Congrats on your new job Shakti! I don't buy word dies where the letters are not connected anymore. Its just too easy to lose a letter and than you have to start over or if I don't glue it down perfectly straight/spaced I get frustrated. I like to cut a skinny strip of press and seal piece. Its enough to hold the letters together, but not so much that gives me trouble after gluing. This trick might help with those delicate letters.

I also prefer connected word dies. Not sure how I'll end up feeling about these by Saturday night....

So, update (I know you're all waiting with bated breath): I DID go to Michael's and get light pewter. It is a good match for Pebble -- possibly a tad too gray or cooler or something, but much better than using cobblestone. So, yes, I placed my C&9th order for Pebble and Sea Glass Cubes. And a stamp and die set I don't need (but like a lot!) to make the shipping charge worthwhile. They'll be here Wednesday. In the meantime, I side-tracked myself with a completely different project and stalled out on homework. But, since I GOT A JOB, I have plenty of time mornings this week to do it, what with no more job hunting required but no job to go to yet (starts 8/5)! Congrats on the job!

So working on Cathy's homework. And don't really need to decide this now, but....
Now that we've established that most of us are not at all fond of Carissa's pink tree, how are we feeling about Cathy's partly purple tree? I'm thinking of maybe using more C&9th and blending some kind of blue through teal to green...maybe harbor, tide pool, sea glass? But not purple....
Also, thanks for all the congrats on the job!

I worked on the homework today and found those inlay word dies to be a bit of a struggle. I'm a newer card maker and haven't worked with this type of die before.
For Carissa's cards, I decided to go with your basic red, green, gold from my stash.

I seem to have replaced pink lemonade with a glimmery silver. I don’t think the parsley’s working for me either though.

I am still struggling with homework for Carissa's second card, mostly colors. I did make a watermelon card base, but I'm not sure I actually want to use it. I have to die cut the watermelon shadow and berries (in actual watermelon or in ??) and the miscellaneous greenery (in some green that I'm pretty sure won't be parsley). Stick with the watermelon and do eucalyptus? Choose a more traditional red and ?green?

Shakti, I’m at work but will look when I get home this evening. I haven’t done the homework for Carissa’s cards yet. Was trying to figure out other color combos and gave up LOL.

I made an executive decision -- I really, really wanted to finish the homework today. I went with cranberry (or a Recollection dark red that's very similar) and eucalyptus!

Are you pleased with this colour combo? I still have to choose my colours for Carissa's class. I've almost finished the homework for Meghann's class. I'm using The Stamp Market cardstocks, sticking fairly close to her colour choices. Regarding the comment about Cathy's purplish tree, I'm not a fan of purple so I'm considering changing those colours up. Not sure, because sometimes the cards really do look better in person. I may try two different colour palettes, one being the original one she suggests.

Yes, I think the eucalyptus with the darker traditional Christmas colors is going to work -- it's kind of the color combo in Meghann's first card. And Meghann's color sense is closer to mine than Carissa's.
To me, purple just doesn't say Christmas -- possibly less Christmas-y than pink. Pink is at least a derivative of red, so if I squint real hard, pink and green are Christmas colors. Not appealing ones to me, but Christmas colors nonetheless. Purple-to-blue, though? Just doesn't do it....

I am - unexpectedly - planning to get some of the homework done tonight. I was supposed to be at a wedding tomorrow, so put the class aside planning to do it another weekend, but then covid happened so I'll be watching and playing live. I'm underwhelmed by the cards thus far. Hoping I will like them more when I complete them!

Happy to have you join us Kitbop, but sorry you have Covid.
I did the spring event and the cards turned out really nice! Hoping this one will be the same.

I've still only done Meghann's homework, but I'll be working while I watch the videos today, nonetheless. I just won't be following their instructions in real time, for the most part. Who knows, maybe I can catch up this morning. I'm looking forward to seeing how these cards turn out irl.

Well, I'm not a happy camper here. My internet just went out! I can get in by using my iPhone as a hot spot, but I'm not sure how long that will work. Internet worked fine when I got up this morning.
Bah humbug!

OH NO!! Have you contacted your provider? I hope you get back up and running right VERY soon!!
Does anybody understand what the instructional videos that are already up on the site are and how they relate to today's content? We are getting lives, right?
I figured it out!

Well, Meghann's class ran half an hour over! I did get my internet back midway through, so was glad I was able to follow along! I think the card with the stars is my favorite. The door card is beautiful, but who has that much time to devote to a single card? LOL

Whoa. I don't think I'm going to make it through Carissa's cards - she starts in 45 minutes and I really need to walk the pup. I loved Cathy and Meghann's cards, but did not finish the "front door' card yet. Here's my take on them (I did not use the same colors they did).

Cathy’s first and Meghann’s third. Meghann’s second is also done. I lost the sentiments for Cathy’s third, so I should probably be searching and tidying instead of resting and posting. I am not fond of shakers and decided I just really didn’t have one in me today. I spent that time noodling on other alternatives and doing some organizing.

Beautiful cards ladies! Love the colors you used.
I've only managed two so far as I need more time and kept pausing the videos.

I think I'm going to use Cathy's C&S gold and white color scheme, but make Carissa's bonus spinner card.
I think I have two more cards completed and maybe two others ABS (all but sequins), but I am too tired to find and photograph 'em....

I added the sequins onto Carissa's tree card this morning. I recovered all the parts to Cathy's third card just as Carissa's class started, so that still needs to be assembled. And of course, the door. I found the word dies with the separate letters and the inlays to not be as bad as I feared. I did at some point figure out that when doing the inlays, it worked better to put the glue in the space, dispense with the tweezers, and place the inserts with fingers or wax tool, depending on size. The free-stamped background with Carissa was ok. I didn't feel particularly "empowered" or whatever it was folks were describing in the comments, but it kind of worked. And I think I can hide the worst of where it didn't work with die cuts.

Now that I look at the photos (and apropos of a recent QotD in the Challenge Chat thread), I wish I'd used my stitched circle die instead of a plain one....
