Only 4 for me, but one was before I can remember, so I’d really only say 3. Sightseeing like that isn’t really my jam. If I go to CA I’m not heading to the Hollywood sign or the Golden Gate Bridge, if I hit NYC I’ll be on Broadway, not the Empire State Building. I want to feel the local vibe/culture when I go somewhere, not go to a tourist trap. 🤷🏼♀️ I kind of agree but then again, tourist traps are popular for a reason. I was going to skip Blarney Castle in Ireland for that reason but I'm really glad I didn't. HOWEVER, I've seen inside the Arch on TV and no thank you. And the Golden Gate Bridge is actually very cool, or it was in the 90s. The park around it was so nice to explore. We went running along the cliffs, can't believe I didn't fall to my death. They probably don't even let people do that anymore 🤣 but I had just barely turned 18 and was with my boyfriend and it was such fun. I agree with both of these statements. It is not like the list was made up of things like the world’s largest ball of string, Wall Drug, or other such things. That is the nice thing about travel though, we can make it all about the experiences, places, and things that we like and enjoy seeing.

14 or 15. No sure whether to count the Hollywood sign. I’ve seen it plenty. Especially while taking in a show at the Bowl, but also while driving around. But I’m not going to hike up to it or anything.

If I go to CA I’m not heading to the Hollywood sign or the Golden Gate Bridge, if I hit NYC I’ll be on Broadway, not the Empire State Building. I want to feel the local vibe/culture when I go somewhere, not go to a tourist trap. 🤷🏼♀️ Which of those on the list do you consider a tourist trap? The only ones I can see are the Vegas Strip Times Square and the Mall of America. I certainly don't consider the historical places or natural parks tourist traps. I counted the Hollywood Sign and GG Bridge on my list because I have seen them both and driven across the Bridge. You can't really be driving around LA area and not see the Hollywood Sign. Doesn't that count? And if you are in SF the bridge is pretty hard to miss as well. It isn't like most of us make a destination of it. You toss out going to a Broadway Show as some sign of being something locals do. Going to shows on Broadway may be one of the most ubiquitous experiences in NYC. Why don't you consider that a tourist trap? I think the Empire State building is architecturally beautiful and interesting and you get a great view of the Chrysler Building which is definitely a building worth looking at. I have been to NYC and been to see shows and the Empire State Building. You don't have to do one or the other. I have been to many museums in NYC. I have also wandered aimlessly through Little Italy, weird neighborhoods were I hardly saw other people, eaten in greasy spoons were people openly looking at me because I was likely the only stranger they had seen all week. I also went to the Statue of Liberty and other places you might consider a tourist trap. The shaming of people wanting to see things like the Empire State Building or the GG Bridge is weird. I used to see movies that featured those places. I read books about them. I used to dream about seeing them. I think labeling them tourist traps is silly.

16 for me
I have seen the White House and the Lincoln Memorial but only by air. We were there for a tradeshow and time just didn't allow for a tour of these places. I was extremely disappointed.

18 for me. Some when I was a kid and my parents would take us on trips. A few on business trips to see the sights of a city I was in. And family lived near some (Niagara Falls, Pike’s Peak, French Quarter.) And a trip out west we hit Zion, Las Vegas, and the Grand Canyon.
Fun little survey.

I haven't been to many of the new list:
Eiffel Tower Big Ben Empire State Building (I lived in NYC for years and only went once, with a visiting friend who wanted to see it) Notre Dame Cathedral St. Peter’s Basilica Time Square The Louvre Statue of Liberty Buckingham Palace Arc de Triomphe Trevi Fountain Golden Gate Bridge
The only reason I even did that well was that there seems an overabundance of NYC sites.
