What do you do when you have a week/month that is just nothing? Maybe use shows that you watched or memes that you thought were funny or the weather or screen shots of news? Those are the things I go to when I don't have much to add to my weekly spreads. Or maybe make a card with some of the food you ate during the week? This is what I would do. Either that or I'd look for things I could take photos of that show life right now, like my favourite mug, or favourite chair in a sunny corner, basically anything that captures a window into my life that doesn't normally appear in my album when I've got bigger stories to tell.

Recount a favourite childhood memory or toy or holiday and find online pics of said items or locations? Travel bucket list? Best books of all time? Favourite tv characters?

Ryann Ali included a 4x6 card in her latest PL spread that was a list of subject lines from her emails that week. Really varied and random - fun idea.

And it's not like she picked anything special. It was about contacts coming in the mail and stuff like that. I've been taking screenshots of TV shows I've liked and including a quote that resonated with me. That's been fun. In the past I've done podcasts too. I haven't been reading much but I think that's a good idea someone had. Also music playlists. I don't think it has to be from the exact month but generally close.

Thank you all for sharing your ideas! I'm going to see what I can come up with that is more general rather than a focused approach. I also had the idea to do a 6x12 pocket page instead of a 12x12, so I might switch sizes just for February, too. I think I'd be okay with that.

I saw that on Instagram and thought it was pretty cool! I've done screenshots of text messages or posts on social media that I've saved for later to add into my weekly spreads too. Sometimes it's a quote that fits my OLW or something that just speaks to me. It works for those lighter photo weeks.

Tuesday night I made the title page for my 2023 book and proofed all the pages. I put them into the blurb software. I rearranged pages for December because I wanted the two Christmas pages beside each other. I backed them up to the external hard drive with the new names. I thought it was done but told myself to look it over in the morning.
Wednesday morning I found that I named the file Yearbook 2024. I figured out how to change that. Then I saw that the title page was 2022. So I had to open photoshop to fix it and save the correct file to all the backups.
So I am glad I waited to check it. It should be delivered Mar 19th.

I got a chance to photograph week 9 today. I like this March kit but I'm not that into the 4X6 cards. I don't think I'll have enough to get through the 5 weeks that are March. I'm starting each month with the week that has the first day in it. I haven't used the florals so I think I'll do one week with those. Then there is the wave stuff. I'll also use those for one week. This week (last week) is done for cards. I just need to embellish. Lots of good stickers this month. I love the little tags. Anyway: http://instagram.com/p/C4gO4ySuVjC

I finally started my 2024 album. I always do 12x12, but I had a 12x9 album and a ton of page protectors. I have been doing two weeks in one 2pg layout and it's been working fine. I find I'm doing less searching for things to fill in the pockets or making filler cards. I'm putting in less current events than previously, but if it's important or funny enough to me, I'll include it. My goal is always one album per year so that's why I'm doubling up my weeks. Obviously if I have a really busy week or event I include inserts.

How many albums do you use per year if you do one week over 2 pages (like a left and right pocket page). And let's say 1-2 inserts per month? That's my rate right now. I think there will be weeks where a week will fit on one side of a page protector. But for now, I'm steady.

I figured out why I'm struggling with the March stories by the month kit.
It's like two different kits -- the florals and then the waves. I don't think those two match. I'm not going to use them in the same layout. So I have less stuff to pull from each week. This week I stuck with the florals. Next week I'm going to go with the waves. Then I have one more week and I've got a couple of papers from my stash that work with it and I'll make it work. March has 5 weeks with how I'm documenting.
The February kit all matched and you could use any part of the kit with everything.
I haven't spent any time with April yet but I hope it's more like Feb. than March.
The other thing I need is diecuts without words or pictures. I need shapes with spaces to either write or put an embellishment on. I have less use for diecuts with sentiments. I just can't with all the sentiments.
My plan is to turn them over to the white side and paint on them or add some paste or something so I will be able to use them.
Also I don't mind the weird zodiac vellum card but I don't think I can use it. Would love to see how you used that one.

I have 2 full 12x12 albums for each year too. I don’t do pocket pages anymore, but I use the same # of page protectors for my full size layouts, about 4/month. I still have room to add bulkier memorabilia like programs, or add inserts with extra photos when I want.

That is how my last two years are. And why this year I’m doing 1 page 12x12 for each week. I just want one PL album for the year.

Thanks for all the feedback. I took advantage of the studio calico sale and got 2 9X12 grey albums and some more page protectors. Not sure I'll have enough page protectors to get me through the year but I wanted to compare with the scrapbook.com ones before I fully committed to one or the other.

The annoying thing of going back and forth between brands is the holes don't line up. The SC and AE ones have 4 holes and the SB.com ones are 3 hole. I switched to SB.com albums this year because they didn't have white in stock at SC/AE when I needed new ones (and I kind of regret it, the SC/AE ones look nicer from the spine) but I have a mix of page protectors from various brands. I don't mind having them punched, but it is annoying to have to punch them every time when I want to add pages into my album. The different brands have different configurations of page protectors available, though, so you have to end up with a mix if you want all the styles.

I do only (1) 12x12 album per year for PL. Although mine is strictly pocket pages. My regular layouts go into other albums, the few that I do create anymore. I used to do a ton of pages but I feel like PL kinda took up that part of everyday scrapping for me. It should be noted that I do a mix of 12x12 and 9x12 page protectors in the same album. That way if some weeks are lighter, I do less. I have on occasion (once) put 2 weeks into one 2 page spread as opposed to my normal 1 per double spread. That week I had literally 1 photo and it wasn't needed to try and scrounge up more content. I adapted and moved on. On the flip side I have added in a 6x12 insert in a few weeks when we've had lots going on but in the past 14 years of doing PL I've only done that 5-6 times.

I've also been cutting up some leftover 12X12s that I have for an old project. So they're not all quite 9" because of math but it's not bothering me. They are all different brands. I'm curious to see these SB.com ones on the Studio Calico album. The holes are so different.

I miss 6x12 protectors but have been making my own by sewing up the side. Washi works too, but thread holds up better, IMO.

I felt like the March kit need needed to be separated into specific groups (for me). I’ve been adding a lot of my stash (which I like to do anyway) in with March and I didn’t have to do that in Jan & Feb as there were plenty of choices. That zodiac card….that was such a bizarre inclusion to me. Not on AE brand to me- more like paper person. I used it as a back/middle piece to connect 3x4 items on both sides of a pocket so they didn’t flop around in the 4x6 pocket. 😂 I’ve been doing a good job using “unusable” cards that way instead of letting them sit in my stash -I’ll turn cards over and use the white side for stamping and journaling, too. I actually do like the sentiment diecuts but there are a lot so I am having leftovers to use other times. I like your idea to just flip over and use the white side like I am for some cards. I’ll be interested to see May’s SBTM offering and how I feel about that one.

That is a good idea. I have been cutting white cardstock for some but also using up cards I know I will never use. I've got this week laid out and there are only two spots for fillers so I will use those wave pieces -- the vellum for the 4X6 and there is one 3X4 that matches. I'm going to mix up some paint to match (I don't think I have a close enough match in ink) and alter all the backs of the sentiments that I don't think I'll use. Like a swatch of paint or a brush stroke or something on half so I'll have room for some quick journaling on each. Everything for next month looks like it will all work together. But I don't know what I'll do with the weird painted ampersand and such.
