I don’t have enough stuff to set a scene for dream snaps. Re-order stuff that fits the theme through Scrooge when you can. Dreamsnaps roll out each Wednesday, so you have a week. Voting also gives you 50 Moonstones max each week.

OMG amazing! I'm nowhere near that level of being able to do shit like that! LOL Aww, that's so kind! But I feel like this kind of shot is very achievable. Just toy around with the time of day and the placement of your setting in your valley so you have the right background and poof, done. Absolutely! It's also one of the only ways I'm able to obtain new clothes since my Scrooge's part that's missing is all the clothing and accessories. :X Did you buy everything out or did Scrooge just stop offering clothing? My Scrooge's has been empty of clothes for a long time but I know that's due to having bought everything available up (and considering this a decorating + outfit game, there wasn't that much, I feel). I miss the early days of the game when we'd have fashion outfits in the shop windows! But oh my, Belle's winter outfit is coming. So, so excited! Anybody else having to remind themselves not to touch the night torns before the update? Whenever I log in, I'm so tempted to get rid of them but have so far managed to stop myself before too much damage was done. Bring on the Star Path so I can get to the pesky night thorn challenge already.

Oh I didn't realize we weren't supposed to be removing them! I still have oodles everywhere though. I googled how to get coins quickly - and discovered if I take a mining friend and make the rounds once, including the mine in Sunlit - I can sell all the gems for a good 15K or so....and I've leveled Elsa up to 10 by doing it lol. Next friend up for that is Scar lol. It maybe takes 15 minutes? But the coin return has been worth it

I don’t have enough stuff to set a scene for dream snaps. What dawnnikol said, just go back into Scrooge's and order furniture from him directly. Just make sure to check if it's a decor or outfit challenge beforehand and what type/theme of decor is required to meet the requirements. If it's an outfit challenge, forget about the decor fitting the themes, it's your actual outfit that has to meet the criteria! Some people get stuck on this when they first start dreamsnapping. Getting a dreamsnap logged in - even if it's nothing special or poorly done - will automatically mean 300 moonstones at least when the week's over and you get your results in the mail. That adds up so quickly!

Hang on to your gems for challenges and quests, however. That's my advice, especially early on. Fishing with a buddy and going for the red + blue circles will also yield nice results to earn coins. But pumpkins is the way to go. And they grow faster in their own biome (Forgotten Lands). The night thorns have been a challenge in every Star Path so far, I believe. It's so easy to finish up the challenge when you've left them untouched for several days before the start of the Star Path. ETA: I just saw on the previous page in the thread that you were building your storage, cakediva. Did you know you can expand your house and add rooms (main floor + new floors)? Most DDV players have rooms set up for storage. Just rows and rows of chests. Since you are a master baker, you may have a lot of fun building a kitchen in your DDV home. And guess what? The fridges act as storage, too! You can literally store your Chez Rémy purchases like cheese and butter in there.

The only Biome I don't have open yet so far is Forgotten Lands, so maybe that's when pumpkins come? I haven't had them show up yet. I do have a second home though - I have the one the game gives you at the start, but I also have the Cozy Cottage freebie - and it has 3 rooms off the main room. So I have one set up as a kitchen, and that's where I keep all my food storage boxes. SO great so far! I have opened the secret room in teh castle - and needed to clear out my backpack so I can take all the items in there! ETA - I do have a storage chest full of gems already - I was stashing them in there. So I'm working on a round of "build money" and then a round of "build the stash"....

Like really toddler style. My ODS is talking to me about all the reasons I need to upgrade to the Samsung 9+ tablet as opposed to the 9FE tablet or even the 8. I have the A8 tablet but want a real S-Pen and palm rejection so I can write better and my head is spinning. The game does not need to do that to my brain.

I know we mentioned this before and hoped for it, but I am listening to Serroh on YT and he is reading the Dec 5 Patch Notes on DV. Whatever he is reading said Multi Player game mode will be in the update!! Game update or the purchase of Time Rift expansion I haven't figured it out yet.

Ok - so I'm new to the game - I purchased the Cozy Edition when it came out. The only Biome I don't have open yet so far is Forgotten Lands, so maybe that's when pumpkins come? I haven't had them show up yet. Ah yes, once you unlock the Forgotten Lands, the pumpkin harvest bonanza will be all yours! And you're lucky enough that you won't have to endure many months of those darn burning fires in this biome. I was so, so tired of them and super happy when we got the update that allowed to get rid of them (and get the absolutely darling pumpkin house). You're about to have some real fun! I need someone to toddler explain DreamSnaps to me. DreamSnaps are a weekly challenge that consist of snapping a photo. Each week alternates between decor and outfit challenges. The challenge has a theme and specific requirements. You will need to meet the requirements for either the decor in the nook of your valley you're photographing or for the outfit you're wearing. These requirements are item themes/types you can select in the furniture and wardrobe menu to make it easier to navigate which qualify and which don't. If you look at these menus, you'll notice there are themes/types you can select like "Traditional" or "Halloween". Give it a test! When you submit your photo for that week's DreamSnaps challenge (and you can change it until the deadline - fear not, just submit a new DreamSnap and the previous one will be erased), it's entered into the competition. Each week, you get to vote on the DreamSnaps the community has provided for the previous week's challenge. You get 50 moonstones when you meet the voting threshold (it won't take long for this at all). You vote by picking your favourite of two snaps the DDV algorithm has pitted against each other. Then, based on your ranking when voting is over, you'll get mail telling you how you scored, where exactly you ranked and how many extra moonstones you've received. The minimum amount of moonstones is 300. You're guaranteed this as long as you've logged an entry. The higher you place (it's by top X% until you get to the very highest scoring ones), the more moonstones you earn. It's not unusual to earn 2500 to 4000 on average once you get the hang of it. Several elements come into play to make a pleasant dreamsnap and you'll figure out your style and preferences as you submit week after week. Some people just submit a "nonsense" entry that meets the requirements to get 300 moonstones when they're busy/feeling uninspired. The week's DreamSnaps challenge is revealed on Wednesdays. You also receive last week's voting results on that day. Your mailbox will contain a letter and the moonstones + Pixel Dust + extra items. These bonus items are in a chest in your inventory. You'll need to select the chest so it opens to see which items you've received. Pixel Dust is DDV's third kind of currency (coins and moonstones being the other two). It allows you to get more furniture, clothing and moonstones as you progress and accumulate it. As you can tell, DreamSnaps are essential to continue building your valley and your item collection. If you aren't at ease with the game's photo mode yet, I suggest you start playing around with it. Pose your character in different ways, not just in selfie mode. Figure out which mode allows you to move around your character so it can be shown from the back (for a romantic cliché overlooking the ocean or out of a window, for ex.). Try out different companions so you see the different ways your character looks when using the adorable companion mode. It's super fun! Hope this helps!

Thank you, it does sleepingbooty! I just don't understand the Vanellopi(sp) quest. It asks for a photo with her, I think, which I have taken. But this is the point I don't know how to share. It throws up a QR code and when I use my phone I don't think it is taking me where it should take me. All that makes sense right? So I guess I need to watch a YT on her quest. That I have not done.

The QR code is an option to share the photo with people you know. Vanellope is teaching you how to use the photo mode. Have you actually met the requirements for the photo? The tags of the items/furniture (I can't quite remember what it was)? This should validate the photo (and help you figure out how DreamSnaps work with the tags for clothing or furniture). As soon as you've taken a photo with the right items, you should unlock her house and place it in your valley. That's the key.

How is one able to buy the rift in time? I bought the add-on for ACNH but I forgot how I did that. Do I really need to ask DS for help?

I bought the add-on for ACNH but I forgot how I did that. Do I really need to ask DS for help? It's not available yet. The release is at 9AM EST, so I imagine it should pop up then. It *should* just be an easy pop into the Nintendo store and purchase, then wait for the download.

I'm listening to a live stream of the update. I started late and it started maybe 30 minutes before I got on. So she's just running around doing things before the update. AND the inside of her house is gorgeous!! It is all comfy and Christmasy!! I can't wait to get things decorated.
I also can't wait to re-design my valley. I need to move things and acquire things. AND of course I left my Switch at home!! What?!?! I will have my DH bring it up later. The new boss has classes on Tuesday evenings about an hour and a half away. So he shoots out of here around 1:30. This is a dead week for me, sort of. So there may be play this afternoon.

I'm not home from work yet but I did sneak onto Steam to buy the expansion as soon as they emailed me about A Rift in Time being available. Could not help myself! I'm so excited about Eternity Isle. The monkeys, the jungle vibes, Rapunzel! But I still need to travel back home, help with dinner (ugh, it's cannelloni and that means a lot of time spent stuffing, zut alors), eat dinner and spend a little quality time with my SO before I go down this brand new rabbit hole. The help of the ancient machines will be greatly appreciated. I know that once I unlocked the drones in Slime Rancher, I had more time to explore and enjoy the storyline. Bring on the new level of Dreamlight Valley! And merry early Christmas to everyone who's treated themselves to the expansion already.

So here is a good explanation of the multi-player function of the game. Just a couple of things I gleaned from it while I was half listening. Folks can pick up items you have dropped. You can block a player if you have had a bad interaction with them. You have to have Vanellope(sp) to get the transporter machine. Think Star Trek. Guess I need to get my area set up and take a picture so I can get her permanently here. As long as the portal is open, people can come over. You can exchange resources. There is more I just wasn't able to listen. I will have to watch again. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfHn5-_ch8I

dawnnikol Did you get anything new clothing-wise at Scrooge's with the update? I noticed I had a long-ish pleated skirt in three different colours and a few accessories (including the super cool rose eye patch). But nothing again today. That was it. I've only had about 2.5h in the game since yesterday's expansion launch so I'm not far along with either the Star Path or A Rift in Time but I love the weird vibes from Eternity Isle. Don't love that Scrooge's is exactly the same as in the Valley but like that you can just hop in your home and find all your indoors storage wherever you are. The snowman raccoon companion from the Star Path is delightfully bizarre! And please send help for this week's DreamSnaps theme. Denim, really? Yet another outfit challenge that will require a dreamy décor to fetch a ranking worth 4000 moonstones. Give. Us. More. Clothes.

I did get the new knee length skirts and today nothing. >.< I just have to laugh. I am glad we still use gold coins to open wells and stalls though! Present Dawn is thanking Past Dawn for her pumpkin farming! Gaston has been my favorite interaction though. He's *so* Gaston and it makes me laugh. We've met him at DW and just fantastic.

I have just depleted all my dreamlight and opened my last biome. Yay! I love Fairy Godmother lol.
I've accidentally happened upon 3 of the dolls for bringing Jack in - hopefully I'll have more time to play this weekend.
My goal right now is to upgrade Ursula & Ariel so I can bring in Eric!
