To perhaps stop derailing another thread, anyone with questions or comments or just general chatter, please post here. If this thread becomes too large (like the old ACNH), we'll start a new one. Currently, you can play DLV on multiple platforms, but there is a 35% off sale until 1:59am CDT on 9/28. I believe the only way to purchase is download, so they are all digital purchases. For the game with no whistles (Nintendo Switch), it's currently $20.99, Deluxe is $49.99 (No discount apparently!), and Ultimate Edition is $45.49. Clearly they are pushing the Ultimate, which is the edition I purchased. The biggest perk of getting the Ultimate Edition are the 20,000 Moonstones. Moonstones are an in game currency that you can also use real money on. You can acquire Moonstones in game multiple ways, but getting a huge chunk up front will help if you plan to do the Star Path quests**. You also receive "exclusive" items, etc. **Star Path Quests are seasonal quests that are tiered. You complete the tasks (separate from your daily tasks) and acquire a form of currency for that season. ie: it's currently lollipops for Halloween. By having the Moonstones up front, you can get all of those tiers unlocked up front, then compete the tasks and replenish your Moonstones. naby64 ^.^

I just started playing a month or so ago. Number one tip: Do NOT time travel. I had TT for ACNH and set it back and messed up Dreamlight. I decided to start over rather than hope it would fix itself.
I am through the main storyline just working on characters and decorating. My favorite thing is to see what is in the shop each day. I didn’t buy a fountain early on and now I am waiting for it to come back.
ETA. I bought the basic package and have yet to spend moonstones. I am thinking of getting the Ursula bundle.

Thank you dawnnikol!! I had pondered all day starting a new thread but knowing I was leaving next week and unable to really play or update anything, I kept stalling. I will say, I did go ahead and buy the Ultimate edition. I got it downloaded and the Switched on console to charge and played a bit before bed. All I really did was get rid of some night thorns. I sent a text to my son telling him to not buy it, he would be bored. While we were talking today, he said he knew that but he also knew he wouldn't just be getting rid of night thorns. That he would have quests to do. AND he loves Disney so that was another enticement. So I think he is going to get it for the PS and play ahead of me. I just don't have a lot of down time at the moment. But I'll get it some here and there. Now let's talk Moonstones. With buying the Ultimate, I should have those moonstones. However, as I get them from the thorns, the balance is not $20,000 plus what I'm finding. Are they somewhere else that I don't see them? Nvr mind, I found them! I was also warned there would be a bit of a tutoral/walk through at the beginning before too many other things happened. So I guess I am there. Thanks for the tip on TT. I was told it would not be an option nor a good thing to do.

Hi! Thanks for starting this thread. I missed the ACNH chatter.
I got the basic version early this year (so not at the very beginning but close). I wasn't missing anything until I started participating in the weekly challenge and seeing what others are using.
any way... My Valley is just as messy as my ACNH island. I'm working on it.
Is everyone keeping their house in the original position? Just curious. I have mine in the original position but changed the look to a castle.

I have discovered I suck at fishing with Goofy as much as I did in ACNH... It's sad.

Come on you guys! quit being a bad influence on me! I'm still loving Dinkum so do I *need* a new game?? Do I *want* a new game? And are you saying that if I time travel in Animal Crossing it will mess up my Dreamlight Valley? I haven't played AC in awhile with time travel so I'm not sure why that should stop me, lol... But I did enjoy TT when I did it.

I have been playing for a while and then stopped. I have to start playing, again now that there are new characters to discover. My focus needs to be decorating my valley. I went to town on ACNH and really need to do so here. I'll start playing again. I enjoyed the ACNH group. It was fun to share items and play together.

Can we share and visit in Dreamlight Valley also? That was always the best part of ACNH. I remember there was someone who would leave bags of bells hidden here and there. I had so much fun randomly coming across them, so I started leaving them on other people's islands. Even when we didn't really need bells it was fun...like a treasure hunt or buried treasure.

As of now you can't share and visit, but I'd read a long time ago that once the game was out of the beta mode that you would be able to do so. Take my words w/a grain of salt. It's a fun game, but just like ACNH you can only do so much and then it's the same thing over and over, again. Still fun game.

I've been playing for many months on the Xbox because it was free with the game pass. I like the game, but the slow rollout is frustrating. I will play for a few weeks, and then leave it until the next update because there is nothing new to do. Decorating is not my jam in games or real life. I did find it to have a bit of a learning curve and I had to play for a week or so before I decided I liked it ok. I've also started Hello Kitty on Apple Arcade and I LOVE it. It is very similar to ACNH and just so darn cute. I play on my laptop with my xbox controller.

Is everyone keeping their house in the original position? Just curious. I have mine in the original position but changed the look to a castle. I left mine where it was. I have expanded it (that was kind of frustrating) though. That Tower of Terror look is so tempting.. I have discovered I suck at fishing with Goofy as much as I did in ACNH... It's sad. At least you don't scare the fish off in DLV, like you do in ACNH. My kids were the ones to notice that the different colored bubbles meant better fish. :X And are you saying that if I time travel in Animal Crossing it will mess up my Dreamlight Valley? You can still TT in ACNH, just don't open DLV while you're messing with the times. I have been playing for a while and then stopped. I have to start playing, again now that there are new characters to discover. That's what I do, too. Right now I'm working on Belle & Beast. The Star Path keeps me coming back, too. When I run out of those quests, I usually call it. I remember there was someone who would leave bags of bells hidden here and there. I had so much fun randomly coming across them, so I started leaving them on other people's islands. Even when we didn't really need bells it was fun...like a treasure hunt or buried treasure. That was redbusc. Man, I miss our ACNH peaps. As of now you can't share and visit, but I'd read a long time ago that once the game was out of the beta mode that you would be able to do so. Take my words w/a grain of salt. It's a fun game, but just like ACNH you can only do so much and then it's the same thing over and over, again. Still fun game. Yep, I've read/heard that, too. I did find it to have a bit of a learning curve and I had to play for a week or so before I decided I liked it ok. I swap between DLV, ACNH, and Mario. When I log into one of them, it's like I've forgotten everything because I start picking up things I don't want to or swapping between tools. My kids get a kick out of it.

But, but, but… I didn’t hide the bells. I just flat out dropped where I wanted to. (I have thought about picking up the switch to see how many spiders I need to smoosh though and get in the villagers good graces again.) Thank you for the tag! I miss you all! I have not even started ddv. I downloaded a game called puzzles & survival to my iPad and have been playing it over a year. (Shhh, there are more great peeps in the world besides here…). If anybody else plays this game, please tag me! While quite different than ACNH I am indeed addicted to pns. Loved catching up on our old thread and here, thank you! Happy fall y’all!

Welp, I've been at this game since October last year and I'm somehow hanging in there despite not being into virtual decorating much. Just a note on the physical release: there is one coming. Physical format comes out on October 20 and it's been one chaotic discussion among DDV players because it'll be called the Cozy Edition and come with 2 exclusive items (Cheshire Cat sweater + racoon companion). It's not cumulative so you can't get these exclusives if you've already been playing. Some folks are pissed. Cozy Edition releases in the US for 49.99 with 14,500 moonstones and a cottage style overlay for the player's house. How are spoilers handled in this thread? It looks like most 2PR players may not have completely caught up yet with most characters. *eats another berry salad*

In just about every single game I've played like this, they'll make an item like this and if there's enough fuss, they'll go "oops, sorry, here ya go". I am not worried about the items, but I definitely would like to see my Scrooge's fixed at some point. Hopefully prior to celebrating Disney's 125th anniversary.

I initially bought a download version of ACNH and what I didn’t like about it was that (I believe) anyone else picking up my Switch couldn’t have their own character profile and play independently. I ended up getting a refund for the digital version and bought a hard copy instead for that reason. Do you think the Cozy Edition is more in line with the middle of the road digital or the ultimate? I’m most inclined to get the ultimate version if I do buy the download version. Decisions, decisions!

Long story - but short version is I’m turning DDs old room to a craft room/tv/game room for me lol.
I have a PS4 and this is on my radar!
So the question is - Deluxe or Ultimate, or wait until month end when I will finally have time to play and get the hard copy version?
something about digital download is so weird to me - I like owning the disc lol!

So the question is - Deluxe or Ultimate, or wait until month end when I will finally have time to play and get the hard copy version? Okay, so right now you can get the Deluxe for $49.99US or Ultimate for $69.99US. The main difference (to me) is either getting 14,500 Moonstones or 20K Moonstones. Moonstones are an in game currency that you mostly get during Star Paths. You can also purchase Moonstones in packs in game for real money: 1200 for $9, 2500 for $17, 5500 for $35 or 14,500 for $90. They can be redeemed to unlock things on the Star Path (items, outfits, etc) or to purchase fancy things like changing your house to be The Haunted Mansion. I opted for the Ultimate (digital) and I just make sure to complete the Star Paths to load up on my moonstones. The only extra thing I purchased was unlocking Ursula's extra quests so she could be human. You could totally go with the lower cost option, but if you have the $15, I'd go that route. As for digital vs physical - I hear you. I am a CD girl living in a digital world. I will say that not having to worry about scratches is nice though. Another downside is not being able to sell it, even for a couple bucks, down the road to GameStop. Then again, I brought them a game a few months ago and they wouldn't even take it because they had so many. LOL! Congrats on the craft and gaming room though!!!
