Thanks for all the eye candy ladies! I've been doing lots of elves with names. LOTS... like more than 75! I don't care if I see another elf for a very long time... BUT I'm sure I'll have a few last minute requests this year. DH turned 50 last Tuesday and called me at work to let me know that he called 911 on himself because he had something weird happen (wasn't sure if it was a seizure or stroke) and wanted to get checked out. 48 hours in 2 different ER's (we were transferred) and the melanoma from his armpit has decided to take up residence in his brain. He has 3 "small" tumors. Tomorrow we are headed to get a CT scan and the hopefully he'll get a mega dose of radiation later this week which will kill it. Then follow up with immune therapy. Needless to say we've been a bit nuts here for the last week. My kids are home on Christmas break and I still have this week to go but will likely miss 2 of the 5 days because of DH's appts. I for sure have a sub tomorrow and I'm thinking probably Thursday or Friday to get the radiation done. So, yeah- thank you for the eye candy distraction! ❤️ Oh my goodness. I just want to give you a big hug. I'll keep all of you in my prayers. ❤️ I'm so sorry.

Two craft rooms I have and I still prefer the dining room table. Haha... Isn't that the way it always goes! I have a great sewing room and yet the island in the kitchen is typically covered in cutting mats and fabrics. DH used to grumble but has finally accepted his fate. My dh asks all the time if our island will ever be clear. It’s currently covered in acrylics and mini canvasses and enameled moons to finish up for gifts. I have my own room too but there’s no water source or a vent for when I solder & anneal things.

Crocheters, I have a question. I know im popping in out of nowhere, but I hope that’s ok! 😁 Anyhow, I’m very much a simple crocheter who googles when she has questions but unfortunately I must be googling this wrong, so here I am. I am finishing up a blanket in Corner to Corner in rows. The rows are all zig zig (photo below) and I have no idea at all how to make a row that gets them all even at the end. I assume it it something like a slip stitch followed by a SC, followed by a Dc, then SC, then SS, and on and on. Could someone point me to directions on what to do, or what to ask for when I Google? Videos and/or photos are super helpful for me. Thank you x 100!

Looking at the photo think I would try ss at the top point, then sc, hdc, dc (in the “valley), hdc, sc and see if it brings everything to the right height. Hope your recoveries are going well!

Thank you (on both points) finsup ❤️ I realized I didn’t really give you any hints on what to Google. I’d try searching for videos on how to do a straight edge on a chevron or ripple blanket. Although you’ve pretty much already sussed it out on your own. 😊

Those tin toppers are beautiful leeny! seaexplore, damn that is certainly not the news anyone wants. I'm pleased to hear he is paying attention, and hopefully the early find will be taken care of thoroughly and quickly.

I finally made it to my sister’s and played with paint! I practiced dotting for like 5 minutes and she said I was ready to go so off I went and started my first rock. So.much.fun. Definitely have a new hobby, and all the supplies to do it with as she gifted them to me for an early Christmas present The first one took forever and wow…so many errors and spacing and sizing issues…but I don’t care I still love it! I love the color combo, though it was a bit of a PITA as it involved making gradient paint colors by using gold instead of white. And then having to recreate those colors when I ran out. And trying to make the second batch match the first. But I love the effect and will definitely use it frequently. Resized_Resized_20231220_211652_1703204756660_1703204758520 by Carie (Dewryce) T, on Flickr And it had design work on the sides which I touched so very many times while it was wet and smeared. The mica in the gold gets everywhere! Black micron pens are the bomb to fix mistakes. You can see them here, but they won’t show once I apply the varnish. And because I had a different starting stencil, so I had to make up some spacing as I went along. But overall, it was much easier and only took over an hour. You can find a million scrap room tours, but I can’t find a single photo of a dotter’s workspace.

So pretty dewryce! I hope we see them varnished too, please. Maybe you could be a trailblazing dotter and upload your workspace?!

So pretty dewryce ! I hope we see them varnished too, please. Maybe you could be a trailblazing dotter and upload your workspace?! Thank you! I think I have to right? For the good of dotters everywhere! Even during the videos they are zoomed in so much to help you see the detail of what they’re doing you can’s even usually see the paint palette. I’m going to try and take better photos once they’re varnished, in natural lighting. eta: I just remembered I snapped my table when I set up for my first home session to send to my sister. 72471181317__77CCFF43-A772-4764-92FD-AD89E468D242 by Carie (Dewryce) T, on Flickr But I need to know how and where they store their paints, varnishes, other mediums, paintbrushes, blank stones, molds, etc! I need to see if there is a set up that’ll make it easier for me. This was after only 1 session at her house. I don’t want to go years and not know there’s a better way of doing things.

I am glad he was able to get started with treatment so quickly, and will be positive and assume he is now on the road to recovery!!! Do you have the mind of relationship where you can call him Hannibal now or am I the only freak in the room?

He started with the Hannibal references on Tuesday when he had it made 😂 We TOTALLY have that relationship. He even got to bring the mask home just in case he needs to again. Let’s hope he never does. ❤️

dewryce I think your rocks turned out great! I have yet to find a craft room set up that works for my stash of supplies. seaexplore seriously I say the good attitude you both have about this will aid in healing. Sense of humor in the darkest moments makes everything seem less heavy.

Just catching up - I've worked a wee bit on my crochet, and was gifted a lovely set of Prym hooks from my Secret Santa. Of course it's the larger set, so I just ordered the smaller set since most of my yarn needs 3-5mm hooks. seaexplore sending all the hugs to you and your hubby

The children's section of the BBC is called CBeebies. They have a tradition of reading a bedtime story to children, sometimes by famous people like David Tennant and Tom Hardy. Now Jason Momoa has been added to the list, first thing I noticed he wore a crocheted cardigan before taking it off to read. www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/entertainment-arts-67802453

I couldn't tell if it was serious or he was making a joke.

Crochet shirts and cardigans are having a moment. Just recently Niall Horan wore a yellow and beige short sleeve crochet shirt over a white tee on an episode of The Voice.

It's a bright colour choice.
Jane Crowfoot, the crochet designer, was surprised earlier this year when Justin Bieber was photographed behind the scenes at some award ceremony with her Persian Tiles blanket wrapped around him.
