MichyM, I saw that post and am so happy someone decided to give up their products for you. I most certainly thought it would be a long shot because I pretty much loved everything. Glad you will be joining us!

I don't have any TSM inks, and won't be buying any. Sounds like I missed a 20% off coupon (major bummer...y'all please share the goodies you purchased with your discount).
Does anyone know offhand if anyone has made (and posted) a color match for either PinkFresh or C9 inks? Or are all the ink colors used for the event also in the kit as CS so I can match/coordinate them easily? Thanks!

Does anyone know offhand if anyone has made (and posted) a color match for either PinkFresh or C9 inks? Or are all the ink colors used for the event also in the kit as CS so I can match/coordinate them easily? Thanks! For some reason I thought you purchased all the TSM ink cubes when you first started cardmaking. I did purchase 7 ink cubes with the discount code and wow they stamp beautifully. I am super impressed with the ink cubes. It honestly seemed like a pigment ink instead of a dye ink, it's just thick and luxurious. All that to say, no the inks are not included in our kit, just cardstock. So a secret about me...I'm a cardstock hoarder, I keep the smallest of scraps. Since my first C&C where TSM was involved, I've kept a gallon ziplock bag with all my TSM scraps from tiny to A2 size and larger. Along with the cardstock we got for this event and the cardstock I've gotten in the monthly card kits, I decided to create a cardstock swatch ring while preparing the homework. Turns out I have swatches of 30 colors. I compared the TSM cardstock swatches to my ink swatches and this is what I came up with for each class. SU = Stampin Up, Alt = Altenew Class #2 Salmon = TSM Salmon Peach = TSM Peach Citrine = PF Citron Leafy = SU Lucky Limeade, C9 Avocado Fresh Mint = Alt Volcano Lake, SU Pool Party Golden = GK Wild Dandelion, SU Daffodil Delight Blush = Alt Pink Pearl, GK Innocent Pink, PF Cherry Blossom Bubblegum = C9 Watermelon Class #3 Golden = GK Wild Dandelion, SU Daffodil Delight Fresh Pink = Alt Frosty Pink, Alt Pink Diamond, GL Bubblegum Pink Blush = Alt Pink Pearl, GK Innocent Pink, PF Cherry Blossom Julep = PF Aquamarine Class #4 Begonia = TSM Begonia Salmon = TSM Salmon Citrine = PF Citron Fresh Mint = Alt Volcano Lake, SU Pool Party Lagoon = PF Mermaid Cove Golden = GK Wild Dandelion, SU Daffodil Delight Melon = Alt Snapdragon Leafy = SU Lucky Limeade, C9 Avocado Orchid = GK Medium Orchid Class #5 Rosy = GK Dusty Rose Cheeky = TSM Cheeky Golden = GK Wild Dandelion, SU Daffodil Delight Dijon = C9 Sunflower Julep = PF Aquamarine Emerald = PF Emerald City Forest = PF Evergreen Class #6 Begonia = TSM Begonia Salmon = TSM Salmon Citrine = PF Citron Fresh Mint = Alt Volcano Lake, SU Pool Party Lagoon = PF Mermaid Cove Golden = GK Wild Dandelion, SU Daffodil Delight

I have been out of town so I just got to look at my package before we left but this week I started prepping for the classes. I think the first card has the most die cutting but it is good to get all that out of the way so we don’t sit and watch her die cut in class. I’m particularly excited about the birthday candles and tag dies. I think they are just adorable.

Oh and also, regarding TSM inks. I did buy some of them, not a lot. I have a LOT of their CS. Love the colors but not a fan of the quality of it. So, when push came to shove I made the decisions to go with C9 ink and CS.
PM me if you’d like to talk about the CS. Most of it is in the de-stash pile.

pinklady that's awesome that you made all of the ink comparisons. I hoard the cardstock, too. I think their colour palette is so pretty. I keep all of my scraps for TSM separate from my other card stock scraps, in 4 plastic 5x7 cases - one for red & pink, one for yellow & orange - you get the idea. I'm not surprised you like the ink, I think Amy was in charge of choosing the inks at Stampin' Up! - choosing their new ink & foam pad formulations. I read it somewhere but it was a few years ago so I can't remember where - pretty sure it was from Amy herself, though.

MichyM Did you get your kit? Are you liking all the products & cards? Just being nosy. I did, it came several days ago! I have not even broken the tape on the box. Yes, I'm a weirdo, I know. I haven't felt like doing prep, and if I open it I'll feel guilty about it, so it stays closed for another day or two. I do have prep ON MY CALENDAR for Saturday, so I know I'll open it by then. I have no idea WHY, but I've been more chatty than usual online about cards (and even on the NSBR side) the last 10 days or so, and less creatively motivated. But not feeling stumped or blah or anything. I wonder why that is...?

Ok, I opened the box this morning while watching the unboxing video. Really happy with the packaging (as many of you were), and the beautiful products. Of course I'm thrilled that there are stencils for a couple of the classes I'm looking forward to digging into prep tomorrow! Printing out the booklet as I type this. Things I would change IF I was in charge: 1. Less PINK (ducking for cover) which is an easy fix. It is my least favorite color. Sorry pinklady! 2. More diversity in the icons used for the cards. I'd love to see a second class offered that is NOT florals - the birthday one is the only class without florals, KWIM? 3. Would have loved to see something that feels more masculine/has the ability to be masculine like the watch kit from June. 4. A nod towards upcoming holidays. Doesn't have to be full-on fall or winter cards, but maybe just a nod either with colors used/design of the cards, something! I realize that in her unboxing video she indicated that she's still working on December holiday designs, so I understand that it would have required work designing holiday products early. How're y'all coming with the prep? Have you changed color schemes for any of the cards/classes? If so, do you feel like sharing? Will you be participating in the classes live?

MichyM HAHA on the pink...but even I have to admit she can go way overboard on pink. The only color changes I made are for Class 2, I'm using a light grey colored cardstock instead of all that mint color and for Class 5 I used different C9 pinks for the flowers and real greens for the leaves. I'm not making the card holder but I'm going to use that die to make cards with a flap opening instead. Either gatefold or just left flap cards. Haven't really determined how to do it yet. I'm honestly OK with the TSM florals compared to say the PinkFresh florals. For some reason I'm drawn to TSM aesthetic better, it's seems more modern where PF is more feminine...if that makes any sense. I'm really excited for the gallery and make & takes. The more inspiration the better. Overall, after working with the products, I'm thrilled with everything we got. I think the event cost vs the kit products was great. I did have one flower in the class 5 stamp set that has a blem but I'm not sure it's worth the hassle of telling her. Did anyone else have a bubble in the petal on the E1 stamp? I also think it was a very smart move to limit her first event to 250 people. I did chuckle at the unboxing video where Amy said Carissa used the products the way they were designed or something to that effect. I've always said the reason she doesn't have a design team is because she is a control freak about how her products are used. That comment pretty much solidified that for me.

I agree with you about the aesthetic of TSM florals, just wishing she had branched out (pun intended) from them a bit for the event. And I so with you in seeing inspiration. I like TSM “look” but I think there is so much more that can be done with her products. This is my first time (other than the two kits I purchased) with a BUNCH of her products. I’m looking forward to playing with them beyond the event. I remember Amy making that comment about Carissa, and you’re totally right about her having some control freak tendencies. For sure. It’s likely a costly endeavor for a very small company like TSM to hire designers/guest designers, but man…I think it would help her business so much. The exposure on SM when the designers post would be so worth it. I follow many designers/card companies/average Joe card makers on SM (as many of us do) and it is extremely rare to see anything made with her products. It’s a shame really.

I agree about not having designers. For the first few card kits there was quite a bit of inspiration from other designers, but it looks like that's over. I don't get how she doesn't want someone to use her products in a different creative way.
I got a few sets when she clearance them and now I can't find anything for inspiration or how to put stuff together.

I caught that comment about Carissa using the products as Amy's suggested/intended - however she worded it - and thought the same thing! I was like, that's weird, almost a dig, like she needs to take credit for Carissa's work or something, but I think you're right, it's all about control.
Even with being a control freak, I really wish Amy would get other designers to showcase her products - I don't think she could go wrong with someone like Yana Smakula, whose work is always flawless - detailed, original, elegant, and always clean and precise. I know there are other designers with an elegant but modern aesthetic that always do killer work. Maybe Amy wants very slow, very controlled growth, so that's why she doesn't use designers? Who knows, but I've always found it frustrating because I need inspiration - I don't visualize well, so I definitely need to see how products are used in different ways.

Question for those of you who have previously participated in these types of events - do you think I will miss anything by not participating as the classes are live? My kids all have sports on Saturday, so I will be away from home a large part of the day. And being up and ready to craft at 8am on a Sunday is not really my speed, lol. I'd rather get started later, but don't want to miss anything exciting!

Watching at your pace where you can do it on your time and enjoy the process is just as fun. I wouldn’t miss my kid’s games for a scrapbook event…”it’s not that deep”, as my boys say. Lol. The point was to get some great product, be inspired and craft for fun.

If you get those done you'll probably be just fine keeping up in all the classes even if you don't get any other homework done.
