I am not much into the Hallmark movies, but I did watch Round and Round because I love time loop movies and I am also Jewish (although I do Christmas for the vibes). It was okay, but I have to say it was very stereotypical and kind of mocking of Jewish people with the stereotypes... I feel like that wouldn't fly for some other minority groups. So wasn't super thrilled with that as a Jew from New York. I'm sorry to hear this. I thought it was actually pretty light on anything Hanukkah or Jewish, personally. Nothing in it was mocking te Jewish culture, I feel. The writer for Round and Round is Tamar Laddy, a Jewish writer from New Jersey. I feel like I've seen significantly harsher takes on cultural stereotypes in other current Christmas productions (grinding my teeth through Netflix's I Hate Christmas, the Italian adaptation of the Norwegian Home for Christmas series) but I could be wrong. If it's any consolation, the French were portrayed almost exclusively as grumpy, tourist-hating, prankster, shin-kicking people (no, seriously, the poor male American lead kept getting kicked in the shins by French children in this one) in Hallmark's Joyeux Noël. Thank the Hallmark gods these two Americans managed to laugh through it all and even make 2 French people fall in love! USA, Europe's eternal savour. If it helps, the reviewer for NPR really enjoyed it. And amateur critic Howard for Film who's usually pretty unforgiving actually praised that Laddy "[steered] clear of creating stereotypically Jewish characters." ( x) Decider also raves about it. I know this won't change how you personally feel about it but it's been greatly received overall and not at the expense of Jewish people. I did it! I finally started my Christmas album! I managed to get three pages done before I had to get ready for DH’s work Christmas party. I did remember to get a photo in front of the tree there too. I decided to forgo matching events to day numbers. My first photo didn’t happen until the 8th but it felt good to start off right away with it being out of order. I’ve never done it like that. I’m just going to date the pictures. That little detail has me all fine with being out of order. Phew! Yay! You've really been through it this year so I commend you for even attempting this big project. Many of us are either not finished by January or simply begin the actual creative work in the new year. Fear not! I'm glad you got the first photo down and I hope you'll slowly but surely feel your scrappy brain awaken and sparkle with creativity again. You got this! Our town has the best Krampus troupe. Spoiler alert: Team Naughty vs Team Nice ended in a draw. Everybody wins. STAHP. You live in the funnest Christmas area, I swear. All these original and cool things happening. The jealousy over here is real. Invite me next year? For the Hallmark and Dog loving peas here: Aawww! I'm thinking I'll pick up some extras from the Echo Park Christmas Time collections, seems like it will go well with the stuff I have. Shoutout to sleepingbooty for putting together the thread will all the Christmas collections, it's been a real timesaver. Oh no about your impulse purchases not working out but yay for finding "your" collection in the end! I hope buying some of the line you love the most will help you back on track with your documenting. It's so annoying when you spend your time trying to make something work as though it were an impossible puzzle. I wasn't going to do a DD this year.... but I may have enough from prior years... and I think I still have the bug!!! Yes, you want to do another DD. Yes, yes, yes! I'm like a week behind in stories and I need to go back and fill in with the easy ones (books, Hallmark, etc) but you guys I GOT A DISHWASHER YESTERDAY and it'll probably be my top story of the month Christmas gift from my mom because I haven't had a working one in like 5 or 6 years. Congratulations to you! That's a big gift. You definitely made the nice list this year. Wishing you all the fun no longer having to do the soapy business by hand. (And no longer having nail polish prematurely chip on you because of it. #nodishwasherlife) Dishember Daily, amirite? *ba dum tss* PS: I assume you've attempted to calibrate your oven for the low temperature issue? There's a creator on IG who looks at knitting on TV and assesses whether the actor has ever picked up needles before in their life. She would've judged this movie harshly >.< Link me up, por favor! I need to laugh along. Day 11 is done and took me 2 hours! I love it though and so far it is my favorite page. It's beautiful! I love that you created a little Christmas tree forest for your own to sit in wit this page. Day 12was about festive cocktails at the local apple orchard. Where do all of you live to have such fun events happening in December? I searched high and low in my nook of the world and it's only children's events or Christmas markets. Thankfully, we can get mulled wine at those but still, I'd love festive cocktails at an orchard... *bottom lip quivers*

sleepingbooty this was the first time for any of the doses I had very mild symptoms. I received Moderna's again (last year was my first with them due to Pfizer allergy). Anyways light chills for about 2 hours, sore clavicle and shoulder for a day then a few days later rhe swollen lymph nodes. Still have those so if they haven't gone down by start of January, I will get u/s again. Previously I would have high fevers, body aches and chills, upset stomach, bone pain, etc. Yikes, that's not pretty. I'm glad you've had an easier go at it this time around. I hope your lymph nodes quickly go back to normal. I only had the terrible headache. Could-not-focus-on-simple-tasks terrible. I just stayed in bed with the curtains drawn and slept most of the time. I'm not a migraine sufferer so when something like this happens, it's a big surprise. But nothing else? Not even the slightest bit of fever per my SO who took my temperature several times through the day/night, arm completely ok as though nothing happened. So weird. But oh well, it's over now. Let's see in six months' time where the next booster takes me...

I wish I could link to the judging knitting on TV/film account sleepingbooty but it was one of those ones that IG a suggested to me for a while but I never followed and now can’t find. I have no idea what tags she used but I don’t think IG cares about us finding things for ourselves any more. Does anyone else know this series of reels? Sorry to hear you had a bad time with the vaxx. We got Moderna this time, I believe.

Our town has the best Krampus troupe. Spoiler alert: Team Naughty vs Team Nice ended in a draw. Everybody wins. I saw your photos on Instagram and this event looked amazing. The Cabazon Dinosaur Christmas Lights did not disappoint! So lucky!! I had to take a day off work. Has anyone else felt it roughly with the latest one (monovalent Omicron XBB.1.5 from Pfizer, I believe)? I've never had such a bad case of the vaccine headache and it lasted over 24h. My symptoms were pretty much the same as with the others. I'm pretty sure I got the same one as you because it was Pfizer. My arm hurt a little longer than normal -- and did for the flu shot as well. So annoying. On Christmas Eve, we're planning on watching "It's A Wonderful Knife" and I'm pretty excited about that movie... anyone else watch that here? As far as reading, I just started a holiday romance last night "A Winter in New York" and I'm also working on a Christmas themed puzzle, so really trying to soak up all the feels. This year hasn't felt super festive, between drama with my daughter (just went through a break-up, she's been sick, she didn't do well first semester at college, etc.) and lots of work stress, but I'm focusing on finding small joys and keeping up with this project is itself bringing cheer to my season. I've been following your pages on Instagram. Nice and clean, really lovely and so much fun. I'm really disappointed to hear that review of Round and Round. Hallmark did such an amazing job with their Jewish-themed movie last year. I am Jewish but wasn't raised with that religion so I only got to experience it through events my relatives hosted but I feel very connected to it and my daughter has been going to Hebrew school and learning the language. It was so great for us to watch the movie together last year. Very disappointing it will be a different experience. Sorry to hear about your daughter. The first semester is super rough for every single Freshman. She is not alone. As a college advisor, I hear from so many of my students who really struggled with their first semester, even the ones who were close to home. It's a huge transition. I hope she hangs in there and goes back in January knowing that she made it through. The other thing is that students worry that their GPA first semester will hurt them for grad schools and that's not always the case. Grad programs do look at the overall GPA but they also look at the trajectory of student progress. They expect that the first year will be difficult and want to see progress and improvement as the classes get more difficult toward senior year. I can't tell you how many students I helped get a new schedule for Spring because they need to repeat something from the Fall. And grades haven't even come out yet. Next week I will be busy for sure. It's overcast today but I think it's bright enough for me to take some photos of days 4 - 12. Then on to story 13.

December 11: CATCH-UP 1
You know how it goes... This is your first of three opportunities to catch up on your December documenting, whether you're an in-real-time creator or simply taking notes and photos. Take a look at everything you've gathered so far from pics to collected memorabilia. Is there anything out of order? Journaling that needs getting done? Maybe a pattern paper or embellishment you've been meaning to find to tell a specific story? This is the right time to get to it.

Dashing through the prompts... 🐎🛷
December 12: LETTER
In a season of photos and holiday cards, today's focus centres on words. Whether it's writing a love note for each person being a shining light in your life this month, penning a longer missive, flex your verbal muscle today.
Story prompt | "Dear December" We're now at the halfway mark to Christmas and this month many of us dedicate a full album to has started to take shape. Did everything go according to plan? Did you encounter hiccups? Can you find ways to celebrate and dedicate a direct address to the last month of the year?
Creative prompt | Dig through your numbers and come up with a bunch of number 12 to mark the occasion: stamped, embossed, chipboard, stickers, written with a calligraphy pen, etc. Create a dramatic contrast between your written words and the number of the month and/or day for some visual playfulness.

Thank you! I wouldn't totally write off the movie based on my review, it seems like there were mixed reviews elsewhere from what sleepingbooty shared. I think the main characters were good and the plot was good, it was the side characters that were very stereotypical. My boyfriend who is Jewish from Long Island, so much more immersed in the culture than I am, was the first to make a comment, but I definitely felt it as well. I suppose they are stereotypes for a reason, but they made all the older/side characters the same jewish stereotype of loud, meddling, sneaky... For my daughter, I am hoping that is the case and things turn around. The big concern though is her scholarship, she has a tuition scholarship, but it requires her to pass 30 credits per year. She failed a class, so she only will have 13 completed credits after first semester. So she is going to have to pick up a few extras next semester, but if she doesn't complete the 30 credits she will lose her scholarship which is a lot of money. She could make up the difference if she moved back home, but I don't think that is an ideal situation for many reasons.

Well, I finally go started on my album. I found an older album in my stash, not sure who made it but it's cloth with large silver sequin star on the front. I managed to complete my title page and days 1-5 so I'm happy with that. That first page was a struggle! Just happy to have things moving along now.

I've ordered my first batch of photos for DD and went with a more expensive printer that I really like.
I don't mind starting on the crafty part of the album in early January as I have the first week of the year off. And then another week off later that month. Finally, some decent rest!
Hallmark PSA: Sealed With a List is really decent. It's an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story set entirely in the city with a female fashion designer lead who isn't running around in heels or has perfect shiny, long hair. And she has a 70-year-old roommate. Definitely worth a watch. 'Tis no Biltmore Christmas but I really enjoyed having this play in the background as we prepared dinner and looked up a lot to watch the interactions between the characters.

I managed to complete my title page and days 1-5 so I'm happy with that. That first page was a struggle! Just happy to have things moving along now. Congratulations! Five days done when you only just started is a lot. I'm super impressed. And your album sounds beautiful with the sequin star. Is it by chance the Pink Paislee one (four rings)? If so, beautiful treasure in your stash. It's timeless and elegant. I posted some layouts to instagram Oh, I love how you played with those stripes: horizontal green in the photos versus vertical red with the ribbon. Speaks to my crafty heart! That gigantic number 11 though... *swoon* ETA: Anthropologie USA still has the Christmas in Paris mug available online (and discounted). Thought of your kiddo when I saw it. Only downside of this series of mugs is that the gold does start rubbing off over time even with handwashing. 'Tis the way of Hallmark, lasteve1 . Apologies to your boyfriend but there are essentially two kinds of Hallmark families: absent or meddling way beyond what's socially acceptable. The rare movies that have "moderate" families are on the quieter side of things. Alas, meddling family/community members is a typical holiday rom-com trope. You're just kind of stuck with the fact that there's only one Hanukkah movie a year displaying Jewish families/communities. Your chances are pretty high that you'll end up with a meddling, overly protective/involved family just like any other minority movie they might offer during Countdown to Christmas. They tend to make these very energetic and bursting with "personalities" whether it's Jewish, Korean, Italian, etc. I understand that with such a limited sample, you can feel like it's too much. I bet if there were more Hanukkah movies per Countdown season, you'd see more variation. Alas. I hope everything sorts out for your daughter in the second semester. It's a big change in lifestyle and study style. It sounds like you've found someone in blemon who can clear up some things for her scholarship. Best of luck to her for the second half of the academic year! Just enjoy the holidays together and don't dwell too much on the ex/the grades during the Christmas break. She probably needs some reassurance and comfort as she decompresses in a familiar place. Being a teen/young adult is hard (and so is being their parent, I'm told). Days 6 (IgG day) and 14 (ds' ornament) are done! Headed to a local farm in a bit to hang out before the rain hits then will be home to craft some more. Dd and I are going to build the gingerbread house today too. Rain in California? My oh my. Have loads of fun building that gingerbread house! Your daughter is going to need to ice some bows on the windows to make it on trend. (So glad Toby's cancer is currently stable, by the way. It must be quite the relief and feel like an early Christmas gift.)

Ugh. Day 17 and 18 and probably tomorrow are going to be us in the hospital with my 4 year old (rsv breathing issues). I want to just document it with a single photo (close up me holding his hand and his tablet showing Sesame Street) and journaling. But not sure how to do numbers. I usually follow AE with different types of numbers for each day.
Would it be too much to show all three numbers 17, 18, 19? Or weird if it's the only page listed as 17-19?
He's napping, so I'm distracting myself catching up on the thread and hitting some notes down. Trying not to lose my Christmas cheer.

Oh no, mrsloafbot! Poor little fella. I hope they can sort his breathing issues very quickly and you can all be together at home again, snuggling and getting back into the Christmas groove. I really wouldn't mind seeing 17-19 but you could also do a vertically stacked 17 / 18 /19 sequence if you'd like something a little more graphic and want the "complete" set of numbers for these days. Maybe a 3x8 insert for the stacked numbers with the journaling about the hospital stay on the back? That way, your photos take centre stage and you don't have to dwell to much on the difficult emotions and painful anecdote? Big hugs from far away. Fingers crossed he's on the mend and ready to head home real soon.

I'm sorry you have to deal with this on top of everything else this season brings. For numbers what immediately came to mind was the words typed out in a simple font (like times), not the numbers, write them out. seventeen eighteen nineteen all lowercase. You can print them on the photo or just white cardstock cut into strips. Stack them on top of each other on a part of the photo where there is some plain space.

Currently working on day 18. I took white paper and stamped dog images at the bottom, then colored them in with Ohuhu alcohol markers and used some Stickles. Waiting for that to dry before I splatter the page with shimmer spray in post box red and fresh cut grass green.

I took a few minutes today to go through my supplies and make a list of what I really want to use in the album this year. I pulled out any embellishments I want to use and put them in a little pile.
Paper doesn't go bad but I want to use the ornament pockets and papers from AE this year. No hoarding. I also wanted that Nutcracker so bad but I have no idea how to use him. Hopefully Ali will use him soon so I'll get an idea.
No much longer now. I finished up Days 14 and 15. Kept it simple. Used stuff that I had already gotten ready last month.
Off to watch some Hallmark.

Does summer courses count for current scholarship year? Yes, they do, but the scholarship won't pay for summer tuition. So she'd have to pay out of pocket to cover those credits, which is still cheaper than losing the scholarship altogether, but is still very pricey. I have the NYC in the city one and it's my favorite Christmas mug, so beautiful and nicely sized. (Although it's right handed, grrrr. I know I can just flip it the other way, and I do, but the way the pattern is printed, it expects you to be a right handed drinker rather than from either side.) Your chances are pretty high that you'll end up with a meddling, overly protective/involved family just like any other minority movie they might offer during Countdown to Christmas. They tend to make these very energetic and bursting with "personalities" whether it's Jewish, Korean, Italian, etc. I understand that with such a limited sample, you can feel like it's too much. I bet if there were more Hanukkah movies per Countdown season, you'd see more variation. This is a good point, but it wasn't just the family... it was a random lady in a shop, etc. Then the other side characters who were not family members were normal and they made clear they weren't jewish. Would it be too much to show all three numbers 17, 18, 19? Or weird if it's the only page listed as 17-19? I hope your son feels better! I documented days 26 - 28 like this in 2021. I don't normally go past 25, but we had a weekend of celebration and I just wanted a quick nod. I don't know if I have it posted on my instagram, but it'll be at the very end of my flip through video for 2021 on my youtube: www.youtube.com/lindalovescreating. Sorry for no direct link, I am on a work computer that can't access youtube.

So this year will mark a total fail of December Daily for me until now, didn‘t feel so much festive and have been soooo tired all month long. Thankfully I only have to work 5 days before Christmas eve and did the majority of groceries shopping yesterday. I even got my tree yesterday, although it wasn’t my preferred nobilis fir tree, i had to go with a nordmann fir, to which I‘m allergic. But I thought, that is one of my 12 stories I was aiming to tell this year. 2023 was a rough year for me, because I’m the care person of my 85 year old mom and she fell off her wheel chair around easter, which resulted in many medical appointments and eventually in a knee surgery to replace her knee in august, everything went fine in medical ways, but since she is back home in October, her muscles are still reduced and she is constantly falling and struggling with her life of her own in her own flat. I want to make everything as smooth and manageable as possible but it stresses my to my own body and mind, so much I didn’t go to any Christmas market visits or anything December related. I have only 10 photos, no notes and only 3 stories in my mind . Thankfully I will have 16 days off work starting on Sunday, so l get a full 12 days off Christmas and i hope to get in the Christmas spirit then. My Plans for my 12 Stories of December so far: Story 1: I did an personalized advent calendar for my mother, which has brightened her days since Story 2: a letter to December, where i will jot down my thoughts of the year so far and my hope to get a little rest at the end of the year. Story 3: Grocery Shopping and Menue planning Story4: our Christmas tree. Story 5: I’m sooo tired. Story 6: Music Story 7: Movies (I started 3 wishes for Cinderella at the beginning of December, but haven’t finished yet) Story 8: Maybe Color? Or Decorating ? Story 9: Christmas Eve Story 10: Christmas Day Story 11 Maybe a to do list? Story 12 Silvester festivities
Oh we had a little snow at the beginning of December, that I had photographed and could also be a story.
Additional maybe stories: our Christmas lights event in our local zoo will be until 7th of January, so maybe l will go there in the next 2 weeks. I like the interview sheets from the kids digital kit and will force my family to answer them on Christmas Day.
What I won’t manage to squeeze into is holiday baking, a visit to the city advent in the Überwasser Kirche in my hometown. And now I‘m feeling much better as I was writing this to this board, because I was thinking about it and was calming down a little bit. Thanks for letting me rumble about my December so far.

Just checked out my album and yup its a PP one, you're good sleepingbooty ! No more progress on my pages but 2 more stories to add...broken dishwasher, my dh called it a "catastrophic failure" and a flat tire on my suv that is now seeing us buy new tires right before Christmas. Also found out that my company didn't get the contract in my area so my staff is getting a layoff in 3 months and I'm out of a job in 7 months. Not quite what I had in mind 😖 I've already applied for 2 jobs. Working hard on not letting it get to me but it's not easy.

My Plans for my 12 Stories of December so far: Sounds like you have a start! And a lot going on. I know I'm going to have to start helping aging parents soon. It's certainly not easy. Working hard on not letting it get to me but it's not easy. What a rough time for you too! I think something must be going around. Everyone needs to do a bah humbug page. So I’m going to need all the details about cheesemas. Tried to sneak it past me as photo three but my cheese loving nose sniffed it out… 😂 Ok, here's the deal. Cheesemas (short for the 12 Days of Cheesemas) is an advent calendar you do with friends. You need to find 5 people who are as crazy as you (for a total of 6). Each of you will buy 2 cheeses (enough for a taste, or about 2 oz. per person, so about 12 oz. total per cheese). You will pair each cheese with something: crackers, nuts and dried fruit, a tiny bottle of whiskey, biscotti, coffee, chocolate, whatever it pairs well with. The cheese master (I just made that up, that is me) will give each person numbers for their cheeses -- softer cheeses first, harder cheeses last. Then you all get together in early December and exchange. Everyone wraps up their cheeses in festive packaging (taking care to keep the cheese in airtight). People can do this very simply or take it to the next level. So at the very least a brown paper bag with a number on it. Inside you would include a note about what kind of cheese it is and what you're pairing it with. This year so far we've had: cream cheese, ritz crackers, quince spread pimento cheese spread and 2 slices of white bread stinky yummy camembert with some crackers cheddar with biscotti an early grey infused cheese with some olive oil crackers that had anise in them and covered with sugar In the past: ritz crackers and a can of spray cheese hickory farms cheese ball with their crackers brie with an apple I'll post some pics to instagram. This is our 4th year and it is so much fun. http://instagram.com/p/C1Cg4qluywZ

My printer updated its firmware and now won’t show up on my phone. Arg! I’m trying to figure out how to fix it, but it’s not helping my mojo. I’m frustrated by so many things right now. I just want to scream. Trying to watch hallmark movies and find some cheer. I love seeing y’all’s pages and updates. I’m glad you’re making progress. 🙂
