyone around me for the holidays. Slowly but surely getting there!

PSA: If anyone wants either Snow Bride, the Hallmark Christmas classic (2013), or Snowed Inn Christmas (2017) featuring the magical pairing that is Bethany Joy Lenz and Andrew Walker, send me a direct message in the next 24h. Both are on my all-time fave list.

I did not like Haul out the Holly 1 (could not suspend my disbelief on how weird the parents were acting, is what I remember). That was my biggest issue with that movie too! It was so OTT and weird. IIRC they put away Christmas decorations after they found out their daughter was coming and they could skedaddle, like, why take down the tree you've already had up? and their "acting" was so clownish.

We haven't talked jello molds in ages, so here's a horrifying recipe for a cranberry strawberry jello monstrosity made with Miracle Whip. Not Cool Whip, which is stabilized fake whipped cream, but Miracle Whip, the tangy mayonnaise. Served with more mayo on the side. WHY? Was this a mistake that got passed along? Judging by the look on That Midwestern Mom's face, yes. A big mistake. I laughed and laughed. http://instagram.com/p/C0vHukXME0v

I have yet to make any entries into my Christmas album. Recovery from the shunt on Halloween has been painful. I’ve ended up in the ER twice, once last Wednesday because I was doubled over in pain and still trying to direct cars at carpool. I just haven’t been feeling any Christmas joy. I now have another surgery scheduled for Monday in hopes of repositioning the end of the shunt in my abdomen to where it won’t cause pain. Imagine you’ve been running and have the worst cramp/stitch in your side. It’s like that but breathing can trigger it. I’ve got three days of school left before vacation begins. I’m doing everything I can to just survive the next three days. Maybe I’ll feel more Christmasy when I don’t have school to worry about. I don’t know.
I was so excited to get my first AE album. Now…I don’t know. Anxiety and pain are sucking all my good spirits. Has anyone gone half the month without doing anything but still finished it? I’ve been writing things down and keeping notes. I know I’ll have enough to do the album…just wondering if I’ll have the mojo. I halfway believe when they put the shunt in my brain, it took out my creative part.

We haven't talked jello molds in ages For good reason! That was my biggest issue with that movie too! It was so OTT and weird. IIRC they put away Christmas decorations after they found out their daughter was coming and they could skedaddle, like, why take down the tree you've already had up? and their "acting" was so clownish. Yes! So weird. My friend said I could skip Haul II but that it's better than the first. US peeps, this is on Frndly if you have it. Just do a search. I'll watch it again. I really liked that one. Could not find Snowed Inn Christmas. Has anyone gone half the month without doing anything but still finished it? Yes, lots of people. December is really busy for most people. And remember there are no rules. Don't have 25 stories? Do what you have? Don't have any photos yet, take them when you're feeling better. If you look at what Ali's done so far this year there are already a couple of stories that don't even have photos, just lists or feelings. Just start taking notes when you're up to it. Many people finish in July (Christmas in July) or later in the year (done by December). And someone just yesterday in this group just finished her 2022 like this week. Do what you can and what is fun for you. If it's not going to happen, don't force it and save the stuff for next year. Paper doesn't go bad.

lilacgal sorry you are in so much pain, that sounds miserable! Hopefully you can get some peace and joy back very soon! sleepingbooty I loved A Biltmore Christmas, definitely more of a "real" movie than my usual Christmas horrors but really good. I've done bits and pieces in my album but lots more interactive pages than usual. I'm going to have so much leftover after going a bit crazy with Elle's Studio pieces as well as Paige Evans' collection!

I only did like 6-7 stories in December last year and finished it by Nov 1st this year. This year I am in a similar boat. I had such plans but I’m completely wiped out- work is kicking my butt. I’m too tired to even focus on stories but I’ll have some things and make it work like I did this year.
