C9 mail is at my PO box! I have a SB.com order coming tomorrow, so I'll pick them both up tomorrow. Yay for happy mail!

Hurray for the boxes arriving! Mine is due on Saturday, yay! After the disappointing SB Weekender, I am so looking forward to this and the PF foiling event (which I think is the following weekend).

My box came 2 days early...holy smokes there is a lot packed in that little box! I am super impressed with the contents, some of it totally unexpected. I'm in the eucalyptus cabin. Wish it was a pink cabin but oh well. I'm not super excited about Carissa's cards but I'm hoping I can find other donut card inspiration on Pinterest. For those of you who have done this before, are we able to see/buy the other counselor gifts?

At least that's how it was after the first event and last year.

Watermelon. Watermelon. Juicy watermelon, that’s me What’s your cabin? And if you’ve looked at it, do you like your cabin die? My kit wasn’t due until Saturday but then poof, it was waiting for me when igot home earlier. Only peeked quickly at the dies and stamps and I’m excited! I need to lose 8 pounds, but….did that stop me from ordering taffy? Oh no it did not! I didn’t get any last year and felt like I missed out. That said, the smallest *pick you own mix* was 3 pounds, and that is wayyyyy too much for me. If I can mail some to you (I just ask that you pay shipping) give a holler. Not sure when it’ll show up here, but hopefully within a couple of weeks.

Wildberry cabin.
What did you pick in your taffy mix?
I saw today was international taffy day with a $5 special on the "party mix" but it looked way too sweet for me.

I’m in orangesicle cabin.
I like the donut set way more than I did in the first peeks. I know the choice of font used is playing into it. I love this particular font. I think they will make good encouragement cards for Cards for Cubs.

I’ve seen some others and my favorites I’ve seen are watermelon and creamsicle.

People open their cabin dies early? How/where do you see other cabin's?! Carissa's donut class will start at 7 pm here, which is generally too late for me anyway. And I don't like the set and I don't generally like Carissa's teaching style, so I kind of set this one aside to resell, since there's nothing about it I like enough to go back another weekend and revisit this one. You gave me pause, Ryann, but there are other sets I have that are great for encouragement.

Thanks, Ryann. I did open mine. Still not sure exactly what's goin' on, but I sort of get it. Is Creamsicle Jennifer McGuire? If so, I think I can parse what that's supposed to be. I like the watermelon die.

I'm on team rain forest. I cannot wait to do Jennifer's card and so glad she's teaching that one because she is great at explaining things.
I think my favorite part of the camp is seeing all the bonus cards. If I remember correctly, the cards in the booklet are designed by C&9th and not the instructors. Last year, everyone had amazing ideas.
I forgot that this event had a donut card. I just bought dies for donuts 3 weeks ago. oh well, I guess I'll get some more ideas on what to do with them! My box also smelled like donuts when I opened it, probably because of the taffy.

I picked peppermint, chocolate, chocolate caramel, licorice, and orange swirl. If these float anyone's boat LMK and I'll share. If anyone wants to order their own, there are coupons online, just do a search for taffy town coupon code.

Did the spoiler of the counselor dies get deleted? I was glad to see them. I was going to post a spoiler for the Eucalyptus die since it was not included but I'm not really in the mood for someone to get their knickers in a bunch about it either. Let me know if you want to see it and I'll post a link.

Since it's your own image you'd be posting in a spoiler, I can't see it being an issue if you decide to share.

This is the Eucalyptus die. Since Kristina Werner is the counselor, it's spot on. I'm not a huge fan of it but oh well.

This is my first C9 camp (I've done a Holly Jolly event in the past). Typically are there samples made by the counselors using their dies?

I finally have a free day so I am die cutting today. Just a tip if you are going to do the donut class. BEFORE you take the large 3 piece frosting dies off the backer, on the cutting side, take a sharpie and mark a spot on all 3 dies where they need to line up. Once you do that, take them off the backer and mark the same spot on the backside of the die. It is a pain in the butt to try to get the outer and middle dies to line back up if you don't mark them. Ask me how I know...

I saw in the FB group that folks were having issues with the cutting for that class in particular. Since I have already determined that I'm not, I didn't worry about it.
I thought about starting this weekend, but every time I look at it, I get annoyed. I still don't like not having the cutting arranged by color. And I think there are things in the precut list that aren't really intended to be precut. I will probably do most of the die cutting after the unboxing (when, if I'm right, they'll mention which things don't really need to be on that list). I might go through and highlight all the card bases and cut and fold them early.

Well I spent at least 6 hours die cutting and I'm not done yet. I'm confused by the instructions for Jennifer's class so I left some of that until class. Also, it's a bit annoying that one of the dies for her class does not fit very well on an A2 card panel. I did not get to Kristina's class but I had already decided I'm not doing the greenhouse box things but I do want to make flat cards with her products.
If you've opened your box and looked thru the field guide, did you notice the cards in the booklet are not the same cards that were in all of the IG summer camp posts? They are similar but not the same. I actually like the IG cards better and will probably replicate those.

That was the weirdest unboxing event. Here’s a bag of stamp and here’s a bag of dies, now moving on to the comedy hour. 😳

I like that there's one flat card with that set already, rather than the two boxes shown on IG. But I was really sort of hoping it was a pop-up sort of thing that flattened to fit in an envelope and then became a 3D greenhouse. Maybe there's a way. Other than a flat card vs. a second box, the other differences between IG and the Field Guide seemed really minor to me. The color of a sentiment here or there. Meghann's preview didn't seem to show either card, but rather parts of both. The color of the greenhouse box that will be created is a different color than the preview one, little things like that. Did you notice something more substantive?

That was the weirdest unboxing event. Here’s a bag of stamp and here’s a bag of dies, now moving on to the comedy hour. 😳 They went over the cardstock colors and cutting the large donuts, which people were struggling with on FB. They discussed the homework for Laura's class, which I thought was unnecessary (and I was right). They discussed with part of the die cut you actually needed for the flat greenhouse card, so if you are at all experienced as a crafter, you can partially die cut and hoard some gold foil paper for another use. They also defended the rearranging of the homework organization. And I still don't like it, but I'll probably fix it myself. Just get out the first color, all the die sets, and start putting all the dies for all the classes on the sheet together. Oh, Greg also mentioned the idea of putting an electric tea light inside the greenhouse and using it as table decor, which made the change of color for the project from the preview to the field guide make a lot more sense!

I am a little surprised by this, but I might not be doing Jennifer's class at all. The cards kind of left me cold looking at them, but I've started by die cutting and keep sort of skipping right over those pages -- just experiencing really strong resistance.

Did you notice something more substantive? The changes are minor but the biggest thing is they seem to have replaced Grasshopper in the original cards with Eucalyptus which makes the cards in the book dull in my opinion. I'm switching back to Grasshopper. I'm just not a huge fan of the Eucalyptus color. A few of the things I noticed about the differences between IG & the book: --Laura's cards were more pink but the book has more green. The pink/orange is really want made me love the cards. I'm probably the only one who noticed the pinkness --Meghann's turnabout card switched Grasshopper with Eucalyptus. The Thanks for Being You sentiment was cut wild berry, watermelon, grasshopper and rainforest where the book uses creamsicle, watermelon and briar rose. The big sentiment was laying on the turnabout stamped paper which looks great. The tiny square sentiment gets lost in the card. --Jaycee's flowers petals switched Grasshopper with Eucalyptus. The second card probably uses grasshopper but the orange ink blending mutes the color. --Carissa's donut box was white but pink in the book. I also think some of the donut layers were cut with pebble cardstock instead of wheat. --Jennifer's rainbow card has different colors on the person. (I prefer the book colors on this one) --Kristina's two dimensional boxes are not even in the book. They are way cuter than the white box in the book. The box using the wheat cardstock is the best one. Again, this is all minor but what made me realize it is that the stuff in the book just seems dull/muted. I thought it was the paper the book was printed on but then I realized it was really the Grasshopper/Eucalyptus switch. The bright colors are what drew me in when I signed up so it just seemed off when I opened book. It's a super easy switch since I have the ink and paper that I prefer, so that's great.

I’ll be honest, CZ is not my favorite, so watching last night was just “eh” for me.
I have ruined all the acetate they sent for JM’s class. I tried cardstock shims and both wrapping the acetate in copier paper as well as CS. Other than that homework is done. I didn’t find it to take terribly long (for me).
