I’m opening the first day tomorrow! I’ve got the Spellbinders Advent calendar - my first scrappy calendar. Anyone else doing it too?

Me too, doing the Spellbinders Advent calendar.
I remember watching the spoilers when it first came out months ago and now I can't remember what was in each day!
Super excited to see what everyone makes each day. I'll be out of town this weekend, so won't be able to do anything with it until next week.

Are you folks doing the stitching one that only has 12 days? I'm guessing not, but I could be wrong! I've got the stitching one and it only has 12 days so I'll be waiting to start opening it until later in the month. If you folks have a different calendar, I'll be watching along with you. If it's the stitching one I'll just bypass this thread for, well let's see, 12 days!  |

Yes, I came here to see if anyone else opened it. I resisted and waited until today for day 1. I had to go online to figure out what one thing was used for. Then I learned there is a picture on the flap of the compartment - duh.
Can't wait to use the things!

I’ve been tempted to get one, but there are too many things that I wouldn’t use. I like to have specific dies or stamps, so the advent wouldn’t be worth it to me. Have fun opening yours though. A lot of people love them.

I am doing the Spellbinders one, too. I also got the stitching one, but I opened it early so that I could use the dies to make some cards for this year. I figured if I waited to open it until now, I would lose my mojo to get stitching.

I save my photos in a folder in Pinterest, and when I want to post a photo on here, I simply click on the photo, right click on the photo, and then click Copy Image Address. Come back here, click on the photo icon (when you hover over it it says Insert Image). Then paste the URL you just copied from Pinterest into the Image URL and hit Insert Image. That's it! |

jjpeapea I love that! And that's so great that you used your Day 1 dies already! I've enjoyed seeing Day 1. I got the calendar last year but not this year. I really enjoyed it last year, I found that Spellbinders showing a project with the die every day really made it fun, it was something to look forward to when I woke up. This year I got the Ali Edwards Advent Calendar. I'm trying a different one every year, so far I've done TE, Spellbinders, and now AE. Next year I may do the Stitchmas one from Spellbinders, not sure.

MDscrapaholic, Thanks for the directions. Part of the problem in the past is I don't have a Pinterest account and other things I've tried haven't worked too well. I watched videos for both the full Spellbinders and Crafters Companion's advent calendars, neither really impressed me but Spellbinders was by far the better value of the two - more dies, sets of stencils vs one, no cheap ephemera, etc. My problem with AC's is that rarely do I look at the day's surprise and go "yes that was worth 1/25th of the cost". Worse, (and both of these are a 'me' problem that doesn't have any real solution) 95% of the things that get picked are stuff I wouldn't buy anyways. I question the usefulness of many of the inclusions - stencils that are small and cut close to the edge, which would make them hard to use. Very small embossing folders, generic holiday theme stamps/words. If someone was new to this hobby I think an advent calendar would be a much easier sell.
I am pleased to see more variety in the offerings thematically this year and not just holiday stuff. Now if they'd just put more effort into the contents and less on the pretty packaging!

This is my first year with the spellbinders advent calendar. I love opening one each day but it’s so hard to not just open them all!
I liked day 1 and 2, not so much for today’s though
