In my freezer, you might wonder why there is a tupperware with banana peels and coffee grounds in it. It's heading to the compost out back later that day, or maybe tomorrow morning. Freezing it ensures there is no smell and no insect problem.
That’s a great idea,thanks

If not for my grandson's hockey gear, my 3 car garage would hold 2 cars, 2 cabinets, a tool chest, trash & recycling cans, and a grill. I love it to be pretty much empty! I'm widowed, so no guy stuff. It's a townhouse, so no need for yard stuff.

We still have a water bed. And the wood floor in my scrap room has polka dots painted on it.

We have a "secret" room. The door looks like a large picture frame, opens with a magnet held against the latch. It was DS's wish at age 7 or 8 to have one when we were finishing the basement. It would have been the best spot for hide and seek, but he loved it so much that he showed everyone as soon as they came over! This is seriously cool.

We have a CPR dummy in the den. DD borrowed it for a school project, then the teacher said it was outdated and she could keep it. Since DD is training to be an EMT, it actually makes sense. However, where the heck to you put something like that when you aren't using it??? (We don't have a basement, garage and attic are not heatproofed, and we have minimal closets, so...George is just lying on the floor for now.) Give him a seat at the dining table. jeremysgirl has a skeleton that sits in various chairs. 😂😂 So, erm, we actually tried that! But he only has a torso and no support from the waist down. It was rather disappointing!

We always have a few empty boxes (usually from an online Target order) sitting around, as our cats love to nap in them or play in them. They like an empty box much more than any bed I’ve ever bought them. Yep. Cats. The reason we often leave "garbage" on the floor. And just when you think they've lost interest and think of tossing, they somehow "hear" you and are again sitting in/on before you get there to remove. Weirdos. ♥️

My son has at least 30 BIG fishing poles in the garage. The man is obsessed with fishing bluefin tuna, which takes poles of a good size, and he organizes trips out of San Diego, and has been making poles for all his friends who go with him.

We have this tiny toy walrus figurine that my husband and I hide from each other, and now my son has gotten into it. It started when our son was crawling and I found it and it is tiny enough to be a choking hazard so we started hiding it up high to keep it out of reach. Now my son is old enough to not put everything in his mouth and his favorite thing is to hide and find “da wawus.”

We have a dungeon room for D&D gaming. it was the main reason we bought the house. Both adult sons are huge gamers, but don't have enough room to host a company of intrepid explorers...so they come here every Sunday. Their current company has 9 members. They show up around lunchtime, disappear into the netherworld and we don't see anyone but the uber eats guy till late evening.

We have bath mats on the 2 new chairs…because cats. If we know someone is coming we will remove them but if you just show up you’ll see them keeping fur off the seat cushions. Ha! I keep a leopard Barefoot Dreams blanket thrown across one of our white chairs and ottoman because our dog Scouty like to lay on the ottoman and look out the window. The blanket matches nothing in our living room, but Scouty loves this blanket but I love that it keeps my off white furniture clean so I put it on his chair and then throw it in the wash once a week. We have 2 chairs in front of fireplace. The cushions are flipped up. I had the chairs cleaned last fall and the guy flipped them up to dry. Light bulb moment for me. Our miniature schnauzer likes to sit in those chairs as she can see us walking around the house without moving. Furry wet paws are why they were dirty in the first place.

Not weird for a hockey/sports house, but maybe weird to many here, our basement is full of stinky hockey and lacrosse gear.
One of my sons sleeps on a gigantic bean bag instead of his bed.
I currently have an “oasis” in the backyard. We took out our Covid era pool this spring and had a big sand circle leftover, so I bought a hammock and big umbrella and made a little oasis.

We have a lot of artwork. Most of it is in the basement. We have pottery projects and lots of paintings and drawings. I have 2 daughters that were art majors in college. One is still finishing. She is getting a BFA so we will have a lot more to hang.
We have butter in a dish usually on the counter to keep it soft.

Skeletons and skulls. I have four different skeletons. Two that talk, different sayings and all four have different eyes. Steve, Fred, Fiero, and the new guy doesn’t have a name yet. My special skulls that stay out year round, are gifts from people. Our house is really small, so we have to move Fred around when guests come over. We also have a 12 footer, but he only comes out during Halloween.

My dining room is set up for puzzles. Piles of old and new puzzles. The current puzzle on the table. We even bought new dining room chairs that are super plush just for being comfy while doing puzzles.
When we have a houseful of people (many times a year), I move them out of the way. Sometimes. DD likes to do puzzles, too.

Our previously formal front room is used as DHs' workout area. When youngest DS moved out at the beginning of the pandemic, we gave him the furniture that was there as we never used the room. And since the gym closed, we used the space to do our workouts. We didn't buy any big equipment, just have weights, balls, resistance bands, foam rollers in there. I've since gone back to the gym, but DH continues his workouts at home. I don't think I'll buy anything furniture-wise for that room, we didn't use it before so I don't see any point. It's neat and clean, and useable to us the way it is, but I think others coming in would wonder why no furniture?

We have a laminated card in the shower to remind you how to take a shower. Just in case you forget or your mind is all jumbled up lol! We have the morning routine and night routine cards also in the bathroom. They are charts, just cards. In my DD’s room on her closet door is a sign, “how clean is my laundry?” and lists how many times an item is acceptable to wear before it is washed. My DD is neuro diverse and her greatest problem is her variability. Some days she can struggle with the everyday stuff, especially when she is overwhelmed with things.
We laugh about it all the time but it works.

They like an empty box much more than any bed I’ve ever bought them. I have an unusually large collection of assorted empty shoeboxes. I keep them because when I have a gift to wrap that didn’t come in an easily wrappable package, I can easily find a box in my stash that will fit.

1. Pink is my favorite color. The walls of my cottage style house are gray. The furniture is white. All the decorations are soft blush pink. And roses - lots of roses. And teapots. And knick knacks. Shabby chic is my style.
2. The extra bedroom is my craft room. If I have company they take my bedroom and I sleep on the couch.
3. The guest bathroom is the kitty bathroom. It has a cat shower curtain and cat decorations and the litter box. Guests use the master bathroom.

The only thing I can think of that is odd is that our house was always COLD. Both growing up and our family house (which we just sold - yay!)

I love this! I love color. Every once in awhile I go to Goodwill and browse the mugs for random bright colors. If I bring some home I donate (usually to my Buy Nothing group) some mugs from the cupboard. I'd love to see a photo of your rainbow stairs! Ask & ye shall receive. ^.^ Also, Pongu Pongu Stark who was climbing the stairs for the first time. ETA: this was prior to finishing the landing & caulking the steps properly. Don't tell DH I posted an unfinished photo of his work. oh my gahhhh I LOOOOVE this! and I love the tile flooring! Oh of course the greates ACNH island designer has such amazing decorating taste!

What's weird is that my tiny dog has a bed in every room in the house save the kitchen and the kids' room (she thinks DD's bed belongs to her, though! LOL). She actually has TWO in our bedroom. I think this may not be as weird as you think it is. My tiny yorkie had beds everywhere. My cat has two cat trees. She also has a bed in every room. Three are in the living room (one by the window, one in her favorite sunbathing spot, one tucked under the end table for when the couches are full and she wants to be with all the people). She also has a Christmas sleigh bed. My friends with pets also have multiple beds for their pets strewn everywhere. I think it starts with one bed and over time it multiplies.

She does have a collection of Kohl’s throws at both of our houses though because for some odd reason she likes to have the fuzzy blanket between her body and my legs even when it’s like 90°. 🥵 She’s a weirdo.

Currently I have a toilet sitting in my family room. That’s weird don’t you think? 🤣🤣
We are remodeling a bathroom at the moment.
I have an exorbitant amount of slobber and dog hair. I go through my house about once a week with a hot towel and wipe down walls, TV, furniture, cabinets, light fixtures where his damn slobber has ended up. Never mind the three vacuums I have constantly picking up hair.
After reading this I really feel like a red neck hick haha
