How far do you have to travel to an actual scrapbook store? I do not mean JoAnn, Michael's, or Hobby Lobby.
I have one that is 50 miles away. They also have other crafts and some home decor items, but I count it as a scrapbook store as there are probably at least 10 aisles of scrapbook supplies.
There is a regular scrapbook store 75 miles away.

Last I checked I have a few within an hour radius of my home. I have gone to each but none cater to my style. There has been one that was an hour away but it closed down 5-6 years ago, changed locations to further away and was more of a retreat center with small shop. I try to shop small business type of carriers online.

There used to be 8 in my city. Now there are none. I have no idea how far away the nearest one is, but I'm sure it is far.
I buy everything online now and I can't imagine a scrapbook store having anything that I don't buy online. There are only so many scrapbook manufacturers left.

Good question, I went to a new one yesterday. It's about a 40-mile drive. it is a very small store but only sells scrapbooking things and the owner said they have crops and classes.
I know there's one scrapbook store which is technically closer (30 miles) but much slower and annoying to get to because of traffic.
I have a chain craft store very near me that sells home decor, sewing stuff, and yarn etc and they have 2 or 3 aisles of scrapbooking things (Echo Park, Photoplay, Doodlebug), stickers, a little by the sheet cardstock--textured only, why??? and some stamps and dies (Lawn Fawn). They shrunk down the scrapbook area a few years ago and now they sell puzzles in that space. I'd rather they went back to selling more (non-textured!) cardstock...

I have 2 near me, one is less than 2 miles but it's more like a stamp store vs. scrapbook store (they sell tons of stamps & card making stuff but also sell some scrapbook paper and very few embellishments but can order whatever you want). The other store is about 14 miles from my house and I was just there yesterday for the flea market to see how well (or not well) my stuff is selling. This is in the South Bay of the San Francisco Bay Area. I don't think there are any more stores in the SF Bay Area but there is one about 100 miles north of me in Davis, CA.

About 70 miles for the nearest one. It is in a small city I usually visit monthly for other shopping and errands, so it is really convenient for me. Out here on the farm, everything is a bit of a drive.
In a larger city 2 1/2 hours away there are at least three LSS's. Each has a different vibe. One is a couple of blocks from the Costco I stop at for gas, so it is the one I visit most often. The others I visit if I have more time or if I am looking for something specific.

I have two that are a 30 minute drive. They also both have online stores, so if I'm particularly lazy I order online then have my DD's BF pick it up for me because one store is only 5 minutes from his house.

Thanks for starting this conversation! I have a doctor's appointment near one of my "closest" ones (2.5 hours) this week and hadn't thought about stopping until I saw this.
Need to start my list.

There’s a stamping / die cutting store about 45 minutes away. They have some scrapbooking stuff, mostly Doodlebug, and I enjoy going there sometimes. The closest real scrapbooking store is about two hours away.

I think the closest actual scrapbook stores that I am aware of are in the Atlanta area, about 2 1/2 hours away. I'm in central Alabama near Birmingham. I've been to a couple of stores in the Atlanta area, but one of those is now closed. At one time there were at least 8 scrapbook stores within 20 miles of home or work.

The last remaining store in my area is around 25 minutes away (15 miles or so) from my house, but less than one mile away from where I work.

About 10 miles away, the next town over, and it's the same town with all the "Generica" - malls and big box stores too, all 3 that you mentioned.
The last couple of times I went into the LSS I didn't see anything I was looking for though - and no American Crafts at all, they said they'd never even heard of AC... how? (Did they not understand me? My accent is not that strong/weird unless you're not listening.) They have Tim Holtz and Graphic45, stuff I shouldn't buy because I'll never use it and school color/mascot stuff I don't need.
Every time I've been in I've felt pretty unwelcome tbh, plus if I can't get Shimelle or Doodlebug there I'm certainly not going to pay brick and mortar prices for stamps and dies there. Maybe I should give them another chance, but the girl who rings up my cardstock at Joann's (who is also named Jo/Joanne/Joanna, like me) is far more friendly and helpful.

After years of having 6 scrapbook stores within a 30 minute or less drive and one stamp store that was 45 minutes away all have sadly closed. The only scrapbook store I have been to recently is a 6 hour drive when I visit the store in Pigeon Forge Tennessee.

My closest store is about 30 minutes away but I don't go to that side of town so I never go. And I heard the owner was customer unfriendly so I never made the effort.

I honestly don't know anymore - I went and looked at the LSS list pinned here and 200 miles +/- seems to be the closest and I haven't been to that city in over 20 years

Ok you made me look.
I did a search for scrapbook stores. Most of what popped up were places that no longer had B&M stores or places that were longer in business. I found one 90 minutes away and one just under an hour away. The closer one is Frank Garcia Studio. Might be worth the trip.
Then I searched rubber stamp stores. Most of those were that that other type of rubber stamp—business use. I did find one I’d been to years ago. That one has mostly stamps of course but I remember their having a large collection. I’d forgotten about that store. It’s only 20 minutes away.

7 miles. They cater more to card makers imo, there is no classroom/crop space, and they won’t do special orders 🙄 but it’s a nice store.

I know of one that is 2.5 hours away heading south, and another about the same distance to the north. I haven't been to either of those. The one north is I think the one joblackford is talking about. I just remembered another one that is about 2.5 hours east of me. That one I have been to, but it's been a few years (before I moved to this state). It is a general craft store but had a decent selection of paper crafting stuff. I remember liking it a lot actually. There is a cool crafty thrift store about 1.5 hours away that I've been to once. They have a paper crafting area, along with yarn, fabric, felt, beads, paints and everything in between. I found some PTI stitching dies when I was there. I felt like I had struck gold finding them.

There is only one scrapbook store left in my city. It is about a 1.5 miles from where I work (in the opposite direction of where I live). It's about 8 miles from where I live.
I no longer go there, because the owner is an asshole. She is very rude and insulting.

I don't know why but I always thought of Upland being closer to San Bernardino, so I never mapped it out. It's not a large store, but they keep it well stocked and super clean, neat, and just so pretty. They also have a pretty good size classroom and almost always have something going on on weekends. Sometimes Frank is minding the store, and other times one of his employees, but they are all super friendly and helpful. Upland is in San Bernardino county, but right next to Claremont, which is part of Los Angeles county. Map it out and see how long it would take to get there. Also, it is upstairs, so if that is a problem call first to see if there is an elevator in the building.

There is an LSS about an hour away. I have not been there since I don't paper scrap but my husband recently took my mother there and she really enjoyed it.
